Description

The collection of Cartier which has offered luxurious fragrances in elegant flacons Les Heures de Parfum since 2009 till today is introducing three brand new fragrances inspired by the Orient. The collection was initiated in honor of 100 years of existence and is inspired by time and the important moments in life. Previous editions were characteristic for tall glass flacons enumerated with Roman numbers and offering contemporary, elegant and classic compositions aimed at men and women. The three new fragrances which belong to the collection turn course to the Orient, because one of the man ingredients is precious oud combined with intense rose and musk.

The new fragrances arrive in flacons in gold color in the same flacon form as previous editions of the collection Les Heures de Parfum. The names of the new fragrances are: Oud & Oud, Oud & Rose and Oud & Musc, and they are signed by perfumer Mathilde Laurent, perfumer of the house of Cartier, who wants to take us to the wealth and splendor of aromas of distant countries with these fragrances.

The third fragrance of the collection is Oud & Musc, in which the accent lies on sensuality, intimacy and delicate shades. The fragrances were presented on the official website of Cartier in flacons of 75 ml.
Oud & Musc was launched in 2014.

This is Oudy smelling, not that great though, has a 70’s men’s cologne vibe. Not my cup of tea.

A stunning Oud fragrance from Cartier. The most versatile from this line. Very sophisticated! Now finally available in 50 ml bottles.

Like Clyde mentioned this is a soft inoffensive oud scent…it’s classy and has a rich creamy feel to it….great for winter but can be pulled off in the summer since it’s not super heavy

This fragrance is much like Cartier itself, classy, rich, and exotic, pretty nice package I would say.

We can’t surely say that the three new (middle-eastern themed) launches in the Cartier’s exclusive line win the prize for the most original names around. With labels such as *Oud & Musc*, *Oud & Rose* and *Oud & Oud*, it’s pretty clear that they didn’t put much effort and creativity when thinking about them.
With that said, Oud & Musc is a pretty decent release but, from my point of view, not completely convincing.
It opens with a sweet and kind of bright woody note (maybe some aldehydes come into play as well) joined by a nice civet-y musk. I immediately thought about MKK but I didn’t have enough time to draw parallels as the civet-y part of the musk dissipated within seconds to leave space to a much cleaner and smoother kind of musk which is closer to the one used in the infamous Helmut Lang EDP or even in Bensimon’s Cologne 1993. Well, this represented the main part of the whole fragrance. A nice and smooth, clean (yet warm) musk with woody facets and very distant animalic echoes.
Overly polished, overly safe, over-priced and, as the name already suggested, ultimately a bit redundant. It’s pleasant enough and I would probably wear it but, for what it is, I would never pay the price it goes for. Let’s put it diplomatically: I’m probably not their target.
