    great leather.
My wife and I visited note fragrances in Scranton pa and enjoyed our Saturday afternoon designing our own fragrance. wonderful experience and recommended it for anyone interested in perfumes. I made a deeper leather and named it Smokey Leather and my wife made a sugary floral and named it sweet nala. after the entire experience and nostril fatigue I tried a few of her own line..midnight Leather is a great scent…agree with Dirt Dog. it’s easy to wear, a lighter leather then some of the others I have. it is not Hermes and I did walk out with a bottle of Midnight Leather and cypress white cedar. wonderful experience, excellent perfumer, with a great background. I will be back to buy more or make more perfume.

I usually do long detailed reviews after Ive purchased and worn a fragrance many many many times.
But I feel that Note needs a little bit of love in the reviewing category.
Ive come to love and appreciate this line.
Midnight Leather was built to reproduce the smells the Perfumier experienced in Italy. Now, Ive not been to Italy but I pretty much know what leather smells like on the hoof, in the slaughterhouse, in the tanning rooms, and on a saddle or in a new car.
The leather you think you might know is very different than say … cowhide. Its the tanning oils.
Every nose is different, but I think the previous posters are being a bit unfair towards Midnight Leather. I do think that its a leather fragrance as far as leather fragrances go and not just a clone of Hermes. This fragrance is probably the most mainstream of the fragrances from Note that I own. Its safe, its likeable, its wearable. Id go as far as to say that Note Fragrances is a sensible fragrance house. You could compare them to sensible shoes.
For instance, I have a family member that has sinus problems. And when she is around me, she complains about many of the fragrances that I like. It doesnt matter how good, I think they are … she gripes. But Note fragrances dont bother her. And I like to wear them when she visits.
I own many leather fragrances. And I wouldnt say Midnight Leather is the best of the bunch. But its in the discussion. Some are expensive, and some like Midnight in Paris are getting hard to find. Some that I like such as Mugler Pure Leather are a bit raw with leather on the hoof and would be far less appealing than Midnight Leather by Note
This isnt a saddle or shoe or handbag or new car leather. Its a fragrance leather but it is a leather. If one were wanting to try a fragrance from this house then this one would be the one to try first.
I might go as far to say that Midnight Leather would be in my top 10 leather fragrances that I own and maybe in the top 5. Of the ones, that I could mention this one is by far the most affordable and easy to find and buy. Its priced to be sold and a bargain.
Overall, Id grade this one out at an 80. Its a solid B- which in my grading system is pretty good. Id give it a B+ for scent and unique smell. Its more wearable and enjoyable over being knock your socks off “interesting” and sometimes that can be a good thing. At $37 an ounce it sits where I think Niche value should live. It projects some and lasts well but some of this is because of a great sprayer that pushes out extra juice per spray. Its easy to use up your bottles faster with this house.
Overall its a likable leather from a note where some just are not. Dior Cannage certainly has its fans in the fragrance community but Im pretty sure that in real life 99% of the people in this world would rather smell Midnight Leather on you far more than they would Cannage. And of course the price is a fifth of the cost.
This fragrance is a sensible leather. Its safe and has mass appeal. It has perfect sillage for social encounters. People will smell you and not mind doing so and some if not many will appreciate your scent when they do. It will give you a good 6 hours and hang around for 8 with “average” sillage that starts to fade off at 4 hours.
Im not sure that I want to throw away my Midnight in Paris and wear this one but you cant get that one anymore and this one is very nice.
Id have no problem recommending this as a signature scent or a daily wear scent to someone looking for a leather scent in the category.
It would be appealing to most unlike so many leathers that can get weird. Someone that wants to find a “wearable” scent that can be worn to the office, a date, casual, formal, summer, or winter might want to look here.
Midnight Leather is a classy leather. And I like it. And people looking for a nice safe classy leather fragrance could easily do worse.
    Solid 80

This is a near exact copy of Terre D’Hermes. I have a sample of both Terre D’Hermes and Midnight Leather, they are nearly identical. Midnight Leather is perhaps slightly more unisex, with some more lemon in the top notes, and less of that woody base. It’s longevity is also slightly shorter than it’s designer cousin.
I don’t see the point of making a niche fragrance that is a copy of a less expensive designer scent… It makes no sense!
    7/10
