Description

The fashion designer duo Viktor&Rolf launches a new, exclusive and niche-like collection of fragrances called Magic Collection.

Sparkling Secret is created by perfumer Juliette Karagueuzoglou of fresh citrusy notes of sweet lime and grapefruit, ginger, orange blossom, blonde woods, warm Bourbon vanilla and amber.

The bottle design is inspired by pharmacy bottles from the early 20th century. Each fragrance is accompanied by a card with a specific illustration for that specific fragrance. The fragrances are available as 75 ml Eaux de Parfum at the price of $220 USD each. On the market from February 2017.

When you know several of the exclusive collections you notice that many of them when follow a pattern when avoiding to risk. You will always find a citrus scent, an oriental, a fruity, a woody and so on, covering various territories. There is no problem in that when you can give a view of identity to this pattern, and some brands think that you just have to standardize bottles, descriptions and names for this to happen. And there you get a result like the Magic Collection, which instead of a collection of fact is just a collection of ideas that at best are like Sparkling Secret, work despite the problems.
Here what works is precisely the execution, because the idea of Sparkling Secret is well-managed: to reinvent the freshness. The perfume covers the gap of the citrus floral cologne that many exclusive collection proposes but at least it is one of the most hardworking perfumes of the collection to make it work for more that there is nothing new.
For the first time up to this point the concept integrates with the perfume: the actual opening refers to a juicy citrus cocktail where the lime contributes a greener and fresh aura and is anchored in the citrus freshness of the ginger. The floral heart of neroli is interesting because it explores the connection between the orange tree and the tuberose but by the green and fresh spectrum of the two flowers; perhaps many may not recognize tuberose at this moment in the perfume since the flower is mostly explored in narcotic ways. Finally, the fragrance finishes on base made to guarantee the performance of the idea that uses a lot of voletile elements on its core (citrus and floral citrus). We have an amber dry woodsy aroma, musks and the promised vanilla and tonka end up getting more in theory than in practice.
The idea of the perfume itself makes me think of Frederic Malle’s Cologne Indelebile, but with a more powerful base and more complex freshness on the opening. If you are not a fan of woody amber materials the base may bother you but if you are a fan certainly the good performance of them will please. It is a safe bet, but one that is at least coherent and well made and that has its value.

I love this! I received a sample of it with an order I placed. Its been 4 hours since I sprayed my wrists and neck and I still smell it. It is very strong at first, full of that warm vanilla bourbon and slight citrus scent. Once it dries down it becomes this wonderful orange blossom and woodsy smell. Absolutely beautiful. I am itching for a full bottle now.
***Edit 5/9/18- My SO bought me a bottle for our anniversary and it arrived yesterday, I love this scent so much that I made sure to not refresh my perfume I had on for work so I could spray it. I immediately opened the box and sprayed my neck. My boyfriend said that this scent to him it starts off as vanilla-bourbon as well and rolls into a sweet citrus-fruit scent that reminds him of fruit loops cereal (but not in a bad way), at dry down he can really smell the orange blossom and he doesn’t quite smell the woodsy notes but really enjoys all of the levels of this fragrance on me. It will be a long time favorite and I have a feeling I will be wearing it more often than anticipated.
***Edit 5/24/18 – This morning when I sprayed my perfume, I realized it reminds me of sitting on the beach and sipping a margarita!!! Yummy!

Another in V&R’s “Magic” collection and the best. This one does sparkle. It’s warm and sunny and summery. I smell gardenias, lilies, vanilla, and amber. This is very sweet and, IMO, a bit too “girly” to be unisex. “Sparkling Secret” is a winner but I don’t know if it’s worth the $220.00 price tag. There are many similar scents that cost a lot less.

It’s similar to Chance eau Fraiche by Chanel only sweeter and the citrus stays longer. It’s a bright, sweet, happy citrus. Sparkling is a good descriptive word for it. To me, it’s mainly a fizzy lime and ginger with vanilla.

Just received the pack of samples. sparking Secret is pretty, it is bright and summery, it makes me think of escale à Portofino by Dior… it is in the same vein..I do detect the orange blossom, and although it is fresh, it has a floral heart..Portofino being more lemony
I must say I like it, would be perfect for spring and summer..longevity seems ok, it has brightness , it is very pleasant…I don’t find it develops much, I don’t get much amber or vanilla. But quite liking it !!
