I had a 20ml miniature of Noix de Coco de Malaisie in my collection all thanks to a beautiful friend in Europe who sent me this fragrance to review a few years ago. I apologise that I am only getting around to reviewing this scent today.
The good news is, I loved this fragrance. I polished off my bottle in record speed time. I found Noix de Coco de Malaisie’s coconut aroma very soothing and refreshing during Summer; a season that can be quite aggressive and hot where I live in Australia.
The coconut accord in this fragrance’s composition smelt more clean rather than gourmand and/or sweet to my nose. I often buy coconut scented soaps and shampoos, and believe it or not Noix de Coco de Malaisie smells exactly like TRESemme’s Botanique Restore & Shine Shampoo and Conditioner in the scent of coconut milk and aloe vera. I loved using both of these products together and would spray Noix de Coco de Malaisie with abandon after getting out of the shower.
It’s an uncomplicated coconut fragrance, and that to me is what makes this a winner. You could wear Noix de Coco de Malaisie so many different ways. It could quite easily be used as a layering scent, be worn as a soothing bed-time scent, or even keep you feeling fresh whilst lounging on the beach. All in all, Noix de Coco de Malaisie is a fragrance I will definitely miss next Summer. It’s a shame that Yves Rocher is not available in Australia.

I would call this coconut water if anything. It’s just sort of a watery, sugary thing. Those of us who complain about this coconut are looking for something a little creamier, fattier, nuttier…this is more on the floral/sweet side. That totally works for some people, but it didn’t quite meet my expectations this summer!

I adore Yves Rocher’s Vanilla around Christmas and Noix de Coco in the summer. Maybe other perfumes are too complex or the coconut note is mixed to death but this eau de toilette is pure coconut heaven to me. A mini bottle will always remain in my purse between May and August – just in case. To me it is longlasting and sillage is also great. Too bad that lots of people don’t enjoy the scent of coconut as much as I do. I use it sparingly and only when I know my date is also into coconut.

This is the second packaging of Noix de Coco. I have the original, this one and the newest (2016) one. They are ALL the exact SAME fragrance, thankfully. Only the packaging has changed through the decades.

I didn’t know Yves Rocher had two kinds of coconut fragrance, the one I tried at my friend’s house as a teenager surely wasn’t this. My friend’s perfume was creamy, sweet, and it did smell of coconut. This one stinks of alcohol, feels absolutely artificial and barely resembles coconut at all. I could barely use the bottle, threw it away, wasn’t even worth trying to offend someone by swaping it or giving it as present.

I would describe the Malaysian Coconut scent overall as a very sweet and decadent coconut with a hint of cinnamon spice. It is exotic and strong without being too overbearing. For the first five minutes or so I really enjoyed sniffing the EDP I had spritzed on my pulse points. But then I started to get an artificial/plastic type note that really dampened my excitement. I think there are some unknown ingredient(s) in certain fragrances that react badly with my body chemistry and create that artificial note. Thereafter all I could smell was heavy artificial coconut. It did not make the fragrance unwearable to me, but it was somewhat disappointing. I have had the same problem with fragrances from Pacifica, especially Island Vanilla. I which I knew why; it tends to happen with fragrances that use more natural ingredients which is odd and a shame.
After an hour it dried down to a dull powdery musk with a light hint of coconut, and within two hours I couldn’t smell it any longer. A bit disappointed with the longevity. Mild to moderate silage.

  7. :

    5 out of 5

What a disappointment. It is not a sweet, creamy coconut, it is not a gourmand coconut, it is not a nutty coconut, and it is not even a natural smelling coconut. It smells so artificial and just offensive. It smells worse than Victoria’s Secret Coconut Passion and smells very much like Bath and Body Works Exotic Coconut, which I dislike. I’m speaking of the white juice bottle, and haven’t tried the clear version. I need to find THE coconut fragrance, and this is not the one. The drydown is better though, but it’s barely there by that time.

The first burst of it is very lovely and fresh and yummi, wish it stayed like that, but it turns artificial & super sugary … not the best. :C

mmmm it’s one of my favourite perfumes: fresh and not too sugary, like the majority of coco perfumes . Plus: it’s cheap!!

  10. :

    5 out of 5

dreamy, sweet and quite long lasting
I bought a friend encouraged by the positive review. Due to the fact that in the heat of summer were terrible I used it because it is much lighter than other scents from my collection.
Plus for the availability of 20 ml, which is very practical. Price is also very attractive. Despite the relatively frequent use I have approx. Half. As far as the smell is pleasant, genuine coconut, nut and without chemical addition, quite durable as EDT.
I’m currently using it after a bath, sometimes I use on clothing or bedding. I do not know whether buy again, because it is not surprising and developing fragrance and additionally Yves Rocher puts a lot of interesting seasonal EDT, so maybe * Try something new.

Wonderfully light and refreshing. Nice all year around for an uplifting, happy scent!

I love this warm coconut scent especially in Autumn. It’s not this kind of holiday-coco-tropical perfume but a very sweet and cozy one.
What a pity that I can smell it for maximum 2 hours 🙁 But I love the small bottle which can be taken everywhere so even if the smell of coconut is off you can respray it.

As many others have said, this is pure straight-up fresh cut coconut… You will find no tropical flowers, or tart fruit here. This is very close to the scent of REAL coconut, freshly cut open. In many ways this doesnt resemble perfume much at all which could be a good thing for the purists. If it resembles anything other than pure coconut, it would be a really high quality home coconut home fragrance, or scented candle.
This is not a sophisticated scent, so be aware of that. Though not sophisticated, its purity of purpose could be considered interesting and unique, for how often do you find pure coconut with nothing else?
It smells extremely similar to the Body Shop Coconut Body Milk. Ive got them both here in front of me, and the similarity is remarkable.
I love it, though it wasnt what I expected. I expected it to smell brighter, but I realize I have been conditioned to expect a tart fruit scent to accompany a base coconut frag, eve though the reviews said otherwise. Its almost like I had “forgotten” what true coconut smells like, which I think happens to a lot of folks.
I will definitely be using this both alone and for layering. I already layered it with Bronze Goddess Capri just to see what that was like, while I await the delivery of the OG Bronze Goddess Ive ordered. It was actually quite nice!
Everyone says this is long-lasting, and it does seem to stay on long and strong!

This a wonderful sweet coconut, really fresh like the milk juice in a ripe coconut. Perfect as a summer refreshing fragrance but I wouldn’t wear this in cold weather. It shines in the heat! It’s not sickly sweet it’s just the perfect balance. Honestly I’ve tried a few coconut scents and this is the perfect one for me. It lasts a few hours, and is well strong enough when first applied without any harsh alcoholic notes. I just love this!

Real coconut! Like a vacation in a bottle. Nice any time of the year.

I’m from the Philippines and I know coconuts ! This smells like freshly opened and grated coconut…yum ! I miss home…I think I’ll wear Coco de Malaisie this winter here in France, might help with homesickness ! Why Malaysian coconut and not Philippine coconuts ???
This is good for layering, it smoothens the harshness of the opening of many of my perfumes and gives them warmth and creaminess. I love layering this with Far Away Exotic and 5th Avenue Nights.

  18. :

Call me nuts, but i wear this in winter! There is something very comforting and soothing about sniffing your scarf on a cold day and getting this dreamy scent… It’s like mixing two ingredients that you would suppose they wouldn’t match well, only to be taken aback by the heavenly result.

This smells to me every bit like Prada Candy, at least like its shower gel form which I own. 20 ml bottle can be gotten from Yves Rocher website for peanuts. All in all delightful! And not to mention it layers great. Like, for instance, Rochas Femme (post-1989) + Coconut YR = big sweet plummy booze – sweaty cumin top note. (I don’t care for cumin).

  20. :

Pure coco. I usually use this to layer with something else (like a floral) that i want to soften and warm up a bit. Love. I use it often.

Given that the original Yves Rocher Noix de Coco fragrance was marketed as unisex and I was hunting for something that would remind me my tropical excursions, I gave this fragrance a shot and blind bought it (easy to do when it is only $12). I thought if I seriously disliked it as a standalone it could be layered or given away.
    I was pleasantly surprised.
I am a bit disappointed in the Fragrantica tools to rate this fragrance, as I think this one is far more complex than a simple and pervasive coconut note. In fact, coconut is only noticeable toward the end and after significant dry-down, at least on my skin. Listed as one of the ingredients on the bottle is coumarin, which I found to be predominant in this fragrance: vanilla and earthy bitter green with a slight tinge of spicy cassia and freshly-cut hay… followed by coconut.
Being a big fan of Jean Paul Gaulthier “Le Male,” the two fragrances are incredibly similar, with a more tropical summery edge being given to Noix de Coco de Malaisie.
I could see where this fragrance’s sweetness may lend itself to a more feminine application, but again for me and on my skin, this works well as a delicate, airy, spicy, and complex scent, not burdened with the typical heavy masculine notes that are the blueprint for so many men’s fragrances, but not so fly-away and cloying to be avoided by men either.

I don’t actually know why I bought this perfume, probably because I had sort of craving for everything that contains coconut. First two weeks I liked this smell, but then I started to be tired of it. For me it’s too much overpowering, too concentrated and it doesn’t have anything common with natural coconut smell. This smell is very very long lasting, and every person in the room where you sit will feel this smell. I gave it to my best friend and she has already finished it.

  23. :

    4 out of 5

It definitely smells like coconut, a sweet milky coconut but even if I spray half the bottle on me it wouldn’t last more than an hour and a half. longevity is very weak.

  24. :

    3 out of 5

Smells so lovely of coconut. Like Pina Colada or suntan lotion. So you must love those to like this perfume, cause it is a bit sweet too.
Edit: If i only use one spritz, that i get that wonderful Pina Colada smell, and if i use 3 spritz, that it smells like real coconut, wich i dont like.

  25. :

I liked the smell of this perfume far more when it was transparent. For some reason now that it’s milky white it has a different coconut smell. It’s still coconutty, just a kind of “baked” coconut, like when you put a tray of shredded coconut in the oven to toast. It’s still nice though.

  26. :

    3 out of 5

The only Yves Rocher perfume that actually lasts for more than an hour! Perfect for those who love coconut. Also, people notice it! I wore perfumes much more expensive and didn’t last as long as this, on clothes for example it will be there even after a whole day!

  27. :

    5 out of 5

The most coconut fragrance I’ve tried!
This fragrance smells truly coconut. Milky coconut. Surprisingly long-lasing with a sillage.
Only I’m not sure that I can handle it. I would prefer something more like Bounty:) Something softer. But I still consider this coconut the most truly. If I don’t find anything more close to my taste, I would buy it as a coconut fragrance.

  28. :

Well it smells like a coconut shower gel, coconut is not even close to the coconut found in VIW by Creed. But it smells pleasant, considering its price its ok. But not impressed 🙂

Its suprisingly natural smelling and longlasting. I love coconut, but usually disappointed with the coconut perfumes, but not with this one! <3

  31. :

This is lovely on bed linen. I spray it when I get up and my pillows smell so lovely when I go to sleep!
I don’t LOVE it on my skin, but it’s nice if I’m really in the mood for coconut. I usually go for more wearable perfumes when that’s the case though, like FCUK’s Friction or Versace Crystal Noir.

  32. :

Very sweet, with a slight hint of sour coconut juice. hint of vanilla too. Quite a strong scent and lastd for hours. Can be a little heady at times, so be careful not to over spray.

  33. :

I bought it to layer upon Pacifica’s Mediterranean Fig, in order to add a milky, creamy note to that green, sharp fig tree. I find it works really good. It smells really natural coconut to me, yummy but still light . I think I’m gonna wear this alone, just for pleasure.
    Eventually I found a replacement to what Pacifica’s Coconut couldn’t do 😀

  34. :

it smells exactly like coconut! very sweet and delicious! but it doesnt last on me more than…..two minutes?

  35. :

    4 out of 5

This is a scent you’re gonna wanna let settle for a half hour or so before appraising it. I seriously don’t love it at first spritz (too sharp and BAM! in-your-nose IMO), but the drydown is so freakin’ worth it! It’s somehow creamy and gourmand and soapy and clean at the same time. Personally, this does not remind me of a natural coconut at all, but hey, real coconut doesn’t actually smell that strongly or that fantastic, if you ask me. I love the sweet, sugary, ice cream type coconut in this. Smells like summer!
And despite what some people here say, I find it lasts for a pretty long while. Sillage isn’t huge after the first 30 minutes, but I can definitely detect it on myself all day long. I spray some on my pillows in the morning and they smell really nice at night 🙂

  36. :

It smells on coconuts in the bottle, but different when you spray it. I’ve seen better coconut interpretations. IMHO

I had this deliciously simle coconut haven in a bottle but it seems that summer beckons: mooore! So I guess I will get one soon. I miss it’s comforting, sunny scent that brougth back so many gorgeous memories of Cuba, where I wore it most. If you tend to dash away from overly ripe or synthetically sweet coconut scents, then I suggest you try this one. It is enveloping like golden sand but simply wafts around you . The exact smell I so enjoyed in Cuba when breathing in the yummy ‘creamy’ scent of a freshly opened coconut from which the milk was still spilling. yum! Glad u like it c&c ♥

@ Bluestardust, it’s not the same, they change the package also the formula! So i would say, go for a test, and than you know or you still like it.
    OT:
I have it, i had the first the old version, who was very good, but i like this one also, so i deal with it, what else can you do?
I’ts a pity that a lot of good perfume’s renewed are, why the hell don’t let it be the way they are! Never change a winning one!

Wanted to add: some comments were that it was appetising, that it smelled like chocolate, or peach. No flower- but if any, it would be … orchid or magnolia as they smell milky.

  40. :

    5 out of 5

As an answer to the previous post: it’s a girly coconut. Yet, it depends on the chemistry of the skin. Some female fragrances are masculin on me although l am female!

i like the dense smell of coconut especially in vacation time when the sun does its work as i spray it going to the beach…
I ordered it my only problem be that its a women scent or can a man pull it of too?
    im curious, tnx

  42. :

    3 out of 5

A simple, sweet coconut, and as it dries down, it becomes even better, like a nice, subtle sunlotion scent. Not the most original or most complicated scent, but very nice for the summer, or when you need that summer-feeling 🙂

  43. :

    3 out of 5

It’s perfect for a vacation, a day at the beach or just to relax thinking about a day at the beach or a long, luxurious vacation. It’s simple, cute scent. Like it!

I really want to get this but is this the same as the other Yves Rocher Noix de coco but just with newer packaging?
    Thank you!

  45. :

Love it, love it, love it!! Just the coconut smell I was looking for! It smells just like Malibu. After a while it stars smelling kind of like coconut scented soap and becomes a little sharp but I don’t care, I’ll be wearing this ALL summer.

  46. :

    3 out of 5

I get soap too! And after reading all the enticing “sweet” and “yummy” comments, I definitely wasn’t expecting that. I was even worrying that it might be too sweet for me. Well, no cause for worry. There’s initially a bit of a sharp biting undercurrent to this that I’m not too fond of. It has nothing to do with rottenness, but more like a sharp floral note. In fact, it smells kind of like lily of the valley blooms soaked in coconut water in the beginning.
Once it dries way down it is less biting, but I wouldn’t call it an “edible” aroma. It does get smooth, a waxy smoothness. It definitely becomes a beautifully clean, smooth, natural coconut scent. If you want a truly sweet vanilla sugar coconut scent try Pacifica Indian Coconut Nectar.
If you’re having a “soapy” issue with this, try spraying it like a body splash and not a perfume. Sillage is good at first – I definitely know I have it on- but it becomes thinner as it wears. Although I did get a comment from across a store counter “someone has something coconutty on” so maybe it’s projecting better than I can detect. Longevity is good. It’ll be lovely for a beach day! It is really growing on me.

  47. :

I am so in love with this fragrance! This is exactly that type of coconut smell I adore! Smooth, creamy, not overpowering, not suffocating..It´s very sweet, like vanilla-sugar-coconut milkshake! Lasting power is just OK though, but I didnt expect it to be a long-lasting monster and I don´t mind respraying myself during the day! Satisfaction!!!

  48. :

I used to enjoy this smell on a friend who wore it everyday. Then I made the mistake to buy it. It smelled like bad soap on me. Awful! Now I stay away from anything that has coconut in it. Plus it’s too exotic for me.

I layer mine with Hilary Duff With Love and love the result.

  50. :

I found this one a little too feminine for me…a great coconutty blast all the same, great smell!…I think it’s the sugariness that packed it in for me…ended up giving a full bottle to my buddy’s wife! The vanilla in this Yves Rocher line however…a keeper for me!

  51. :

    5 out of 5

Hmm… Generally it’s quite lovely. This scent has nice coconut smell. Huh, it even reminds me Ferrero’s Rafaello sweets 🙂
Though sometimes it becomes soapy on my skin if I put it a little more than enough and I do not really like when it smells like that..
However I use it at home, especially in my room as a kind of an air fresher. That’s nice 🙂
Nothing special but a kind of pretty.

  52. :

i love coconut consequently i love this fragrance. it is pure coconut, but not in an artificial way. it smells like coconutbodybutter.plus: it is very inexpensive. just great 🙂

  53. :

    3 out of 5

Yumm! Very sweet sugared vanilla and coconut. If you are looking for a pure coconut scent ( I mean like coconut milk-ish ) you might want to look for something else because this one does start off coconutty but as it dries down it transforms into sweet vanilla with a hint of coconut.
Delicious! I love vanilla and coconut so this one is perfect for me.
Very longlasting and sillage is ok.
My only “problem” is that I have bought a 20 ml bottle instead of going for the 100 ml one.
    My new summer favourite!

  54. :

    3 out of 5

Perfect coconut, puuurfect!! I got it thanks to a friend of mine! I have always wanted a coconut smell inside a perfume, and this is a pure, summery, creamy coconut, it quite reminds me of a sunscreen called Hawaiian tropic, I think .. if you are one of these people that doesn’t like smelling of a coconut sunscreen, don’t buy it. But if you’re like me, I recommend it! Lasting power is more than satisfying, and its best features show during the summer, but is also tasty during the winter. Recommendation!

  55. :

    5 out of 5

been wearing this one a lot this winter; coconutty, borderline vanillaish, quite sweet but not too much, nice lasting power, great for layering, affordable – I like it

  56. :

    4 out of 5

The opening reminds me of monoi oil, but the fragrance turns into a pure coconut scent after a short while. The staying power is amazing, I could still smell it after 12 hours +. It’s not overpowering or sweet, but subtle and authentic. It is monotone indeed, but I think it could be great for layering. Coconut lovers should check this one out for sure!

  57. :

    3 out of 5

Again, high quality ingredients, but too monotone. It’s a shame, I would have loved it if every line was magnificent. This line is a more simplified good version of the Coconut.

  58. :

    5 out of 5

I’m not a big fan of coconut, and this fragrance did not shake my world either) but it wasn’t bad in essence. It’s a simple sweet coconut scent, surprisingly long-lasting and not as synthetic as I had expected, which is a plus. coconut lovers may wanna try this out =))

  59. :

    3 out of 5

Yummy! But a little bit too sweet.
When I wear this, everybody just like: “Hey! Something sweet?”, but what I want is “Hey! Something coconut?”
Yeah, too sweet to recognize the coconut. But I’m a big fan of Coco so I still like this!

  60. :

    4 out of 5

On me it is quite a strong coconut. Not the subtle veil I had anticipated from the other reviews. I try on alot of perfumes through samples each year, but this straight forward, non-complex thing is the first one to make my boyfriend go sniff my neck. After having ignored every scent I have brought to the house, he falls for this one 🙂

  61. :

    4 out of 5

Yum! Like summer suntan lotion (but not overpowering), coconut ice cream, Almond joys, coconut milk, coconut cream pie…everything coconut. A clear sunny hot day in the middle of winter. A must for the coconut fan, and joyously not synthetic! And as mentioned by Malegria, not SO coconut it’s overwhelming, juuuuust right. 🙂

  62. :

    3 out of 5

Not much of a coconut here – may be that clear coconut juice that`s inside? Anyway – if you dislike strong smell of coconut but still want something of this nature, you should try it. It is refreshing and subtle, nothing intensive about it, really.
