Description

“”It was once the strongest power in this region, with a name that spelled a glorious triumph. There was an abundance of treasures available on this precious land, and many of them were incredibly fragrant.” In this scent composition, we are going to transport you to the ancient land of
Sriwijaya Kingdom, an influential empire that once controlled most of the Malay and Indonesian archipelago. Sriwijaya was once well-known for the
export of a myriad of high-valued and high-quality commodities, namely oud, spices, styrax and many kinds of resins, vetiver and patchouli, exotic tropical flowers, etc.. Here we explore the theme of Sriwijaya by featuring many of the treasures that once this empire was renowned for.” – a note from the brand.

This is a curious one. It’s a floral woody gourmand. It’s well blended and no mean feat to try and identify the notes. It’s dense and rich yet curiously not heavy.
On my skin the strongest notes are the cyclamen and frangipani backed by the cocoa, spices and fruit. Such an exotic and diverse mix. It is so dense and so chock full of materials.
Slowly I detect the burnt note, resins and the oud as the floral and fruit notes ease off. Its smells really good after a while but Im not willing to wait for that. It might just be my chemistry that doesn’t allow this fragrance to smell great on me. A scent of the jungle at night.
Great longevity and good sillage in this warmish room.

This one is my least favorite so far.. I really wanted to love it, at least to like it, but it smelled wrong on my skin from the very beginning: the opening reminded me of men’s cologne, not a particular one, but a very generic, just like people say “masculine fragrance” having in mind cold, air freshner-window cleaner like scent. Whatever top notes were (I did not detect passionfruit and I know how they smell because I have a vine), I did not detect plumeria either (have that one too). Those calm down, and whatever is left, smells like soap, nothing fancy, very annoying. Would like to wash it away right now, but curious about the base note. However, who would have bravery to wear something that MAY smell good after 5 hours of smelling bad? Not me.
Update: after just a few hours, base notes are finally here, and they are really nice, delicate spicy floral. I wish this perfume smelled like THAT from the very beginning…

A gorgeous spice gourmand musk that exudes mysterious Oriental power and beauty, Auphorie delivers yet another evocative creation inspired by and named after the treasures of the ancient Indonesian Kingdom of Sriwijaya. The perfume starts off with a burst of oriental fruits (mandarin orange, peach, frangipani and passionfruit), moves to a floral spicy middle (orchid, gardenia, ylang-ylang, ginger, galanga, star anise and pepper) and finally settles into a musky, woody, powdery base (sandalwood, agarwood (oud), patchouli, oakmoss, smoke, civet, tobacco, vetiver, orris root, benzoin, olibanum, styrax, tolu balsam, cacao pod, vanilla, ambergris and musk). This is a monster mix of ingredients that somehow all blends in well together and radiates pure joyous energy the moment it lands on the skin. That being said this requires a certain appreciation for strong Oriental perfumes to completely appreciate. Tremendous sillage, projection and longevity, so caution with the spray button is recommended. Breathtaking and evocative. Enjoy!

The traditional olfactory descriptions for this scent are such a mishmash, as are the myriad notes, only a brillliant perfumer could make it work and indeed he (or they) have! In fact, all of the notes coalesce so as to become something else altogether. It’s more like a sparkling cocktail of fruity champagne, light woods and yellow flowers, none of them particularly identifiable, which is a quality I love!
On my personal brightness scale it’s somewhere in the middle as the richer elements are grounding. The general fruitiness is present throughout, like Miyako, but the darker elements keep them in check. The fruit lifts it all, which really makes it work, like in cooking that last spritz of lemon, which you can’t taste as “lemon” but it brightens everything.
Very hard to describe, the scents from this house are must smells if you are interested in non-linear non-classical maybe non-Western perfume, and if the general sense of the notes intrigue you. Verrrrrry interesting and quite beautiful, but not in a traditional sense.

“Tresors” translation is, of course, “treasures”. This wonderful fragrance is indeed, full of treasures.
It has a unique botanical smell, like one is strolling through an Eastern tropical oasis. Fresh, floral, but deeply intense and beautiful.
Personally, I wouldn’t have classified it as a “Floral Woody Musk”. It is sooo much more. I suppose those that categorize our fragrances on here were stumped, as Les Tresors De Sriwijaya defies being accurately put into a olfactory group. Yes, it is different, with so many notes, how could it not be?
But please don’t think it a mish-mash. It is far from that. To me, it is a glorious and intoxicating elixir of the Earth, but most heavenly. There is much going on in this fragrance, so it is just as I like them.
Auphorie fragrances are difficult to come by. My sample (and soon, perhaps, a FB) came to me from AveParfum’s new web store.
