Description

Perry Ellis is launching the new fragrance for men named Perry Ellis and with the motto “Be very. Like Perry.” The aim of this fragrance is to highlight tradition and accentuate spontaneity. “This is the first fragrance that we fully launched, from flacon design over composition to the advertising campaign,” says Matt Cronin, marketing director in the house of Perry Ellis.

The composition is signed by perfumer of the house of Givaudan—Claude Dir. It opens with scents of bitter orange, cardamom, coriander and clary sage. The heart incorporates fir tree, mint, cedar and lavender on a base of sandalwood, patchouli and white moss warmed by tonka beans, amber and musk. The fragrance is envisaged as a reflection of the Perry Ellis style and represents the modern, free-spirited man.

Perry Ellis EDT arrives on the market on August 1, 2013!

No need to pay top dollar for BdC. This does the job just as good if not even a tad better. Longevity is not great but neither is BdCs.

This smells good. Longevity is short, but price allows liberal sprays. It is very pleasant and lighter than BdC. Perfect for daytime use. I do not love BdC but love this instead. It is its own smell in the drydown. It stays light and citrus/woody. The bitter orange in this smells better to me than the grapefruit of the original. Perfect for a casual gathering with friends and colleagues,.

Picked this up at TJMAXX for 12 dollars yes 12 dollars….blind bought it. I havent smelled BDC but I think this smells good for a GYM,everyday, work, chores, hanging out at the house wear….you get the point. Upon 1st spray it was fresh with citrus….it mellowed pretty quickly to a nice scent….i havent really gotten into the notes or taken the time to really knit pick this, but my nose says its a good pick up for 12 bucks….gonna get 2 more before it get’s picked off the shelf at TJs……

I bought this one from watching reviewers on YT talking about it’s similarity to Blue De Chanel.
In the opening I found it appealing.I got orange, cedar, tonka bean, sage. All pretty decent until 20 -30 mins later in the dry down.I tested it a few times but it has this synthetic vibe.
Sort of in the BDC arena but nobody can copy Blue De Chanel including at least 4 other frag makers I’ve tried not even Alexandria.
Incidentally I have that one for sale make me an offer if interested it lasts 24 hours unreal! Potent as heck, and nice but again some note I don’t like.

Not precisely the same as Bleu de Chanel, but one of closest I’ve experienced. And given the significant difference in notes between the two, I’m frankly shocked at just how close this actually comes. It’s right there with Acqua Essenziale and Tag Him as what to my nose would resemble a handful of nice BdC flankers.
To my nose, if you take BdC and substitute bitter orange/lavender/cardamom for the trademark grapefruit/pink pepper/ginger kick, and then remove the weighty incense, then add a bit of light musk to the dry down, this is what you come up with – Bleu de Chanel Sport, if there was such a thing.
On its own merits, I think Perry Ellis is a fine, clean scent – IMO one of their finest to date. On the down side, it does come across as very generic, owing to the justified popularity of BdC and its myriad clones. But don’t let that diminish what a terrific scent this stuff is – especially for a typically low Perry Ellis price point. Two thumbs up!

Receievd as a free sample. Low sillage/longevity, fragrance very generic.

I think Perry Ellis is a great fragrance on it’s own and a good alternative to Bleu de Chanel. Sometimes the incense in Bleu de Chanel gets to me and it’s nice that Perry Ellis doesn’t have it. I get great performance (8+hrs) with 4-5 sprays on my skin and shirt and you can’t beat the price you can find it for these days. I recommend checking it out.

This is from skin testing but it don’t smell like Bleu de Chanel to me, maybe if it was left out in the light for too long due to the bitter orange. Instead I get something like Aqua Velva Ice Blue but with more florals. I didn’t like it. If you want a Perry Ellis Bleu de Chanel dupe, go with Cobalt instead. Trust me.

This smell is very similar to bleu de chanel but i didnt own bleu so i dont think on the longevity because i only got a maximum of 3 hours wearing it

Bought this one week ago for 29$, Actually its not a bad colonge, comparing with BDC it’s a good buy, Coz BDC is quite expensive and it does not project masively like a beast.
good compliments when people are around you. nice work fragrance, 6-8 sprays does the job. last 5-6 hours. re-spray. for more performance.
I think during summer this will project more.

I can smell only a bitter orange out of it.

As far as matching Bleu De Chanel, this gets the top notes right, and does so beautifully, however, that’s all there are in this scent – just top notes. It doesn’t last more than 4 hours, and it fades away to nothing.
If you work in close quarters with others, or if you share a cubicle with someone else, or if Bleu De Chanel sits too heavy on your skin due to the incense notes, then this might be a good option for you, so long as you’re alright with the longevity issues. This would be a good choice for an interview if you want to smell nice without too much fear of wearing too much cologne.
This isn’t a bad scent, it definitely has its place and serves its purpose for the right person, but it’s not exactly a full replacement for Bleu De Chanel. Also, if you wouldn’t mind a sporty spin on Bleu De Chanel, I can also recommend Nautica Life, which lasts 5-6 hours and is pretty cheap as well ($13 for 3.4oz).

    Good fragance, low performance 😉

This is ABSOLUTELY a Bleu De Chanel alternative. It is done very well. In my opinion it is a bit better than Armaf Tag Him. Its fantastic for the money. Perry Ellis puts out alot of clone type colognes and I must say… They get it done very well for the most part. This is no exception. The performance is eh .. average .. But so is Bleu De Chanel .. And its a third of the price or less!

I get the comparison to BdC because of the citrus opening but that is where the similarities end. I would say this is a dumbed down version.
I bought this blind because of the reviews I heard but it is nowhere near as good as BdC. It doesn’t really develop at all, just the top notes fade away to nothing. BdC has a very nice dry down but Perry Ellis has nothing much to speak of.
Yesterday I compared both, one on each hand, and I would have to say that this is maybe 30% as good as BdC.
I will use the bottle over summer but would never buy again, even for the very low cost. My recommendation is to save your money to buy something great instead of wasting it on and average copy.
BdC: 9/10 (would be 10 if it lasted and projected better)
    Perry Ellis: 5/10

In my opinion this is a hidden gem. It’s a fresh take on Bleu de Chanel. I do get the bitter orange with a slight lemon/citrus type of vibe. The fir gives it a tangy sweetness and with the combination of the spices it smells awesome. Similar to BDC but not a copy. For the price at discount site’s this is a winner. I give this a 9.5 out of 10.

I may get a hint of the orange only a few minutes after initial application. After that, I get primarily cardamom and possibly coriander with support coming from a mixture of notes such as the fir, sandalwood, and mint. This one would probably work better in warmer weather rather than the cold of Winter. Still not sure I’m a huge fan.

Hi folks. Due to the comments I wanted to try this but didn’t see it anywhere in Canada, until one day at a discount retailer… instant blind buy. Regrets? None.
So, on my skin, minimal traces of bdc in the dry down only, which I’m happy about. Bdc is nice but with half the guys at work smelling like it, it gets tiring. I would say it reminds me of a mix and mash of vintage quorum and vintage cool water with some bdc sprinkled in. It’s not my favorite fragrance but it’s my comfort fragrance. I get 0 projection unless on my neck. I wear this scent for me or when I don’t want to be offensive.
If I want my wife’s attention or we’re going out, I turn to mont blanc legend intense.
I love this scent, it’s an ode to my favorite classics and shows the great evolution of masculine fragrances. I wouldn’t say that bdc is feminine but the aromatic ability of chanel combined with that tangy sweetness doesn’t project a Masculine scent on me.
Edit (months later…) 1 spray is very comfortable, however, I lose it after 3 hrs. I started using 2 sprays and I can smell it for 5 hrs, however, fatigue occurs every time and people around me seem to be sneezy. My wife refers to it as ‘peppery’ but I think it’s the Perry undertone because it happened with my last PE frag when I was in junior high (America) and I stayed away because of the sinus trouble it gave me. 2 sprays gives me the same trouble with this so I’m back to one spray and enjoying for a short time.
Lovely smell, but not so easy to use I find. Alas.

I think this smells good and I get really good performance from it. Unfortunately, the women in my life say that they do not appreciate it. So, I’ll be enjoying this at the office or while travelling (not on planes). And yes, I get BDC. Its a great value. I picked it up on Ebay for $24. When I sprayed this on myself at work my coworker yelled from the next room over (50′ away) “Did you just spray that stuff on again?” Is that sillage?

  21. :

It smells good for sure. Price is really cheap I picked it up at a Perry Ellis outlet store for 26 bucks for a gift set. I haven’t smelled BDC but if if PE is knock off then BDC must smell hella bomb cause this does.

Been wearing this for about a week and I’ll admit it does smell like BDC.. And like BDC it smells great! But It doesn’t perform like it.. I get 6 hours easy with BDC. But the longevity / sillage with the Perry Ellis is pretty suspect.. It becomes a skin scent 2 hours in on my skin, if that. It’s even light on clothing.. To be fair it’s still kinda cool here in NY so it probably performs better in the summer… But overall it definitely get’s compliments from the ladies and it smells pretty awesome.. So if you’re on a budget and you wanna smell like
BDC but can’t afford to drop $98, pick up a bottle of this juice. But make sure you keep a decant on deck. You’ll need it. 2 thumbs up for this affordable clone..

I came across this fragrance and I have to agree with everyone who says that it smells soooo much like Chanel Bleu at first. When I sprayed Bleu on one wrist and Perry Ellis on my other wrist and after awhile I certainly was able to tell which one was Chanel Bleu.
Longevity and Silage is soso lasting over 4-6hrs and you could smell it about 1/2 feet away.
    Finally thoughts,
I just recently came across this juice, if I didn’t know about bleu this frag would of alright. What makes this juice so attractive is that they both similar charctertic’s and is only half the price which makes it more appealing. It doesn’t have that cheap chemical aroma which a lot of other fake version have. If you don’t it not lasting and a much lower price…Go for it you won’t regret buying it.

I’m a sucker for copies. Yeah, probably opened myself up to some criticism there but there you have it. I will never spend more than three figures on a cologne; especially if a copy exists for under $30.
Supposedly this is a copy of Bleu De Chanel which I had been curious to gauge. If Perry Ellis smells like it, I can only imagine Chanel is really good for the price you pay. But, I’m happy with my $30 knock-off. I wish it were a bit stronger since my Perry Ellis 360 Red is a powerhouse on my skin, but for the price I paid, I won’t gripe.
I definitely get the musk in this one and, to my nose, more of the bitter orange. To me this one is a little sweet, musky, and a bit woody probably from the sandalwood and fir. This is a really nice scent that I think could be applied year-round. I could see how some might gravitate more towards summer and spring, but for me there’s enough musk and woods to make it not out of place during the colder seasons.
It’s, fresh, clean, and even a little romantic; feels more like a semi-formal fragrance than t-shirt and jeans. I have a date tomorrow night and might wear this one. A solid 9/10 for me with a docked point for longevity.

Really Like this Scent. Sexy Smell (Fresh Opening, Relax in Mid & Base). Spray on Chest & Neck, and Compiment come from my officemate.
Good Bottle + Good Scent + Good Projection + Good Longevity (6Hours on my skin) + Good Price. I Love This Stuff.

Perry Ellis has needed three years to copy Bleu de Chanel.
ALWAYS personally I prefer the ORIGINAL, never copies.
    I’ll stick with Bleu.

I got to experience this yesterday. A man at Macys had it on. I thought it was nice. As the reviews below say it has a Chanel Blue de feel…. I agree. I was not a huge fan, but ALL the women in the conversation loved it. Its a summer juice for sure. Not over powering at all.

  31. :

I recently purchased a 100mil of this juice and i really like it.
It smells a lot like Chanels Blue De Chanel, but it isn’t as Citrusy. It is a more “Manly” and Elegant version of Blue De Chanel. It’s lasted 7+ Hours on the Skin and Even longer on Clothes. It doesn’t project incredibly well, but it projects to about arms length, and i could smell it on my self all day. It has decent sillage as well.
I would say that Perry Ellis man could be used as an anytime “signature” scent. It is better for colder nights, but could easily work in a business environment.
Also, the bottle itself is spectacular. It is very well built, and very pleasant to look at. The picture here doesn’t show the cap, which is the same color as the Atomizer and is magnetic.
