This smells great. I loved it but unfortunately got stolen out of my room on vacation by the cleaning crew lol. Oh well. It was great while it lasted.

I bought this for an ex-girlfriend, who loved it when we were searching a new cologne for me. I bought it more for her to smell on me, rather than for me. Though it’s quite a nice cologne I found the projection poor, and also it is a very subtle scent. It’s kind of the thing you would wear in close encounters, as it’s more of a skin scent. So it seems I bought it for the right reasons ha. I don’t think I would purchase it again due to the relatively poor performance and projection. Liked the ginger and citrus though. It’s very safe for the office. Mild, inoffensive, fresh.

Nice scent! but projection is very poor.
    Performs more like a aftershave/cologne.
Come on Yves Saint Laurent!! this is unsatisfactory.

YSL’s L’Homme is the epitomy of the modern fresh masculine aromatic. It’s clean, crisp and unlikely to offend.
It opens with a sweet ginger-citrus accord. Very sweet and juicy. Quite synthetic.
Then it transitions over to a hint of non-descript spice before settling on a base of sweet woods and cardamom.
What you are left with is a nice, sweet citrus-ginger-woods combo. Nothing too exciting, but perfectly decent and smells fantastic.
And that goes back to my point. L’Homme smells like a very decent, refined fresh fragrance. It won’t shake the world, but it will make you smell clean and elegant.
Longevity is decent – 6-7 hours.

When I first bought this one (1,5 year ago) didn’t fall in love at first, for me it was kinda too simple. As time went by, I decided to give it other chances, and then things changed drastically.
I mean, now I love it and it’s my signature for college and I can ensure you that it’s a compliment getter (Girls LOVE IT), I was dating a girl who every time we were going out asked me to wear this one, and got closer to my neck from 10 on 10 minutes just to smell it.
    That’s the “Mr.Nice Guy” definition.
Just love it, and thanks god on my skin it lasts and have a very good performance (it’s a closer scent).

I don’t know what to say… It’s a sunbeam of happiness in a bottle. You know, the guys from ads or commercials: white smiles, color jumpers over shirts, two children etc. All those guys wear L’Homme. This is a good guy scent.
If you’re want to be happy, just spray and go. No matter season or occasion.

I love L’Homme. I applied enough from my sample bottle around 1:15 PM. Time now is 4:24 PM and it’s a skin scent; very little projection. Why doesn’t it last? Ugh. But I love the opening, heart, and dry down. The sillage is great. I’m giving this a 7/10 because the longevity is SO BAD, just like L’Homme Sport! UGH!!!!
UPDATE from 9/15/18: I saw it in a duty-free shop in Punta Cana and sprayed it on (2 sprays). My flight was 3.5 hours and I could no longer smell it even before landing. =( They wanted $87 for the 3.3 fl oz. bottle. HA! Not for this poor longevity!

This juice really breaks my heart this a perfect example of a love and hate relationship you can’t live without it and when you have her she doesn’t perform or miss behaves. If this juice had just double the longevity and projection it will rank in my opinion in the top ten cologne’s of the 2000s the scent alone is alltime great material when i wear this juice i feel like the most handsome man on the planet and my wife just can’t stay away, it is that good my friends but why why why can’t you last so my only solution is to apply 10 yes 10 spray’s and i get seven hours with about 3 1/2 of projection.

    Scent 10/10
    Longevity & Projection 5/10
I don’t mind the projection being 5/10 but it would’ve been AWESOME if it had slightly better longevity…

While cardamom is not among the listed notes, I pick up a strong presence here. Also, my bottle is very lacking in the ginger department. It’s leaning more towards a warm scent rather than something you can use in the summer.
I find La Nuit is a better-rounded development from L’Homme, but I still prefer L’Homme for its versatility. Love both for their classy subtlety.

  13. :

    4 out of 5

This is a very warm, clean, and pleasant fragrance. It is distinctively unisex to my nose, almost polite, and will appeal to most people. In a way, it is a safe choice for most. It would easily be branded as ‘quiet confidence’.
For me, the ginger note is less pronounced compared to the spices. It opens with a silky sweetness that is mellow – not like the sharpness of 1 Million for example. This is probably from the tonka bean, which holds the perfume together. The drydown transitions to a warmth as the ginger comes to play.
This perfume doesn’t scream its presence. In fact, from the outset, it sticks relatively close to the skin. It is versatile – good for office wear, or a cozy dinner date. It is clean and creamy.
I can imagine this being a good introduction to more mature fragrances for younger folks who have just started working/entering adult life. Haha.
    Cheers!

It is almost unisex smelling it is so pleasant, but it has just enough masculinity to be obviously a men’s fragrance.
It is a softer scent, playful and just makes you happy when you smell it.
It has the same effect when women smell it on you, and it is the ultimate fragrance choice for having a girl over to your place in the day time, or sleeping over and cooking breakfast in the morning and lounging around the house, or going to meet your girlfriend’s family.
Basically, any situation where you need something safe that just smells great, this is a very solid choice.
It doesn’t smell favoured to any particular season or weather conditions either which makes it perfect for any time of the year.
It is my go to “close encounters” day time indoor fragrance at all times of the year

I sprayed it today on my hand and it surprised me! At first it’s opening is so good, but after few minutes it became even more beautiful scent. I started stopwatch and it surprised me, yet again! It lasted almost 8 hours on my skin, which is pretty awesome, cos so many people get maximum of 6 to 7 hours. But after 4 hours, if I still remember correctly, it started to sit closer on my skin. Still very VERRY good fragrance!)

This fragrance is my go to office frag. This will not offend anyone. The compliments I have received on this fragrance are “you smell really nice”. Nothing like WOW WHAT IS THAT SEXY SMELL?? More so just you smell nice. And thats fine with me, that is what I want out of an office frag. Smells elegant and crisp, projection is below average.
Overall, rate this a 8/10. I love wearing this to the office.

  17. :

    5 out of 5

I think the scentinar is spot on. This is a “nice” fragrance, for “nice” men. A nice appley gingery fresher version of boss bottled. Theres nothing wrong with smelling nice as you arent going to offend anybody, but you also arent going to wow people either. I have a 2016 batch and the performance is abysmal. Longevity and projection are very poor, which is a shame. I dont mind too much about projection, as i feel this is a scent ideally suited for the workplace, but the longevity is where this hurts. I feel that it has a place in my collection, but will be reaching for other work scents way more than this.

  18. :

    5 out of 5

This is my biggest disappointment ever. One of the best scents for men ever created and such a miserable performance. Tragic.
The same applies to the entire L’Homme line – there’s a big room for improvement in terms of projection. Once that will be fixed – I’ll be the first one to collect the entire line of L’Homme perfumes. Until then I don’t even consider it as an option.

  19. :

It’s a fresh woody heart that can smell too sweet during warm weathers, very easygoing, it’s like the friend whose presence you appreciate when he’s there but who is also never in the central stage of any event.

  20. :

    3 out of 5

For me this is just too casual and easy going.
It is for the guy who wears glasses and wears tan sweaters and likes his coffee half coffee and half milk.
It is a nice aromatic citrus with smoothness and the feel of some very little resin. 3 to 5 hours longevity and fair to weak projection, but stays on clothes well.
I am glad la nuit de lomme came around personally.
I guess some people like good ole vanilla ice cream.
For me there are lovely aromatics out there like lalique pour homme or trussardi My land that have character, last/project more and smell better.
overall,A good causal or lazy day fragrance, just not for me personally.

  21. :

    4 out of 5

It’s a polite, mildly sweet & spicy fragrance that settles down into mildly woody scent from the vetiver and ceder. The only thing I have to complain about is the projection and longevity, but maybe the scent was meant to be mildly projecting and meant for close encounters?
When I sprayed it the first time I did not smell anything. I had to spray it two/three times to get the sweet & spicy gingery goodness. I will be using it for as my main office scent as it’s just perfect for that. I mean, at work that’s what you want..something that will be noticeable but not by much, something that’s polite and something that smells good and sweet.
It’s a perfect cologne to blind buy so if you get it for cheap don’t hesitate to pull the trigger. I’d suggest buying the 200ml big bottle because you’ll be over-
spraying it and going through it quick.
    Scent/smell: 7/10
    Projection: 4/10

My last bottle and i stop to topup in my collection. For me it classy but not relevant anymore nowadays. Smell good but still the longevity and projection not nicely well perform. But glad to get to know him once in my collection.

Not a love, but a strong like. Great for someone who wants to dip their toes in Middle Eastern-ish scents without diving in head first. Very acceptable alternative to its sleazier cousin, La Nuit de l’Homme.

First thing first, to get it out of the way, and clear any “confusion” that many men seem to concern themselves so much when it comes to choosing their fragrances for a date: gentlemen, I’m afraid that you will not get laid by wearing just this fragrance, or ANY fragrance, if that was the first thing that you “wonder”! And please, please, please DON’T “count on” JUST a fragrance to make “magic” happen for you, if you “expect” to get “something” from your date, especially from the one whom you actually LIKE AND CARE to know more about! In order to take “further action” with you, women mainly pay attention to your “behaviors”/”intellectual level”/”interactions” with them, more than just your “perfume”. That is how men should impress women from the first place, and then, only then, you can think of “scoring” later, even much later. At least, it is what I’d like to think. Although, I do admit that, at some levels, a “nice scent” should give you more “hope” (but again, please don’t bet all your confidence in just a fragrance).
Now back to this YSL L’Homme. It is a nice environment-friendly EDT for men. There is nothing jumping out of it that can offend anyone’s nose, even the sensitive one. I think it is safe for office wear and pleasant at the same time for outing. I like the ginger note here a lot. It is not sharp, nor spicy, nor “bitter”, as I usually find in strong ginger that I use with lemon to infuse the taste of my drinking water everyday. It gives just a fresh kick to the combination and works so well with basil, violet leaf and of course lemon. Bergamot, vetiver and other spices (tonka bean, pepper…) did a good job on defining the sex of this fragrance. They are soft, nicely “tamed” and not loud in the face, unlike in many men’s colognes/EDTs out there. And the dry down with cedar note brought it home for me (I like oud, cedar…in men’s fragrance a lot).
Don’t know why, but this fragrance somehow links me to “Special Agent Anthony Dinozzo” from NCIS. It is a fun, good looking, mischievous, energetic, stylish, flamboyant and very smart character.
For an EDT, L’Homme’s sillage and longevity are not that bad, a good 4 hours, and definitely can be applied twice a day during summer, and more during cooler time of the year, if you wish. Me personally, when it comes to a smell of scent that I like, I usually don’t care much if I have to reapply. Because I enjoy re-living the pleasant moment of it all over again.

pangit ng scent na to.binili ko to kasi na hype ako sa mga reviewers sayang lang pera not worth it, better get the la nuit de lhomme but make sure to get the 2009-2016 batch not the 2017-2018 batch…dont blindbuy this frag..the scent is light good for indoor close encounter only and the longevity for this one is last only 3 hours.formulation sucks my rating for this is 5/10. by the way im inspired by jeremy fragrance from Ph ako..

  30. :

This reminds me of an Apple orchard in the summer, has florals and the spicy woods from the trees make it just feel refreshing.
Use this for the office day, La nuit for the intidmate date-night! As mentioned before the new reformulations have weaker performance. Becomes a skin scent in a few hours, very pleasant nonetheless!

  31. :

Been wearing it today in 26 Celsius weather. It’s ok, too bad longevity is poor.
Probably won’t rebuy it once I run out of it.

  32. :

    5 out of 5

Don’t read this if you like this perfume.
It smells somewhat unnatural to me. It’s a nice smell, but not for human, maybe for a glass cleaning product.

  33. :

    3 out of 5

Creamy sweet and fresh. One of the most versatile fragrances on market. But I prefer to use it indoors and close encounter situations cause it’s weak in terms of projection.
Works great as a signature scent.
About scent this and la nuit share the same DNA but I actually like the opening of l’homme more than la nuit de l’homme but the dry down of la nuit is so heavenly and nothing can come close to la nuit’s dry down.
Overall it’s a really great fragrance to have in your collection but if you expecting good performance, this is not for you.
I wish YSL reformulate L’homme and la nuit de l’homme to stronger fragrances instead of releasing stupid flankers over and over again like eau electrique, l’intense, Sport, ultime and …
    Scent:10/10
    Longevity:5/10
    Sillage:5/10

I guess I’m in an elite company where a 2017 version of L’homme lasts 8+ hrs on me with good projection for about 3+.
This is a 10/10 for the first 5-6 hrs. Once the citruses evaporate however, it goes 180° real quick. It just feels incomplete. My nose probably got better over time because at first my complaint was I smell it for a few hours and next thing you know it’s completely gone. Now instead of it being gone, I detect this weird, bitter note(s?) which makes me want to hop in the shower ASAP to get rid of what remains of this fragrance.
I’d still give it 8.5/10. I hate the last couple of hours so much, otherwise it’s perfect.

  35. :

    5 out of 5

Starts with: Zesty ginger, with a very slight sweetness. “Effervescent, sparkling” are the words that come to my mind when the initial blast hits.
Settles down to: A pleasant woody-sweetness wafting in the air, not overly creamy nor heavy. A restrained sweet tonka and musk keeping the whole composition classy; unlike the louder, juvenile tonka you smell in other department store scents. Too bad sometimes when sniffed closely it smells like wet cardboard on me.
L’homme for me is the scent of friendliness, tameness, elegance, sensitivity, familiarity – the one I reach for the most in my small collection because it reflects the version of “me” that I want to project (and it works in our tropical climate). Can’t really enjoy the uber-masculines or sporty-shower gel ones because I feel like I’m trying too hard when I wear them. Pleasant? Definitely; it would be hard to find a layperson who’d actively hate this. Versatile? Yes, it works in 90% of situations. Sexy? That’s up for debate, sometimes a “you smell nice” is all it can elicit. The longevity and projection leaves something to be desired, a decant is a must if you want to be smelled within 2 feet beyond 2 hours. I’ve sniffed some scents but none came as close to this on connecting with me on a personal level. Still waiting for YSL to get their act together and release a true eau de parfum version of this the same way D&G did to The One.

I needed to revisit this scent, and im so glad i did!
Smell: 10/10 Ginger and apple, the most pleasing fragrance ever. Full stop.
    Gorgeous, simply gorgeous!
Performance: 6/10 Pretty weak but enough for warm indoors! Good for chilling in class and stuff like that. 4 hours longevity 1 hour weak projection, if someone sits next to you they will smell it though, very laidback.
Versatility: 10/10 The most versatile fragrance i’ve ever smelled. Simply put this is for every season, and every occasion. Formal or casual, Clubbing or chilling. (although people wouldn’t smell you in the club, this smells high end, which is good for fancy clubbing)
Compliments; 10/10 People absolutely loved it on me, they said that its very pleasing although its not sexy, great for job interview though.
Overall: 9.9/10 I love this so much but for that 10 it needed some performance.

To C-Sauce: You’re absolutely right! I have three bottles and the same problem with each of them. When the bottle is fresh opened, the smell is amazing from start to finish, but after a few months, the opening turns into disgusting bitter smell! Yeah, after a hour is the same old creamy fragrance, but i can’t stand the repulsive opening. For such a designer, perfumers and price tag it’s a shame that they are unable to fix better this fragrance!

  39. :

    4 out of 5

Does anyone find that this smells bad up close, or right after spraying it? To me it smells like bitter chemicals for the first half hour before it gradually releases pleasant wafts. I don’t remember it smelling like this a year ago when I first bought it. Maybe it starts to turn.

  40. :

    5 out of 5

Unobtrusive, exceedingly pleasant daytime fragrance. Lacks the gravitas and richness of the AdP Colonia group, Chanel Pour Monsieur and Eau Sauvage EDT (original) but nevertheless is an easy grab in the morning when you have too much on your mind and don’t want to think about which fragrance to wear.

This fragrance is a Mr. Nice Guy (in the positive way only!) Mild, intelligent scent, inoffensive and versatile. You simply can’t go wrong with that, no matter if you’re a teenage guy or 30 years old successfull businessman or 65 years old senior. I love that one. Probably, if it would be a little bit more spicy, I would rate YSL L’homme with 9 or even 9,5, but my final verdict is 7/10.

  43. :

Beautiful fresh clean fragrance that’s not going to offend anyone. Nice blend of ginger, peppery spice and citrus. The Vetiver and Cedar is kept light in the background. Good fragrance for the warmer months.

I got this one back in 2009 as a present – I was not very sure if I really loved it, I was getting a lot of compliments so I kept wearing it, till the bottle run out of juice. Our paths crossed again some days ago, after purchasing “Vinyle” from the Le Vestiaire des Parfums collection, the sales assistant gave me a lot of samples from this. It is better than I remembered, what I really haven’t got back in 2009 was that creamy base behind those ginger – lemon top notes. Ideal for spring and summer, really casual, quite safe without being boring and really classy. Good job YSL!
*This review was written after several full wearings of the perfume and not just after smelling this on paper or on wrist.

I love the smell of this juice but I had to boot it out of my collection. The smell of this fragrance is too feminine for my taste. My mom would’ve loved this for herself if she was still living. The performance and projection on my skin is wanting as well. I ended up giving it to my girlfriend and ironically this juice is a BEAST on her skin! It projects 6 to 8 feet and lasts 12 hours plus on her. Go figure…

Erox Inner Realm is a great alternative (clone) to YSL L’Homme. It has a nice gingery pepper dry down with some sweetness. For $18 shipped, it is a no brainer. Performance is about the same as L’Homme, but some days it can perform pretty well.

Super light and Projects maximum one hour so it is just for personal pleasure as it is hardly detectable by others (maybe it is meant to be this quiet).

Tonka delight.I get tons of Tonka. The progression is fantastic.Initially you get citruses, ginger and tonka, reminding you of apple pie like smell.Mid notes has basil, violet leaf and tonka, reminding you of mint and tonka and the base has tonka and musk which reminds of a powdery musk.In short Tonka is the main character here. Most pleasant and versatile scent.Period.
It is loved and complimented by all.Not a single person will hate it.Longevity and sillage is fantastic.
10/10 for sure. What else do you want in a perfume bottle. My 2nd review of this scent because i never get tired of this scent.Lots of love.

If you want this with better performance and longevity buy the Walgreens impostor version. A little bit more synthetic is the beginning but dries down to the same exact fragrance. If nothing else try the sample at Walgreens or Duane Reade.

My favorite smell of all time, the silage and longevity aren’t there. This scent works for almost any time or occasion, great for close encounters, and safe for work environment. I would wear this all day every day if it lasted a little longer and projected better. I wear this all the time just to smell myself

Absolut fantastic, lovely, safe, and very very versatile scent. Unfortunately the sillage is very poor, and the longevity is just moderate. Opens with a blast of ginger/bergamot… the ginger is one of my favorite spice/note, so the first few minutes is wonderful for me. 10 minutes later the whole copmostion become a little bit sweet, I got a lot of tonka with a bit of spices and pepper. Before the test I was waiting a bit more spicy notes, but fortunately it didn’t happen (I hate strong spicy notes)… The drydown is a very pleasent too, a bit soapy sweet-woody combination. Despite of the poor sillage, I like it!
    – absolutely 4 season, day/night scent, very versatile
    – sillage is poor, longevity is average, 5-6 hours
    – safe blind buy

I have a 2013 batch bottle and I have to say it has a very pleasant scent. I purchased this without sampling. I was really skeptical because I didn’t like its flanker La Nuit de L’homme. But, I purchased for the heck of it. When I sprayed it first, I said “wow.” Currently, I have about a little over 30 designer fragrances with some niche and this is one of the best. I know it is not masculine but it smells heavenly. However, my only complaint is the longevity. Besides that, it is 10 / 10. I can’t wait for spring to come when it truly shines.

Initially thought that the longevity of this fragrance is in the moderate range, but seriously I have had better and better longevity from it as the weather get colder. I agree it’s not a project monster, but I really like it because I can get whiffs of it here and there throughout the day. And yes, I meant throughout the day, not 2-3 hours.
Spray 1 spritz on my arm and the base is still here as I’m writing this (11 hours after spraying). Have to bring my nose close to the spraying spot to smell it tho, but it’s still easily detectable
The scent? Versatile, non-offensive, masculine, dry down to cedar/tonka bean with a bit of sweetness.
    9/10

Four or five sprays on fabric will envelope you in an aura of soft ginger and vanilla powder that lasts for hours. In spite of claims to the contrary, the sillage is impeccable, because although it doesn’t “project” a great distance, it does leave behind a blessed trail of sweetness and light as you move from one place to another. People will notice it one moment at a time, first in the hallway, then later across a counter or dinner table, and then again as you return into the room.
This generates compliments like none other—not in the form of “wow what are you wearing?” but “there it is again, who’s wearing that?”
In spite of its name, L’Homme is as feminine as a men’s fragrance can possibly get. For that reason, it is appropriate for confident, masculine men who are not afraid to encounter their Jungian anima. If you’re not this sort of man, wear it anyway, because women love how it softens rough exteriors.

Sillage: 7/10 (leaves a lingering token here and there)

This is a nice fragrance, but it’s only good for up close and personal encounters.
It really doesn’t leave your personal space…Unless you just sprayed it and a big gust of wind hits.
    This isn’t a strong fragrance.
But it doesn’t need to be, it’s a perfect date scent/hookup scent.
Just bring a decant aka a travel atomizer and you’re good to go…
Respray every two to three hours and you are golden.
Also…after your date, use the decant on their pillow and you’ll get a phone later “Saying my bed smells like you and i miss you”.
But outside of the dating scene, i don’t see the use of this…unless you’re carry around this bottle or decant.
To me IMO, this isn’t worth the money.
I used six sprays…both wrist, back & front of my neck, chest and front of my shirt.
    Will I buy this again?…No.
Am i willing to trade this fragrance? Yea.
Should You Skipped It, Sample It First or Blind Buy It? Skipped It(nothing ground breaking and it’s kinda generic…if you have over a set number of bottles…you know what i mean, you start smelling the same scent…but’s in a different bottle).
Can you use it as a unisex scent? No.
Is it the old, new formulation? New

YSL L’Homme is simmilar to Dior Dune if you would like to test other similar fragrances.

The combo of ginger, citrus, and tonka combine to make a creamy, sweet, almost ethereal scent. Perfect for daytime use in warmer months. Ideal as a work daily wearer.
