Banana Republic has launched a new fragrant pair, embodiment of the modern and easy-going style of the house and thus named appropriately Modern Woman and Modern Man.
Modern Woman has a sensual composition, developed by perfumer Jerome Epinette of Robertet. The fruity-floral fragrance starts its story with refreshing flavors of Italian Bergamot and Nymphaea Waterlily, along with fruity scents of Blushing Golden Apple and White Peach, continuing with a feminine heart beating in rhythm of the key note – Sun Goddess Rose petals, supported with White Butterfly Cyclamen and Arabian Jasmine. The composition closes with Indonesian Patchouli, Crystallized Musk, Powdery White Amber and Madagascar Vanilla.
Banana Republic Modern Woman and Modern Man arrive in classic glass flacons with pattern characteristic of the heritage of Banana Republic. The difference is in bottle shapes – bottle for men is square-shaped while the edition for women is circular. Both fragrances arrived on some markets in late 2014, while they can be expected on all other international markets in early 2015. The edition for women can be purchased as 30 and 50 ml EDP, while men’s version is available as 30, 50 and 100 ml EDT.

Does anyone happen to have the notes for the original Modern perfume from 1997? It smells fresh, green, woody, and somewhat unisex. It came in a square glass bottle (looks very similar to the Modern Man released in 2014).

This is bright and pretty…smelling crisply floral and fruity, but definitely with a prominent and lovely rose. All through the heart I smelled the rose, and longevity was ok- very faded after 4 hrs. Very rosy perky floral that sparkled while it lasted. Discontinued, I guess, but I see it at discount places sometimes.

Opens sharp and crisp and lightly sweet. It’s fresh and nice; and that’s the best part of it. It quickly thereafter settles to a, somewhat boring, fruity amber; the same base scent that’s in many popular fruitchoulis. It rests in that bland sweetness for awhile. About 30 minutes in, I start getting wafts of sour/overripe citrus; and this is the loudest note projected. Citrus is a note that easily goes off on me; and here the bad projection is in full force. Gone, aside from from a very slight citrusy musk on the skin, in about 3.5 hours.

A citrusy green floral that’s actually really pretty. I only discovered it recently and just found out BR is discontinuing it. Of course! But on the plus side, it was on sale 50% off so I got two. I think it’s great for spring/summer.
