The rosest rose fragrance to ever rose. OMG. I prefer rose frag with something else, but this was just straight up ROSE. I like Tocca Isabel more, but I can imagine rose fans loving this one.
DO NOT use this in a tester. Once the scent spoils, it almost smells fecal.

Absolutely spectacular fresh dewy wet rose with greenery in the background. This is the greatest rose fragrance, bar none. Of course as a guy I would never wear this, but this is the greatest rose fragrance ever for women. Sillage and longevity are both great.

This one is among the few Jo Malones I would purchase and wear. I’m a rose aholic and this is a must have. Everytime I smell it I’m transported to a chilled florist room with dewy red roses everywhere. You get some slight green nuances that smell like the stem but it’s never too green. It’s still all about the rose. The beeswax brings it all together. Very simplistic and nostalgic.

I bought this because I decided I needed some Rose in my life. Jo Malone did it again. They promise you Roses and boy do they deliver. This is so true to Rose I cannot believe it. I also cannot believe it is only merely cologne. A very little bit goes a long way. The Rose note in this is very strong. I can make out the Lemon and the Honey, but the Rose note is intense.
Update: This cologne has lasted all day. I put 2 sprays on 5 hours ago and it’s still going strong on my skin. Still a very true fresh cut rose scent. This bottle should last a long time.

I have never smelled anything that smells more like a fresh red rose than this. Not in perfume form, anyways: I had a red rose scented Crayola crayon that smelled exactly like this.
This gives me major nostalgia because of the crayon association. I personally prefer the crisper Roses de Chloe, but it’s a toss up which one another person will like, because they’re both fresh roses.

This is absolutely divine; clean, refreshing, expensive smelling, invoking memories of childhood – smelling roses from the garden. I feel luxurious and uplifted wearing this. If only it lasted longer.

Green, sour, very realistic rose scent. Almost harsh, so I guess it’s been made for pure roses’ lovers.

I have never have enough of Red Roses from Jo Malone this fragrance is NOT YOUR GRAND MA taste “smell fresh and soothing to my nerves”… I am on the 4th bottles now… anytime anywhere whatever occassions… *_* This will be my signature fragrance for very very long-time.

Wow the opening spray just brings out a blast of freshly cut roses! Strong opening note of the rose but the dry down seems to have a 360 degree turn and the lemon and violet leaf notes gives the scent a green fresh smell with a hint of honey in it on my skin. Not very strong on longevity on me and it dries down to a skin scent.
Update: I did detect what the other reviewers say the foul smell in the dry down but I thought it was the tangyness of the lemon notes mixed with the mint but that is my opinion.

I’m a huge fan of rose fragrances and this one is hands down one of the most natural and beautiful. It truly reminds me of the scent of a garden full of red roses in the sunlight – the honeyed note from the beeswax gives it a little more warmth and the citrus keeps it from smelling too powdery. For me, this is the perfect everyday fragrance but can also work for special occasions.
I own quite a few Jo Malone scents and I always find they are perfect to layer together. Red Roses layers particularly well with Myrrh and Tonka for a lovely nighttime or fall/winter scent.

Tea Rose, if you want cheaper but just as good of quality. Caught a whiff of someone who smelled of roses and asked her what she was wearing and Jo Malone’s Red Roses was her answer. I told her I thought she was wearing Tea Rose. Both smell like freshly cut, dewy roses.

Took me a while to like this fragrance. When I first smell it in store I didn’t like it, it just doesn’t smell floral or rosy to me (at least the opening doesn’t). It didn’t interest me enough for me to try it on my skin, until I was given a sample of it with a purchase.
I gotta say I’m not a fan of the opening, even now. It’s citrusy and green, slightly sharp and spiky. It’s not unpleasant, just isn’t something I’m looking for in a rose scent. However after the top notes wear off, probably 10 to 15 minutes after wearing it, it turns into the most beautiful rose scent that I fell head over heels in love with. I couldn’t stop sniffing my wrist all day and eventually bought a bottle of it.
Elegant, velvety and lush, this is a realistic soliflore. Not sweet nor powdery, it’s just straight up fresh, beautiful uncomplicated rose. Great to layer with another scent or just on its own.

This is the queen of rose perfumes! Pure sweet red rose tempered by a honey vibe. Soft and smooth with great longevity. All day long it came back to “haunt” me at intervals. Not cheap, but worth the price. This is a deep and lovely true beauty.

to me it is like turkish delight roses.. waxy, velvet, deep red rose with a hint of sweetness, really nice, but unfortunately my fiance is not very convinced by this scent
    moderate to heavier silage

Victorian, beeswax and tea with lemon drinking with few distant roses on table.
On my skin at first it was green, harsh rose stems. After 10 minutes it is still rose leaves and stems with bit spicy and powdery note, and faint rose. It have vintage-y vibe and is quite victorian gothic (not necessary black, but rather brown tones). Where are all those red roses? 🙁
30 minutes later perfume became warmer, green stepped back and still no roses. Old fashioned perfume. Quite strong. Beeswax and aromatic note only adds to make this perfume more unisex and gothic. I had too high hopes and was expecting something different, more rose floral. Not good, nor bad, depends what each are looking for and what fits them, but for me disappointing. I feel I might get headache from this scent.
I wanted to like this. I tried it on fabric maybe it is my skin chemistry that doesn’t work with it. But no. In front there is some sweet-ish musky-beeswax, old fashioned vibe and only faint rose resemblance.
If you look for realistic rose this is not it, thou each review say something different. Definitely try sample first.
This is rather warm tea-drinking perfume.
If you prefer vintage-y perfumes you might love this.
If you look for deep, even gothic rosy scents this could be for you.

This is an unisex-scent to me. Dark, heavy, powerful red roses, with a hint of powder and Violet leafs. NO sweet notes at all on my skin. But gorgeous Rose parfum. Not oldfashioned, but not like the modern sweet/surypsweet rose-scents I tried. Not for a teenager, but sure for a woman or a man in the middle of everything in life. 1 spray goes a long way for many hours. 3 spray’s – clear the area, no air to breathe…

My boyfriend loves roses so I am looking into realistic rose perfumes/colognes. This one is a pretty natural scent of roses with a slight touch of lemon freshness. But rather than red roses, I smell pink roses. I have an essential oil named pink roses that smells similar to this one. This wants me to wear rose pattern clothing :3
The dry out scent is not that bad you can still smell the roses in it. Just don’t shower yourself in this scent but keep it light.

Green, bracing, very tart, fresh roses from start to finish. This is strong and lovely but the citronella may turn some people off. I personally don’t smell anything objectionable at any stage in its development. I love this one and have found a close dupe in Pacifica’s Persian Rose. Rose + lemon. Red Roses is really beautiful. I use it as a room spray and a perfume. Lasts forever.

  19. :

Really does smell like freshly cut red roses. Lush and velvety, as other reviews have said. As the wear continues, the warmness of the honeycomb exponentially steps out on my skin. Sometimes I get a whiff of citronella. Lasts about 6-8 hours. I’ll probably pick up a small bottle at some point.

I wanted to post a bit of an update. Personal preference is… well by definition very personal. I read a lot about” chemistry” in some reviews and feel that I’ve added to that line of thinking. I am posting to correct that mistake.
On fabric, on cotton, on paper- the dry down of this is barnyard. My son smells it also. It’s not chemistry. Obviously not everyone is going to be able to smell the “foulness” in the drydown. My daughter can’t and neither can my husband. My son and mother as well as two of my friends can smell the filth in the drydown.
I guess I’m suggesting that if you love this perfume check with some friends and family. I admit that whenever I smell this on anyone, it smells like urine. Definitely not a safe scent.

  21. :

Red Roses is such an accurate name for this perfume, it’s as if I’m smelling a fresh red rose and I love it.
Reading some reviews here and I’m sorry for those whose body chemistry causes a foul smell from this perfume, I’m lucky! It smells amazing on me, for hours. It doesn’t change much which I appreciate. It’s vibrant and present without being obnoxious or cloying. It smells surprisingly natural. Longevity is amazing, especially compared to other Jo Malone scents- many of my favourites from this brand disappear on my skin right away.
I’ve become a huge fan of rose scented perfumes lately and I’m eager to add this one to my collection. I would wear it all the time, day, night out, after a bed before bed…. it’s just so good! My displeasure with other rose perfumes is that they often smell like roses when you first spray, them dry down into something else, which could be interesting and nice… however I’m happy that there’s a purely rose scented perfume which stays rose scented! So excited to buy this.

I’m a real rose aficionado, and the JM Red Roses was a great disappointment for me. Promises far more than it can deliver, at a high price point.

Smells like a real bouquet of roses. Beautiful but sadly doesn’t work overly well with my skin chemistry.
My boyfriend bought this for me for Valentine’s Day last year and so I’m conflicted about whether to keep it!

I am a rose lover and was convinced I was going to love this, but I haven’t been this disappointed in quite a while. The opening was a glittering version of Tea Rose by Perfumer’s Workshop. There was a faint trace of citrus, or something slightly brightening or cooling that Tea Rose doesn’t have. I inhaled again deeply and closed my eyes, I thought it was beautiful! The middle turned into the almost twin sister of Tea Rose, which I was fine with. But 5 hours later I cannot believe the stench coming from my arm. I absolutely cannot believe it. There is a horrifying musky? urine? smell. It is warm animal urine, there, I just came out and said it. I have never had this bad of an experience before. Usually I just say well, that’s not for me, but this is the first time a perfume actually repulses me and I do not say that lightly. Thankfully I ordered a sample from ebay and not an entire bottle. Perhaps I was sold a sample that has gone off? The nearest Jo Malone counter is 2+ hours away from me, but if I ever make it there, I will retest. This is no shade to anyone who wears this, like I said I love roses, I feel bad leaving a review like this, but I value honesty in others’ reviews and am honest in mine.

If a rose by any name is just as sweet, then a fragrance that claims the name of the rose yet lacks its sweetness is no rose at all.
If you love the scent of real roses and if you are a bit annoyed with the synthetic soapy rose found in the majority of today’s fragrances, you will love this scent. This is the rose in it’s pure form, a flower with such complexity that it can serve as a complex perfume in its own right.
I am happy to say that Jo Malone successfully bottled the tears, the dewdrops of this flower. Layer this with other fragrances for a touch of photorealistic rosiness, or wear it on its own as the beautiful ladies of bygone eras would have.

Ultra realistic rose. Better quality than Perfumer´s Tea Rose and I actually prefer this to Sa Majeste, even though SL is a house god at my house. Sa Majeste leans slightly too sour for me, kind of like Annick Goutal´s Rose Absolu. Both are, of course, super nice perfumes, but This little number actually beats them in my opinion. It´s got a clarity that never gets sour and I adore how the mint awakens the senses and the beeswax rounds it all up. Very pretty, classy and easy to love. No weirdness, yet not boring. Applauding!

I love rose perfumes and Red Roses is one of the best if not the best. Lovely gothic red rose, does not change a lot on my skin but becomes more intense at th 1 to 3 hour mark, a very dark very gothic rose.Red Roses lasts for over8 hours on my skin with huge sillage for 4 hours.

I like this rose fragrance, though it’s not my favorite one. It’s not a particularly fresh rose. It has an odd sort of stewed quality to it, and the beeswax note grows big on my skin. It’s a little weird but I like it. I used to spritz it after a workout at the gym some years ago (the last time I ever belonged to a gym), a pleasant reward for getting through my hated exercise session. I like it as a whatever scent, something I’d wear for myself in a whatever mood, but not for anyone else, not for any special occasion. It seems like I’m “damning with faint praise”, but it’s nice. There are so many roses, but I can happily include this one.
p.s. Someone prior to this review said this turns “nasty” on her skin. I think the beeswax turns a little urinous. Perhaps that’s what she is getting. Beeswax as a fragrance note will do that, you know: smell a little like urine.

Love the smell of roses in the full sun.
Could tell Rock’n Rose had roses in it.
Perfumer’s Workshop Tea Rose smells like it is all roses, but without the slight sharpness of red roses.
Stella just does not have enough roses.
Nubiade has wonderful rose with carnation.
Jo Malone smells as if it is all roses, in full sunlight, with all their pungency.
Smelling Jo Malone Red Roses is rose heaven. It is Plato’s ideal red rose.
    Good silage and long-lasting
And I love the smell of the huge pink peonies in my garden; so does a friend in his. I have never been able to find a fragrance that smells anything like them: Pivoine Flora no; any peony fragrance has been insipid; not full and rich. The first time I wore Red Roses around him, he exclaimed, “Oh my gosh, you smell just like peonies! You smell great!”. And he never exclaims about anything and never says anything personal. Every time I wear it around him since, he hangs around.
But to me, its pure, exciting, euphoric red roses.

Roses, roses, roses, and more roses! I purchased this fragrance yesterday. I spritzed a little on my arm to make sure I truly liked this fragrance. It stayed on my arm all the way until the next morning and sadly it smelled like nothing more than just roses, it smelled very matronly and a bit like urine. This fragrance was such a disappointment, I own at least six other Jo Malone fragrances and I truly love them.

Rose perfume is my favorite, so when I bought a bunch of 1 ml samples recently, most were rose-based, and the first one I put on my cart was Jo Malones Red Roses. I was excited to try it today, right after my package arrived.
It’s roses for sure. Real rose. It doesn’t smell like a perfumer’s interpretation of roses-it’s the actual scent of cut roses. Quite remarkable really. It smells like you are holding a handful of fresh cut red roses. You smell the flower, but also the stem and leaves.
I should adore this. It’s exactly what I was looking for when I began my hunt. And yet, I don’t have love for it. Perhaps it’s too literal for me. It’s what I thought I wanted, but maybe I need a little creativity and another flower after all. Stella is a beautiful rose but has a hint of peony, Paul Smith has tea. Both perfumes are undeniable rose perfumes, but they have some depth that makes them “rose in the rain” or “rose in mixed bouquet” that I’m shocked to discover I wanted after all. I thought I wanted only rose, and I’m wrong.
The mint and lemon and beeswax in this fragrance are negligible but anchoring to create the whole plant, including the stem and leaves. It reminds me of my memory of the rose fragrances I loved as a child, or the rose essential oils I used to love.
It is a lovely fragrance, don’t get me wrong. Beautiful for many occasions, worth the money and worth the compliments you’ll get if it suits your skin. If you are just beginning your hunt for rose perfumes and try this first, you may have found the one, the holy grail. If you want an exact representation of rose, this is it without a doubt. . But if you have been through a lot of perfumes with roses as the main accord looking for this-when you find it you may discover that you actually like something a bit more complicated.
I’m quite conflicted as this was the fragrance of my dreams. But apparently, my dream has morphed. I am unsure whether this will go into my collection or not.

A true rose perfume, but sadly this grows nasty on my skin. It smells okay upon spritzing but after a while I smell like someone who hasn’t bathed in days then gets showered endlessly by essence of rose. I smell like a dirty rose. Does this happen to anyone too? I like it only when it’s not on my skin.

Jo Malone’s Red Roses is the brand’s most commercially successful fragrance. I have a girl friend who is  much younger than I am who works at the London Jo Malone perfume shop and she tells me she can’t count how many times people, both men and women, young and old, have asked for this fragrance. I have worn it since it’s release and have nothing but love for it. The opening is a green note, rather like coming across a rosebush. One smells the citrusy smell which is actually the note of mint, fresh and minty-green, sharp and aromatic. There’s a lemony fresh scent and starts to transition from fruity to floral quite fast. Some have called this a soliflore or a linear scent, which means it’s not very complex. It’s a perfume for day wear and quite easy to wear, modest and conservative.
The rose is absolutely gorgeous, red, velvet in texture, and honeyed at the same time. It’s that beeswax note which gives it a honey scent but to me it is evocative of a wax rose, that is an artificial rose which has been crafted as a decoration made of wax. It’s like those wax bric-a-brac you have at home, of flowers or wax fruit. But it’s neither cheap like wax fruit at your home nor old lady grandma’s home style at all. The violet or violet leaf note gives it a tart sweetness and youthful air. The violet and rose hybrid is a pleasure to smell. At the dry down this fragrance reminded me of Coty La Rose Jacqueminot which surely must have been an influence on the nose who formulated this fragrance. La Rose is a similarly sweet sickly sweet rose-violet honey-candy scent, waxy, green, citrus-floral. I don’t see the comparisons to Tea Rose which is far more herbal. This is not as herbal and goes straight into sweetness.
Red Roses makes a fine intro to the Jo Malone line if you are interested in investing in some of their perfumes. There are better ones but this is their most popular and one which has stood the test of time. This is perfect for wearing in spring and summer. It is a floral so you have to be a big rose floral fan and I think it’s a sweet and very conservative lady-like rose, but she is a young lady who wishes to impress her elders. My word, this perfume is a bouquet of sweet red roses for a beauty queen. Such a lovely dainty and very pretty red rose perfume. I wear this while going from home to home as a piano teacher. In the privacy of a home my students both male and female have always complimented me on this perfume. The only complaint I do have is that the fragrance does not last very long and it vanishes on my skin far too soon. I have to reapply often. It’s not bad but it needs to be layered with other fragrances that match up with the rose note, the honey note and violet, and I haven’t had success in finding fragrances that are going to go well with this one. At any rate, not a bad perfume.

Like the name of the fragrance
Beautiful fragrant sweet red roses, like catching whiffs of roses on rosebushes, with green notes, and aromatic chemicals that evoke roses with long stems, and rose gardens, notes of mint, violet leaf, musk, and honey. The beeswax note had me scratching my head. I wondered if it would be like honey and if it would match up with the rest of the notes and it certainly did.
Red roses starts off with green floral notes of rosebush, stems, and then does smell of realistic roses of all colors pink, yellow, white, red, but as it dries it becomes really sweet and syrupy and starts to smell more like a rose scented candle. This is exactly like some of the rose candles I have at home. It has an oddly religious air Catholic red rose bouquets presented to the Virgin Mary at a big name cathedral like Notre Dame de Paris. The honey dry down is also evocative of amber and there is also a touch of musk. Gorgeous and very well-crafted rose perfume.
I think this can be unisex and can be worn any time of the year for any social occasion. This is lightly textured and soapy and doesn’t project outwardly like one would imagine a big rose perfume would. Instead it’s soft and subdued and sits on your skin briefly without being a bother to anyone. It’s more of a rose water or fragrance mist and does require reapplying if you want to keep it on all day. Fortunately the bottle is able to fit into my handbag. I love this stuff. Womanly mature and sweet floral fragrance for all of us ladies who love red roses.

  37. :

    3 out of 5

This is a very classic rose water fragrance which wears linear and has a soft projection. I feel like this would be a better perfume for layering since it doesn’t do too well on it’s own.

  38. :

    4 out of 5

This is a linear rose soliflore, well crafted if not especially long lasting, and a big seller, for many reasons I can see. This and Penhaligon’s are among the two best I’ve smelled, and unlike most Jo Malone fragrances, this scent does not descend into a hideous play for tenacity, sacrificing ingredients and scents for large amounts of musks (I’m looking at you, Peony & Blush Suede). Great all around basic rose fragrance, decent tenacity, and I like the skin-type effect this has in the dry down, even in lotion and body creme applications.

  39. :

    4 out of 5

Get Perfumer’s Workshop’s Tea Rose for a quarter of the price and you will have pretty much the same intense rose is a rose is a rose soliflore, but less sickly. Generally, OK. Specifically, boring.
Incredible longevity and no synthetic horrors, though.

    Fragrance Review For Red Roses
    Jo Malone
    Top Notes
    Lemon Mint
    Middle Notes
    Rose Violet Leaves
    Base Notes
    Beeswax
Roses Are Red Violets Are Blue
For the hardcore rose enthusiast Jo Malone’s take on the rose is a lovely and brilliant red floral. It’s rather sweet and innocent and in fact if you have worn and enjoyed the old Coty rose masterpiece La Rose Jacqueminot, this is a bit similar and share the same notes of rose and beeswax/honey. A tender rose with a romantic air. Red Roses suit the Valentines Day lovers. This is not exactly a rose bouquet but rose petals scattered on a big king size bed for the couple who will make love on it.
The first spritz is a citrusy mint. It’s almost like candy. Smells like peppermint. The orange flavor is reminiscent of citrusy rosebush. The citrus notes embrace the red rose. This is not a showy mature or bombastic rose. It’s not Diva by Ungaro, nor the enormous green monster rose of Tea Rose. NO. This is a sweet subtle wearable rose perfume. Very modern. It’s sweetness is evocative of a young girl in love. She likes roses and she is not an old lady. She is in her 20’s and loves roses more than anything.
The rose is a note which can be found in more places than we know about. We smell roses in our neighbor’s yards, we smell roses in our hand soap, we smell roses in our bath water and even sometimes in our make up. This is a rose perfume with a sweet dripping beeswax honeyed amber goo that keeps it sweet and delicious.
I was very enchanted with this fragrance and find it to be absolutely gorgeous. It is true however that I have discovered better rose perfumes. This is not bad it’s just a bit too simple and linear. It goes from citrus to rose to honey in less than 3 hours. The saving grace is the additional violet scent. It’s a bluish purple violet that provides the scent with an inky starchy sweetness that comes from violet extract. Very fragrant and at times it almost wants to take over. This is a well paired violet and rose perfume. Sometimes it smells green but it’s not what I would call a green cabbage rose. It’s definitely purse roses in bloom.
Beautiful, sweet and elegant. The reddish delicate rose petals are almost visible when you inhale the fumes. It’s so good. I also like the matching bath oil. I can never have enough roses in my bath. Wear this for the day time or night time on a romantic date. Casual and formal at the same time. There is nothing off about this perfume. If you don’t care for roses then don’t bother.
This is strictly for rose fans.

I love everything about this Jo Malone Red Roses. I can smell the realness of a sharp rose when I first put it on but then later I can definitely smell Carnations which I love too. It last all night on me. I am almost out of this wonderful perfume and will ask for some for Valentines Day. I thought rose fragrances were old hat until my daughter surprised me with this beauty I love it so much.

Yes, this is it! The perfect rose perfume! I adore it! It’s fabulous. It’s roses. I love roses. Of all types, colours, perfumes, feel – there are so many gorgeous smelling roses. This is the most gorgeous, true to life, roses in my mother’s garden rose, of all the perfumes I have tried. It’s glorious. Not sickly at all, just rich and velvety and deep. Beautiful. Jo Malone makes such lovely perfumes.

The perfect rose scent as rose scent go. In fact the ultimate rose scent if this is what you like. The key is not to spray too much or else it will become sickly. I love the way roses have that sort of old fashioned, vintage smell which I think is a good thing. Perfect for young women who love all things vintage and girly and at the same token also perfect for a mature woman who loves a good floral.

  45. :

    5 out of 5

this is a nice full red roses scent. it is interesting and not granny like.
however i do not think it is young enough for someone in her twenties. it is slightly more mature rose and not too sweet that would be amazing when you are at the prime of your life in your 30’s and 40’s. that is not to say that someone at 25 like myself can not wear it. its just something i would imagine my more mature self would wear in a few years time. you would expect this from the house of jo malone though for its level of sophistication. the scent is fresh and would be amazing as body creme and bath oil which i have.

Sweet pure 100% flowery red rose. For being so simple its actually kind of nice, and its that rare Jo Malone scent that lasts quite awhile on. Thumbs up

Like a lot of the Jo Malone colognes, this didn’t last very long on my skin, and I really didn’t detect any citrus as a separate note, just rose – but it was initially a nice fresh rose (pleasant, I thought). That quickly wore into a rather musty smelling rose (almost mouldy or slightly ‘composty’, in fact it had the same unpleasant vibe as the floral notes in Angel have on my skin), and I guess that was the beeswax note coming through. . Not something I can wear on it’s own, but can possibly be layered to mask the less pleasant aspects ( I’m thinking lavender and sandalwood, maybe).

The smell of Red Roses made me feel intoxicated! This is an exciting, sweet rose, like if a fresh, dewy rose was on stimulants and all amped up. I’m thinking it’s the lemon and maybe the sweetness of Honey/beeswax, but however it happened, I am a fan. So …Jo Malone takes this rose and adds a fantasy dimension to it making it somehow more sensory-pleasing. These roses are at a really good party and I want to be invited!
Edit: I’m bummed because as much as I love it my 6 year old son and husband dislike it. Hubby says it smells like his Grandma’s bathroom.

From the initial sniff, you will get a burst of zesty lemon. After a few minutes, the scent of freshly cut red roses surfaces. For me, the lemon makes the rose scent really fresh, that’s why this perfume veers away from the typical rose-based “granny” perfume stereotype. It is perfect for romantic nights out. 🙂

It is the scent I was going for when I tried to make perfume as a little girl in the Irish countryside – cerise rose petals and water from the garden hose all shook up in a tin. Red Roses is a delight to smell, but I have never felt that it has lasted any length on my skin. Straightforward if dreamily nostalgic, it is a scent without legs.

If you like rose based perfumes and the recreated fantasy rose note in perfume, you’ll love this. Of course it’s very hard to recreate a natural rose scent although some fragrances come pretty close to it. This is a sweet honeyed rose. It’s got an additional violet leaf violet note and some beeswax/honey as well as mint. This smells exotic and more on the Oriental rose side. It’s not too girly and candied nor too powdery. It’s an elegant rose to wear for your night out, for a romantic date or dinner. To me it’s more a fruity and musky version of Sa Majeste La Rose. Both scents are pretty similar. Beautiful interpretation of a rose.

I was on the hunt for a wedding fragrance when I came across this scent. While I don’t think this is exactly what I am want for that occasion, I will be asking for a 30ml as a present at some point, because it is so very special.
The associate at Saks layered this on top of the Jo Malone orange blossom body cream. They complimented each other beautifully, with the rose taking centre stage. It was bright and fresh, but somewhat overpowering for me at first- I think I would spray with a lighter hand than she did. That said, the opening notes really are the freshest, truest, not-old-lady rose scent I have come across.
The drydown was what captivated me. About an hour later I was sitting in an armchair at Starbucks and got a whiff of an incredible warm honey-rose note as I lifted my mug to my lips. It was the Red Roses perfume, which had faded to the lushest Turkish delight sweetness.
After testing this, I also revisited Roses de Chloé, which has been on my wish list for years. I’ve taken it off my wish list now, because this is the only true rose scent I n
