Description

Yves Saint Laurent launches a new scent of L’Homme line called L’Homme Cologne Bleue. A new, refreshing and aquatic interpretation is announced as the personification of ‘cool’, the attitude and the appearance of the wearer, as well as the scent itself. Described as sensual and intriguing, this fragrance is reportedly as fresh as a dip into a cool pool.

The new composition is signed by perfumer Juliette Karagueuzoglou, inspired by the scents of the ocean and the freedom that it evokes. Vibrant citrus notes of blood orange, grapefruit, mandarin and bergamot are contrasted with cold marine notes, enhanced by spicy aromas of black pepper and cardamom. After the aromatic heart, the composition dries down with a woody base that “brings a sense of elegance and sensuality.”

L’Homme Cologne Bleue’s bottle comes in a light blue colour and in the original shape. The face of the perfume is Vinnie Woolston. It is available as a 60 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

L’Homme Cologne Bleue was launched in 2018.

To me, this smells like those scented markers we use to sniff as kids. Which is a good thing. The opening is fruity and fresh, but then it disappears within 10 minutes and the dry-down is super weak. For a $100 bottle, it’s pretty weaksauce. Skip this one.

Sorry but no L’Homme DNA… Also it smells very cheap.

This is a discreet warm weather daytime scent with great versatility. Simple and easy to wear with moderate longevity and soft sillage/projection. After 1 hour all I get is a mild combo of sea notes and lavender with faint patchouli.

I blind bought this and I am SO dissapointed 🙁
After 30min I can barely smell anything!
    Bleue smells generic and cheap…
Some Adidas frags I have for 5$ have better quality in terms of notes and performance…
another YSL’Oreal joke on us. Do NOT blind buy this crap, seriously!

I’ll do a full review later, but I’ve already given it a couple of wearings. It’s essentially YSL’s take on Invictus Aqua. Throw in a little L’homme freshness and Eau Electrique sweetness and there you have it.
If Invictus Aqua was a little too much for you, and you wanted something that smelled even MORE like a shower gel, look no further. Otherwise, it’s probably a redundant purchase.

Wow, YSL. This sucks so badly, I don’t understand how a respectable brand releases such a crappy synthetic scent.
It opens up as an ultra-generic freshie which you can get for sale at drugstores. It smells really cheap. The price is a rip-off for what it delivers.
If you want to smell like 1000 other dudes, try buying Axe or Puma deodorants. They have more identity and character than this one.

Definitely not a winter scent, not that you couldn’t wear it in cold weather
It’s a fresh, citrus with very little of the originals DNA
Actually has decent projection and longevity which I found surprising
Probably more like a cousin of Y than the L’Homme line
    Glad I bought it

Contrary to the douche bags who troll voted this a winter scent, it is not. It’s in my opinion a good spring/summer scent. Real citrusy, but that is not a bad thing in my book. Still has faintest hint of l’homme dna. Haven’t tested extensively, as I just got it, but so far it’s enjoyable imo. It seems the Twitter trolls have made thier way to fragrantica. I find anything in last two to three years voted on here must not be taken seriously. I personally skip right to comments and look for reviews of people that actually have tried fragrance. As well, it most definitely does not smell like “nothing”. So far I find it smells like l’homme with more citrusy opening.

It has the original L’Homme DNA, but it’s made into a more citrusy/fruity edition. On a nutshell it smells like a lemon/grapfruit drink with ice. Basically a Slushie.
So when I sprayed this on yesterday I thought the performance was awful and I couldn’t smell it at all. Today this changed as I (for the first time) ended up spraying much more than usual. 5 sprays this time as opposed to my standard sprays of 2.
One behind each ear, one on the neck and one on each shoulder (on my shirt to see how it does on clothes). With all of those sprays I still didnt feel like I had too much or was offending anyone, atleast I dont think that I did. I have very honest friends at school and no strangers, if I was making people choke they’d tell me and insult me, that was not the case.
Now then – I was still getting whiffs of it throughout the day, but never have I felt like that I was dominating the area with a fragrance… like this is so light and airy that it’s just going to be irrelevant in the background, even with 5 sprays. I mean just 2 sprays of La Nuit de L’homme completely makes this lost.
I didnt feel like I was having a special fragrance that does anything to my confidence, it basically just smells like lemonade to me to be honest. If you expect to wear a fragrance for your own pleasure, this wont be it either as it doesn’t really have a strong sillage for you to be able to smell it upfront.. it’s just those whiffs here and there.
Overall, my final conclusion is as the last one. This is not worth the money you pay for it, it’s not a cheap fragrance, yet it doesn’t do enough to be worth it’s price. Plus it’s similar to L’homme anyways, just more lemon-y, so it wont feel like a worth purchase to make.
Light, airy, weak, and slightly generic and boring smelling, again, like a grapefruit drink. A decent scent, but not worth a premium price. Definitely never, ever blind buy this. Try it for a whole day first, but I’m sure there are better fragrances out there that does the same, but better.

There is a small group of 15 or 20 false accounts (or maybe more) that continues to distort the votes and the section “this perfume reminds me of”. Please let’s all try to clean up this mob, this thing must end now. HOW can L’Homme Cologne Bleue be similar to such different smelling colognes??? Please restore some order and dignity on this site and reset the votes and “this perfume reminds me of” section. Thank you

It’s an aquatic with patchouli, lavender, pepper and citrus balanced with warmer, woody notes – it’s unoffensive, smooth and polished, but does not have enough personality. I actually find it a bit sweet at first, but not enough to give me nausea (like sweet scents usually do). And then the drydown gets almost sharp – but not sharp enough to offend. It’s a pleasant scent but unfortunately it leaves me cold.

This is a good fragrance. It’s obviously a classic aquatic one, like ADG or Cool Water, but there’s nothing wrong here. It’s L’homme with a Marine note. I like it. A good fragrance for next summer. 7/10

    Pretty shit edition…
    It smells like… nothing?

    Just smelled this in Belgium.
It is very fresh, the opening is reminiscent of Frozen Cologne but even fresher.
I agree with Uchini that it is very light. Keep in mind however that this is more of a warm weather fragrance and the temperatures are still fairly low currently, it might perform very differently in a warmer climate.
Unfortunately after I sprayed it on my hand I went on to try on some clothes so it rubbed off and couldn’t test the drydown nor the longevity. Will try to update next week.

I have smelled today at douglas in Spain.
    It smells like……. NOTHING.
Smells very very light, like the smell of water with nothing more.
    Patchouly?? Where???
It is much more light than l’homme and ultime is beast in comparision with this.
It is not bad, is simply that smells sooooo light

People who give a perfume bad rating when it’s not released only to hate on it.
Do you realize how pathetic you are, arguing and getting worked up over a freaking perfume? Jesus christ..

I guess what Fragrantica’s programmers will do is they will automatically remove all the votes which come in the first 2-3 weeks after the creation of a page dedicated to a new fragrance.
This way they’re going to get rid of these idiotic jokes and leave room for the real contributions.

I love patchouli, so maybe I should buy this. LOL. Just kidding. I do hope it’s a solid offering, though.

  20. :

….and they don’t stop launching many variations from the first one. I would guess that this is gonna be as weak as Cologne Gingembre wich i have and smells like nothing.

Trolls aside, there seem to be some complaints about this being ‘another flanker’. Surely all judgement should be based on the fragrance itself, not what line it is in? They could put all their scents in the same bottle and call them 1,2,3… for all I care. Some of the existing L’Homme line are distinct enough to have been released as separate frags (Ultime for example).
So, how about we wait to see what it smells like before moaning that this scent for men is being released as part of their men’s range?

  22. :

My favorite part about fragrantica is the war between honest posters and the trolls who vote before a fragrance is released, lol!

  23. :

People on this site REALLY need to get themselves a life and stop voting on things they haven’t even tried.
I rarely use the ‘don’t you have something better to do with your time?’ retort, but don’t you?
    Jesus christ. Completely pathetic, really.
What should be done: notes can’t be voted on until the fragrance has been available for 2-6 months. The notes are listed, but only admin can vote.

What is wrong with people commenting negative already? It’s not even out that long. assholes on here smdh. Get a life. Leave mommies basement for once you snowflakes.

fRAGRANTICA JÁ ERA…OLHA O TANTO DE GENTE IDIOTA VOTANDO E FAZENDO COMPARAÇÕES TOSCAS. REALMENTE O MUNDO DA PERFUMARIA JÁ NÁ É MAIS O MESMO. SE JÁ NÃO BASTASSEM AS REFORMULAÇÕES,TEMOS QUE ATURAR OS IDIOTAS QUE ESTRAGAM A DISSEMINAÇÃO DE BOAS E RELEVANTES INFORMAÇÕES AOS USUÁRIOS DO SITE.
fRAGRANTICA IS DONE … LOOK AT SO MANY PEOPLE IDIOT VOTING AND MAKING TASK COMPARISONS. REALLY THE WORLD OF PERFUMERY IS ALREADY THE SAME. IF YOU DO NOT BORDER THE REFORMULATIONS, WE HAVE TO ATTRACT THE IDIOTS THAT STRIKE THE DISSEMINATION OF GOOD AND RELEVANT INFORMATION TO THE USERS OF THE SITE.

  26. :

I guess we should stop relying on fragrantica when it comes to fragrances. The administrators are doing nothing on the votes and trolls just roam free. Every time a new designer fragrance comes out a 100 people vote negatively without having had the option to even smell it. Guess they’re getting a kick out of it. I won’t take fragrantica seriously anymore, democracy is ruining this site.

  27. :

Guys, this is getting out of control. 84 votes for patchulli are seriosly going to rig the notes and accords statistic and ruin it for a lot of people. Its all fun and games when suggesting fragrance smells like spongbob or aventus, but this has gone too far. Id like to kindly ask administrators to remove voting on this because it can do a conciderable damage, for this many votes on a single note are not going to be overturned easely buy other users of the site.
BTW, the fragrance seems great. I know you are frustrated by YSL and their flanker extravaganza, but thats not the reason to ruin the experience for other users.

  28. :

    3 out of 5

This is just sad. Nobody’s gotten their hands on this and yet the voting is already awfully screwed over.
At least some of us will try to enjoy Fragrantica how it’s meant to be enjoyed.

  29. :

mmcdonald36 ‘ultime’ does not translate to final, it translates to ultimate (obviously). Also, the naming of fragrances and the end of the line are not two mutually exclusive things….
To all else, flankers make money, why wouldn’t they do it? Why don’t you bash another brand with a serious flanker problem like JPG or Calvin Klein? Like everything else this industry is a business destined to make money.

  30. :

    4 out of 5

Ultime was a good way to bow out and I actually believed that is was the grand finale of the flankers but silly me for thinking that YSL would not continue to milk the proverbial cash cow dry

L Oreal ….stop this mess at once !!! Or make good flankers ! I know money rules but ..come on ….

    ANOTHER ONE?!?!?! gurl, no.
This is getting embarrassing. Yves Saint Laurent needs an intervention;we know about your addiction to flankers and you have to stop!
