Description

Armani Prive Pivoine Suzhou is a new fragrance of the Les Eaux collection and designers of the house of Giorgio Armani were inspired by the beautiful gardens of Asia. The new composition depicts harmony between elegance, freshness and long-lasting sensuality accentuated with delicate floral notes of peony and rose.

The new EDT is a true celebration of one of the favorite Chinese flowers—peony. Peony flower symbolizes happiness, prosperity and grace, and provides a very feminine scent. The new composition incorporates the natural perfection of this flower which, with its gentleness and freshness of lush petals evokes the purest feelings.

ARMANI PRIVE PIVOINE SUZHOU opens with notes of juicy mandarin, pink pepper and raspberry which when blended, ensures a spicy-fruity introduction. Floral notes of peony in the heart are enhanced with essences of rose and May rose absolute, followed by amber, musk and patchouli.

The name of the fragrance connects the femininity of peony flower with one of the most enchanting cities—Suzhou. Suzhou is situated in the Southeast of province Jiangsu in East China. The city is full of canals and bridges, and its gardens (Classical gardens of Suzhou) are on the list of the world heritage of UNESCO. It is said to be the Venice of the East. Fragrance Pivoine Suzhou arrives as 100 ml Eau de Parfum. Its promotion takes place in December 2014, just before the holidays.

Pivoine Suzhou was created by Cecile Matton and Julie Masse.

very simple pleasant flowery perfume. a good balance between peony and rose, but nothing breathtaking. As a peony lower i’m still in search of “that fresh peony from the bush” scent because this is not one of a kind. Although it’s quite nice in my opinion it’s simplicity does not match the price..

    Smells like fancy laundry detergent.

my husband just loves it and keeps saying this to me whenever he smells it.
i bought it and i wasn’t very sure of my choice but with time i have changed my mind a little bit specially for my husband’s sake.
fresh & fruity notes that lay above rosy notes; it is a good perfume but truly very sharp and sweety for me.
its silage is genuinely enormous and its longevity is very long.

My husband loves light, sweet, slightly floral fragrances on me so he brought this as a gift. While some may say its too simple, I feel it is quite lovely. On my skin, it is a beautiful slightly jammy rose with nectar and a light musk rounding it out. Very beautiful. Very feminine. I can see myself absolutely loving this in the warmer months especially. I have many scents that are more complex but my husband doesn’t quite “love” those- but he adores this on me, and shows me as such 🙂 It has replaced his long standing previous favorite of Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom and Honey on me… I must say I do prefer the Armani overall… simply beautiful! Longevity and Silage are moderate, but I am telling you, its so refreshing- I don’t mind at all. Lasts longer than the Jo Malone…

Pivoine Suzhou is a very linear scent. I get why people like it. It is not offensive or an “in your face” scent. Kinda sweet but not too much, so i find it to be quite balanced. It’s been more than 6hrs since i sprayed it and it still smells in a peppery-peony-raspberry way.
I was expecting to be wow-ed by this. For the price, I expected it to have some uniqueness, to be a stand-out perfume, i wanted to smell the luxury. It is plain and a bit boring for my taste. It would make a nice office or romantic date scent but, it is just not the scent that will take you on a travel every time you wear it.

Peony is not a note that tends to agree with me at the best of times. I avoided peony dominant scents for many years due to the way they reacted with my skin chemistry, however the popularity surrounding Pivoine Suzhou from the private Giorgio Armani line had me intrigued. Many reviewers described it as both sexy and romantic, and seeing that it has been composed using high quality ingredients, I thought it time to test this little number.
I am pleased to say that I enjoyed Pivoine Suzhou immensely. It opened rather crisp and rosy on my skin after the first initial spray. There was a hint of sweetness in this composition all thanks to the raspberry, however this sweetness is later tamed by the pink pepper and the patchouli.
The peony accord has admittedly been overshadowed by a large dose of two different roses, rose de mai and a pink shrub rose. Pivoine Suzhou is definitely more rose-centric than the name implies.
I really enjoyed the contrasting nature of this fragrance. In the early stages of wearing Pivoine Suzhou it’s a crisp, dew-kissed interpretation of a lush garden, however towards the drydown it’s a richer, darker, somewhat spicy rose scent. Such a dynamic scent would really suit the mid-seasons such as Spring and Autumn.
I look forward to testing Pivoine Suzhou further over the coming Spring months. So far I have been pleasantly surprised and I hope to continue to enjoy this fragrance.

This is my first review. A freind of ours dropped by and brought some beautiful pink and dark red peonies . These were from her backyard originally planted by a garden enthusiast, unlike the commercialized peonies, they were beautiful and fragrant. I placed them in a vase on the table, the entire house was filled with the beautiful and sweet aroma of peonies. As I smell them, I tried to link the fragrance with the peony perfumes I am familiar with, I realized pivoine Suzhou was the one captured the most of the delicate spirit of a blooming peony, you can almost visualize the aroma rising from the delicate petals into the air, leaving a trail of sweetness. Although I still don’t get the connection between suzhou (a city next to shanghai in the southeast) and peonies, these flowers are typically growing in central part of China. Suzhou is more renown for its Chinese gardens.
There are fragrances screaming peonies, i.e., the newest Peonia Nobile Edizione Speciale by Acqua di Parma and Jo Malone peony and suede. If you love the flowers for its delicate nature, this is the perfect perfume.

My new favorite evening fragrance. It opens with warm raspberry scent and stays quite linear on the skin which I tend to prefer. It stays on the way it sprays on 🙂
If you prefer florals, this may not be for you. Though it contains peony, I don’t smell it in the least. It’s a sophisticated, elegant gourmand. All through my 20s I wore Viva La Juicy and now, at 35, finally found my night time fragrance as a grown woman 🙂
PS – Men love it, should you care about that sort of thing. It’s feminine, comforting and draws the right type of attention.
PPS – I like that this fragrance only has slightly above 100 reviews (at the time Im writing this). I prefer not to smell like every other girl.

To me, this starts with all berry: juicy and balmy berries that is quite sweet. Unfortunately, I do not get a lot of the florals. I would really love to discern the peony and rose as those notes seem very lovely.
Overall, Pivoine Suzhou is a sweet, feminine fragrance that is not unique and rather basic, but still pleasant.

This is up front blast of sweet fruit (raspberry, ripe red berries) with a hint of jammy rose and a little musk to deepen it. If you like really fruity florals then you’ll love this. I am not a fan. Slightly reminds me of the Guerlain La Petite Robe series.

Reminds of drydown of original Amor amor albeit less sweet. What you see in notes is what you get plus slightly watery fruit candy note. No suprises and I doubt it’s chemistry dependent. Although it’s a very pleasant fruity floral and longevity is not bad, it’s simple and bit boring.

I was really excited about this but this becomes a huge disappointment. I love sweet note, however this is a sharp, coy, candy sweet, almost teenager type of perfume. And sadly it smells kind of cheap.

Beautiful, divine rose and peony. Perfection.

This is a lovely peony/rose scent with some pepper and musk notes. I Think it is happy and fresh, but also sophisticated.
It is a typical day time fragrance for me, all year round, but maybe more of a spring and summer scent. The pepper note makes it a bit more unique than other similar scents I have tried.
Is it worth the hefty price tag? Well for me it is, but to be honest it is not as long lasting as the other scents I own from the Armani Privé line. 2-3h maximum on my skin. The sillage is also moderate. Because of this it might not be worth the price, but then again it is a lovely scent if you are into this type of florals.

You must be anosmic to the pepper note (it must be too strong to many noses), so you smell it just for an instant (or not smell at all). This happens to all of us when the note is too strong ( strong vanilla is not perceived by me) or you have some kind of problem with it ( I can’t smell tThe One because of the prominet peach note).Although I don’t feel what I preach blind buys are risky because things like that happen.

I have bought and smelled a lot of perfumes. I was looking for a new scent that was sophisticated and elegant. When I smelled this I was happy that I found something unique and fresh. For the price of $195 this perfume is NOT worth it!
The smells last for the moment you spray it and its over then and there!
I know a lot of people say you become immune to the scent and cannot smell it, well, other people who are around me cannot smell it either.
I have never had an experience where I couldn’t smell the perfume right after. It was such a waste of money 🙁

This is precisely what fresh, real peonies smell like to me.
I was handed this on a paper strip at a department store without even knowing what it was or what the perfume was called and I was instantly transported back to my childhood summers in our garden when I’d bury my nose in my mother’s peonies. They couldn’t have hit the smell of my childhood peonies more spot-on. They were just the normal peonies we get in Europe, so maybe the peonies you get in America smell different.
I have yet to try this on my skin but sadly on paper the initial peony blast was all but gone after less than an hour.

Hmm, what to say about this fragrance… well, for starters, I walked in the rain from Saks to the Armani boutique in order to get it, after smelling it the weekend prior and continually thinking of it
Pivoine Suzhou is a light fruity floral that is subtle enough to wear to work and sophisticated enough so as not to be childish or too girly. On me, I get a mix of rose & peony with a soft amber base. The pink pepper does not amplify on me, which is relieving.
Lasting power is decent, though I do tend to overspray, as it does stay close to the skin. Bottle is pretty and hefty, though I wish the top were at least metal (it is black plastic), and I also wish that the Prive scents were offered in smaller sizes also, as the price point is a bit prohibitive.
Overall, I like Pivoine Suzhou quite a bit and really enjoy it for the workplace.

I was surprised to read the tepid reviews on this one. I think it might be one of the loveliest fragrances I’ve ever smelled.
It’s a fruity-floral but much more dignified than the sweet overblown fruity-florals that seem to be everywhere.
On me it smells like juicy nectarine, rose, peony, amber, and faintly, pink pepper. Really fresh, warm, uplifting.
I’m not finding it weak as another commenter noted. On me it’s still going strong 5 hours after application.

Sweet and fruity. A very simple combination of ingredients that do not have anything to do with peony. The scent disappeared from my skin an hour later. It’s too expensive for such poor longevity.

Suzhou(soo-chow) is and was and ought to be nothing to do with peony. Trust me the only flower related is osmanthus.
There are ancient chinese poem printed on the package of pivoine suzhou, which was inspired by and written for the beautiful peonies of Luoyang. Approximately 940 kilometers away.
It’s like a perfume named Miami Snow or Alaska Tropicals. Totally weird.
Matter of fact, pivoine suzhou is more like hairspray suzhou or raspberry suzhou to me. Oh did I just said raspberry, never seen it in suzhou or elsewhere in china.
    Disappointment.

  22. :

Huge disappointment, not worthy this price. Just cheap raspberry and too common roses, barely peony. You can find this things alike in any drug store.

A little on the feminine side, but that doesn’t stop me from wearing this gem.
Easy 10/10, one in a million for rose-based perfumes; perfect mix of rose, raspberry and a little peppery zest to even things out. Big time winner!

I agree with aleksylvester that this is perfectly unisex.
On my (masculine) skin the mandarin citrus and raspberry dominate the opening for a good 45 minutes but neither is sweet at all; instead it opens very fresh, a little spicy and a bit tart.
After about an hour I can begin to detect the musk and amber, but I’m yet to get much of a definite sense of either rose or peony (which I admit to being not very familiar with). The heart is sort of floral in nature, but to me the floral aspect is less noticeable or specific than the fruity opening or the musky amber drydown stage.
There also appears to be some kind of green grass type of accord that on my skin almost turns minty. I guess it could be the patchouli, but it smells rather more like a type of vetiver to my nose.
This is a very unique scent from the Armani Prive Les Eaux collection.
By the way this is not an eau de parfum (as listed above), it’s listed as an eau de toilette concentration on the packaging and on the bottom of the bottle.
EDIT: I had been scratching my head about what this reminded me of when all of a sudden it came to me; Manifesto Isabella Rossellini. Although this is a bit fresher and Manifesto is missing the raspberry note, this new Armani Prive is in the same style. Beautiful!

I was so excited that one of my favourite perfume lines has launched a fragrance that named after my home town – Suzhou. The official launch is much later in Australia than some of the other major cities but I am fortunate enough to get hold of it on the first day of its arrival in Adelaide.
The first smell gave me the impression that it has well captured the essence of my home town – which is a place that is famous for her delicate nature and beautiful women. Legend says that the whisper of a woman from Suzhou will melt your soul. That’s what the fragrance has reminded me of as well. The opening is fresh and sweet. After it has settled on my skin I really started to enjoy the softness and femininity of the floral notes. Peony or not, it really does not matter to me. Right now after about half an hour and warmth of amber and musk became more dominant, but not overpowering.
Overall a very beautiful and feminine fragrance!

Very interesting scent – perfect balance between rose and peony.
In my opinion, the scent is unisex and suitable for everyday use.
    Bravo Armani!
