Description
Hymba is the name given to a semi-nomadic population living in
the deserts of northern Namibia. They obviously live off what little
nature has to offer them. The Hymba WOMEN extract a particular
resin called Omumbiri from a plant which originates in
that area (like Boswellia, where incense comes from). Other than
selling it, they use it for a very particular purpose: they mix it
with butter and red soil and make a compound which they rub
on their bodies, thereby becoming real human sculptures with a
bronze colour and a heady resin-milky scent. “I was so fascinated
by it that I wanted to create a perfume inspired by the Himba
women. I buy Omumbiri and in my laboratories I transform it
into a resinoid to give life to this fragrance.” – Enrico Buccella.
Description of the perfume:
This fragrance forms part of the “SIGILLI” brand, an ethnic perfume
with a customary construction, having an olfactory pyramid
that opens with the spicy notes of myrtle and citrus chords
followed by the warm and cosy heart of vanilla and milky and resiny
notes of Omumbiri. The underlying notes are woody, based
on sandalwood, cedar and birch accompanied by amber. Hymba was launched in 2012.

To me this is a very firey scent. I definitely get the mood of dancing around a bonfire with it.
It is a lovely resinous incense-like fragrance that I can’t actually distinguish as something I’ve smelled before but is comfortingly familiar. There is a lovely cinnamon undercurrent that is there adding to the warmth but never overpowering.
As it dries down it gets more salty like the cleanest sweat ever. I’m looking forward to wearing it again.

Citric resin and more more more resin. Very unusual incense, only slightly similar to the myrrh, with very milky (like condensates milk) and sweetened flavor of vanilla. Woods, as cedar and sandal give it a bit more masculine character but very tempered by smooth amber. All ingredients are dancing together and no one is dominating. Hymba is really taking you to African savanna to the place where our ancestors developed. Fragrance has something very natural in its heart that is difficult to describe. It is like smell of happy vacation, lazy days in the wood cabin with opened windows were wind brings the smell of soil and fresh hay. But it has also delicate animalistic touch, very pleasant and warm, underlying natural character of this perfume. I like it a lot. My new discovery, recommended for everyone who like warm fragrances.
