I had the pleasure of visiting the Dusita store in Paris and experience each perfume personally with Pissarra. Unforgettable experience! This is my new favorite perfume. Needless to say, I purchased a full bottle and visited various perfumeries around Place de Vendome. Only purchased travel sizes of Guerlain’s Iris Ganache and Rose Barbare as nothing compated to La Douceur de Siam!

Maybe my nose isn’t sophisticated enough to enjoy this, but this was an instant dislike. All I could smell was indolic cloves that reminded me of some incense my mom used to burn back in the late 70’s.

I didn’t know what to expect with this one since the review descriptions are all over the place.
It definitely has a tropical floral presence but not creamy to me at all. The floral bouquet smells fresh, humid/wet, and a bit green. More like new blooms, rather than ripe flowers. It reminds me in feel of Guerlain Idylle, a sharp floral bouquet, where the rose dominates just slightly more than the others. There’s very little sweetness or fruitiness in this one, and though I like crisp/tart florals, this one gets too sour for me.

I didn’t like it but I’m not a fan or rose. Smell reminded me of baby wipes. Couldnt wait to wash it off.

Based on the reviews, I was expecting to be totally blown away. But usually reviews don’t actually reflect whether or not I will like a scent at all, many times I even find them totally misleading. Well not this time! WOW. I don’t know what to say about this, it’s what everyone else said and more. This might be the most expertly blended perfume I’ve smelled yet, way better than any Roja. The individual notes don’t really matter, experience this composition as a whole, like you would with, say, Shalimar. But in all honestly, to me this is even more of a masterpiece than Shalimar. I only bought a sample for novelty, I would *never* spend this much on a perfume, no perfume is that good, or so I thought. One day, a bottle of this will be mine. I’m both excited and afraid (in case I fall in love with all of these damn expensive perfumes) to try all of Dusita’s offerings. Definitely a house to pay close attention to, folks! Sorry Chanel, Guerlain, Tom Ford…none of you have impressed me quite as much as Dusita.

When he was 30 years old, my father completely lost his sense of smell after a botched sinus surgery. I asked him one day, “Is there anything that you remember smelling?” He said the one fragrance that he will never forget is the smell of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary. This lady was the patron saint of his home town in the Philippines and there was a statue of her inside of his local church. Dad recalled that when he was a young boy, his mother and his neighbors would string fresh white flowers and ylang-ylang together and placed the leis around the statue’s neck. Lady Rosario would wear layers and layers of these fragrant flowers while she stood tall, surrounded by roses that were also carefully placed by devoted followers.
