I’m honored to write the 1st review of this! Let me start by saying the EDT says it’s 13% oils on the bottle, putting in safely in EDP range as far as strength. Also this company touts their fragrances are “98-99% natural” so there’s a plus.
That said, it doesn’t quite smell like the naturals I’m used to (thinkin of House of Matriarch), it has a lighter feel to it (in a good way) and a less ‘out there’ feel to the notes. It’s different but not SO different as to be an acquired taste.
The scent: opening has (to my nose) a big burst of black pepper (probably the tobacco?), cardmom spicy freshness, and tea-like champaca blossoms. There’s a pinch perhaps of lavender in the background. My overall impression is a campfire and fall leaves crunching under foot. It feels like it belongs in autumn, cool air, and smoke to me. This smoky leaf vibe mixed with warmth, dry tea leaves, and cardamom is a delightful combination! Think freshly plucked tobacco leaves, just sun dried to a nice golden brown, vs pipe tobacco. It has an extremely realistic feel, and it took me more than 1 wearing to pinpoint that scent (having smelled real tobacco here in North Carolina, USA, where we grow a ton of it).
I’ll report back once I’ve observed longevity/sillage. An instant ‘really like’ for me. It reminds me of something I have yet to put my finger on… I’m still deciding how much I really like the smell of Champaca though, so that remains to be seen. I also think it leans toward masculine due to the strong suggestion of smokiness and almost woodiness it carries. (EDIT: It reminds me of real dried tobacco leaves, and an old box someone I knew had that might’ve held such leaves from how similar it smells!)
    Boyfriend’s impression: “Smells very medicinal.”
Female friend’s impression: “You smell like a man. A good man.” (?? haha)
