Eden Cacharel for women of Cacharel

Share:

Description

This is one of the most famous Cacharel fragrances. The opening blends luminuous citrus notes. The cold water freshness of water lily in the heart is combined with heady floral notes (tuberose, mimose, jasmine, rose and lily-of-the-valley) and sweet juicy fruits (pineapple and mellon). The water notes are in the perfect harmony with sharp patchouli and warm woody base of cedar, sandal and Tonka bean. The perfume was created by Jean Guichard in 1994.

Eden is a sweet smelling garden. I used to love Anais Anais as a teenager and I wanted to try this. I’m really happy I bought it. There is something that sets me free when I use this. A certain uninhibited fresh youthfulness and I am going to enjoy exploring this fragrance. It just sort of opens up my senses.
It is a strong scent and lasted nearly 8 hours on my skin.
Eden is for those who want to be free and don’t care about pleasing others all the time. Not for everyday wear according to me.

I love unique fragrances. But I’ll admit the first spray of Eden scared me. It was a blind buy and I thought to myself that, since I’d kept the box, I could just put it up on eBay as “sprayed once.” I tested it on my left wrist and got a cold, mentholated blast of jasmine not unlike Alien upon first sniff. The bergamot and melon/peach followed, but the camphorous edge persisted. I thought about scrubbing. But I went about my chores. 15 minutes in, I smelled a lush, damp garden wafting up as I folded laundry. The water lily, lotus, mimosa and tuberose had come out to play within cloud of green patchouli. Little visits from cedar and pineapple wove in and out during the development over an hour or so and the cold jasmine had all but disappeared.
I went back upstairs and added 2 more sprays to my skin!
Eden is challenging, but the tropical jungle complexity that you are rewarded with if you’re patient is totally worth it. It’s a rainy fall day here in NY and Eden suits that. I suspect, since reading other reviews, that she changes with the temperature and season. I’m going to wrestle with her and enjoy every moment of it! I think I’m in love.

I am visiting with an original release of Eden distributed by Cosmair in all of its quirky glory. Cacharel was avant gard and produced some of the most polarizing giants of the 20th century. From the ever youthful Anais Anais to the iconoclastic Lou Lou, Eden was destined for notoriety before it was released. It is full of surprises both good and bad.
What is inside this little jadite bottle that is quite unassuming? This is my first encounter of this marvel. This never caught on in the US market. Once again, its just little strange yet ever so alluring and endearing. The first spray induces panic. Is there a bitterness? What have I done? This is a potent EDP!
It opens with a dense green mutated galbanum, mimosa, pineapple/melon neroli dissonance that gets a plastic doll part nod. Then come the high frequency white florals that wrestle for attention. Which is stronger? The tuberose or jasmine. Could it be water lily? Lily of the valley or neroli again? Once the bouquet opens, it just gets bigger and louder. Its primal and at times brutal. Calone? Its not really aquatic. Like Lou Lou, it defies categorization.
This is colossal, like Poison or Giorgio. Yet its green, with patcholi and oakmoss!!! It dries down to something familiar and calm the morning after. There is this waxy smoothness that hold everything together. Even if its “whitewater rapids heart” gets a little out of control. You feel lost in a rainforest filled with dangerous hallucinogenic flowers. Yet there is something gentle in here. I had to check for bruises the next day…Just kidding!
Manic panic green hair, orange lipstick and grunge rock. Yes, I like it, however offensive it gets. This doesn’t belong in mainstream 1994. The amped up feed back shatters your olfactory sense. It works best in cold weather. You will get attention if you wear it in public.

There is a serpent in this garden.
This perfume both enchants and frightens me. It’s beautifully wet, dense and humid. Almost suffocating in its lush, overabundant LIFE, but its tinged with something unnerving, like at any moment your bare foot in the grass will reveal a snake ready to bite.
The snake here is the mimosa. It’s anisic, sweet and powdery and it contrasts so violently with the lush wetness of the melon and water lily. Once this scent is settled, the patchouli comes out and its like the smell of old books. Biblical, if you will.
I’ve been dancing around this scent for well over a year now. Do I like it? Do I not? Must I have it in my collection, must I not? I really don’t know. Perhaps a decant will help settle me. I love how it polarises me. I love how unique it is, yet I fear its unwearable for me because I don’t know if I can get over the mimosa. All my respect for this perfume though, to make me feel this way.

Wearing this perfume since I was a teenager. It smell green flowery fresh like walking on the garden of Eden should smell.

I sprayed on one wrist and rubbed it against the other one. Then I rubbed it on my arms, and furiously on my legs because I instantly loved it but WOW is it powerful! I was nearly overwhelmed by it to say the least. Pretty earthy! Earthy and pretty. A definite 10 and added to my ever growing collection. Reading the reviews and waiting to receive the perfume was like waiting to see a much anticipated movie. I was not disappointed! It is surreal.

Really pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoy Eden – I picked it up for next to nothing along with LouLou mostly because I was interested in LouLou and they were on a ‘buy one, get one half-price’ deal, and I wasn’t expecting much from this one. It certainly showed my expectations up!
It’s definitely a retro fragrance – sort of a 90s grunge girl vibe but also even earlier, there’s a 70s hippie dreaminess to it. It certainly feels like a fragrance that’s part of a wider aesthetic- I think it works best worn with a lot of denim, flannel or slightly faded colours; the green of the bottle is spot on.
Mimosa and lily of the valley are some of my favourite florals, and they’re definitely present here but one of the impressive things is the harmony of all the (perhaps not instinctively harmonious) notes – it smells of mimosa, lily of the valley, rose, water lily, tuberose but it’s not primarily any of those scents, and the fruity notes blend together in a similar way. I personally don’t mind patchouli; it’s definitely present but I don’t find it overwhelming, instead it harmonises with the others. It really doesn’t change much at all from first spray to skin scent – you just detect a hint of one floral, a hint of one fruit, a wave of sandalwood, a little patchouli, all fading in and out constantly, all day (and I mean ALL day). It’s like the fragrance equivalent to a shimmering aura, where you catch little glimpses of different colours all the time. The only floral I don’t get that’s listed is jasmine, but it’s no great loss with so much going on.
One of the things I do clearly get from it is a sort of suntan lotion smell, which I suppose is partly down to the melon, but definitely not JUST melon- I get why people might find it cheap or tacky but I seriously love it. Like in other aquatic fruity scents like Virgin Island Water (which, for the price of one bottle I could buy Eden ten times!) it’s not literally the smell of suntan lotion, but close enough it evokes that ‘far away, carefree paradise’ feeling. Oddly though, it’s not particularly a sunny smell to me – I think it evokes humid, stormy summer days and warm days at the start of autumn more than hot, beating sunshine. Definitely a weird smell, but it’s a special one and totally worth it for the price!
Also – if you want to experience Eden properly, absolutely spray it on your skin. There’s obviously a risk involved in case you hate it since it’s SO powerful and determined to stick around, but on a card tester there’s barely anything but a vague, chemical fruitiness that doesn’t stick around – maybe the smell of a children’s handwash. My low expectations partially came from spraying both Eden and LouLou onto card when I was unboxing, since I couldn’t smell them both on skin at once, and much more of LouLou’s personality can be detected without skin chemistry in the mix.

When I first sprayed this perfume I thought it was horrible. But….strange things happen. After a few minutes I kept wondering what that beautiful smell was. It was Eden. Deeply mossy, musk lolly, floral and seriously good.
    I bought a second bottle.

  9. :

The first time I tested this it was not pleasant. That must be about two years ago. Now…I quite like it.
It really does smell fresh, green and aquatic. It does smell a bit synthetic to but bearable.
It’s like a fantasy with water nymphs splashing about by a river in a verdant landscape and a unicorn grazing by a tree. No reality to be found but still very pleasant.
I immediately picked out the water Lily and the soft powdery sweetness of the mimosa. I cant say patch was easy to identify until an hour or so in. There are loads of notes listed above!
You can just about make out the floral and fruit notes.
It has good longevity and sillage.
If you want to smell clean and wholesome then this fits the bill. The perfect first perfume for a teenager.

I first knew about this brand from its bestseller Anais Anais in the duty free shop at airport. Today I got a chance to try on other perfumes and Eden attracted my attention both by its name and its design of box.
I have to admit that I picked it up mostly because I wanted to know how Eden smell like in others’ perception but, ummm, it’s partly Eden and partly not.
I could smell nothing but patchouli and mimosa and the perfume began in a fresh and strong patchouli, which is an ingredient I do not like. It then followed up by the smell of mimosa, with a hint of sweetness adding to the the clean and cool vibe of patchouli. Nevretheless, it leaned towards the fresh and clean side than the sweet side.
I have to say I do not hate this fragrance. Considering the prominent smell of patchouli this is a surprise. Neither do I like it. Its freshness provides a hue which is reminiscent of Eden but it is also the patchouli smell that makes me distinguish it from Eden. It is not what Eden would smell like in my imagination.
However this is a piece of art even though I do not really like it. I admire fragrances which have their own characters and uniqueness even they are not my cup of tea because there are too many dupes existing in the market already.

    Strange and lovely!
Very juicy and sweet without being overbearing. There’s a touch of almond liqueur and touch of powder mixed with a rich, green, warm and gentle tropical breeze.
For some reason I get a strong beach vibe of this perfume and I think it may be similar to a popular sunscreen?

hmmmm…not sure about this one yet. First impression is some sort of chewing gum smell. Very heavy smelling. Very powdery with a strange sort of green. I used 4 sprays. I think that was way tooooo much. Two sprays would do it. The heaviness is somewhat cloying. It seems to be one dimensional and lacks the nuance i love in some fragrances. Will try again at a later date when my nose has recovered using much less….even one spray might do. It smells like nothing I have ever experienced in a perfume before. Sometimes these take more than one try to appreciate. It is a POWER HOUSE for sure! May be better in cooler weather.

This is about chemistry. On me Eden is really a paradise, such a long lasting sweet perfume of flowers and fruits ( especially melon, but, on my skin, a much more delicious melon than Escape’s). India Misteriosa really resembles Eden but with an incense that is not in the original and detracts from the atmosphere.

I haven’t smelled this but the combination of notes is very odd. Aquatic+ powdery + melon? Not sure I want to, after the last review…lol.

I’m usually very open to wathever fragrance comes to my hands.
I’m alwats finding some deep, hidden quality that I end up adoring.
It has not been the case with Eden…yet.
Eden is soffocating. Humid, dense, plasticly sweet and dense.
It smells like mucus, just like that.
I’ll try to give this a second chance, hoping that Eden can captivate me, but for now, I just love the bottle. Such a nice green color and shape!

I bought this modern version as an olfactory challenge really, to use it on a quiet “me” days. But I got a really positive response from my husband, who usually just muses sarcastically: “hmmm, another vintage creation..” haha.
He said it smells amazing and didn’t think it was a vintage scent.
Well, I find it wonderful and somehow comforting. I get the Kenzo Elephant vibe.
The design of the bottle and the box is a well-thought-out perfection! Call me weird, but I see the bottle as a stylised, artsy interpretation of a woman’s breast. The connection might be concealed with the green colour, but imagine it in pink? 🙂 Corresponds with the advertising! Also notice how the bottom of the bottle is shaped as a leaf/ petal..
    Mysterious, edgy and stylish. Love.

I really love this,as a lover of green perfumes…….but i will tell you exactly what it smells like……all good, and i have always loved the smell i am about to describe…it is…when you were a kid and took a brand new “My Little Pony” out of its packet, and sniffed its mane ! And Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit chewing gum fresh out of its wrapper with the ‘dust’ still on it ! But there is kinda something magical and uplifting about smelling it on yourself, and yes,it does smell like a paradise jungle with melons and pineapples and rubber-plants and waterfall lagoons!

I still haven’t got around to purchasing my second bottle, after finding a vintage 30ml.
Unfortunately I finished up my vintage bottle, but never threw out the bottle..I never could, it’s green (my favourite colour) and it’s like a mini magic bottle. I put it away, and today I happened to come face to face with it once again 🙂
I opened the lid and sniffed the nozzle! Like c’mon how can a perfume smell so PERFECT❤️ I had hope that there would’ve been at least a drop worth inside.. To my surprise there was!!! I applied it on my wrist and rubbed it into my other wrist.
How can a tiny droplet smell so loud? It’s screaming “I’M HERE”… This stuff is honestly amazing! I love you Eden

The delicious smell of a beautiful garden. It’s not really suffocating as some people say, it’s quite fresh, very green, although white florals and fruits are prominent. Opulent, sensual, mystical. It’s not considered a timeless classic for nothing.

I remember smelling Eden on a girl in sixth from back in 1996 and was instantly hooked. As I got older I left it behind but about 10 years a go I found myself away without perfume (I know! The shame!) Any way as I was on a budget I decided to look at mid price fumes in Boots and decided to try Eden again.
Anyway I was really disappointed. It was different. Only lasted an hour at the most and its heart seemed to be missing. Suffice to say I never bought it again… until now. I happened to stumble on a 1997 bottle on Ebay and also bought a current one for comparison purposes. Both smell of Eden but from the first spray the 1997 one smells different. It’s almost more masculine and when it dries down it is deeper and mysterious. The current one seems almost like what would be a good dupe of the original. I will treasure my 1997 bottle but will still enjoy the newer one.
As for the scent itself, it is polarising. I can understand why people like it and utterly dislike it but that is the same for any art! If you want to play it safe you cater for a mass market but for me being safe is not what art is about. It is about individual expression and realising that humans have different feelings about what excites there senses.
For me, Eden, whilst generally described ‘green’ is also quite woody and leathery at the same time as a hot humid jungle with insect and exotic bird noises in the background. I find it a real treat to my senses. I don’t think it has dated as I don’t think I have come across anything especially similar. I find it one of a kind. A brave perfume. It is definitely a classic and a statement piece. For hot summer days it is so alluring.
I am not a massive fan of any of the other fragrances from Cacharel, even though I have vintage examples of them as a collector but I love Eden. I find it quite complex and intriguing.
It has been an hour since I sprayed the new and the vintage on my wrists. The vintage is smelling better and better. The new stuff… Barely a whiff at all.
On a final note I know that reformulations are shrouded in secrecy but wouldn’t it be great if companies would spill the beans on what it is they have done, just for us perfume fanatics. I hate not knowing a much as I hate the fact they do it in the first place but it would be fascinating to find out what they have done to our old favourites!!

I never wear Chacharel’s perfume but I remember the huge success of Anaïs when I was a teenager and the beautiful magazine’s ads of Loulou and Eden. I dedided to try for the first time Eden after so many years because the comments on this perfume is so polarising. Often thoses perfumes have a very strong personnality and signature. It’s the case of Eden. I never was a big fan of florals but this one is one of a kind. Unusual but not odd. It’s green but sweet/gourmand at the same time. Far from the usual fresh or mossy green. I think this aspect was probably never done before. Maybe is the reason why Eden was not a huge success like Anais and Loulou. In the 90’s we were not use to the niche ”experimentations” as we are today.

This is a very special and unique fragrance, immediately taking me to an enchanted forest. The perfume is a deep forest in a bottle, with ponds and all the fairy tale creatures in it. 1-2 sprays are enough for a long time, very long lasting and heavy sillage. In my opinion, not for every day use and not for the evening. I like to wear it when I go hiking in summer time.

My apologies to the people who like this fragrance. It was officially my last blind buy (well, not really). I usually love earthy green fragrances, but I just get a stale rancid synthetic plastic playdoh type of smell from this one. It does persist and even remained after I tried to wash it off. Perhaps the bottle I bought on eBay had turned. I’m glad some people like it, but this was not for me.

    I just simply love this!
Seems like it works great with my skin chemistry. I love wearing it when it’s rainy outside, it developes in a loveable and mystic smell and everyone asks what am I wearing?
Yes, I share the opinion that this is not for everyone and I think Eden can’t be a signature perfume, because it works great in a cold day, but when it is hot, it makes sick everoyne around those who wear it.

  27. :

    3 out of 5

I posted a review below of my first time wearing Eden. Now, I have had it for quite awhile.
Firstly, I think this is one of those temperature dependent scents. It smells so good on warm and hot days! Very refreshing without being too “aquatic” or “fresh.”
I don’t know that I can still adequately describe what I am smelling but it rocks! I have even gotten a few random compliments while wearing this. IEden is still not as green as I thought it would be. I am picking up primarily mimosa, melon (?), water Lilly (?) and cedar…maybe? It really is that hard to describe.
I guess I get the “jungle floor” type of vibe, although it is nowhere near on the same level of intensity as something like Zoologist’s Macaque.
Very wearable, unique, smells fantastic yet undefinable, and quite affordable. The only downside is that I do not recommend it as a blind buy (even though I bought it blind) because it is so different than what most people are wearing currently.

I have tried – very hard – to immunise myself against Eden, because it is my mum’s signature scent. She lives a long way from us; I only see her when we travel down during the school summer holidays. I can’t ask mum not to wear it – even if she took a break from it for the fortnight or so that I spend with her, the smell (along with that of cigarette smoke) permeates her house and everything she owns or touches. Eden, cigarettes, my mum (and the cat) are inseparable.
I try to break myself in before we drive down, by spraying a tiny amount of Eden onto a piece of tissue, when outside in the garden, and gently wafting it beneath my nose…
Sadly, Eden brings on a raging headache nearly every time I smell it in anything other than the lowest possible concentration. If I am tired (which invariably makes me feel queasy, for some reason), the smell of Eden pushes me forcibly into migraine territory. I wish I could love it, if only because my mum does.
Eden is a powerful perfume, with nuclear sillage and longevity – please apply it with care as it shouts “GREEN!” at the top of its lungs.

I have tried Eden at least twice in my life, and loved it in the very first minutes, even after 15 mins. And I tried to keep loving it still… But after a while it invariably makes me nauseating and sick. My body simply does not tolerate this perfume. And although really nice in the opening, it also feels a little bit synthetic. I find it a complex scent though, and with depth.

I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this perfume!
I was lucky enough to find a vintage bottle in an antique store, unfortunately it was 30ml.
But it did last a while, I was spraying very little, because that’s all you need with this one!
It’s gorgeous, it doesn’t smell like any other perfume I have. It has its own uniqueness❤️
Very gorgeous, to me it smells kinda cold if that makes sense?
It also had a minty vibe, quiet green! I fell in love with this the second I sprayed it on.
Sad to say my bottle is finished now, but that won’t stop be from wanting more.
My next step is to buy a 50ml.. Hoping it’d smell the same as the vintage I had!
    Fingers crossed.

    A: What is it?!
    B: What do you mean?
    A: That… hm… smell around.
    B: I guess it´s my perfume.
    A: No, it´s not!
B: Yes, it is! It´s Eden. Don´t you like it?
    A: Well… I don´t know. I think it´s like if a carnivorous
plant was chewing a Juicy Fruit bubble gum, that´s what
I think if you´re asking me. It´s strange.
B: Don´t be silly. And what about unripe peaches, citruses
    & white flowers?
A: Nothing like this. Maybe some wet soil & lily-of-the-
    valley.
B: You´re right. Do you like it a little bit more by now?
A: I´m getting used to it.
B: Maybe one day you will love it. You should give it a
    chance. I love this scent. It´s wild, it´s raw & it´s
not for everyone. You must love it – or leave it. It´s
Eden. I know that I should wear it with caution – but
that´s the way I like it. Eden forever!

I bought this fragrance recently and the smell is so unique a rare that has become one of my favorites scents ever! I totally understand all the hate about this, is not for everyone. It is sad that this day the people prefer the mainstream scents, the common ones, the ones with nothing special on it…that discard the truly gems in perfumery scene. Maybe I’m the few people that doesn’t like to wear the fragrances that everybody wears, the ones that you find in every counter or every mall…if you like to smell diferent just try this perfume BUT you have to be open minded!

  34. :

I am trying to get a handle on Eden. Again, like it’s sister LouLou, I think some of the reviews about its weirdness are a little excessive. It’s a pretty, mimosa-based fragrance with some greeness running through, although it’s not as green as I was hoping.
It smells so familiar and I am wracking my brain trying to figure out from where I know it. The sillage and longevity seem to be diminished in the current formulation; it is sitting very close to my sling within fifteen minutes of spraying.
It smells clean, in a way, but not soapy. I like it; it is not a love right now. Maybe after it rests for a few days (just got it in today). I also haven’t worn it around anyone so no one has given me any feedback.
That last paragraph sounds negative but it isn’t. Eden is a nice perfume and I like it.

Very harsh and clumsy in its appearance, plastic and completely artificial. It creates a slight burning sensation in my nose and I smell malfunctioning electronic gadgets…a large mix of random chemicals, some sweet, some bitter some just strange are thrown around by a mad scientist with the desperate intent to mimic the natural world,…(which has been dead for 300 years, so this is created for people who have no memory of the real thing)
It is a futuristic scent, but it’s from a future we all fear where hearts are cold and AI is mixed with everything. The name is ironic.

After reading all the opposing, weird and wonderful comments about this perfume, I had to get some. Another blind buy. I looooove this perfume … I was so happy I got some. It smells so classy. If I don’t look at any of the notes, I would say it smells like powdery, almost herbal flowers. I love Kenzo Jungle … and this does not smell anything like Kenzo. Kenzo is spice and this is herbal, field flowers … with a powdery touch. It doesn’t get in my nose, it’s not sharp, just a wonderful herbal flower scent. That’s what I smell. It reminds me of my of fragrances with Galbanum … a bit on the herbal side. I live on the Pacific coast of Canada and today I sprayed myself with Eden and went for a walk in the near freezing weather at the ocean and the perfume smelled beautiful … went perfect with the ocean air. I wish it’s initial strength would last longer …. I wear my perfumes for me … “I” want to smell them.

Unique fragrance, balsamic I would say, essency, mysterious, intriguing and complicated. I would put it in my ‘Nothing else like it’ category along with Oriflame’s Mirage and Christian Lacroix’s Nuit. Three out of this world fragrances. It’s not my favorite, but there’s just something about it…

I’ve had 3 very different experiences with 3 different bottles of Eden.
#1 – a tester of presumably current formulation:
Aaaahhh so gratingly, aggressively green at first! Maybe it’s the patchouli? If so, it’s the greenest patchouli I’ve come across. Whatever it was, there was a strong depilatory feeling on my nose hairs. If I’d been anywhere near a bathroom I’d probably have scrubbed. Admittedly, this was after a decent double squirt on one wrist. Apparently this isn’t a perfume to spray til it’s dripping. It’ll hurt you! After a couple of hours it calmed down to something much more pleasant – that jungle floor vibe that seems to be a popular description. The harsh greenness mellowed and the other notes came forward, and they are something out of the ordinary. And the dry down is really very sniffable. Very smooth and enjoyably unusual.
#2 – another tester, different shop:
Much nicer. I sprayed a bit lighter this time, but even so this seemed like a less astringent fragrance. My nose hairs are safe this time! I really liked the fragrance this time round.
#3 – 2006 bottle that I bought (Is that vintage? Pre-reformulation? Who knows.:
Wow, much much softer. Still green, but it’s balanced really nicely with the fruits and flowers. I can spray this one quite heavily with no issues. In fact it could do to be a bit stronger. A nice garden symphony for the hot weather.
I generally prefer the unusual over the mainstream. Eden is certainly in a class of its own, or at least a pretty small class.

I’m so glad the reviewer below me mentioned licorice, I thought I might be crazy for getting a strong licorice note in the top of Eden. Similar to the licorice in Kenzo L’Elephant, though these two are otherwise completely different.
Eden is a bit difficult for me at first, because after the licorice top, it becomes really grassy green on my skin, without any sweetness, borderline soapy-fresh. Not offensive, but not my thing at all.
After about one hour the next phase emerges and I LOVE what comes next. There is still a lot of greenery, but it’s less grassy and rounded by many different aromas: Aquatic notes, hypnotic white and yellow flowers and lush, sweet ripe fruits. Melon, peach and tuberose are very present to me. I do smell patchouli, but it’s not a main player in my opinion, more of an earthy background note.
Additionally I get that weird 90s artsy plastic fruit texture/feeling I can’t really describe but also enjoy in Gucci Rush.
Even though I mentioned parts of 2 other perfumes, I think Eden is really unique taken as a whole. It’s a wild blend of many notes, I could never identify all of them. It has that green jungle feel so many mentioned, but it’s more than that, I think it also has something sexy and intriguing and is definitely not just a green perfume.
It’s fresh, but not light at all, it’s heady and strong and lasts really long.
I’m really curious how this behaves in warmer weather.
Though I don’t like the first hour too much I’m very impressed by the drydown and want a bottle. And I urge anyone who wants something unique, but also easily available and affordable, to try Eden.

Bombastic, complicated, weird and wonderful: Just like you might imagine Eden to be, all untamed flora and fauna and overblown foliage. It’s like being locked in spectacular greenhouse, high as a kite, with flower petals suddenly masquerading as fangs. I’m trying to paint a picture here: the stuff is kind of dangerous, kind of marvelous, and totally surreal.
I don’t smell lemons, or any citrus note in particular, at first spray: I smell black licorice. Fresh black licorice. Later, the black licorice note morphs into something softer, more powdery, but certainly no less potent. I don’t smell lily-of-the-valley ever, or detect any aquatic notes, but the rich florals and patchouli create a velvety, long lasting canopy of scent.
This perfume smells like The Rite of Spring sounds: it can be bracing, heralding a kind of primal combat; it speaks to beauty, but also to a kind of violence; the powerful, defiant and even ugly side of Nature.
While wearing it, some people fawned after me, and others visibly recoiled.
Eden is bizarre, and beautiful, much like I imagine its namesake to be. And capturing that in a bottle is an accomplishment, regardless of whether or not you like this perfume.

Aahh, an old friend of mine! Long time no see. You bring fond memories to me!
Those who used it in the 90s still like or love it now, I’m sure. All the haters were born later. Oh, poor things, keep sniffing your beloved syrupy concoctions all brewed happily in one pot, Eden is beyond your nose and mind!
    Sorry, I’m not attacking, I’m protecting 😉
Ok, ok, to be fair, I must admit, the mother of my boyfriend used to ask me if I was not choked by this perfume… and back then I only had a mini splash bottle which I dabbed slightly behind my ears… It is a jungle beast!! So, just in nano doses please!

I tried this perfume & find the scent somehow tricky, first thing i got was the smell of cumin !!! & i commented that why on earth would someone want to smell like a spice !! 15 minutes later I started getting some hint of mint. This is one of the rare fresh white flower scent in a minty way.
