opening with wondrous and heady galbanum, silver, emerald and gleaming, augmented with the finest pale jewels of rose and orris. the faintest sparkle of lotus adds a sheen like the surface of still water. crisp but not ‘clean’, this is much more natural than anything approaching laundry or ironed shirts. gradually this leads down the forest path, with a stonking vetiver note darkening and grounding the scene, shrubby and natural jasmine painting tiny dots of florals here and there, and perhaps a tuberose just lending a creamy roundness to take the edge off the bite of galbanum a little. green, woody and mossy are the key words here. serene and contemplative.

Don’t let the name fool you on this one. This is no citronellol bug spray nor will it make you crave Thai food. Lemongrass is a woody mossy fragrance with galbanum on the centrestage. Guerlain’s Vol de Nuit has got nothing on this one. A gutsy galbanum combined with bitter green Ruh Khus (wild-growing vetiver) and a hint, just a hint, of florals and powdery orris to smooth things out.
This is Lucy Liu playing the boardroom bitch in Charlie’s Angels to the heart-pumping tune of “Barracuda”. Strength, dominance and danger clad in a tight black leather suit. Whip-yielding and manhandling her way through a roomful of male engineers.
