Description

NEBULAE SERIES

Olfactive Inspiration:

Nebula photographs, outer space and synesthesia (vision to smell).

How to translate the atmosphere of a Nebula in a fragrance? Through a
synesthetic process, Oliver immersed himself in his laboratory, exploring
a wide palette of raw materials to link the colors and texture of each
nebula into olfactive notes.

Graphics

A white lacquered bottle with a methacrylate lens embedded above the
photograph of each Nebula. The fragrances are cased in a transparent
methacrylate box and protected with a foam, showcasing each bottle, as
if we saw them from a window seat in a spaceship.

purple, rust, pink lavender… An olfactory journey into
the darkness of the endless universe.

I was given a sample and thought “looks cool!”, but after trying it, the first thing that came to mind was the episode of Friends where Chandler says to Joey “What kind of scary ass clowns came to YOUR birthday party?!” This to me is frightening, clowns or no clowns. It’s so sterile. So cold, but it goes beyond that. I came on here to read the reviews after and agree with the people who said ‘aliens, horror, dread, cold’ etc..
It’s beyond the antiseptic sterile hospital smell. More like you’re lying down on a metal Drs table in outer space, and you look up and see all these aliens studying you. Cold, frightening, abysmal, and if there are clowns in outer space, they are there too!
    Count me out.

Frozen mineral dust clouds in the cold dark void of interstellar space. Absolute zero.
This is not a warm, cozy scent at all. I think it’s the epitome of a ‘cold’ perfume. Dry, dusty, and cold. It will take you where no frag has taken you before, that’s for sure. But no one ever said adventures were cozy.
That being said, this fragrance is definitely not for everyone, myself included. There’s something about it that makes me feel uneasy, anxious, disturbed. I can even feel the gritty dust in the back of my throat from smelling it. I find it unsettling and definitely alien. Very strange lol.

I adore this! It’s quirky and gorgeous.
First you get orange and dusty dry air. Clean sterile hospitalwing, so icy it makes your teeth hurt. But give it a while and you will find warmth, leaves, fruity sweetness and minerals. It’s very wearable. But like I said. Quirky.

This is an amazing fragrance. It’s so strange that most won’t understand it, but when you do you realize that it is absolute perfection. The scent of the universe.

honestly I dont like this scent at all, the opening is very clear citrusy scent but smells sweaty dirty man, it is so sour and for me, fresh is not equal to sour. a very wired scent but also makes me reminds of Cool Water by Davidoff
I copied my comments of Nebula 2 to this one becuse to me both two are very sour,Nebula 1 is less sour and warmer but it is still very strong for me. I feel headache to this collection and dont know how to describe the scent.

Nerves tickling thing. The next level for Feu lovers. They are completely different but touching something deeply hidden in a similar way. Nebula smells like corridors of a planetarium. Or rather a feeling one gets when thinking of how universe is created and how complicated it is. The universe seems so distant and cold and then you just admire the whole idea and start feeling good about it. That is the sensation the perfume gives. It is unique.
Just by coincidence I sprayed it before going to the cinema to watch Star Wars. This is the perfume to watch this movie.

I was so intrigued by the words used to describe this fragrance in previous reviews, one part kaleidoscopic psychedelia of endless complexity, one part deafening stillness and dread. Both of these concepts are relevant to my interests, so when I finally got my hands on a sample thanks to the wonderful Fragrantican Cereza I was stoked to smell it myself!
I am quite frankly surprised at the dislike bar of this one, because to me it’s a “love”. Personally I find it smells “nice and synthetic”, a bit like some type of plastic or new car seats, maybe industrial glue, a bit of soil, cherry tobacco, tar, resin, salt liquorice. The best way I can describe it is that it smells nice in the way that gasoline smells nice. A reference that came up in my head is “Habanita”, but smelling them next to each other they are very different. I would actually consider adding this one to my collection, were it not so expensive. Am I crazy?

I very much enjoy this fragrance, the opening reminds me of a darker Amouage Interlude Woman with a sort of fruity leathery aspect on my skin. I do not find this animalic at all, but there is a sort of darkness unexplorable colder part to this fragrance that really only lasts for about half hour on me, after that it is quite nice and warm on my skin….I kept getting wafts thinking “this smells awesome”.

I can’t see many folks enjoying this. I get a tea/mint herbal and light animalistic vibe going. I have no idea where the direction of this scent is supposed to go, but it’s a thumbs down for me. I don’t pick up and of the sweet or fruity notes. Someone below me mentioned that it gets better after 3 or 4 hours but not on my skin. I did not win it in a giveaway, I actually swapped for a decant of it. This is the 1st and last that I will try from this house.

I’m one of the happy fortunated members who received a generous sample of this challenging perfume. As some others already stated, it is a quite different experience and I bet nobody will have the feeling that it reminds him or her to any other perfume they’ve smelled. Just for that reason I highly recommend a try to all perfume maniacs around. It is indeed a trip, long away from any kind of linearity, keeps changing in a surprising trip.
It took me a while to comment on it as it isn’t an easy perfume. It is clearly an acquired taste design. Not for those who wish to be pleased, but for the ones who search for experiences.
Its first reddish bitter sweet explosion is thickly veiled by green herbs, then it slowly turns darker and warmer for hours, unfolding spices and woody resins over an animalic heart which is smokey dense, dark and slightly sweet.
A nice experience this one of travelling into the unknown territories.
I would say for evening use. Slightly more masculine but perfectly wearable for any modern woman that loves strong dark fragrance experiences.
Now saving for a bottle I plan to get for next autumn.
    Good sillage and longevity.

I was very excited that I won this one, but I have to admit that I don’t like it very much. A very stark, in your face fragrance that didn’t really work.
On another note, and I am completely serious — I washed it off and the remnants smelled absolutely wonderful! A beautiful citrusy/herbal scent. THAT was a great fragrance. Now make that happen and I’ll gladly purchase a bottle, but as it stands, no. Perhaps the concentration is too high?

There is a stillness from this, loneliness, deafening silence, dread, and horror, like blood streaked walls. This is a most unusual experience. The effect is similar to walking through a testing laboratory of aliens. A green glowing cast with large test…tube…like glass containers of human body parts that have a subtle buoyancy in a strong chemical egg white textured formaldehyde. I see or feel no warmth like the colors on the outer bottle were to suggest. I don’t feel a warmth until four hours later. At that hour, this becomes a warm woodsy incense-y smoky fireplace scent. This is the most natural smelling scent I’ve ever experienced in a bottle. With my eyes closed, you would have to prove it was something bottled. I love this after the fourth hour! It’s a bit hippy-ish, churchy, soul searchingly serious. I haven’t experienced this in high heat or humidity and really don’t desire to. The comparison in mind would be a sweatshirt from the night before, worn at a campfire. In the fresh air, sunshine and warmth the next day, it’s a nice smell. But pull that same shirt out of a duffle bag full of damp packed clothing…not so good. I was fortunate to experience this thanks to a most generous sample from an amazing talented person. I will wear this, but only if I am not alone in my home for the first four hours! I’m a skeerdy cat! G’day Oliver!

I won a sample of this during the Fragrantica giveaway. To me, this fragrance is a very heavy animalistic fragrance with a lot of fruit. It’s very intense and unlike any other fragrance I have ever experienced. It lasts a very long period of time and has incredible projection. If you’re into strong castoreum fragrances, this would be one I would suggest trying out for the uniqueness factor. Unfortunately, this is not a fragrance I can easily pull off. Best suited for night wear and cooler months, in my opinion. Complex and very unusual. I have nothing else like it.
I am willing to swap my sample forward to another Fragrantican who would like to test this fragrance. It’s definitely quite an experience.

My wish came true and I won a sample of Nebulae 1. I’d try to not offend the master perfumer Mr Valverde by my review, but there are too many ingredients that I can’t tell what I smell and it gives me nausea. Although I love strong fragrances, this one isn’t for me :(.

Got my sample today from the giveaway. This scent is amazing. It’s sweet and complex. Wasn’t sure I was going to like it at first, but after wearing it all day and catching wiffs of it…I am now a fan.
Longevity is very good on my skin. Around 8 hours. Projection is fairly good. Not monster sillage, but I can still smell it at arms length from my hands hours after spraying.
Looking to try Nebula 2 soon.

Just got my very generous sample prize! Panicked when there was no indication of which scent I’d received, as my nose is not that sophisticated….but I am thinking it’s this one…it’s rather sweet and I recognize a very prominent neroli note in there..it’s strong and very different. Somewhat feminine IMHO, but I like it. Waiting for the drydown, so may come back and add more to the review.

I like this quite much. It’s not the usual type of perfume I have but that’s not a bad thing. The scent is very interesting, nothing I’ve smelled before. On my skin I smell something leathery and some citrus of the blood orange quite clearly… If I smell right, there’s the tea-like smell of champaca dominating too. All in all, very nice surprise.

I was one of the lucky ones who won this one from the giveaway, and was real happy when it arrived at my home.
I really couldnt wait to apply it on my skin and smell it. So i did……….
Right after applying the first thing that came to my mind was turkish cologne, so i thought heey, this smells familiar and was thinking that the best part had yet to come. It didnt took long before i was smelling something different, it was a very different smell, i didnt know what to think about.
    And then……
juansanchezcar is right about the frightening part, because when i smell it all i think about is a church and vampires.
Even my brother said it has that kind of smell, church and vampires haha, really frightening.
I tried and wanted to like it but it just isnt made for me, i really cant describe how it smells but it starts real heavy and after a short while it changes to something that i really dont like.
In the main accords it says citrus but i dont smell any citrus which i normally like alot.
Anyway, this was my experience with it, hope that other people will like it.

This one’s a beauty. Lysergic, addictive, even a little bit frightening. It gives an impression of endless complexity, like a travel full of stops in unexpected places. Uncompromisingly original, kaleidoscopic. For me this is what niche perfumery is all about: not the price, not the exclusivity, but the exploration. Not for the faint at heart!
