Description

Rima XI (“Rhyme Eleven”), introduced by Carner Barcelona in 2013, was inspired by the work of Spanish poet Gustavo Adolfo Becquer.

Rima XI
(…)
– Yo soy un sueño, un imposible,
vano fantasma de niebla y luz;
soy incorpórea, soy intangible;
no puedo amarte.
– ¡Oh, ven, ven tú!

Rhyme 11
“(…)
– I am a dream, an impossibility,
empty phantom of mist and light;
I am incorporeal, intangible I am;
I cannot love.
– Oh, come, come you!”

This spicy floral fragrance suggests a destructive power hidden beneath innocence, with gently spiced top notes of Guatemalan cardamom, Madagascan Black Pepper, Moroccan Mint and Saffron. The heart continues the spicy theme with Ceylon Cinnamon, Indonesian Nutmeg and Coriander, combined with Indian Jasmine Sambac, resting on a base of Virginia Cedar wood, Australian Sandalwood, Vanilla Absolute, Laotian Benzoin, soft amber and musk.

Rima XI is available in 50 ml or 100 ml eau de parfum The nose behind this fragrance is Sonia Constant.

SWEET should be listed as the top accord.
what is listed: warm, spicy, balsamic – I get none of that.
I smell an orange creamsicle with marshmallow fluff.
It’s not bad, it’s just very sweet, and doesn’t match the description imo.

This is the less interesting scent of this house imo. It’s a boring mix of notes quite generic for niche with soft sillage and soft projection. The notes are dull and the blend feels blur. It has cinnamon but it feels half, almost cinnamon, a shadow of this note. And the same feeling have the rest notes, half, incomplete, shadows. It feels like hundrends of other scents, it doesn’t stand out but it’s decent, safe and pleasant unisex scent with great versatility. Longevity is moderate.

This fragrance is not even remotely unisex. I would classify it as a designer women’s fragrance, rather than a niche scent. Pass.

Oh, this is good! Initially, I really get ginger and cardamon with a hint of sweetness. It is a subtle scent that mellows into a spicy, dry, almost dusty, woods. This is my ideal Fall scent. I have to agree with other reviews about the longevity. I am not sure I would invest in this, but I would love to receive it as a gift.

Amazingly, I get the same ginger biscuit opening as in Beaufort’s Lignum Vitae. Smells almost identical, and delicious.

“Spicy-fresh and floral; suitable for daily wear.”
Rima XI is a 2013 fragrance from Carner Barcelona, a Spanish perfume house that have caught my attention previously because of Cuirs. I was happy to received a small decant and decided to try this today.
On my skin, I get some mint, a dash of black pepper, ginger and some spices (probably cardamom and coriander). I also get some jasmine after some time, followed by woody notes of sandalwood and cedar. I get impressions of an after-shower/shampoo scent out of this, which isn’t bad.
It’s a pleasant scent that is suitable for daily office wear or just something I can wear on a daily basis. Wearing this after a shower wouldn’t seem like a bad idea, either. Nothing particularly distinctive or special about it but not a bad scent either.
edit: Wearing Rima XI again today and I get this impression this is what you get when you mix Andy Tauer’s L’Air du Desert Morocain with milk. It’s spicy-sweet (not candy or sugary-sweet) and it finally clicked with me what the scent reminds me of.

Starts with a blast like biscuit, but not in a nice way, its dry and to me, unpleasant. But this note disappears in 5 minutes and after 10 minutes this scents settles to something very soft and sweet, like very very mild caramel. Even with my heightened sense of smell (pregnancy) I can hardly smell it.
Definitely a skin scent, and to be honest, I wouldn’t pay its price for something I can hardly smell.
I can’t “like” or “dislike”, it’s a meh for me, but I’ll give it another go maybe when the weather is colder.

Nice and pleasant smell, light, soft, discreet, moderate longevity and weak projection. A good choice for office use. It’s not unique smell, I’ve smelt it before.. so not for me.

I got a sample of this. I admit that at first I was not sure if it would be just a like. On the 2nd wear it has turned to a love. Im not that keen in the first five minutes but it develops and just gets better and better. Its most definitely a sweetish spicey gourmand. Ive never smelt anything quite like it. The mint and saffron add a modern twist to an otherwise typical spicey aromatic fragrance. Moderate sillage longevity.

Rima XI is a cardamom-dominant sweet perfume. I cook with cardamom and make an authentic masala chai (an awesome recipe I got from a local Indian restaurant). Green cardamom has a sweet, creamy, citrusy quality about it that kind of reminds me of Fruity Pebbles. Cardamom is a spice, but it is sweet, not hot.
Other than a hint of fresh green herbs in the top notes that is used extremely sparingly, I also smell vanilla or maybe benzoin in the base.
Rima XI is unlike anything else I have ever smelled. The issue I have with it is that it seems like it is lacking something. I don’t know what, exactly, but I view this kind of like I view Byredo’s Gypsy Water. It’s too thin, and while the concept is promising, the execution is lacking imho.
So…I don’t know…if a thin, super sweet cardamom perfume sounds like more of your thing than mine, give it a whirl. The cardamom is handled very beautifully here. While I don’t necessarily want to wear it, it is a nice tribute to those little green pods.

My impression of Rima XI Carner Barcelona:
An open kitchen in summer, a place dry and airy, possibly mediterranean, furnished with wooden table and chairs. The scent of edible herbs, cardamon, cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg wafts in the air, very inviting – you know a good gourmet meal is ready.

The smell of pink candy, blended with synthetic syroupy vanilla topped up with lemon and cardamom notes. Very fleeting. Far from unique.

What a lovely concept this is. What a lovely poem.
“I am incorporeal, intangible I am;”
    Yes, you are definitely intangible.
This is, to me, a fragrance of calmness. Of complete serenity of mind. I’d go so far as to call it zen.
There is nothing overdone here. Nothing too sweet or too powdery or too oriental. Nothing loud or overbearing. There is nothing sticking out, nothing screaming, just smoothness.
The atmosphere is a temple of some exotic religion high up in the mountains. White marble pillars, silent monks meditating, some incense burning in the corners of an airy room.
Moderate warmth and inner peace, this is how I see Rima XI. More of a feeling flowing through the air, elusive and undefined.
Update: I don’t know how, as there are no notes that usually cause it, but the dry down is salty. Not too salty, in the spirit of the balance of the whole scent, but still saltier than it should be.

First you’ll feel a special scent that like a Pretzel !
After 3 minutes that scent will less .
At this moment Cinnamon, soft vanille , Cardamom who A little sour perfume and some woody notes Combined together
in this fragrance there are very spices note
so if you like spicy sweet , sexy and Provocative perfume
it is one of the sexy and Provocative perfumes i have ever seen

The initial spray is a salty popcorn note on me…very shortlived thought and turnes into a dark caramel. It is throghout the whole wear , kind of shy and skinclose. It is caramely without an overload of sugersweetnes .i’s actually kind of restrained and hold back of a scent , that never blooms but mellows….into a soft, dry nonsweet sandalwood and vanilla.
I really liked the salty popcorn note , wish it would have stayed longer….
It also has a TINY vibe of Tardes , but so faint it won’t matter really.
Ill wear this one down , mostly going to comfert me at bedtime.
This is not Carners best…Tardes is….

I had tried this on paper and been disappointed, it smelled of nothing virtually. On skin this is a different matter. I tried this in warm summer weather and I think this is an autumn winter scent really.
It went on like spices – cardomon, cinnamon, nutmeg – creating a gingerbread and wood scent and was surprisingly gourmand. I mean, really, gingerbread men were present without doubt.
The gingerbread accord lasted all the way into the drydown although is fainter by then, wearing close to the skin.
Woody notes become more prominent through the heart, with a generic soapy sandalwood similar to Sensuous or Lubin Akkad (which is apparently heresy going by the hype) at one stage which I didn’t really like but fortunately this seemed fairly short lived.
Reasonable longevity at about 8-9 hours although after an hour or two it wears close, with some sillage initially but becoming closer to skin as time went. I think this will be great in winter with the gingerbread smell.
    From a manufacturers sample.

The opening to Rima XI is so dry. I was fascinated, as it literally smelled like having a Belgian butter biscuit under my nose. I wonder what chemical combination produces that dusty, crumbly texture? I’m sure the pepper had something to so with it.
As is wears on, you definitely start to notice the nutmeg, cinammon and sandalwood, and the texture becomes more ambery and less biscuity. Eventually it smells rather generic.
As much as I was surprised by the dry biscuit opening, I can’t say it’s something I’d want to smell like.

The opening smells like marshmallows, hairspray, being in China, and rice pudding. Not unpleasant but very sweet and assertively not appropriate for most men.

very Amber and Vanilla. To sweet for a man IMO. The nice and tender Pepper opening is gone after an hour. Lasts around 5 hours in total and sillage is good.
you can find that for a cheaper Price then 120€.
It smells like you Mix Maison Martin Margiela-Replica with Acqua di Parma -Mandorlo. Short: Like a Caramel-Nut Tart in the sun!Sugga Bomb!
    Rating: 4/10

It is not natural fragrance, not unique, overdone. Start kicks into nose, trying to be pepper, something sharp and dry. No, try Wazamba if you want to know what pepper smells like.
Middle is bearable and has some interesting spice notes.
Base is very very boring, almost any fragrance at any price can have that.
Maybe it is too much amber for me.
