Description

Inspired by a laid-back coastal road trip with the windows down amid the fresh sea breeze, legendary “nose” Harry Frémont created a scent that is unique, long-lasting and wearable for any occasion – day or night, casual or formal. This PREMIUM BLEND fragrance opens with a cool, exhilarating surge of crisp bergamot, fresh lime peel and wild spearmint. The effervescent heart of the scent is marine and refreshingly green with an atmospheric curio of salty sea splash, Mediterranean rosemary and enticing violet leaves. The background evokes a rustic infusion of fresh musk, driftwood and woody vetiver leaving a trail that is unrecognizable yet undeniably addictive.

Premium Blend by Original Penguin is a Aromatic Aquatic fragrance for men. This is a new fragrance. Premium Blend was launched in 2016. The nose behind this fragrance is Harry Fremont. Top notes are bergamot, lime peel and spicy mint; middle notes are sea notes, sea salt, green notes, rosemary and violet leaf; base notes are musk, driftwood and vetiver.

It’s fresh. It’s sharp. It’s ice cold. It smells exactly how the bottle looks. It’s not in your face, great for intimate settings. I think everyone should have it. I got mine off of Amazon for $20. It is impossible to go wrong, especially for the price. Don’t think twice, just buy it. Once you smell it, you’ll understand.

This smells like a more refined version of Nautica Aqua Rush. Perfumer is the same (Harry Fremont) and the notes are pretty similar. Aqua Rush seems to be the initial idea and Premium Blend is the finished product. Perfect for hot summer days and suitable for work and casual settings.

I was amazed when I first put my nose close to Premium Blend’s sprayer, as it gave me a nice feel of already smelling this type of scent somewhere in the past. To me, this fragrance is like an ice cold smell with a salty, beachy and vacation feel to it. My nose gets also a hint of sweetness, probably thanks to violet leaf note.
The bottle feels and looks premium with its shape, heavy weight and frozen pattern. It obviously is describing the smell you get out of it. The box itself is also the most beautiful I have ever seen, so I do not even recommend to throw it away.
Premium Blend does perform very well on my skin. 4 sprays applied on my neck ensure around 10 hours of longevity with a moderate projection. The scent is noticeable to my nose and people close to me for the whole time of wearing it.
Excellent product and value for money.

I blind-bought this. Very nice scent. It is an oddly challenging scent with a seemingly rubber note in there somewhere or another. I will only be wearing this on vacations to the beach, as it is super salty to my nose. I get 6 hours at a minimum. Slap some of this on right after showering and moisturizing, and I bet you could get more.
DO NOT go apes*** on the neck/chest as it can be headache-inducing if too much is smelled up close.

This cologne just comes and goes on me, but it is very cheap and smells amazing. I don’t mind re-spraying this on myself every hour.

I am absolutely blown away at how pleasing this fragrance is. Very aromatic. The lime, Bergamot, and spicy mint make this thing lovable.

Soothing. This is such a cool laid back frag for the beach.
    Safe for work, too.

This is a very fresh, transparent, and uplifting fragrance. A lot like Nautica Voyage or Tommy Bahama Set Sail St. Barts, or any other fresh cheapie. For someone who has a couple of bottles of fragrances, this is a worthwhile addition to your collection. If you use words like “niche,” “sillage,” and “top notes,” this one will probably bore you.

It is a quality freshie. Projection and performance or weak, but, its a freshie. The smell is pleasant enough. The salty notes come out and the mint is very much a faint undertone, but you do get the vibe of mint if not the actual smell.
It’s a safe blind buy. It is definitely worth the $20 you will spend on it.

Having gotten bored of Tommy Bahama’s Set Sail St. Barts, I was looking for something with that same beachy feel, but with more versatility. After finding this baby, I did my homework and here’s what I got:
    1) The combination of notes looked intriguing (ie. driftwood?)
    2) Made by the same nose behind Grey Vetiver, Polo Sport and Michael Kors – Harry Fremont
    3) Won the 2017 Fragrance Foundation award in the Men’s Popular category (although, the 2016 winner was Nautica Life Energy – ouch)
    4) Inexpensive online
    5) Unanimously good reviews
So yeah, I blind bought it. And after giving it a spray, my initial reaction was “ooo, man this is good.” But let’s talk about the bottle first.
This is one of the few fragrances I have encountered that matches the bottle to the scent PERFECTLY. The label on the front is actually transparent, so you can see the tube on the inside. The rest of the bottle is frosted and so is the cap, giving it an almost rubber-like texture. The 2-tone colours are fantastic and the entire presentation fits the fragrance theme of “sophisticated minimalism.”
So what does it smell like? Well it’s very aromatic – almost transparent – as the first thing you get is an equal blend of violet leaf, bergamot, lime and mint – but not peppermint like in Kryptomint – more of a “wistful” type of mint – masterfully blended with the tart citrus.
After a few minutes, the violet leaf takes the front stage as well as what must be that “sea splash” accord, blended with a barely noticeable amount of sea salt. The effect is to add familiarity and a dash of sweetness, but with that citrus-mint trio always in the distant background to balance it out. And if driftwood is in here, heck, I would never know. This stuff has absolutely no woody qualities whatsoever – just like a beach.
Sadly, on me, the longevity is average – about 5 hours tops, and the projection is below average – one foot for about 1-2 hours – on par for a freshie.
But honestly, I really don’t know where to place this one. Originally, I described this as the embodiment of casualness, leaning more towards the “good” side of generic. But an hour into the drydown, something in here reminds me of the smell of glue – if that smell was made into a bathroom cleaner. No foolin’.
Overall, I think this could be a good scent for those people who are just starting out or perhaps don’t like wearing fragrances. Although I find the opening relatively intriguing and pleasant, there really isn’t enough here to turn heads or even garner compliments. In fact, it has that unfortunate quality of being supremely forgettable.
Still, the great part is that from the bottle, you get exactly what you see – a fresh, initially frosty, minimalistic fragrance that’s both tart and leafy, with a beach-like familiarity. It’s more interesting than St. Barts, reminiscent of CK Eternity, but not as appealing as Nautica Voyage – exactly what you would expect from Original Penguin. That’s my 2.5 cents.
Scent – 6/10 – good opening, boring drydown
    Longevity – 5/10
    Projection – 4/10
Overall – 6/10 – There are better cheapies out there

The smell is ok and lacks depth, the presentation is ok, and the longevity is none existing.
    The price is great however.

This is strong, bright, and completely refreshing. Perfect summer scent for desert dwellers like me. It’s almost harsh at first with a blast of spearmint and citrus but it mellows out quickly. Drydown is just as eric.cius describes: beachy. I get sea salt and driftwood and wafts of aromatic rosemary and sage. A very pleasant, mild spearmint atmosphere is present through each stage. Longevity is EXCELLENT…I get 4-6 hours from it. Totally underrated, completely safe for a blind buy. You can’t not like this 🙂

While looking to add to my summer wardrobe I came across this entry from original penguin.
First off the bottle is great. Heavy, frosted, reminds me of a bottle of vodka…Chopin, or Belvedere.
Upon first application I was mildly disappointed. It started very generic. Not that it smelled bad, it just reminded me of a bunch of fragrances.
Where the beauty of this fragrance is is in the drydown. It ends up smelling so beachy. Not lotion or coconut, but like a beach. Maybe it’s the driftwood note, not sure but as I keep catching wafts and it smells awesome.
It’s also a great lasting fragrance. I get 8 hours from this easy.
    Great price
    Great smell
    Great presentation
    Great longevity
    8/10

Everyone who has smelled this has at a minimum liked it on me. My younger friends insist that it is one of my better ones.
