I found some of these perfumes in the new collection to smell very feminine which I love but this is very masculine! I would never wear it as a woman but I think it would be nice on a man. It is quite powerful.

Has fresh/aquatic undertones. Starts off very powdery during the first hour. It doesn’t get better from there, as after the the powder fades away, a sour/indolic scent takes over. After smelling that, I definitely can’t recommend this scent.

Got a tester of this from Sephora. Very clean, VERY GREEN, a little soapy to my nose..someone might be thinking “Irish Spring soap..?” after reading that, but no..this is not as sharp as Irish Spring is to my nose. To me Sage Spell has a bit of a pine smell. I don’t smell this and think ‘sage!’ but just very green. Reminds me of a bath product my grandma used back in the 70s, was very herbal and green smelling and crisp. There is a slight sharpness here. Definitely more of an earthy scent, not ‘perfumy’ at all. Sillage is moderate at best and this one only lasts on my skin about 2 to 3 hours.

You have to try this collection for yourself… it’s very different and goes in a different direction to most niche scents. You won’t be disapppointrd

In times of crisis the luxury sector can always rely on the power of perfumery to generate profits. Certainly one of the pioneers in this sense was Jean Patou who in the crisis of 1929 realized that he could use marketing concepts and anchor in some way the survival of his brand in the perfumery. Almost 90 years have passed and the names have changed, but stylists like Viktor & Rolf continue to use the same concept of exclusivity and luxury that Jean Patou was in some ways a pioneer, using the vehicle of the moment which is creating exclusive collections.
If in the early 2000’s niche and exclusive perfumery in a way it was a competitor of mainstream and designers over time it became a kind of catechizer who indoctrinated people with regard to the concepts that by paying more in the practice you would be getting a more exclusive experience with nobler materials, something better. What in practice is not always true, but perfume and magic start from the same principle, that you need to believe without seeing how the trick works.
And it is exactly anchored in the concept of magic that the designers propose the Magic Collection, including emphasizing exactly the illusionistic aspect of the perfumes. It’s a curious thing to do, there’s almost an irony disguised as a concept in it. But it is cool because it serves to analyze what is sold in a universe as an experiment: for a user who is not passionate about perfumes it is possible to sell practically anything in a higher price range, in this case, Sage Spell.
With the critical eye, I would say that by the perfume itself Sage Spell is a decoy concept for a mediocre perfume. Its scent is the kind I’d expect to see in a better-crafted collection released by Zara, but not for $ 220. It promises mint, wormwood and sage, a collection of herbs that would certainly look magical and have a history to be explored. It actually delivers a fresh and powerful aquatic scent, a kind of reduced version of the antidote that cuts complexity, enhances freshness and proposes performance. It is disappointing, ordinary and very expensive for what it delivers, but it sells because you buy the illusion of consuming a universe of luxury, something almost as old as the luxury sector itself.

I love this scent, so subtle, sparkling herbal, very nice and highly recommend it. Lasts a long time on my skin.

This one leans toward masculine, it has a definite herbal/ aromatic vibe, in a fresh way, I don’t think I could wear it, but on a man, this would be perfect, The absinthe brings a bit of a greenish sweetness to the scent..it is well done…now the heart is strong in sage, so if you don’t like sage in a perfume, it won’t do…overall impressed with it, nice creation, totally unisex so not my cup of tea. Yet in the category of aromatic scents , this is a real nice one
It has also a soapy undertone, maybe the warmwood ..not sure ..would be a nice fresh distinctive male cologne .
