This perfume smells like the sum of its parts, so in theory I should be fond of it. However, in practice, every other time I lean in for a sniff there is something in the composition that upsets me and every other time I find it nice. Strange.

Iris by Odori is just a beautiful creation. Iris together with the heliotrope and ylang-ylang, make a very warm comforting fragrance. I also smell a bit of amber in the background. A must try for Iris lovers like me. Iris is my 2nd favorite note.

I imagine pillow fights in heaven smell like this. Poudre de cieux jardin. OUI OUI! High-fiving the reviewer below. If repetitive words irk you…skip this review. Maybe grab a stress ball. That word is powder! The best(if you like powder)! This is the best ‘powdery’ fragrance that i’ve EVER smelled. I expected the Keiko Loukhoum to have this sweet, powdery style of vanilla. Yes, ‘sweet’. I wouldn’t say this is traditionally ‘unisex’. Leans more toward TRADITIONALLY-feminine, IMO. It smells, on my skin, extremely powdery with a strong, fresh vanilla. That would be the Heliotrope.
Heliotrope and Iris are the most dominant notes in this fragrance. They are dominant all the way through it. Unfaltering! The iris here is starchy, cold, metallic, andddd…you guessed it! POWDERY(beating this in the ground)! Iris comes out in equal portion to the heliotrope more in the middle. It’s infused with a generic, but tasteful, woody aroma. Still has lots of powder! 😉
That’s all you need to take from this review. Sweet iris, heliotrope, and vanillic-powder.

Second day in a row wearing this, which never happens.
This is an absolutely perfect fragrance. It’s starts off with sheer iris and just as I’m thinking “this is a bit boring” this gorgeous, warm vanilla note eases into the composition and sweetens things just a little. Throughout the day I get these subtle little wafts of smoke that I can’t quite place which I think might be the anise. Sillage and longevity are good. Today I accidentally oversprayed and this turned out not to be a problem as there are no irritating chemicals in this one.
This is a very simple, unique and flawlessly executed composition.
And this is the impression of someone who doesn’t generally enjoy iris.
Well worth trying.

I can’t believe it took me so long to review this beauty! Odori’s Iris is beautiful and easy to love. While this was apparently marketed to men, this would be stunning on either gender.
The opening is a blast of cold, papery irones (iris) mixed with their less expensive cousin, ionones (violet), to produce a crisp and clean and almost aquatic purple floral accord. The ionones in this case read like violet leaf more than flower giving it a greenness that bolsters the coolness of the irones. There is a sweetness present from the first spray that is also more characteristic of violet fragrances than of iris.
As it dries down this gets less cold, less austere, less overtly floral. A warm musky vanillic (heliotropin+ a very soft ylang + amber combo) base accord rises to meld with the cool purple floral accord creating a very realistic reference to old fashioned lipsticks. I can’t smell the star anise, but that’s just fine with me.
Important Note for Iris/Orris Lovers: While there is orris in this, the prominent violet and heliotrope keep this from being a typical gray toned orris fragrance. As an avid fan of the funereal, gray toned orris fragrance genre, I admit that I was initially bummed by the violet since it is not listed and was therefore unexpected. However, to my mind this might be the nicest iris + violet combo I’ve every smelled. The dry down of this is incomparably ethereal.
Iris is a soft fragrance, it wears fairly close to the skin and smells chic, clean and sophisticated. This is a beautiful addition to any iris and violet lovers collection.
ETA: The closest fragrance I know is L’eau d’Iris by DSH. Its about a 90% dupe. I cannot understand the comparison to Bois d’Iris by Van Cleef and Arpels which I also own and love. Bois d’Iris is quite woody and full of myrrh mixed with a powdery vanilla iris and hints of salt.

Beautiful, linear iris fragrance.
This almost smells aquatic on me, but sensual and elegant. I don’t smell carrots here as other mentioned. Serge Lutens Iris Silver Mist has really distinct carroty notes in it, but not here. Chanel’s 28 La Pausa smells rosy to me. But Iris Odori is just right – delicate and harmonious. Must try for iris lovers.

this is a mesmerizing perfume, and the best iris based fragrance I have ever smelled, it’s very very similar to BOIS D’ARGENT by DIOR(smell wise). however, ODORI is deeper and more authentic and not synthetic at all like Dior.
I adore, I highly recommend it. and by the way this house is going out of business soon, so you’d better buy one since it still available. I’ll be buying a second backup bottle soon.

This is a gorgeous warm, soft, floral iris scent warmed by amber, vanilla and woods. I do not find this cold or carroty at all. There are many dry, cold, rather offputting iris scents out there and this is NOT one of them. To me Odori Iris is the perfect balance between the sweet irises like Guerlain’s Iris Ganache, Acqua di Parma Iris Nobile and the really dry ones like MPG Iris or Serge Lutens ice cold metallic iris.
Yes, this needs to be re-sprayed if you want sillage, but it remains as a beautiful skin scent. The heliotrope and ylang do not overpower but give the iris a richness that heartwarming for me.
I find this to be the best iris I have found for under $150.00 per bottle (yes it’s available on discount sites). I think Monegal’s Impossible Iris and Heeley’s Iris de Nuit are better but they are also drier. If you want a lovely warm iris that is not too sweet and affordable this is the one. A real beauty in my opinion.

ANYONE HAVE A LARGE DECANT OR PARTIAL BOTTLE OR TRADE SWAP?
lemontree – :
The good news is that Iris by Odori is a very nice fragrance, the bad news is that rumours want both Odori and Bois 1920 (the two italian outfits run by Enzo Grimaldi) being on the edge of stopping their production and retire from the market. Too many releases and too much competition with bigger houses can lead to a disaster for relatively small brands such as the ones we’re talking about.
Said that this is an incredibly refined a kinda discreet Iris based fragrance that’s not too far from other crowdpleasers of the genre such as Dior Homme or, let’s say Chanel’s 28 La Pausa. The main note is enriched by heliotrope and a slightly powdery ambery-vanilla base. During the drydown I notice a soapy vibe that’s typical of the brand. A perfect fragrance for nights out. Unisex. Stock up before it’s too late.

We found this in a delightful little apothecary shop in Florence this spring. The whole line is nice but this one really struck us both as the best. I an really enjoying it. The presentation flask is pretty awesome as well. Very unique.

There is sweet, powdery, cold and carrot smelling iris perfumes and there is Odori´s Iris. It is very different from other iris perfumes that I´ve tried. I think it is very nice and interesting with an unisex iris fragrance. This one is papery, dry and calm. My husband haven´t tried it yet, but I am sure it´s very sexy on men. Distingued, different, confident and mature. Would wear very well to a sharp italian suite, no matter if you´re man or woman.
Every perfume I´ve tried so far from the Odori line is high quality, kind of timeless, italian, vintage styled and vbery easy to get found of. Italian perfume at it´s very best.
A must try for iris lovers and definitly so if you are a man. Love it!
