Only The Brave collection by Diesel receives another edition in 2012, which arrives in sale in March. The new Only The Brave Tattoo is available in characteristic flacon (glass fist), in dark shades, with inscribed Only The Brave Tattoo in “La Graffiti” style. The outer packaging goes great with design of the flacon.
Only The Brave Tattoo is composed of apple, opening the composition with its zest. A heart comprises sage and Bourbon pepper, while a base features amber-wood tacts, benzoin, tobacco and patchouli.
He tattooed his initials R.R. and the motto Only The Brave above his ankle and Mohawk Indian logo on his arm. ‘I like the idea of writing on the body. ‘- explains Rosso. ‘We were born without any marks and I think it is important to leave trace on the body we were given.’

Well, winter is approaching (not for me so much in South Florida) and youtube reviewers will be releasing their favorite fragrances for the winter. I’m willing to bet this isn’t on anybody’s list. I really can’t figure out what it smells like, but if you like these notes go for Spice Bomb. I bought it for the bottle when it was first released. The opening is good, but the drydown is the worst of all my scents. Diesel makes the worst perfumes in the industry IMO. I’m a big fan of tobacco and benzoin, but don’t like this fragrance.
For a great inexpenive unknown benzoin fragrance, try Ice by Sakamichi sold on ebay. If you’re into tobacco, try Varvatos Vintage or for even colder weather Varvatos Dark Rebel. This was a blind buy because I was too lazy to even see if it was offered at the mall when it was first released.

Can’t pick up the tobacco note, which is a win. Reason being I dislike tobacco in fragrances.
My partner sprayed a couple on me this morning, as he was showering himself in it. It’s never a crime to smell good 😉 I really like it.

I don’t get any of these reviews at all. To me it does not smell at all like black xs! Or aquatic ?!? I definitely get a sweet apple note right off the bat very sweet apple but the other notes such as tobacco they all do not compliment that sweet apple scent I get a sweet rotten apple when it’s smell this. There’s absolutely zero connection with otb original. This could have just been its own frag. I tried to like it cuz I blind bought it and it was expensive. But all I get is a sweet rotting apple smell. I dislike this fragrance.

This juice is not like black xs at all. All the same is to share same style(sweet fruits). In my opinion, tattoo reminded me more of fuel for life which is black xs but more dark, less anise. Yes there is no anise in the notes but i get anise more than tobacco. I consider younger guys will be able to like this scent

It was going half price at my local so I gave it a try, but it’s a resounding “meh…” from me. The opening is at once too harsh, and yet modern and bland at the same time. The dry down is much better and very pleasant when the tobacco comes through warmly. It’s got a decent kick to it, but the advertising guff and “sad little man” bottle alone are enough to put anyone off. I like it, I can see a lot of women going for it, but unless someone gifted me a bottle of it I’d never own it – not even at half price.

Very sweet, marmalade like opening featuring a juicy, synthetic apple. Soon, hints of pepper and benzoin come into play, darkening the scent adding a lovely complexity and
mysteriousness to it. These make want to wear the fragrance myself!
Then, sage and minty patchouli give it a subtle masculine shower gel- like herbal freshness. Sweetness quietens, but continues thorough out the fragrance in a fine tobacco note. Benzoin and patchouli have a vanilla-velvety character in this fragrance, there is nothing rough or overpowering in them. Overall, the fragrance has a boozy, 89p vodka mixer- vibe to it. Delicious!
Unfortunately, in an about an hour, the tobacco laced with woody and herbal notes starts to turn my stomach. I have to agree with an earlier reviewer; “really pungent and stale like an airless room full of old clothes.” But, I suppose, this will be the inevitable result of the 89p vodka mixers.
The bottle is stunning, original design, which reflects well the “dark, with bling”- nature of the fragrance.

Only The Brave Tattoo was the first fragrance I ever picked out for my partner. He went through his 50ml bottle in less than a year and he loved it as much as I loved the smell of it on him.
On the day I bought Only The Brave Tattoo, I spent close to an hour with the sales assistant smelling paper strips and spritzing the big contenders onto my wrist. Many of the masculine scents I tried began to smell the same, like one big concoction of citrusy aquatics all rolled into one. I had a general idea that my partner liked sweeter masculines, with Joop Homme being his signature, so when it came to testing Only The Brave Tattoo it seemed like a no-brainer.
Both female sales assistants and myself agreed that Only The Brave Tattoo was an incredibly sexy, sweet and mysterious scent.
The red apple and mandarin orange notes give this fragrance a sweet, zesty aroma in the opening and heart, however the benzoin and patchouli in the base create a darker, more resinous finish which adds to the sexy vibe that us women pick up on. It’s a bold scent, but definitely not one to be overpowering. The sillage is for the most part moderate and close to the skin.
I rather like the bottle design despite it being rather kitsch. I also think the black design pairs nicely with how the fragrance smells.

If the composition weren’t so blended and the ingredients were a little better, I would feel more enthusiastic about this one. It starts off with sweet “red” fruit and then burleys up a bit with a pleasant synthetic pipe tobacco before losing focus and just smelling soapy and fresh. Certainly not bad but I could save $40 and just get Vermeil.

I do not agree with this fragrance being for a younger crowd only. I am almost 40 and I love this fragrance. Yes it is fruity sweet, but the tobacco note gives it a gentleman vibe to me. I believe this fragrance is highly underrated. If this was Dior or Versace, I think people would rate it higher. I have many designer fragrances and this is right in the mix with my favorites. A nice sweet, smooth, deep, fruity tobacco fragrance that is absolutely perfect for fall or winter. I really love this fragrance. I think the tobacco puts this sweet fragrance above many other sweet ones such as Eros or One Million. Those I would say are for the youth. Tattoo is a very nice sophisticated scent.

I got my first compliment from this fragrance today. I have had this bottle for a few years now. And I do like it. I wish the longevity was a lot stronger on it. The tobacco note is very nice. I am starting to get a real hook on tobacco notes in frags and I like the very rugged and extremely masculine. And can we please talk about the bottle! One of my favorite bottles actually. I love the script on the hand and just overall adds to the look and feel of the scent. This is the only diesel frag that I own. Tbh, it has a very young vibe to it. Younger people can wear this very well, and I think it is more suited towards them (I am only 25 BUT I am also referring to people my age and downwards).
Would I buy again? Probably not. This to me is like a stepping stone fragrance. You smell this, all the notes in it, and you build your pallet and move to more complex scents. Still overall, a great fragrance.

I have the 2016 batch and this smells like pure apple and a hint of benzoin, no tobacco at all. Also it doesn’t last as long on my skin, probably around 3 hours. Maybe it’s just my skin chemistry or maybe it’s reformulated

The pepper is light and helps add a little complexity. After half an hour or so I begin to get a very nice tobacco note (dry, “leafy”), but not much patchouli. It began with fruitiness of a not entirely “natural” quality but then over time it was milder and I could detect some “fresh” aroma chemicals. It’s not too sweet, nor syrupy, nor powdery; overall, it’s definitely pleasant, if not complex. I don’t think one can expect a stronger tobacco note in a scent of this type, so that was a nice surprise. This is one I’ll have to wear a few times before I decide how much enjoyment I’ll derive from it if I wear it once a month or thereabouts. Note that I disagree with those who compare this to Pure Havane, Bogart Pour Homme, and “cherry pipe tobacco” notions, as after about half an hour it goes in a different tobacco direction, IMO. Note that my bottle’s batch code dates it so September, 2013.

Whoa! Very in your face, BIG synthetic sweet fruity/spicy blast on the initial spray! I get mostly apple, tobacco and a boatload of benzoin and not much else.
It’s a sharp and vibrant fragrance, with a slightly dark, heavy side as well. Really quite unique and nice once it mellows out. Very good projection and longevity. Doesn’t seem to develop a whole lot….just smooth’s out and settles nicely after the opening barrage.;)
It’s not quite a “love” for me, but definitely stronger than a “like”. It’s a scent that I enjoy wearing very much, but once I’ve worn it….I tend not to revisit it for awhile.(much like my other strong, fruity, synthetic scents like Eros, Black XS, Euphoria Intense, Red Intense and the like…a little goes a long way)
And FWIW-this smells NOTHING like Black XS…the only thing these two scents share is that they are both fruity and synthetic. Completely different in smell, though I really enjoy both equally as much

Smells good if your not afraid of synthetic ingredients. The smell is very sweet, it almost could be unisex. It’s the kind of smells that I wish I could eat. Very playful and sexy. Young girls and guys like this and it gets noticed.

Projections is average after the initial blast but it lasts a while on the skin.
Fit for young men from 18 to 25 yo.
Actually looking to sell it as I grew tired of the synthetic feel. And it kind of gives me headaches…

It has a similar accord to FFL. The thing is, is the benzoin smells terrible in this. A scent with a great usage of benzoin is Givenchy PI, but this just does not come off right to my nose. The dry down is a bit harsh for my nose and I will not be buying a bottle. I admit that I love sweet scents and love FFL but this is a few notches below it.

Sweet tabaco bomb. This frag is powerful, made to do compétition with one million and these kind of fragrance. Perfect for clubbing or going to downtown, something u put when u want to be notice and attract attention. I think they aim a young crowd with it, like the other only the brave (mayble the beginning of the 20). I got a sweet cherry (red apple?) tobacco mix with it that last for a really long time and that project like a loud speaker you see in the club! To be avoid in hot time, will stay on your skin even after a shower and it will be cloying for sure! U might even arm someone if u are not careful with the trigger, they should have done a gun shapped bottle instead of a fist :p If u are looking for a super strong beast for clubbing and u don t like one million, give it a try, that could be what u are looking for. All right, let see what we get here:
Scent: 7,5/10, sweet, sweet, sweet cherry tobaco bomb. U need to love sweet scent.
Longevity: 4,5/5, i got around 10 hours with it, more on clothes.

Versatility: 2,5/5, for clubbing and cold time only. Can easily be cloying. Beware, by wearing this at work u might make ennemy.

A good Fragrance ONLY if you use it for it’s own purpose. I put it in the same category with One Million, Invictus, and Versace Eros. those are scents which are created for only one scenario; Clubbing. a place full of smoke and clashing scents, where a strong fragrance needed to stand out. While One Million is so main stream, Invictus and Eros are ” AXE-ish “, I consider this one the best among the four, However, I can’t imagine this pack of fragrances outside a clubbing scenario, maybe a very cold night and very casual wear. Every cologne lover should have one of these four for that clubbing night. loud, strong, long lasting, but not Versatile.
oh… and the bottle, looks AMAZING on my shelf, and reflects the vibe of Diesel as a brand.

This is a great nighttime fragrance. Doesn’t require too much application. For me anything over 3 sprays would be overkill. For me it’s the right kind of sweet, thanks to all the spice. I can see myself getting sick of the synthetic quality over time.

The Diesel brand, known worldwide for its jeans, produces fragrances since 1996, but came back with all power to the market when released Diesel Fuel for Life, in 2007. It was a huge success! From there, new versions (flankers) have emerged and new fragrances were inserted in the range of options that the brand offers for sale. It was the case of Only the Brave, released in 2009, who won this rebellious version, in 2012. Here, the man is tattooed, confident and mysterious.
The composition brings notes of Granny Smith Apple with a touch of Mandarin, just in the output. The heart is warmed by the Bourbon pepper and Sage, while the bottom of the fragrance has notes of benzoin absolute, tobacco, patchouli and amber wood.
The result is a sweet aroma, which touches the skin quite fruity and juicy. I’d even say that can be considered a semi-gourmand. Then, although possessing little evolution, shows slight woody nuances, but spicy. On my skin, the tobacco did not pronounce, but the benzoin, with its vanilla aspect, was pretty remarkable. For those who like references, this cologne has enough olfactory similarity to Black XS (2005), by Paco Rabanne. The biggest difference is the aroma of red fruits, very much alive in the latter, whereas in the Diesel, it’s possible to perceive (clearly) the presence of apple. Moreover, after rumors of reformulations, many consumers began to question the durability of Black XS, while Only the Brave Tattoo has better sillage and lasts beyond expectations.
The bottle kept the same design from the previous version, which features a heavy hand with a ring bearing the inscription Diesel (in the best style “brass knuckles”), now covered in tattoos.
It’s a beautiful scent, ideal for colder days and, especially, for men who like to draw attention, without fear of showing what’s hidden under their tattoos.

Diesel, Only the Brave Tattoo is highly underrated..!! While the initial blast of spice notes may be overwhelming, the dry down and thereafter is seductively attractive. The initial notes are a mix of apple, benzoin, pepper, and tobacco. Tattoo then settles into a blend of patchouli, tobacco, and woodsy notes. Do yourself a favor – wait for the dry down..!! I am a huge fan of the (original) “big brother” to Tattoo, Only the Brave. The original OTB is my #1 fragrance in a collection that is increasing toward 500 bottles (wouldn’t be so bad but I struggle on which one to wear and dusting the ‘dog gone’ bottles is a pain in the ___ ..!!) Tattoo may have similar notes as the original, but the fragrance is different. Very different – and being different is OK..!! It is a “dark different” that is spicy – it adds to the mystique of Tattoo.. It is what it is – a great fragrance…
Longevity and Projection/Sillage are above average, lasting more than 6 hours and even longer on clothing. Tattoo has plenty of “Wow Factor” (compliments from the opposite sex) potential. While no compliments wearing today, this fragrance has a certain “dark confidence” that will gain attention. The versatility of this fragrance is a topic of debate. Personally, given the “spicy” undertone, I would suggest Fall and Winter as ideal – but the fragrance is so unique, I could argue that Tattoo could be worn during any season, but preferably at night.
The bottle is a piece of art, classically designed to mirror that of the “big brother” with the addition of a “dark” finish that compliments the fragrance. Very well done. The packaging is sufficient, but I will add that I do keep the boxes (that added security while traveling) and this box came “un-glued”, literally, the first day I wore it. It will be our secret that – “duck tape” fixed it up. A check of online pricing shows that Tattoo is moderately (or average) priced.
Tattoo’s final tally is 4.5 stars out of a possible 5 stars. I have enjoyed the Only the Brave fragrances, and Tattoo offers a uniqueness that the original does not have. It is this “dark side” that has a seductively attractiveness about it that warrants adding to your collection. I highly recommend.

the scent its self is strange but good, i get alot of tobacco on the dry down with a fruity edge, it reminds me of the old fashioned tobacco shops we had in the UK where you could get flavoured tobacco, when it was busy in the shop and alot of containers opened it has a similar vibe to it 🙂
having this, PR Black XS & L’Exces i can see where people are coming from when comparing them, there all great buys and if you after this sort of scent at least try all 3 on your skin before you buy 🙂
UPDATE: After using this a few times now ive got to add a piece about Longevity & silage, in my experience with it its not as great as some are saying, 2 sprays will certainly not give 10+hrs longevity & 6ft Projection, ive been using 6 sprays and that lasts 8hrs with moderate (1.5ft) projection.

What I think you’d want to know. Apart from the insane price on this guy of course. Now, if you like sweet scents, this one is definitely it. It’s got a really fresh opening and then it settles down to this fruity monster that goes on and on and on and on. On my skin it very reminiscent of PR BlackXS Men. Sillage 7/10. Longevity 8/10.

I would say this is a night time only sort of fragrance. The opening is good. Like the original but with an added scent of raspberry (to my nose anyway). But after a while it descends into a stale, sweat-ridden, sickly version of itself. The worst thing is, the opening lasts about half an hour, and the nasty drydown lasts about 12 hours. Disappointing.

Lol that thing stick so much to the skin that even after taking a shower, use a lot of soap and putting another fragrance on my skin (la nuit ysl) it is still there i can smell it almost more than la nuit! Unbeliveable! I think it is overpowering for hot summer night…and definitely to much for any day uses…i finaly find the super powerfull fragrance i was looking for! Like it very much! Smell like tobacco/ cherry combo to me…very different from the original, i think that only the brave should be use in the day and that one should be use for night, because it is very strong and could be to much for work and casual…i didnt try it on cold weather yet, but i think it should be better that in summer, because with only one spay it smell so fu** ing strong !

Wow, what a scent. I fell in love with it the first time I tried this on. Strong, lovely, sweet and fruity. But didnt buy it right away because I didnt know when or what occasion to apply this one. Bought it on sale, so I will see what suits this one.
About the scent; the start is very fruity and sweet. Like an apple. It dries down to something I cant put my fingers on, like tobacco with sweet apple. You probably noticed I used the word sweet alot, its because this frag is very very sweet, but not feminin sweet. But good candy sweet.
Its strong and projects very much.
7.5/10 overall. Buy it, dont be like me and wait!!

I don’t think this Diesel is similar to Black XS, maybe to l’excés or Azzaro twin, because these are so sweet and fruity, the original Black xs has a massive rosewood note and little bit sharp…

What a delicious smell. This smells of expensive, I love it.
It opens well with the fruity flavor of red apple being caressed with benzoin and tobacco, that sounds so good, fantastic combination. Very Good!

There things to consider when getting this:
1. NEVER EVER put this on in summer or in hot climates, otherwise you might find yourself in jail being charged for being a public nuisance. And as if that wasnt bad enough resistance by washing with soap only brings futile results, i.e. you stay a nuisance for about 14hrs plus.
2. Do not even think about it if you are not into sweet perfumes, and honestly even if you are, “sweet” isnt equal to “sweet” so atleast try it out first.
3. Its very different from the original one, which I must say I prefered.
I get this very sweet syrupy taste as if I was eating gummy bears, alittle synthetic if you ask me. This is some fragrance you have get along with otherwise dont even bother. Dont get me wrong, its not a bad fragrance per se but you would need a whole bunch of tolerant folks if you wanna buy it.
Like you might have already found out, sillage and longevity are non existent problems here, which is both a blessing for some and a curse for others, depending on what U like offcourse. I like sweet fragrances but this is one is a tart too much for my taste. And thats coming from a guy who can take Animale animale pour Homme, Pure Havana, New Haarlem en many more. Try it out first, DO NOT BLIND BUY.
