Airy and herbal, this scent plays all the photorealism cards of the others in the line, focusing more on a general headspace than any specific item that you might find in said kitchen. It’s a breezy, crisp kind of air scent that’s undercut by notes that read a tad culinary—parsley, oregano, perhaps some tomato leaf. There’s a minuscule phenolic note, a bit like the sulphuric note in Burning Leaves, but it’s barely there until the late stages of the scent (which, for a CB perfume, is about 15 minutes in). While I love many of Brosius’ snapshots—even the ones that last just a few minutes—I’m not getting the point of this one. It doesn’t seem to be able to commit to a dedicated aesthetic well enough to generate interest. As far as the wear goes, like many of the scents in the line it has about the same tenacity as a standard fragrance that’s been worn for 24 hours. Extremely weak and fleeting, although that’s by design. Not the best thing he’s done, and in the time it took me to write this review, the scent all but vanished.

The smoke is the first thing that comes out, and after an hour or two it’s more fresh herbs and wood. It dies with a thin sweet green whimper after about four hours. like most the cb line I’ve tried, its really not very long lasting and ends on a disappointing synthetic sweet note.

In the Summer Kitchen makes me think of picnics and summer rain, it’s a very soft, breezy, outdoors kind of scent, with something warm and humid about it. It has a smooth, sweet green smell like grass with a musky vanillic smoothness and a breath of soft, sweet naturalistic jasmine.
The reviews for this were pretty surprising to me, I don’t get any foody notes out of this really, other than a savory-smoky undertone, it’s much more breezy and green-floral I think. Although it’s not listed in the notes, I could see the jasmine being the source of the “banana peel” people are mentioning, but I don’t get nasty rotten banana at all from this, and that’s a smell I especially hate. There’s also an undertone of something sagey and herbal, but it’s more like a garden than dried herbs for cooking.
Overall, I think this is fascinating. It’s really soft and shifting, it’s a little different each time I smell it. Definitely worth trying if you like sweet grassy-green fragrances or if you’re looking for something that’s quietly unconventional.

TinyTaupeTint you are perfectly right… this fragrance smells like banana peel. At first I saw zucchini, mushrooms and parsley, but now I see just banana peel. Lol.

The funny thing is, whenever I smell “The summer kitchen” I smell bananas. On my skin it becomes very fruity and warm. Like a summer kitchen in New Orleans, in which grandma bakes fruit cake and banana bread on a hot and damply summer day. It’s a nice smell, but definitely not one of my favorites.

Imagine a beautiful, young, Italian mother in a 50-ies movie. She is cooking a lot and working hard to take care of her big family. This is what I imagine she would smell like.
The most distinctive note is a light, unobtrusive, smokiness. I think it stands out to me because I normally don’t wear smoky perfumes. I also come to think of a pot of Italian soup, full of green herbs and fresh vegetables that have been cooking over an fire until it’s just done, all the aromas and flavours to blending into one another.
But paradoxically I wouldn’t call it a foodie scent either. I find it comforting and easy to wear, maybe that’s because I also cook a lot and take care of my family… It’s far from glamorous, but for that Italian 50-ies ambience, it’s just right.

Mmm, do I want to smell like a kitchen ? Maybe, if the kitchen is smelling like fresh baked cookies, or jummie cupcakes……….
