Tuberose is the Christina Hendricks of flowers, indisputably gorgeous but still too zaftig to ever quite satisfy the arbiters of chic. So what’s an uber refined house like Memo Paris to do? The answer involves slimming the tuberose note down and surrounding it with aromachemicals that suck the moisture out of the composition, giving it a sense of almost incense-y austerity. Truth or Dare tried a similar approach to tuberose without ever approaching the dry severity of this composition.
So, does it work? I’m not sure. I love dry fragrances and yet I’m never quite convinced by this one. Sometimes it seems like tender, sweet tuberose has been trapped in a prison and starved by aromachemical monsters. The dry quality sticks out a bit too much and when first sprayed whatever aromachemical it’s composed of felt unpleasant in my nose.
Still, it’s a polished, unique fragrance and for those unbothered by aromachemicals it might be convincing.

VERY LOUD tuberose – full-diva projection level – quietening down to classy white flowers after a while; a bit too shoutily feminine for all-around comfort, but beautifully finished, with all the other grace notes making things plumper and rounder and dewier in all the right places. Bizarrely, for me, the opening takes me straight to childhood holidays and the smell of Piz Buin sun lotion – something in the floral mix seems to veer nearly into coconut-and-lanolin territory, though in a very organic and oddly beautiful way. Far, far, far sweeter than I usually like, but its quality does shine through. Especially at the end where the vanilla rounds things out even more, in a dark and adult, un-sickly costume.
However, for the alarming prices Memo charge, I’m not sure this is far enough ahead of the rest of its floral/tuberose competitors to quite earn its keep. Very glad I tried it, happy to wear out the sampler (especially on spring-summer days when something joyful and lushly girly is called for), but this one won’t trigger a full-bottle hunt for me.

This perfume reminds me of candied fruit – not the kind you would get on a plate in a castle in medieval Florence, but the cheap kind you get at a carnival.
I echo the sentiments of others who like how it smells in the bottle but don’t like the way it sits on the skin. Or rather the way it doesn’t sit on the skin. Unfortunately this perfume disappears all too quickly.
Having said that, even in the bottle, it was pleasant and sort of interesting but ultimately too sweet (that candied fruit thing!) and generic.

Such a hit, yet such a miss. Quite possibly one of the best fragrances I have ever inhaled. It has the soft feminine touch of tuberose when you first inhale, and then something sharp, a bit naughty hits you after a few seconds- it must be the agave. Like the girl next door who has another side to her. I adore the faceted contrast. I can’t stop smelling this, although I do; the downside to this perfume is that it seems to evaporate the moment I put it on. If I had paid the $300 for this, I’d be devastated (it was a gift). I’m still devastated regardless, as it is truly a masterpiece. Memo, SOS! Extend the life of Marfa!

Oh, Memo. I hate myself for loving you. The top reasons being the outrageous pricing, and the crowd pleasing aspects of the fragrances. Memos are like the best looking kid in a school, an obvious choice. They’re not exactly counter-culture, and they’re definitely challenging. Just high quality well constructed fragrance. Reviewing this fragrance makes me feel like I’m reviewing the Beatles like “wow, great band!”
Marfa is the second Memo big hit fragrance I’ve brought home for sampling. I loved it as soon as I smelled it. I think my eyes may have rolled back in my head with pleasure. And of COURSE I would love it. It smells like ethereal tuberose blossoms floating in a bowl of chilled milk that just floated up your nose on a vanilla marshmallow cloud. There’s a little clean white musk urging me into a sublime detergent commercial visual- bright sunshine illuminating cool white clothes flapping in the wind on old fashioned clothes lines.
If there is a personal style to go with this blend, it’s “casually pulled together”. It reminds me of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, but Marfa is universal enough to make anyone smell like they have effortless style.
I ran my sample by the boyfriend, but I knew he would instantly appreciate it. I hate that I’ll be buying a bottle of this, but also I love it because it smells so. damn. good.

I admit, I really didn’t want to like this scent as much as I do. My first impression after putting it on, I wasn’t impressed. But about an hour in, a warm, creamy floral took over and is still hanging on to my wrist over 24 hours later. It doesn’t necessarily remind me of Marfa, a city that I love, but it does smell amazing and lasts a long time.

strange but on my skin smells just like Secretions Magnifique, metallic, floral, chalky. I’ll pass.

Opening is disappointing for such an expensive perfume – cheap designer candy floss floral. Drydown is much better, a mellow tuberose. Further down i get cumin and sweat :/

YSL Supreme Bouquet clone?? Yes and it feels disappointing that an original maker of perfumes fall into this pit…

Apparently, however meaningless and verbiagic the fragrances descriptions of Memo are it is possible to find decent creations when the whole concept related to the perfume is ignored. This is sad because a product where all the elements are in tune is much stronger and distinct than one that does not care about this aspect. The brand seems to be more successful in floral perfumes, being able to work its nuances in a way that perfume conquers the opening, evolution and aura that it creates.
Marfa is another concept worked in a strange way, inspired by a small Texas town located in a desert. The brand summarizes it as “the eye of tuberose”, which in parts makes sense and at the same time is very strange and does not cease to invoke a weird symbolism for the composition. Generally speaking, there is not much to do with what you would expect from a desert-inspired perfume except for the agave chord, which is not primary in composition. What Marfa is actually is a good tuberose, worked around the vanilla and the orange blossom.
The scent on the skin makes me think of the Frederic Malle Carnal Flower as both bring a fresher and more realistic aura to Tuberose, working the greener nuances and a more balanced narcotic aroma. Marfa makes a fluid transition between the green aroma and the minty green secondary tuberose nuances to its more sweet and white floral body, the part of the flower that has similarities with the orange blossom. The agava accord ends mixing at the opening to the greener aroma while the ylang enters to compose the impression of tuberose along with the orange. In a later stage, Marfa makes a fusion of the sensual and complex aroma of the white flowers with a creamy and sweet base of vanilla and musks, conferring a secondary gourmand aura to the composition. It is a perfume that presents a certain exuberance and richness that does not match much with a desert vision, but which is beautiful in itself and could be used within a concept that made more sense. It is certainly one of the most interesting members from the point of view of the aroma in the collection, because in concept in general Memo is terrible.

If you were to distill the scent, I would describe it as high-end orange creamsicle. Otherwise, this perfume is like fresh fruit on a hot sandy day. Sweet but it doesn’t drip off of you and at no point is it sugary or over-ripe. There is a full-bodied quality to Marfa, which delights and entices. If you are looking for a “real orange” scent, you will be disappointed. This perfume is more impressionistic. It is a likeness of fruit that hones in on its best qualities, rather than a realistic representation of the thing itself. It depicts “orange” in a landscape to draw out its full potential. Finally, a fruit smell that I can love and adore…

Marfa is a beautifully modulated white floral with an agave nectar to add sweetness and freshness to the tuberose and orange blossom. It never veers too sharp, a bit dry leading it to unisex potential. Very long lasting, quality experience, and unique in its style. It will be noticed in a good way…

I tested three of memo paris fragrances today and I disliked all of them when first sprayed but after an hour or two, they changed beautifully and I changed my mind about them too
When I first sprayed marfa my man hated it,and he usually loves white florals!I could feel tuberose in it but in a very sharp,in your face way.there’s something in it’s opening part which ruins it for me,something herbal, dusty, bitter and sharp,I’m sure it’s agave and I don’t like it at all.
After an hour I was surprised to smell a gorgeous scent wafting my hand.tuberose is there but it behaves.strongest note on my skin is orange flower which I love.and yes, buttery ylang ylang is also noticeable.a creamy vanilla rounds flower scents.musk and woody notes give it a more creamy base while staying soft and in shadow.fortunately I can’t detect any agave or other herbal things anymore but flowers are still very natural smelling and have some sort of freshness while being sunny and softly sweet
Marfa is feminine and beautiful,it’s elegant and calming.I really like this blend of orange flower, vanilla, mandarin and other flowers.a lovely spring, summer scent.it’s expensive but it also smells expensive and high quality.I really hate it’s first hour but it’s not a deal breaker because when it evolves to this beautiful floral symphony,it still has very good sillage and lasts very long(I tested it about 10 hours ago and it’s still there strongly)
If I had a lot of money I would definitely buy it but now,I’m not sure!(it’s 265 $ here).
I like this brands heavy bottles but not marfa.I’m afraid of the eyes on it

I saw Lanier Smith talk about a sample of Marfa and I knew I had to try it. This fragrance to my nose is a blast of strong leather notes at first with a bite of jasmine, and dare I say, dirt.
I just honeymooned in the desert this summer, and I can definitely get the notes of an almost juniper quality which adds to the warm desolation of this fragrance, along with a dewey freshness tinged with citrus.
After about 20 minutes, the tuberose and sandalwood/vanilla take center stage and envelope the wearer in a kind of warm shawl worn to keep a cool desert evening breeze at bay.
This scent is obviously evocative for me, and as a lover of the desert, it hit a home run with familiar scents I love to remember.
Bravo Marfa…you will be my next full bottle purchase!

Delectable fruity floral with a strong musky vanilla base. Inspired by a West Texas desert area known for UFO activity! As a ‘twilight in the desert’ perfume it works! It has agave in the base, sandalwood as a foundation, and bright white florals leading the pack. The variety of juxtaposed notes make for a sparkling satiny aura. Feminine, richly nuanced, addictive! So gorgeous, my mother wanted the bottle for herself after smelling it on me. I’ll have to raid her dressing table and commit a UFO abduction on the bottle from time to time!

I am not a sweet tooth when it comes to fragrances.
But this is one of the very few sweet fragrances that I ended up owning a bottle and am happy with it.

This fragrance smells so good that I want to cry. No joke. I can’t even explain it. I have never smelled something so beautiful as this! After you spray it it does come of a bit harsh, but give it 15-30 minutes and the fragrance melts into the skin and gives of a soft, sweet, blossoming scent. This is a very soft and sweet floral scent, nothing like any another fragrance (I own or have ever smelled). It’s expensive but it’s so worth it!
    *Update*
I’ve been using this fragrance for some days now and I have gotten to known it a bit better. When I read the reviews, witch says that this is a strong and long lasting fragrance I just couldn’t get it. To me this fragrance is so soft that I inhale my skin. Yesterday I sprayed just a bit on a test strip and left it in the living room. I now realize that this fragrance most likely knocks out my olfactory sense when I wear it (combined with the fact that my skin sucks up fragrance like nothing else). This fragrance projects and it most likely have very good longevity, my olfactory sense just adapts to this scent very quickly. The point to this story is that when I enter my living room several hours after I sprayed the test strip this lovely scent hits my face. It’s so sad that I can’t smell it on my self, but sure hope others enjoy the fragrance on me.

I’m happy to write my first review on Fragrantica about this perfume. I just received a sample today and I am in love.
My first impression was that it’s just the usual white floral sharp scent, but in minutes everything changed. It smoothly started to wear a luxurious silky white gown and notes danced a happy spring dance! I felt myself becoming an angel with white wings, sweet but not naive, pure but know precisely what I want.
It reminded me only slightly with ASQ Musk line’ “Arz Lubnan”.
Performance is strong so I’d say 2 sprays are enough. Silliage is moderate, it wouldn’t turn heads towards you but I do think it’s one of those scents that change something inside you.
    I Love it!

This perfume is a masterpiece! I was enchanted by this white trail, ethereal, floral almost of another world …. This wonderful fragrance is like a wind blowing gentle on the skin, such as spring … sublime tuberose, orange blossom in the background .. everything is perfect … i love this perfume, among my favorite Memo. Extraordinary.

The entire time that I’ve been into perfumery I’ve been searching for the ultimate masculine white floral fragrance (or even unisex), and Marfa is probably the best one I’ve encountered so far.
The tuberose here is very prominent, but it’s unlike any other tuberose I’ve ever smelled. It is fresh and dewy but it specifically doesn’t beat you over the head with white floralness. Also worth noting is a creamy vanilla-marshmallow accord which pairs perfectly with the heady florals and white musk. The woodsy-agave notes add a relaxed, casual quality to the fragrance, and it is a perfect olfactive reference to the desert landscape of Marfa, Texas. There is a barbershoppy, almost fougere quality to this fragrance that links it to men’s perfumery in a way that would make Marfa very accessible for men to wear and enjoy.
Some of my favorite fragrances of all time are the ones that successfully bridge the gaps between different “genres” of fragrances, and Marfa pulls this off amazingly. I could go on and on describing this fragrance: it is artistic, charming, stylish, offbeat, and vibrant. The sillage and longevity are like a big Texas personality. I love this fragrance so much that I may even start saving up to buy a bottle of my own.

This is a white musk and tuberose bomb that sounds simple but still somehow manages to maintain olfactory interest. Marfa opens with a green tuberose hovering above its spicy, nutty, woody, white musk which also has a milky cereal feel. Rather than simply smelling like its parts, somehow the blend evokes a feeling of heat, humidity, and green things growing in a specific place which I guess must be Marfa, Texas. It’s definitely not Los Angeles, California.
For me it’s in the same family of fragrances as Isabey’s Lys Noir and Fleur Narcotique, which pair white floral notes with gourmand musk notes. Where those have patchouli, Marfa has a spicy, nutty (sandalwood?) cereal like wood blended into the base.
Marfa always smells interesting and a little bit different, like it’s shimmering in the heat. This is a sillage monster that holds its power for the better part of two hours, the starts to get softer as the cereal and spice soften and the vanilla becomes more prominent in the drydown.
I agree with Q80, excluding the leathers this one is different, more atmospheric than a lot of their other ‘memory of a place’ offerings. High quality blend, lasts all day. Very nice offering from this house.

Milky Vanilla tuberose, it’s like a soft leather with some sandalwood, and a mild musk but not citrus.
It has great amount of quality and it differs from their whole collection, something that i would definitely go for.
