A pretty scent inspired by purple energy and florals. Its Sillage is low and longevity is 4 hrs. If you are looking for a fairy-like experience in a scent..this is a good candidate.

Q80 your review makes perfect sense to me. The storied elements that come through with these wholly natural aromas are deeply touching. It’s strange but perhaps not so strange that nature has a way of being dirty and exultant at the same time. I wore purple reign and actually “got” the scent through some kind of spiritual epiphany. Who knew? I suspect Tanja knows!

I agree with the comparison with Kerbside Violet. Purple Reign starts ”dirty” but become colder and then totally disappear in a matter of minutes. A let down because it was promising with all these purple flowers.

Wow! The first half hour Purple Reign smells closely to Kerbside Violet to me…gradually they start to go in different directions, but I was surprised at first blast. I really was hoping for more of a sultry, warm fragrance with more opoponax and all of those purple flowers…but it’s just to much green violet leaf and iris, as much as I love it, but here it’s like getting hit in the face with a snow ball.
I think the whole composition could have used more of the white florals to warm it up, and I would have liked to seen more lilac in there as well. Overall it’s not bad, just cold as ice. I expected more development…

There was so much orris root in here that it smelled rooty and and dusty and weirdly similar to almonds. It just didn’t come together for me, a rare misstep on the part of Tanja Boechig for the reliably wonderful April Aromatics line.
Edit: I recently tried Miller Harris’ La Pluie and I think I have a better understanding of what Tanja was going for here. La Pluie smells like Iris after a light rain, a garden’s exhalation of fresh, tender sweetness. It still smells bread-y up close but from a distance there’s a sheerness to the composition. I’m guessing that without aromachemicals the needed lift just isn’t there or it becomes much more dependent on skin chemistry.

This reminds me of Spring. You know, the dirty smell of Spring when it’s still quite cold and wet. It is somehow a sad scent. Depressive, even. This smells like wet dust or dirt to me, then very metallic. The violet leaf and/or orris root is so dominating it’s disturbing.
What I do like about this scent is the fact that it’s all natural and seems to be well composed.

Purple Reign is a watery purple solid crystallized rock. it’s like a gradient transparent between white to purple as i can smell the metallic watery on a purple crystal rock. i can detect a watery violets, a bit of iris, slight aquatic, maybe some lilac and osmanthus. It’s a bit disturbing to me somehow cause i dislike metallic notes but remains interesting as it shouts quality.
It doesn’t last long but gives quite a tender feeling on my skin.
Purple Reign reminds me of the “Snow Queen” the original Danish movie “Snedronningen” specially at the end of the movie when Gerda is searching for Kay in the Queen’s castle while the queen is sitting on her throne, the snow queen’s castle smell is purple reign.

I get iris, violet and lavender. It’s not the usual lavender we found in Jicky or Caron Pour Un Homme but in Reverie au Jardin by Tauer Perfumes. Take the iris from Iris Silver Mist by Serge Lutens and lavender from Reverie au Jardin by Tauer Perfumes and add in violet. That’s basically what I get. It’s a simple, natural and soothing scent. Despite its below average projection, it’s quite persistent on my skin.
