I wonder why I waited so long to try this, probably because that commercial back then was SOOOOO pretentious and annoying. Which just tells me I need to ignore marketing completely. This is such a beautiful, deep ,sweet oriental. I love it for fall, just perfect, but I think I love it enough to wear anytime. The spice is just right, no sharpness in This at all. This is not unlike Dune, which is another love for me. And this stuff lasts all day on my fragrance eating skin and many days more on clothes.

    Interesting!
I’m an immature 37 year old male and received a vintage, squatty 50ml red bottle with reddish brown cap and gold band with the purchase of a mixed lot of used fragrances. I immediately listed this fragrance to resell, as I thought it was a feminine fragrance and not for my collection. Of course, I had to try some anyway…. and I guess I’m glad I did. I wasn’t sure if this bottle contained actual fragrance or if it was some sort of factice display (the old red squatty flattened 50ml bottle). I dabbed my wrist, as this bottle doesn’t spray. I got hit with an interesting scent. Maybe not something I particularly liked. Theres cinammon in there. There’s a successful 1980s businesswoman in there (which apparently smells quite masculine). About an hour or 2 into this adventure, there is nothing but amber, incense, and sandlewood for my nose. To me, today, this is quite acceptable as a unisex frangrance. Something a person might smell on someone in the aisle of a health food store. Mostly essential oils coming through. About 3 hours into this I can detect a vanilla sweetness peeking through the amber. Definitely, with this bottle I found, everything is centered around the amber. Could be the vintage of this bottle; bottle was 98% full, sealed tight…. I don’t know how much age plays into this, and I don’t have a modern Obsession to compare it to. I decided this bottle will remain in my collection between the Sex Panther by Odeon and the Valentino Uomo. It’s offensive in the same way as when I roll on the amber/sandlewood essential oil. It has a certain earthiness to it. It’s natural enough to wear at a music festival or wherever. Maybe this works for me in winter, outside, downtown, in jeans and leather boots. I would NOT wear it on an airplane or to a job interview.

An unmistakable, green-musky-spicy-sexy beast that’s ripe for a comeback! Back in the day I absolutely LOVED this stuff— I was 14 when it came out, and I had the Designer Imposter version (called “Confess”), which my mom felt was a bit lighter & more suitable. As an adult, I happily wore the real thing through the early to mid ‘90s. I absolutely adored the creamy green musk in the drydown. Then, around 1996, Obsession began to feel very dated & heavy. I switched to EL Pleasures & fruity body sprays.
Only recently have I come back around to wearing my vintage bottles of Obsession. It’s been 33 years since the fragrance debuted. I now feel we’ve reached the point in our cultural fragrance journey that this warm brown smolder-pot with its quirky & gender-bending notes fits right in with the interest in niche/artisanal fragrances & essential oils.
I have a bottle of vintage 1985 spray cologne (sprayer built into the cap), vintage 1995 eau de parfum (gold band around cap) and ca. 2010 reformulation (dark brown cap w/no gold band). The spray cologne is my favorite, as it really heightens the interplay between the smoky vanilla & the green/citrus notes. The reformulation is my least favorite, as I feel it’s missing some crucial bit of depth, and it amps up the cinnamon which just smells funky and dirty to me.
However you like to wear Obsession, you’ll smell regal, spicy, and gorgeous! But do not overspray… for everyone’s sake.

I remember The first time I smelled This one. I was a child looking in a really fancy magazine. There was a page with an advertise for The new Calvin Klein Scent and a try out amount when you flipped The side.I had never ever smelled something that intense. I remember that I thougt I would want that when I grew up. It had a scent of a mature woman soooo sexy. Years later I bought one… What a joy. Warm, cosy, heavy, sexy and out there to fill a room. I still wear it at special occasions when I need The confindence from The scent. Obsession is The best name for This darling. I think we` ll be mates for life. So many memories and so much nostagia in This one. I stil have an old version which I hold on too as long as possible.

First time I ever smelled this was at Owings Mills Mall/MD..1986..walking thru Lord & Taylor, with my Mom….passing thru the cosmetics dept on our way to buy me some shoes at the Foot Locker. I was 17 yo, LOL. That’s how embedded that memory is to this day. And the ENTIRE cosmetic/fragrance dept., was FLOODED with the smell of Obsession… left and right…no other perfume seemed to matter. A year or so into its existence, and it was still VERY popular at that time. My Mom actually liked it but not as much she loved vintage ‘Diva’ or Joy, way back in the day. And Boucheron pour Femme, eventually became her sig scent a few yrs later, anyway.
…but my very first memory of this fragrance conjures up images of watching a dozen or so females, crowding around a young girl, with the tester in her hand..as she sprayed wrist after wrist. They looked like a pack of wolves circling a goat. My Mom smelled the air..sorta smirked at all the commotion…and we kept it moving to Foot Locker and Vito’s Pizza. (sigh)
I wore a reformulation of it about 5 yrs ago, because these days it smells blatantly masculine to me.That wasn’t the case back in the 80s when it was smoother, softer…albeit, stronger. It has something of an acrid edge to the musk & ‘fake’ civet nowadays that it didn’t have so many yrs ago. But believe it or not, it STILL maintains a fair enough resemblance to the very first bottle. You smell it and you know those combination of notes, ANYWHERE….anytime. Probably Klein’s best overall perfume.

There is so many emotional aspects to this fragrance.
First of all for me, born in 1983, it carries a lot of nostalgia. It’s impossible to have grown up in the 80’s and 90’s in the West and not recognize the scent. And who didn’t see the bottle either on their mom’s or a friend’s mom’s vanity at some point?
So besides a blast of fresh citrus notes and ambery pepper the first spritz for my generation is bound to come with an entire wave of memories as we grew up with this fragrance.
Yet for a long time I wouldn’t have dreamed of getting myself a bottle and a lot of it has to do with its Kate Moss marketing campaign. It was the height of ‘cocain/anorexic chic’, a quite infamous phase in the fashion industry.
I remember her more tumbling than walking through the TV ad barely audible whispering ‘Obsession’, which a German comedian poked fun at claiming it looks more like she was actually trying to say ‘Gimme food.’ (Btw. no offense to naturally skinny women. You rock. Just back then we really were bombarded with that body ideal in the media and I saw more than one girl trying to push her body to look the same even if by very unhealthy means… for some time myself included.)
Anyway, fast forward to 2017 while waiting for my hubby to pick something in a CK store in Mumbai I sampled pretty much all the fragrances they had on display and… found myself quite drawn to it.
Its spiciness makes you feel instantly awake, alert, focused and confident. I don’t find it as much a sensual fragrance rather than a confident one. It doesn’t have any girly girl or sultry vibe to me. The way it’s blended it doesn’t even seem all that much like a perfume but there is almost more an aroma therapy aspect to to it.
Looking at nowadays men’s and women’s fragrances, I think that this could easily fly as unisex today.
In the Mumbai heat it’ll keep its spicy vibrancy throughout the entire day. The notes fit incredibly well with India (pepper, sandalwood, jasmin, incense, rose…) and it has the potential to become a staple for me at least in this climate.

One of the best fall scents ever too grace us!! Cinnabar, Youthdew, Clinique Aromatic Elixer And Dior Dune are the best fall scents IMO!!!

I avoided this for years because I thought the TV commercials were extremely annoying . Two years ago I picked up a bottle out of curiosity and was blown away . Obsession , to me, is a beautiful, feminine, vanilla floral . It is not that sexy in my opinion , but it is wonderful !
I own a lot of fragrances, but hold Calvin Klein in high esteem. Truth, Obsession, and Euphoria, are fantastic perfumes and are so affordable . Besides being affordable, they are very UNIQUE . Obsession is a standout , first rate fragrance .

Edit: I have to stop making reviews after the first wear of perfume!!! The next time I wore this, I gave it a good 6 sprays and it lasted from morning until evening. The whole day I kept getting wafts of this and I was outdoors most of the time! The next few days I had moments when I was craving/getting reminded by it(but didn’t wear it), today again… so I had to apply it. Ohh, sweet nectar of gods, I start to realise there’s a lot of sweetness in an old school kind of way, ambery, from back when perfumes were statements and you didn’t change them that often. Turning into love:)
Long story short: this is a grower, give it time to impress you !
I will leave the initial review bellow, it might help others that are shocked by this beauty:
I have to agree with the reviewers that say the sweetness of this is not balanced out, it needs more depth.
First impression on me is this: Crushed medicine in a leather bag with some crushed make up and incense.
This could have been a love, it is sooo close to it, maybe layered, but I’m so sorry it doesn’t agree with me. Will do further testing on freezing weather, I’m sure it will feel warm in winter. I blame the reformulation and poor quality materials.

Obsession opens with cinnamon and other spices I can’t identify. There’s also a strange sweetness that comes forward, maybe vanilla? I can’t detect anything floral or sharp in Obsession. No incense richness either. It would be a better fragrance if the sweetness was balanced out. While I like rich and spicy fragrances like Youth Dew and Cinnabar, Obsession is just cloying and frankly a bit cheap because of the artificial notes.
On my skin only sugar remains, just like with Mugler’s Angel. Unless some surprise base notes appear soon, I will put Obsession into the thumbs down column.

I love Love LOVE Obsession. It is intense, dark, warm, sexy and powerful.
It makes me feel so sexy. I love the smoke, musk, and spice notes the most. I also love the complexity of it. It has so many notes but they all melt into one another. I miss perfumes like that. Most perfumes today are too simplistic. Even when they have a lot of notes, they seem to get lost in more powerful notes. The notes in obsession work together, each playing a special role to deliver the sexual experience.
It just makes me feel so damn sexy. When I wear this perfume, I think of myself in a skin-tight black wrap dress with cleavage and a wild afro. I feel like I can make any man do anything I want. I LOVE IT. My fav date night perfume. Men love this perfume on me. I had a guy once hug me too long. Another guy that stood too close to me on line at the airport. I get complimented by men left and right when I wear this.
It is very out of place on my typical perfume rotation. I am a very feminine, girly type of person. I love light, warm, and sweet garment perfumes. I’m a pink packaging with bows type of girl. However, this takes me to a deeper, more grown and naughty side of myself.
    10/10.
BTW, I have the new version, not the old one.

I have a “vintage” bottle of this with the gold rimmed cap, and the newer version. Interestingly enough, I use the newer version WAY more than my older bottle. I find the reformulated version much more wearable. I don’t have the scent memories that a lot of other people have with the original of this perfume, which is why I probably enjoy the newer version, as it feels less dated to me, to be honest! But man oh man do I crave this smell in the fall. Can’t wait to start wearing it soon. I usually spray two sprays behind my ears and it is just heavenly wafting around me all day.

Ever see the 80s movie “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”? This is what I picture the girlfriend, Sloane Peterson smelling like. Spicy, sensual and just a tiny bit wild. Obsession really feels like a fall and winter scent to me. I get the impression of a well worn leather jacket with traces of perfume clinging to the lining (In the case of Sloane, that jacket would be white with fringe). The longevity is great and the sillage is enormous, only one or two sprays of Obsession will get most people through an entire day. A light hand in applying is key. Dries down to a smoky powdered musk. I remember smelling this plenty in the 80s and 90s but it’s not dated at all. Anyone who likes warm spicy or slightly animalic scents should try out Obsession.

Jean Guichard is the director of the Givaudan Perfumery School.
He is highly praised by his students and an incredibly accomplished master perfumer whose signed works include hits such as Cacharel Eden, Cartier So Preety, Madame de Carven, Soleil de Fragonard, Hermes Concentreé d’Orange Verte, the magnific Montana’s Parfume de Peau, Paco Rabanne La Nuit, Donna Trussardi, Dior Poison Esprit de Parfum and… Calvin Klein Obsession. He grew up in Grasse – the perfume nation capital – where his father grew flowers for the perfume industry. His son Aurelien Guichard is also an accomplished perfumer in his own right.
Women perfumes – some of them quite fantastic – have always been the preference of Guichard. Well.. some unisex as well.
Calvin Klein Obsession is a terrific Oriental Spicy feminine fragrance, with niche quality and superb blending.
I bought it for my wife after being really impressed with the men’s cologne. I could not help judging it as an unisex scent right from the first sniff.
It opens with a shy citric and herbal green accord that quickly unveils a dry woodiness, a glorious vanilla and a spices accord. A bitter deep balsamic incense envelopes the leathery civet and the warm and powdery amber. As a final development, a new vanilla develops in this swirling complex scent, fooling you to believe that this is a sweet fragrance.
This is very long lasting perfume and two sprays is more than enough to give you all the juice that you need for a full day. Obsession will be even more beautiful with colder weather when the vanilla and amber notes projection will be more noticeble whilst moving around, while the dry incense and the musky animalic civet impress more as a skin scent.
In all stages the fragrance reveals class and sophistication. A supreme quality and a general sensual, rounded, deep feeling is quite evident.
It’s my best “feminine as unisex” purchase ever, making me happier than with the Angel and Muse purchase I did some while ago.
How do I rate my Obsession?
    – Scent opening: 8.75 (enchanting sweet bitter opening)
    – Scent Dry Down: 10.0 (supreme balsamic vanilla amber accord)
    – Longevity: 9.0 ( >10 hours, 2 initial sprays)
    – Sillage: 8.5 (sillage peak at 6~7 feet, projection for 2.5+ hours)
    – Versatility: 8.0 (This is a Winter/Fall/Spring/Night fragrance)
    – Usability: 9.0 (very good for almost any situation)
    – Compliments: 9.5 (a natural compliment grabber)
    – Uniqueness: 9.0 (some similarities with one expensive fragrance)
    – Quality: 9.5 (very good over all quality)
    – Presentation: 7.5 (a “does the job” bottle)
    – Price: 10.0 (€20,00 for 100 ml tester.)
    Average: 8.98/10.00
up to 5 = avoid it
    between 5 and 6 = under average
    between 6 and 7 = average
    between 7 and 8 =above average
    between 8 and 9 = recomended
    bigger than 9 = don’t miss it
Opinion on CK Obsession: It’s damn good!
Blind buy worthy: Yes if you are a girl or if the perfume is a gift for a lady friend. If you are a man and intend to use it yourself, it’s better you try it before you buy it!

My sample is from a 2014 bottle. Green, citric opening. Somewhat herbal, settles down into a dry woodiness that reminds me somewhat of Dior’s Dune. Almost antiseptic quality to it before the vanilla and spices appear. Bitter, rounded and deep incense smell overall. This is my first experience with civet and its like old, dry leather, adding depth and completely removing any chance of sweetness from the vanilla. Amber is warm and powdery.
This is very long lasting and two sprays was enough to give me mild head pain, so only one is needed. Suspect this will be even more beautiful in colder weather (curse you, current UK heatwave!)Vanilla amber aspect is more noticeble in it’s projection whilst moving around, the dry incense civet quality moreso when you smell it on skin.
Sensual, rounded, deep. I’m impressed with this and would love to smell a vintage. It’s still a little ‘dated’ but I happen to like that a lot. Gorgeous scent.

Where has this been my whole life? I think I was put off by the commercials!
I love it. Starts a bit sharp and green, with echos of ‘Safari’ but soon mellows to a warm amber. It reminds me of an ‘opium light’! There’s a touch of plastic in there but nothing serious.
Seems to sit close to the skin. But it’s reasonably priced, so you can be generous!
I’m now on the search for a vintage bottle to see how it differs.

Classic vintages vs The Millenials in the tropics
We’re currently on a vacation on our home country where everyone and by everyone I mean everyone wears the fragrance in the fruity, florals, citrusy, clean musk and aquatic category. From old to young.
As for me who is under the age of 20,I came into around people as an offender when it comes to this perfume as of people are not really well versed to this spicy-powdery-smokey perfume.I love this scent so much because the sweetness and spiciness and powderiness of it reminds me of YSL’s opium(Hell of a nuclear). It just brings me back to my childhood during a special event when my mom wears this or Coco by Chanel. The moment I pass by people and they get a whiff of it,they start rubbing their noses. And I make people turn their heads either in the worst or best way possible.(Hence the title)And this is a heavy hitter but under tropical weather,it pulls it in and closes up the aroma to the point that it’s no really cloying, and will perform better once you come in an air conditioned place like the mall.
I love this perfume so much and you wont stop me from wearing this.
Longevity is pretty good:6-8 hours and I assure you that it’ll last longer during the winter. It also holds great on clothes.
    Sillage:Strong enough to offend people.Haha

Oh dear, another blind buy courtesy of the eofy sales – at first I was pleasantly surprised by the warm cinnamon and rum scent, but wasn’t sure about the floral bouquet underneath. Over time the scent has settled into something reminiscent of insect repellent. Not one for me.

Revisiting this one.. I reviewed before but I have more to say now that I’ve owned Obsession for awhile and gotten to know it better, both the vintage and current formulation. This may be an unpopular opinion, but I actually enjoy the reformulation more than the vintage! I feel this way for a lot of perfumes as it seems I either have terrible luck or many vintages just have that “off”/”old” note that always makes me wrinkle my nose a bit and can mask the nuances of a fragrance that would otherwise be present in a fresh bottle.
Anyway, the current flavor of Obsession has a sweet green note to it that I really love that the vintage lacks. The vintage is far more unisex-leaning, more masculine than feminine for sure. It is rougher with sharp edges while the new version is smoother and more sumptuous. I can appreciate the strength behind the vintage but I don’t feel feminine when I wear it, I feel a bit self conscious and masculine and that says alot since normally I can rock a couple sprays of Youth-Dew and not give a damn what anyone thinks. But, Youth-Dew is a feminine scent anyhow 🙂
Vintage Obsession makes me think of red flannel and chest hair.. current Obsession is an autumn colored maxi skirt and cream cashmere sweater, with tousled beach waves, maybe pulled up in a messy bun. Earthy, natural, feminine. Maybe others see a powerful businesswoman with 80s shoulder-pads but I don’t really get that vibe! I find it comforting and cozy in its spicy sweetness…and I’m happy to say my husband actually loves this one on me, he likes so few of my classic fragrances!

This was my signature for many years and I still absolutely love this perfume, but please, for those who loves a heavy sprayer, have mercy on those who don’t want to smell 8 sprays on this on you in a closed small office with no windows for 8 hrs a day on long hot summer days, or any weather for that matter.
I have a work colleague who does this and with Opium as well.
    It’s way too much.
    2 is plenty.
After an hour, I start feeling nauseated. Remember hefty dose of this on a sweaty summer skin can be too much for others around.

  23. :

It took me a minute to unpack the way this smells. It’s certainly unique and heavy, which is what I usually like.
First of all, if your skin happens to eat fragrance like mine, this isn’t powerful enough to overcome it. It’s a skin scent on me after about 20 minutes, but it does last a long time.
I generally don’t like spraying perfume on clothing (and can’t spray on my hair, because the alcohol dries it out too much), but it does tend to project a lot better on clothing.
Some people may wear a statement necklace or have a statement handbag. This is a statement fragrance.
The opening is really powerful, and then after it dries down, a sweetness and powdery vanilla show up.
I was really fascinated by this perfume. It’s anything but boring.
    *Edit*
I was wrong about it being a skin scent. That was based on a sample that I had to dab. But I just bought a small bottle of it and sprayed it once on my arm, and it is STRONG! Makes me like it even more!

    Vanilla, powdery, and spicy citrus.
This is sensual, quite powdery animalic with hint of sweetness underneath spices, and citrus. The basil is quite clear, so is the coriander. the civet is shown as well with oakmoss, vetiver, musk, jasmines, and huge junks of amber.
I remember i have sniffed it long ago and didn’t dislike it back then, as a matter of fact, i convinced my bro to purchase it, and he did, but now he is complaining that it’s too heavy. to be it’s impressive.

Too masculine for me.. I blind bought it and was hoping to like it, but when I smell it I connect it with something bad, I don’t know, maybe I have some kind of unconscious memory with a similar smell, but I don’t like it at all, it’s just not for me

I just got Obsession on the mail this afternoon. I won it at Ebay and I was anxiously waiting to arrive to try it.
And I tried it. I must admit, I’m so clueless that at the beginning I thought they sent me the wrong perfume and this was a men’s fragrance.
I first got an overwhelming old spice deja vu. And Oh, how I detest Old spice and that white bottle (I love the bottle, to be honest).
I was patient, and waited for the perfume to settle down. I waited two hours, three hours…I’m still clueless. On my skin, Obsession is sweet. But is not a gourmand sweetness. This sweetness is exactly the smell of a tobacco pipe smoke. Sweet, spicy, indulgent, enveloping. and on my skin, no matter how many hours passed, I still can smell pipe smoke.
I’m clueless… but I’m also curious about it.

This made me feel really sick. How is “leather” not listed here?! I felt like I was full leathers in a saddle in the hot sun. Or covered in that awful burning rubber smell when a car has been running for ages. Couldn’t wait to get it off and apply my LouLou again!

Beautiful fragrance, I use 3 heavy sprays and it last for hours upon hours on my clothes and skin… Masterpiece!!! (Vintage formula) (brown lid with gold ring around it is perfection.)

Obsession is my guilty pleasure, although I’ll readily admit to it. The first time I got a whiff, I thought it was old lady like, pungent, very 1990’s, and very gross. Smelled like a cheap drugstore perfume. But lo and behold, a few hours later I got a whiff of the most warm, enveloping, inviting scent. It was obsession! I wouldn’t wear it, as I feel it still is a bit dated, but I’ve sprayed it on super cold winter nights on my sheets to go to sleep. It is an oddly comforting scent. The phallic bottle shape also amused my younger self.

    wooooow
    finally a real perfume
    not chocolat
    not strawberry
    not plum
    not candy and caramel
The first notes are green and somehow not so pleasant but when it settles it becomes beautifull
I have not had the vintage but this is so powerfull and potent
    big like

I won’t describe the notes here coz enough comment from others but I’m here to share what Obsession personally means to me. A rich friend in Uni 25 years ago wore this and I fell in love straight away but I was just a student and could not afford it. So when I got my first job and salary this was the first perfume I ever bought and I still wear this besides other brands. Obsession is like a time machine to me. Every spray still brings me back to my past and the face of that friend whom I’m never seen for 17 years! Once you go Obsession you never like flowery girly scent! That applies to me. I’m addicted to perfume with “pungent” scent.

A couple of sprays in the air and a walk thru’ the lingering fragrance is all you need with this powerful oriental fragrance. Try enhancing by combining it with a spray of Tabu, it will envelope you with exotic incense. Definitely an evening fragrance or winter warmth spicey fragrance.

I took a shower and sprayed 4 sprays on my shirt and my goodness this shit is strong. For now on I’ll only do 3 sprays. I have made this one of my signature scents along side my beloved beautiful. I think this is one of those perfumes that can easily over do. I love it so much Obsession is my new obsession. Just phenomenal. Masterpiece (Vintage).

I was at Kohl’s last night went there too buy my grand daughter an outfit. What’s pitiful is when you are a perfume addict such as myself, all you have too do is see perfume and most likely you end up in the perfume counter. lol, I saw a bottle of Obsession edp sitting there I sprayed some on my arm and OMG was it’s gorgeous. For some reason every time I buy a bottle for myself I end up not liking it and end up selling it. I must get another bottle of this the one with the Gold ring around the top of the bottle that the good obsession the vintage is the best. When I get paid soon I will be buying another bottle. I went back too Kohl’s and bought my granddaughter the outfit that I forgot too get last nite. Sorry for my rambling on I tend too do that lol. Obsession is such a sexy beast of a perfume I’m in love all over again.

I don’t understand what’s the deal with this perfume.
I had never tried it before, and bought it because it is supposed to be a really big performer.
On me, it desappears in about an hour.
I got the bottle without the gold ring, I know this isn’t the best version (it’s the current one, though), but one hour (2, at best) seems too short lived for me.
A pity, because I totally love the scent, so nice and different from modern fruity florals.
EDIT: Maybe something changed in my head or I’m just applying loads of it (6-8 sprays), but now I’m getting nice longevity. More than 12 hours so that’ts great. You just need to use more.
I’m not sure about sillage though. I think it’s moderate because if I can smell it crearly on me, someone close to me should get it as well.

The gold band on the cap is the key to perfection.

Reading the reviews had made me believe that I would love this fragrance, but I just don’t. There is a cloying sweet note that permeates throughout the whole thing and it throws the composition way off balance.

Not my thing. I think it smells dated. It is spicy but has a sweet side to it that doesn’t work very well. To me, it smells a bit like cinnamon. I was expecting it to be spicier, but it is actually safe. i think it can be a good introduction into spicy perfumes. Anyway, i will pass. Not a bad fragrance, but nothing for me.

Man I love this perfume. It’s up there with Elizabeth Arden’s red door and Opium. My grandmother wore Opium, red door and this perfume when I was a kid and still kinda does. This perfume is the epitome of a winter scent! THIS is what a winter scent should smell like. It’s oh so warm, toasty, nutty, feminine and grown! Yes I said it this perfume is for the grown only. It smells so intoxicating.

Warm cinnamon, coriander, nutmeg, other spices, amber, and civet! Incense! Everything that points to WARMTH is this perfume. I love it and find it so versatile.
Pure comfort. My boyfriend loves when I wear this. He cuddles up into my sweater, breathes in, and lets out a loving sigh. I feel like this is love in scent form. It also works out because he wears Obsession for Men, so we smell great together when I choose this. 🙂

Nowadays, no perfume (apart from Arabians) is made with natural animal secretions such as civet musk, (now is civetone). If you buy vintage, probably it will be poor civet’s musk (the animal had to be killed for the manufacture). but nowadays it is civetone and other synthetic compounds, so enjoy Obsession.

I wore this in the 80’s and I am wearing it today. I still like it so much! This has a lot going on in the note description. I smell vanilla, spices and incense. I am really enjoying wearing it today.
I am so happy that I decided to purchase the fragrances I wore in my youth. I like scents to have a bit of a kick and this still does not disappoint.

I got a partial bottle of this from my Mother, and turns out it is the old formulation. When I first sprayed it, I thought I would not like it- the first sniff was a strong, powdery hit that I thought would turn into what I thought of as a “Bank of England” smell (edit: when I first wrote this review I didn’t know about the conversations surrounding labeling fragrances that way). However, it grew on me, though not sure yet if I will re-buy it once my current bottle runs out. I get sandalwood, cinnamon, and lime peels up front, then get vanilla, bitter orange, cedar, incense, and ambe
