L’Eau Ivre opens with an anise note alongside with a fresh, vegetal, earthy, almost celery-like accord. Combined together, it smells exactly like fennel on my skin, amazing! Bitter green absinth dances around the edge, but by no means does it smell like the alcohol drink as the name might suggest.
As the celery-like greenness becomes muted with time, L’Eau Ivre is mainly an anise fragrance for the rest of its duration. Aromatic, slightly early and animalic but not as deep bittersweet as liquorice, L’Eau Ivre smells oddly comforting to me.
L’Eau Ivre doesn’t project much. It’s rather close to skin during its 8 hours of wear.
So far, among all the IUNX fragrances that I smelt, L’Eau Ivre is my favourite. Not only does it smell incredibly realistic of fennel, it also showcases perfectly the ethereal yet quirky style of Mme. Giacobetti. I’m impressed, and would highly recommend giving it a try for the novelty and its surprising wearability, especially if you happen to enjoy green spicy fragrances.
