Gucci intense oud. Current explosion in our South African fragrance market, people of all races here in SA are after this fragrance. We actually experienced a shortage of stock for this product. Nationally we seen an exponential interest in this fragrance. It has become the most purchased OUD fragrance in the Store that i work for which is woolworths gateway. With regard to the dynamics of this fragrance, its everything you want in a oud fragrance. The incense is just absolutely divine. It lasts for hours upon hours upon hours and it just gets monumentally better as it ages after sprayed. Well worth it for the price, a must have in your collection. Ideal for a big occasion, more suited toward a colder climate, winter seasons but damn use this on a summer night and you will shut down the mall, the club or the event you attending. Extremely luxurious, smells like you a billionaire. Tip: prior to purchase, ask your lady if she fancies it. My girlfriend said its too strong, however she prefers fresh and only fresh.

Is there any information about 5264 batch

This is currently Gucci’s best hands down; and one of my favorite fragrances. Gucci have been crossing the line from mediocre to serious lately, but in the last two years, Intense Oud has topped their releases. A fragrance that has the potential to fill a room; a powerful woody oriental composed with Incense, natural oud oil, Olibanum, Leather, Amber, Saffron, and Woody notes. Although not cheap for a designer fragrance but understandably so with the presence of “natural” oud oil. Intense Oud is worth owning, and knowing Gucci’s affinity for discontinuing great fragrances, grab one fast. Many mentioned similarities to black afgano, and I must say it’s true but also true is the fact that this is far more wearable and smoother to my nose. Cheers!

I love black afgano but too bad you can not wear it
everywhere. but this one is like EDT version of it.
for these peoples saying it is weak and reformulated,i had
old one and i have new batch 8149. they both smell the same
    with very stronge longevity.

I received my bootle today, batch code 8145 – biggest disappointment ever. It smells nice, I am a sucker for incense and woody accords , and this is actually a lighter and more wearable version of Black Afgano, which I like a lot. But when we’re talking about performance.. it is very weak, doesn’t project, doesn’t last more than 1 hour even if I made sure I sprayed a lot. The scent is barely detectable for the first 30 minutes, after that disappears. There’s nothing intense about this perfume, which by the way, should’ve been called Eau de Toilette. I don’t know how are the previous batches, I’ve never tried any of them but I heard that the ones that start with 6 are good, beast mode. But with this reformulated version, there’s no chance to be noticed by people around you while wearing it unless you’re spraying it at every 5 minutes.Save your money! Paid 121 euro, bought it from an airport in Rome. They’re better alternatives with less money.
So , I just checked the batch code on their website: my bootle is only 4 months old, production date being May 2018. Stay away of this stuff. Its not worth it! If I would’ve known about its performance I wouldn’t have paid more than £ 15 on this bootle.

In my opinion, I do not think anyone in the world of perfumes denies that it is one of the best fragrances of oud and incense in the current period ,,, a suitable price for designer perfumes
Incense and oud are more notable but I think it is more safe perfume for those who hate the smell of oud
    Try this
    10/10
Caution Important, for who want to buy ,,
This fragrance has been rephrased in a very bad way, beware of the patch number 7235

Received a sample of this in the post today.
Very pleasantly surprised by the quality of this.
(Personally I think the fragrances from this house in the last few years have been shockingly bad)
Very warm and almost fruity oud scent to me. The fruitiness is quite thick, almost almond-like.
I’m new to oud fragrances, but I’ve grown to appreciate YSL M7 oud, and think this one may be even better.
I need to buy a bottle before Gucci dilute (butcher) the formulation, or discontinue altogether!
EDIT: Didn’t get leather at first, but I can detect it after an hour or so, it’s subtle though. Still very nice, warm, smooth and fruity (raspberry is listed).
Liking it more the longer it’s on.

Gucci’s Intense Oud is more incense than oud to me. Yes, there is also a oud but it’s not as strong. I was hoping for more medicine/animalic oud but Gucci can’t please everyones taste of course. Oud is more creamy bit simillar to Tom Fords Oud wood. Anyway..Enjoyable to wear, nice, performence is ok. Longevity is super ,sillage good.

  10. :

    3 out of 5

huge sillage, great longevity. but reformulated. tester i tried was 6166, has more incense, its darker. sillage is lot better. then i’ve bought one with a batch code of 7295, huge disappointment. no incense. sillage is weaker, longevity is quite the same. then i tried batches with 8- same disappointment. just try to find a 6- batch code.
    TERRIBLE REFORMULATION!!

  11. :

    4 out of 5

To Morkant: You are absolutely right! Now this fragrance is reformulated to notes, similar to Gucci Oud from 2014 and the composition is fruity/floral oud, not like previous version incense/leather oud. I have no idea why they reformulated it.
Maybe from Nosomatto house didn’t like the big similarities with their Black Afgano and push Gucci to discontinue or reformulate this fragrance…who knows.

Where is the pear note above? I get a very fruity pear impression from this. The official note breakdown from Gucci mentions pear and yet here there is not a single mention so I’m a bit confused. It’s very good but not the dark, bold smokey thing that everyone seems to think it is. To me its so fruity that it comes off as a pear version of Gucci Guilty Ouds blackberry.
edit: Gucci Oud now lists the same notes as Gucci Oud Intense on the official Gucci website. what??
MYSTERY SOLVED. I went and tried Black Afgano, since many people here say its very similar. I thought IF it smelled similar then that would mean it actually hadn’t been reformulated. They smell 80% the same. So it hasnt been reformulated, it just doesn’t read as “dark” or “intense” at all to me. Oh well.

One of my favorite perfume houses for men and women, beside YSL. I LOVE what Gucci Oud has to offer, and now comparing it with this one, I think the Intense is suitable for men much better than the other unisex one. Such a guilty pleasure going thru my husband “stuff” and secretly sniff it 🙂
I don’t care what version is what of this fragrance, as long as it makes my man smell GREAT, manly, sophisticated, comforting and irresistible to me. I’m definitely an Oud girl and not so much of an “incense” fan. But the incense here actually works, as it is not overpowering the leather and olibanum note (the two notes that I prefer over the “tobacco” at anytime). The smooth woody/”Oud-y”/”smokey” composition got warmed up by the help of amber, but not bold, nor loud in the face. Don’t know what Gucci Guilty Oud smells like, but I think this one leans more toward a “modern” masculine Oud fragrance. Since now we found the Intense for him, I can keep the Gucci Oud ALL to myself 🙂 We also tried Versace Pour Homme Oud Noir and we decided to invest in this one because it is smoother and more balanced for sure.
Too bad that where we live has longer warm months, and doesn’t have 4 obvious seasons, because I think this one will best perform in fall, winter and maybe early spring. I guess the hunt for an all year round good Oud perfume may never end 🙂

@martin8604 I had a bundle of Gucci Oud (female version) and Intense Oud and they smell nothing a like.

  15. :

    4 out of 5

I don’t know how it was smelled before, but now the Gucci Oud from 2014 (with bottle design from Gucci’s women series) and this Gucci Oud Intense have exactly same notes: Pear, Saffron, Raspberry, Rose, Orange flower, Oud and Patchouli. Seems they discontinued the previous composition and now they put same juice in two different bottles. I check the official site of Gucci and Notino and i saw same fragrance notes for both bottles. I thought it was a mistake, but NO…i smelled this fragrance and it smells exactly what they listed…with predominant notes of Rose, Raspberry and Patchouli. The Oud in it is very light. The sillage is moderate for the first hour and then become a skin scent. The longevity is moderate. Overall this is a nice, relaxing scent, reminding me of good tea, but nothing in common of what is listed on this site. After i watched a couple videos in YouTube where they present the old formula i’m very curious what it was smell like before…but maybe i will not have a chance for that.
PS: I tested a bottle with batch code from January 2018.

This is absolutely gorgeous. I got it from absolute fragrance in Lagos Nigeria. Performance is ultra combo. I just can’t get enough of it. Very well done Gucci. Wished it was more than the 90ml. This will make you smell like a royalty. Love love love

I got my bottle today and it is such a shame that it is so warm now. It definitely does remind me of Black Afghano, dark and mysterious oud-based scent. Gucci has labelled it as unisex but I, just like many others, don’t think it is feminine or suitable for many ladies out there. It definitely is a really nice scent by Gucci I must say and especially if we look at the price per mL. Well done Gucci!!
    Scent: 9/10
    Longevity: 10/10
Projection: 7/10 but I m sure that it is just bcz of the warm weather.

After reading all the great reviews I was going to blind buy this one. Thankfully I didn‘t.
Tested it out at the local department store yesterday and also got a sample.
This juice smells sour. The first 10 minutes are a nice smoky oud scent. But then it simply goes acid sour.
I have a picky taste for oud. I don‘t like it blended with roses or sour.
My favorite oud is fruity and leathery like Byredo Accord Oud, sweet like Atkinsons Oud Save the King or woody and smoky like TF Oud Wood or Versace Oud Noir which I love in the winter.
But Gucci Oud Intense is not for me.
Lesson learned yet again; Do not blind buy folks…

  22. :

Its an incensy oud noir with a classy vibe

  23. :

    5 out of 5

The first time I tried this fragrance I didn’t like it, and preferred gucci oud; but as I kept on sniffing my wrist more and more it started growing on me, i’m not really into incense scents at all, but the incense here is really delicate, mysterious, and appropriate for ladies, now I find it sexy and smokey, and wonderful especially when I mix it with something sweet, fruity, or patchouli based fragrance!!
The fact that some people see it goes better for ladies, and some see the opposite makes up a statement, it creates a special fragrance for both genders, “cool man /mysterious lady”.
I really do enjoy wearing it right now, and I have nothing similar in my collection, and it gives me the urge to try more and more incense fragrances!
    The quality: perfection.
    longevity and silage: V. good.

Best outdoor oud based fragrance for men , it last 8 hrs on the skin, the magic of compliments begin after one hour of spraying

  25. :

    4 out of 5

Great job from Gucci to create such an amazing juice. What I initially get from IOG is Olibanum, a load of wood and insence, which is essentially a majore player here, at least to my nose. I also get the (Oud) but just a hint of it, if there is any. Therfore I`m a bit on the fence about it, whether it`s oud im smelling or a combination of wood-notes, and the same applies to the leather-note, as well.
The overall aspects of IOG to me, it`s dark, sophisticated, redolent and rich for a designer. I love Black Afghano and Cuirs Barcelona, and, IOG is arguably in a similar vein as BL and Cuirs.
    Scent 3/5, been done before
    Performance 4/5

  26. :

    4 out of 5

IOG is a lovely fragrance if you enjoy “dark” and “plum” smelling fragrances. The Oud notes could be a bit more pronounced though to give this fragrance more authenticity.
I do believe IOG really improves after the three+ hour mark, and will require a few honest days wearing to really understand, and appreciate how IOG smells.
    Overall Score: 7.5/10

That is the notes from the Gucci website, but it is obviously a typo because they are the same notes in the women’s version on that site as well.

Bought a bottle not so long ago.
IMO it’s somewhere between Oud and don’t know what. A little bit of hashish maybe and a lot of resins. Talking about smoke – for me it’s more like myrrh. Plus there is a fruity aspect – a berry for sure but
I don’t know whether it’s raspberry. Might be.
Definitely not a masculine fragrance – women can easilly wear it.
Very good longevity – about 11 hours on my skin. Sillage is poor to medium.
Not innovative nor inspiring in any way. Quite solid – yes.
I think it’s not worth its price.

  31. :

This is not similar to black afgano, I have a black afgano and I love it as this is very dark, mysterious and woody masculine fragrance. Not sickeningly sweet like designer fragrance; whereas on the other side I tested gucci oud intense today. Firstly this is not intense by any mean. Very generic mass pleasing designer fragrance, and also it is very sweet floral, have a lot of jasmine blast in heart note. I am sorry to say this is not black afgano replacement. Black afgano is love or hate kind of fragrance. Where as gucci intense oud is generic designer mass pleasing synthetic smelling sweet floral fragrance. To me it’s very much towards feminine

Don’t go ebay with this one as there are too many fakes of it, spend $10usd or so more and go to notino.com as I did with my second bottle and have no regrets. 12 hours of longevity or so and the most beautiful scent. Highly recommended!

  33. :

    4 out of 5

For those of you who have bought the fragrance, where did you get it from? Considering ordering from ebay because it seems much cheaper than directly from Gucci.

  34. :

    5 out of 5

Worn this for the first time today and wow top notes are sweet but not gourmand and defo leaning more towards a male fragrance. Base notes are kinda peppery if you get real close to the skin. Performance is really good and lasts around 12 hours with a good 5 hours of sillage. Also got a compliment today which is a good sign too. Great buy from Notion.

  35. :

It is totally Arabic scent, continuously expressed and full of incense

  36. :

    4 out of 5

It’s intense but to be honest I don’t smell much of Oud. It’s rather more like amber with a strong leaning to patchouli. It reminds me of a Nasomatto imitation.

Amazing perfume from Gucci. I got as a gift frome my friend in the beginning I don’t like but after dry down become much better, moreover it’s long lasting and has good projections
    Love it.

The fragrance is intense. Very Intense. Longevity is through the roof so go gentle on the spray. I absolutely love the fact that I put on a fragrance by 06:00 in the morning and by 08:00 PM when I’m ready to take a shower, there it is still going strong as ever. Absolute Beast…

@joenick68 I think that was unkind of you to put another reviewer down.
I am new to this is a community, I am more into collecting books. But it seems that this place should be a place of good vibes and respect for one another. Please do not do that to others. 🙂
I’m going to have to agree with the reviewer MyCoh_JayRo below me.
In my opinion this fragrance isn’t as good as I hoped it would be. But I am so excited to try other colognes. This one does smell rather strange after a while.

  42. :

    3 out of 5

    Update:
I am wearing for the second time and I think this fragrance is growing on me, and that I will be reaching out to it more often in the upcoming cold season.
I got a complement after more than 6 hrs. wearing it and I can still smell it myself whn I move my arms or turned around and I mean that I can smell the perufme with out reaching to my wrist but in a ver subtle way.
I think the Oud blend is very nice and well achieved, and even though I am not a hater I have to disagree totally with the review from MyCoh_JayRo down below, that’s a harsh review he posted and totally misleading, but looking at the amount of Oud base fragrance this person has and the amount of colognes well I can understand it, but I won’t tell people buy or not or don’t pay attention to all the ‘hype” at the end we all have the right to express our opinion, but don’t tell me what or not to do.
I agree with other’s review that this is one of the best recent creations from Gucci and well is not cheap at all, even as a tester it goes for about 90 USD, which in my opinion are worth it.

  44. :

Probably the best creation from this house. Intense oud is very similar to Cuirs from Carner Barcelona both excellent perfumes and long lasting.Truly fantastic, not much to say.
On their website this are the notes, and the writer of the site might update it.
    Top
    pear, raspberry and saffron
    Heart
    Bulgarian rose and orange flower
    Base
    natural oud oil and patchouli
    Available 90ml

A nice fragrance, the oud is synthetic and smells exactly like the oud in other low cost fragrances like Acqua Di Parma et. al. Nonetheless, it still smells great and I have had many compliments wearing this. Longevity and sillage are excellent.

Arguably one of the best perfumes on the market. Its dark and mysterious leans more on the mature gentleman side than a unisex fragrance. The oud note in this one is well tamed. A fine fragrance indeed one that turns heads. A germ from Gucci.
Great performance, massive, exclusive, simply charismatic, powerful, compelling and a compliments galore. It smells great and will make you feel like a million bucks. get one, while it’s still in adventure stage before they do any reformulations
    Perfect 10

Really nice fragrance that brings an appealing scent together with dark elements into harmony. That is where niche sometimes goes wrong for me.. They get too dark or it ends up just smelling like burnt ash or camel anus.. This is a good one. Smokey, woody, some light sweetness.. bold and a good performer.

I cant believe that Ive found a signature scent with a niche quality. Good job Gucci!
If everyone said that this is Black Afgano similar scent, if some people feel the BA has an offensive smell. Its time to mix it with Gucci IO. Gucci Intense Oud has a sweetness oud and its wearable so if you spray 1 Black afgano n 2-3x Gucci IO, I think it will have a great scent.

Imagine: you’re on the second date with this girl, whom you find very delicate, bookish, dymanic, she likes the finest things in life, unique and when she comes close, you smell something green, something Bvlgari..She started rubbing her arms, being chivalrous you offered her your black leather jacket on which you’ve worn simple Arab based oud two days ago.
Goodbye, with a tender kiss, jacket returned, reached home, slacked on the couch, suddenly you catch a whiff, green, freshly cut dry, cold grass with a hint of Oud. Suddenly you’re smiling thinking this could be a something better, picks up the phone, sent text ‘my jacket smells of you and I really like it

Yes it certainly reminds me of Black Afghano too. Not much of a price difference between this fragrance and Black Afghano in my country, so it’s better to buy whichever one you actually prefer. Frankincense gets stronger on drydown and oud recedes a little. I like but don’t love, but that’s how I feel about Black Afghano too.

Got this in yesterday and was a little skeptical and excited at the same time. When I opened the box and smelled the cap, I said, oh my! This smells fantastic. I have duro by Nasomatto and I can see the similarities. However, I know this gets compared to Black Afgano and if it’s that close, why spend 185.00 for an ounce when you can get this for 65-85 on Notino. Anyway, thank you Gucci for a wonderful release and I can’t wait to wear in the Winter.

Gucci Intense Oud is a good release, a designer-priced (especially on the grey market) oud/incense offering with niche quality.
Leather is listed in the mix but I don’t get it, mainly just the olibanum and oud, with some woody notes as well, perhaps cedar or oak.
Overall, there’s not much to it, and its elegance is in that simplicity. If there IS leather, it’s hardly all that animalic, but rather a smooth contributor to an otherwise smooth blend of incense and oud.
The closest comparison I can make is to the more refined By Kilian Incense Oud, which is undoubtedly smoother yet substantially more expensive at retail at ($395 for 50ml) than Gucci Intense Oud’s pricing on Notino of $90 for 90ml.
While it’s not all that daring or complex, I concede that it’s unusual to find a fragrance so well put-together at designer pricing.
Performance is very good overall, both in terms of projection and longevity.
Not one I’d necessarily buy since I own By Kilian Incense Oud, but one I’d surely consider.

Personally to me smell of Gucci intense oud is okay, but my wife says it smell pretty rich and also it projects like a beast. It smells like “Indian Pan” at times. But I give this a thumps up! Great job Gucci!

  59. :

Monster performance.. heavy sillage.. dark and deep.. absolute banger for buck.. something probably very much expected from the resinous and respected house of Amouage.. Thanks Gucci.. for this niche masterpiece at a designer price.. it actually fits in private line..

  60. :

I like the smell, but not too much. It is a soft oud with incensed atmosphere but not the church incense… as incense sticks . all softened by amber. and I also feel a sweet note as a fruity …maybe raspberry, pear? leather is soft. I also feel a sort of orange blossom and a light rose. we’re sure do not miss some notes? because I feel similar to the notes (not all notes, of gucci oud)
It is different oud. not pungent but I was not convinced at all. It has an incredible sillage. It fills a house and longevity over 12 hours !!!!!!

the last masterpiece from the house of Gucci was Gucci by Gucci pour homme (now renamed Gucci pour homme). Since 2008 this company has released one failure after another( Dreadful Gucci Guilty line). Finally it took them almost a decade but they have redeemed themselves. What a fantastic fragrance. If you like oud then just buy it, dont even think about it just buy it.

a very good oud based perfume for western noses. in west oud is mostly combined with lots of amber to tame it down. same happens with polo supreme oud and armani oud. but this is more classier oud than those two. i have a 90ml bottle of this and two sprays of this lsts for 10 hours plus with good projection for atleast 4 hours. have tried it in winters only. eastern noses or oud friendly noses may not like this tamed down version of oud

    @happyjack,
Hate to be that guy- you are correct in that those are the notes from the website, but I believe it is a typo, because both frags have the same notes on that site. Just my two cents tho!

  65. :

Wow, there is a lot of hating going on. Oh well, they say it stems from somewhere else, I really doubt it’s this perfume, maybe spending money elsewhere and finding out it’s available cheaper? I don’t know.
What I do know is hate does not make a review. There are still some who are lifelong learners, continuing education in all life has to offer 🙂
Top notes of pear, raspberry and saffron
Heart notes of bulgarian rose and orange flower
Base notes of natural oud oil and patchouli
That is straight from Gucci’s site, I’m not sure anymore what natural actually means today, I know what I would like it to mean.
Also, how many have gone for the artisnal Oud’s? Most of those pack the whallop of a dabbing a half-drop on the center of my steering wheel while driving, while doing so, hot someone and the air bag bashes my face in. Now that was an old school, classic Hindi! LOL.
Seriously, I like to come back down to fragrance west a couple times a year, especially for gifts. Tis the Season…
I love raspberry and extremely fond of saffron, and those are 2 very difficult notes to use in a frag without giving away cheapness, and it’s not a candied fruit nor a wilted saffron. The drydown is nice and it is a medium performer. As far as the Oudh,I have no idea, you can put 1/4 natural, whatever natural means today and add it with 3/4 synth…? I’d have to max spec it and I’m not interested. I look at Ouds today as where is a person in their Oudh journey so I can gift accordingly. This seems a good gift for about 75% of the people in my life.
And for the money, you can’t go wrong. Real Oudh, at 3ml, begins at just shy of 3x’s this price. And some of those are even wearable.
Life is too short. It’s a frag, and everyone is different. That’s the beauty of people, especially women. If they were all the same, my life would by complete, and thus, over. And perfume is much like a lady to me, as different and alluring as everyone’s top 10’s, as playful as citrus scents and as alluring as they choose to be. They’re ALL beautiful in the eye of the beholder.

This fragrance was just love at first sniff. Its dark and mysterious leans more on the mature gentleman side than a unisex fragrance to me. its more closely matched to Versace oud noir though this has that ember resin note that mellows out the powdery notes. The oud note in this one is well tamed unlike Tom Ford oud wood, it is not in your face but yet retains the sophistication of the tom ford. it does have the middle notes similar to Black Afgano but the dry down is similar to Versace oud noir with a hint of Tom Ford oud wood. A fine fragrance indeed one that turns heads. A germ from Gucci.

I feel this is a very underrated incense frag. Has a nice pleasant non church incense note, made smooth, dusty, and creamier from the addition of Oud. Smells like an unlit incense cone. Great performance also, but decidely linear. I am curious how this compares to the big names of incense, of which I have not tried any.

Opening: Very strong amber-y oud accord.
I advise everyone to test this on skin and NOT on paper, because that strong opening will most likely stick on paper for a long time and you’ll probably give up and end up missing the good stuff coming after.
After 15-30 minutes, it turns into….yes you guessed it: Black Afgano.
Smoke and dryness intensify with time. Some saltiness and a nutty semi-sweet vibe appear along the way.
The type of smoke here is very reminiscent of Black Afgano type of smoke so don’t expect a straight up liturgical incense here.
Longevity on my dry skin is 10-12 hours with moderate projection.
    Very good release by Gucci.

This juice is similar to Black Afgano….I just purchased a bottle of Nasomatto’s famed juice and I must say the similarities are very clear. It is only the herbal undertone of BA and the leathery base of GIO that make the two depart somewhat but they are both similar with the Incense and Oud notes. Both fragrances are wonderful works of art.
Edit: So I have been wearing this juice consistently for a month or so and I must say I just have to stock up on this before it gets reformulated. It’s that good.

Gotta disagree with some here, just tried it and I get a bunch of frankincense-oud with leather and resins. I think it’s really nice and actually prefer it to Versace Oud Noir. I think the Versace is too soapy, and this is a bit darker but not heavy. Initial impression is very good, I could see wearing this often. It is different from most, it has a slight warmth from the resins, and it is well blended. I am getting great sillage, fairly strong at arms length, but just lovely. I am so pleased with this. It has a nice oud, which reminds of the oud in Fan di Fendi Assoluto, but without the sometimes overly intense cardamom. While I appreciate input and opinions, I am very glad I blind bought this, despite suggestions to the contrary. It may not be groundbreaking, but it is pleasant, a bit mysterious, and different. I don’t know much about synthetics, but it smells nice, thats all I know, or care about.
    Initial impressions
    Scent – 9.5
    Sillage – 8.5
    Longevity- ?
Bottle – 9.5 – that doorknocker cap is so damn pleasing
Will fit nicely in my top 3 with Montale Greyland and Bentley Absolute.

I essentially agree with antonpan. I tried this five weeks ago and cannot understand how they have managed to get the two words ‘intense’ and ‘oud’ past the advertising standards authorities! I could only just detect a faint oud note and all I got was a spicy acidity rather than a warm or acrid oud… and no, I’m not an authority on oud, but I think all of P&G’s titles have jumped on the oud bandwagon in a disgraceful manner using it to promote sales on the unwary. was not impressed at all with the fragrance in any respect and the only t
