This is a subtle, unobtrusive, wearable patchouli that won’t blast everyone around you. It’s not too dirty, just earthy enough. I layer it under almost everything else and wear it alone too, when I don’t want to smell “perfum-y” but more natural. It’s a skin scent for sure. Lasts at least 8 hours.

Has anyone else experienced this one “turning” on them? I have the small purse spray size that I bought about a year and a half ago. I tend to wear it most in the autumn months, so I haven’t worn it in a couple months now, but I just sprayed some on this evening and it was unrecognizable! It doesn’t smell bad, exactly, just totally different – almost fruity. I keep it in a drawer where it isn’t exposed to sunlight, and it’s not THAT old, so I don’t know what happened. I want my old patch back. 🙁

Patchouli as an Eau de Cologne…
So, Patchouli for me has always been a note which I like blended with others. I find this one very practical in that it’s patchouli oil, but in a light concentration (still noticeable though).
I’ve been very impressed by the Demeter house in general, and I feel that this one is no exception. However I feel that with the particular bottle I own, the oil has broken down into some residue and turned the juice very slightly cloudy, so even though the smell is potent I expect that the oil itself is too volatile to be stored for long periods of time without breaking down (or the fixing alcohol was not high enough to hold it). Either way, it’s the smell of earthy, slightly spicy patchouli. I will use this one for layering and see what happens. That’s what I love about Demeter, the layering possibilities are almost endless.
Edit: This is now the first Demeter fragrance I’ve worn to receive a compliment! So this seems to work well on a man’s skin and it just shows that you don’t need to spend a lot of money to smell good to people!

Straight up patchouli, but not overly strong. Would likely be good for layering. This was part of a 3 scent package of Demeter perfumes, but as I don’t like patchouli I gifted this to a patch-loving friend.

As the other reviewers have mentioned, this is a pure but not-too-intense patchouli. The first minute or two smell WAY too strong, and unpleasant in a chemical way, but I think this is because of the alcohol. After that calms down, though, it’s beautiful and earthy.
Also, it sounds really strange, but I found that combining this with Demeter’s Pumpkin Pie creates an ideal fall/Halloween scent for me. Maybe those two won’t go together well for everyone, but it works for me.

Just what the name says: it’s patchouli. It’s diluted with a lot of perfumer’s alcohol, so don’t expect patchouli oil intensity with this.
I have the big 4 ounce bottle. The patchouli in mine is dark and almost smoky, not as earthy as I like it. It’s pretty subtle because of the dilution, so you can spray this on pretty liberally without worrying about killing everyone else near you. It’s a good scent to wear if you want to smell like patchouli all day (longevity is excellent, at about 10 hours), but want to keep it close to the vest.
Far from my favorite patchouli, but pretty good nonetheless.
My rating: 7/10

If you’re a patchouli fan, this is worth trying. Although if you are used to potent patchouli essential oil, this probably won’t be enough for you.
For £15/30ml you can’t go wrong.
(2 for £25 in Boots right now)
