JustBeQ, my experience was exactly like yours!!! I had built this one up so much that when I was finally able to sample it – it was nothing like my imaginary fragrance! It has been a while since I received my samples, but that isn’t why I can’t really remember what it smells like, I cannot remember because it wasn’t what I expected it to be.

Before I received my three samples from Spadaro, I really had a preconceived notion that this would probably become my favorite of the three. So, I was slightly disappointed when it wasn’t, I had built up something ‘more’ in my mind. Don’t get me wrong; I don’t dislike it. It actually reminds me of my father’s wood workshop and growing up with the smell of sawdust in the air. The sandalwood and patchouli come across as dry and dusty. When I first spray it I do detect the honey and vanilla but it is fleeting. It then stays liner on me with the dry dustiness of the sandalwood and patchouli. It resides close and quiet on my skin. I will revisit when the weather turns chilly to see if something new develops for me.

So much to say regarding night of fire…1st of all, this isn’t really a nocturnal fragrance nor does it smell like a cold weather scent. Usually dark colored liquid means that it’s intended for cooler months. This can be worn all year round and that’s because it’s dense and light(kind of contradictory, i know). This scent smells totally unfinished and comes across as a boring fragrance. With a house that prides theirselves with luxury, you would expect more bang for your buck. To make matters worse, Noche was the most expensive out of the 3. This is the worst fragrance that i own as well as the worst blind buy that i’ve purchased. Tough talk but it’s straight from the heart.

I’ll be honest. Out of the three, this is the sample that I was least excited to try. I’m just starting to like patchouli, but I usually enjoy it in small doses that are mixed with something sweet. Therefore; after trying this, I can appreciate the beauty and quality of this perfume. It’s not for me, though.
If you like deep, heavy, earthy patchouli, strong woody notes, and incense; you will likely enjoy this perfume. I do detect a vague trace of something sweet (probably in the form of vanilla or honey), but it is definitely not a gourmand. There is also a spicy, incensy note (I’m guessing the saffron), that keeps it from being just pure patchouli. It goes on strong, and lasts a long time. I could also see this as good for layering with a lighter scent.
If you’re a lover of earthy patchouli scents, give this a try! It’s very well-done, but just isn’t for me. I’m looking forward to trying the other two.
