This is very strong, and clearly “old school,” especially in terms of being aromatic/musky. The lavender note is clear as is the ambery quality in the base, though it’s not syrupy nor especially sweet. Otherwise, it’s rather blended out, and I could understand how one might say that the construction is “amateurish.” Of course, this doesn’t mean it isn’t pleasant, and the ingredient quality seems at least adequate. There’s a bit of sharpness, perhaps mostly from the fir, but otherwise I think of this as an aromatic amber, lacking florals, beyond what the lavender provides (and it’s not animalic). Undeniably, this is not good as an “office scent,” unless you got some perfumer’s alcohol and diluted it considerably. Perhaps you could do a half spritz to the stomach and then wear several layers of clothing (in cold weather only). On the other hand, if you are a boss who wants everyone to know it, you might want to consider this one! One thing for sure is that this is truly a “masculine” Eau de Parfum.
UPDATE: Far into the drydown, the incredible density of this scent loosens up and there is a kind of smoky, woody/resinous quality that is considerably more interesting and pleasant. Also, the spices are more obvious at this point. Though it’s not a “clone” of vintage Z-14, that’s the general type of scent this is.
