I agree with Mr nose it all statement. I received a tester bottle and it was really different than the one I purchased at Neiman marcus. Possible fake? Sent the tester back for refund. Now in regards to the one I got from NM. It smells wonderful for a freshie. Last all day and get tons of compliments from it. Lavender is very pronounced throughout the fragrance and the base is slightly sweet but still fresh. There’s a vintage touch to it which in my opinion separates its from the newer freshie out there in the designer world. Happy to have in my collection, but it’s not a must have. Definitely quality juice!
FYI.
There’s definitely something going on with the tester bottles that are floating out there. This is the second I’ve heard of the percival tester smelling different. Also seen were the tester bottle is see through when a bright light is pressed against the bottle and where the non tester percival bottle you can barely see through it. Very strange!!!
pionchyk – :
It must be known there are major differences in batches on this… unless it was a freak accident another scent was put in the tester bottle…
Tester smelled like niche Burberry London while the one I bought smelled like niche Mont Blanc legend…
CRAZY … both light blue bottles.. but I swear it must have had LAYTON in it….. no joke

Bad ass Alpha checking in!
Nice review HullHocky, im ordering now!!!!!!

Alright guys, here is a 100% honest review.
I received a sample….I was beyond excited. I threw 4 sprays of the sample on and I was very disappointed. It was something I have smelled before. I couldn’t believe it.
Im pretty sure I had outrageous expectations for PdM. I love Herod, Layton and a few others from them so my expectations were way too high….
I decided to wear it one last time before I swapped my sample….Well, my mind had made a complete 180 degree turn.
This stuff was GORGEOUS on my second wearing. I really dove into the scent and found out that it reminded me of Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce as well as Mont Blanc Legend.
The main difference being…Percival is of outstanding quality. It is top notch.
Anyone who has ever dreamed of having an expensive smelling Fierce or Legend is now in luck. This stuff is incredible.
We all know the Fierce and Legend DNA is an absolute crowd pleaser…specifically with the ladies. Well, I can truly say this is going to be even better, strictly because of the quality. It doesn’t smell like anything new, but it takes the ever-classic masculine mass-appealing DNA and enhances it into an HD version.
This is Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce HD. Mont Blanc Legend HD. This is for the more mature burly studs and not the skinny, growing high school dudes. This stuff is powerful, masculine, bad-ass and is going to be a complete compliment monster.
OVERALL:
The performance is unbelievable. 4 sprays will last all day and I will get whiffs for 8+ hours. I guess at the end of the day you get what you pay for.
Scent: 8/10 (Would be a 10, however the DNA has been around)
Longevity: 9/10 (Insanely good for a fresher frag)
Projection: 9/10 (Huge scent cloud for the first 2-3 hours and then lingers in air for 8+ hours)

It may be of interest that out of the note breakdown, the following are all natural: bergamot, mandarin, violet, pink pepper, coriander, cinnamon, nutmeg, and tonka according to PDM. These make Percival noticeably natural.
barsik1 – :
Classic smelling yet modern.
Sort of anamalic green with a ever slight touch of leather.

I love PDM and have several of their amazing creations in my collection. My opinion of Percival is one of utter disappointment. I got this a few days ago. On opening, all I get is mandarin orange, similar to AHSEE. Longevity and sillage are weak! 4 sprays in the same spot and it was gone in a few hours. It’s strangely musky and woody, with a designer smell. It’s a hard pass for me. It’s just not worth $295.
Scent: 7/10
Longevity: 8/10
Sillage: 5/10
Price: 3/10

This is a clean, fresh, 1990’s throwback that reminded me of Cool Water, among many others. Unimaginative scent (and bottle) that will get compliments. I would most likely mistake this on someone as an Axe body spray, instead of an expensive niche.
konus98 – :
Don’t be fooled by the designer smelling opening. It soon transforms into a high quality aromatic scent. The drydown reminds me a lot of Creed Viking, but this one isn’t that sharp and much smoother. Also to me it has the same aromatic quality like Layton with that same mass appealing high quality notes.
mayboro – :
Okay, i just received my sample today.it’s smell litteraly like modernized version of Azzaro pour homme vintage.
Not for me
Acidly – :
It’s nice enough, but unless it is going to do something amazing in the next two hours, it smells like something I have smelled many times before and that is available at a much lower price point than this is. Even at half the price, it would be a push. Mind you, it smells exactly like most of my investment/private banker friends, so it may be aiming for the right range after all.
In summary – nice but not unique enough to justify what it costs, even when factoring in the beautiful bottle.
ETA: some time went by and I’ve decided that it does smell expensive and is more “rounded” than other smells, still, it is very familiar. It’s also really sweet, like so many men’s scents nowadays but also kind of old school. Reminiscent of Paloma Picasso’s Minotaure but also Egoïste Platinum by Chanel.
kceh – :
Opening is fantastic, but dries down to the classic “old man” smell. If I were in my 50’s I’d give this a go. Literally reminds me of my grandpa he has worn something similar to this before. Matter of fact this would make a good Christmas gift for him.
Lavander, geranium, jasmine, bergamot, and slight bit of musk is what I mainly get from this. Has a very classic smells as I have said. Not bad just not for me.
ogt994speagoessenda – :
I was able to get my nose on this in my trip to Dubai. This is a well polished designer versions of a lavander scent with a boost of cinnamon (more than most designers). I might get it.
Teliencushill – :
This is not designer like. This is a true man’s designer at a Macy’s counter (even Walgreens), period. Shame on you PM. I had smelled this dozens, if not, hundreds of times before. I have some of PM offerings that are really incredible to my nose. Unfortunately Percival is the most degrading scent from a so called niche house. Do not believe the hype the youtubers put on this, unless you are a aquatic samey kinda guy. I am not.
davidgio – :
I just got my bottle today. I kind of have to agree with some of the other posters who have said that this smells designer like. Picture Dior Sauvage mixed with a lavender heavy barbershop scent and that’s what this is. I do get the lavender, ambroxan, iso super, musk, and a bit of citrus. It smells mature but I think someone in their 20s can who wears a suit could pull it off. I think someone in their 30s however can pull this off casually but not too casually. This isn’t a gym shorts and t shirt kind of fragrance. Easy on the trigger too. 2 sprays should be fine. My skin eats up most fragrance but this one lasts. Been going strong for 5 hours and still projecting. I like this fragrance but I also feel seeing as how I just got it today I would like to take more time with it. Definitely can smell the quality in this. As far as originality is concerned, I’ll let you guys be the judge. But if Sauvage and Rive Gauche decided to have a child, it would probably end up smelling like a richer version of this.
For now 7.5/10 but my opinion can always change.
vip-hel1451 – :
Even more designer like than Layton. I smelled this in the store yesterday and it immediately reminded me of Axe body spray… but a refined version. A bust in my mind.
Deroxssuux – :
I was really satisfied with Percival. It is very versatile and yes more mass appealing. I am happy for this because I can wear this more casually rather than event specific. It smells very familiar but in an amazing way!
tyr4 – :
Smells like the fragrances below :
– Invictus Aqua
– Le Male Popeye
– Azzaro Chrome Intense.
Nothing unique , nothing groundbreaking and not worth the price tag.
Do not waste your money.
I smelt it at Dubai Airport and someone tried to market it to me. If I didn’t know much about fragrances I would have bought it lol.
SAbangel – :
Smelt this in Dubai airport yesterday. Was quite let down just has a 90s semi aquatic designer sporty type scent. The final dry down is nice but doesn’t warrant the price tag. Such a shame pdm couldn’t keep going with good hits like layton and layton ex
oblom1972 – :
So disappointed. That one smells too simple and basic designer fragrance with of course a niche price.
Sarneifssaf – :
Smelled it before the release date and I must say that I was very underwhelmed. It smells good but Parfums de Marly executed the trend of Designer-ish, mass appealing scents from a Niche brand a lot better with Layton and Layton Ex…
This isn’t as appealing as those offerings but it has a designer like smell. Just taken up a notch. It does have freshness you don’t find in PDM’s darker scents and this scent is dark but fresh. It reminded me of a high quality version of Dunhill Icon Elite tho…
Simply Put Scents

I added 4 new PDM bottles to my collection this month and It’s safe to say it’s my favorite house. Can’t wait to try this, and I have a feeling I will end up purchasing this one aswell!

I cant wait for it… and i know i have to buy it
