This brings back memories of White Shoulders for some weird reason and…I don’t like it. I loved White Shoulders as a child, but I haven’t smelled it in years and I dread doing so as I’m sure the reformulation has left it a pale shadow of itself. Hummingbird has too much going on for my nose to decipher and I just don’t like it. It’s too jumbled up and I can definitely smell that skankiness lurking underneath the White Shoulders paleness on top. Very strange fragrance…

This is skanky in a sexy way. I bought a full bottle. A perfume for those in search of a positive frame of mind. Hummingbird always puts me in a great mood but I can’t say why. Maybe because she is just so…over the top! Who isn’t delighted by a visit from the elusive hummingbird? Not to say this is in any respect an elusive fragrance. If you are adverse to sweet scents you may want to hold on to a chair or something. Upon initial spray, Hummingbird is a syrupy powerhouse. Think honey poured over a bowl of pears and bananas followed by mimosa and ylang lang. Leather is not listed but this is after all Zoologist. I am blessed by Hummingbird’s light leather accord all the way through. Hummingbird has a classic if not vintage vibe. It is a bold yellow floral slight fruit gourmand ending with leather and powdery lipstick. I have not sampled any fragrance quite like it though it feels familiar. It works well when sprayed on a black corset. This is a girl with dark secrets. This is a glamorous female attorney with a can do attitude. She is employed by a drug cartel. Hummingbird is not for everyone. Cabbage face, crabby people will probably find this scent repulsive.

I shouldn’t love this, but hot damn, I really do. First of all – whipped cream? Uh, no thanks. All those fruits? CHERRIES? I am far more of a vintage, mossy, chypre, stanky kind of gal. I cringed when I saw the note pyramid for this juice.
    But holy cow.
She is a gentle lady, but not shy. She is bright and cheerful, in an understated way. She’s not Neon Cheerfulness, she is slightly fizzy Romping In The Garden.
Of the fruits, I do get a big cherry blast in the opening, but it’s quite organic and not sticky at all, thank god. After that, I’d say I get pear more than the other fruits, but a very crisp, slightly under-ripe pear. Lovely. Crisp, airy fruits are supported on a thick, buoyant bed of lush spring florals and quiet musk. I don’t really get the honey that so many others have.
Overall – this is delightfully refreshing and unexpectedly bouncy fragrance. She is not challenging, but she DOES have a unique edge to her. She puts you in a good mood. I can already tell that my bank account is in serious trouble with this House.

So I have 5 samples in front of me from Zoologist, and this is definitely in my top 3. (the others I have are Civet, Bat, Elephant, and Macaque)
Hummingbird is definitely a bright and airy feminine perfume. It’s fruity, but not juvenile, it’s floral, but not overpowering, and it’s fresh, without being sharp. It’s the most feminine out of the five I’ve tried, and probably also the most “approachable”.
It’s floral, and I think I’m well-versed enough in the world of perfume to distinguish at least some flower scents from one other, but with this I can’t pick any flowers out of the mix. Maybe it’s expertly blended (probably) or maybe I’m not as good a nose as I think (very unlikely XD).
When I try to imagine visuals to go along with perfume, I think of a bowl of fresh fruit and berries, topped in powdered sugar, sitting on a table in the middle of a fragrant garden in full bloom. (can you tell I really like this fragrance?)
It’s sweet in the same way that whipped cream is sweet, or maybe even that sugar-water they use to fill up hummingbird feeders… not that I know what that tastes like…
I would imagine that this would be the perfect perfume for a woman from the ages of 16 to 25. Not that women of other ages can’t pull this off- (or even men!) – I just imagine someone like that wearing this in the summer, possibly in a soft-pink dress that dances in the breeze.
Anyways, I would recommend this perfume. Although, I did have my friend smell it and she immediately said it was “too flower-y”. I don’t get that at all, but all of our noses are different!! Order a sample first!
    Peace

    Adorable.
This is an adorable floral. It’s not pure honeysuckle, at least not honeysuckle as I remember it. It has a more white florals, a bit of sourness, and a touch of spice. Overall though, it’s a heavily honeyed floral.

Hummingbird, at least for me, is heaven on earth! For some time I had been looking for an interesting, semi-invasive floral that worked on my skin like an external bubble, which reached two strokes and above 14 h; this I found and the happiness of being able to enjoy one of the most thought-provoking floral evolutions I have ever experienced, has been almost unmentionable.
    1. Like the other perfumes of the Maison, Hummingbird immediately refers to the image of a hummingbird and the cool one, is that we can find out what the path that this little animal can instinctively go through a day, its wings flap , its panoramic flight or upside-down, its pecking, its mate, with what it feeds, everything that touches and directly can emanate to a peculiar, own aroma. In spite of the astringent and heavy exit, referring to the clean and uncomfortable footprint of the Prada Amber Pour Homme, in this one the Cherry inside the Honey attributes a sweetness that makes bearable its exit nothing common.
    2. The odor that awakens in the heart is a violent blow, although I feel prominently the Violet Leaves and a Rose in freshly cultivated green stem, which for me is evident, it is initially a scent of hair, but also I feel in the portentous Mugler’s Alien Eau de Parfum, but in this hair they passed a lot of hair and dryer at maximum power; the yarns almost start to sizzle and the scent of natural products for hair, with clean scalp and “semi-toast” becomes evident.
    3. Here lies my passion for Hummingbird, it is where I smell mother, smell of embrace, where nothing else becomes scary, and at the end of a day drawn there is a soothing bath with reward of a resting smell, which lasts for long hours even after a deep and necessary sleep. It is at the base, the best that the hummingbird can capture, process in its beak and delicately return in the form of aroma, its visits intense, mega, fast and admirable. Scary, yet fine, exquisite scent with a feeling of: Embrace me forever!

    (review from sample)
This is a super nice, clean flowery perfume, which screams spring and happiness :).
I cannot really distinguish between so many notes, but mimosa, honey, hlneysuckle and lily of the valley, plus maybe cherry and pear, are definitely there.
It is very linear, and a bit soapy as well. It lasts very long, while projection is moderate.
I really like it, it’s elegant and classy but also very “approachable”, not too snob. I wish it were a bit less soapy though, a bit warmer and more honeyed, but it is lovely all the same.

The list of notes in Hummingbird is very long, so it’s hard for me to distinguish between the different florals. or all of the base notes. Honeysuckle was the immediately recognizable opener for me, which surprised me. Then, honey oozed in soon after. I don’t detect any fruit whatsoever…none. Maybe as I accustom myself to this lovely fragrance I will find it!
I like it, I don’t love it. First try, my overall impression is of a fine honeysuckle soap even a few hours in. Maybe I’ll update this after more “practice.”
    UPDATE a week later:
Tried again and sadly, it’s just not for me. Now, it’s a one-note soapy honeysuckle. I still cannot detect any other notes, not even the honey that appeared last time, I’m craving something sour-green!

Extraordinary. I imagine tropical floral happiness and sunshine. Playfulness and freedom as the hummingbird itself. Very unique, I would say, and unisex. Leaning a bit feminin, but this smells so good that I would wear anyway. Its very smooth and sophisticated. I cannot pick out any notes, but the words coming to mind are «heavenly nectar». Thats what it smells!

My aunt had a lotion that smelled like this (my best guess is Nature’s Envy in the purple bottle), which is a shame because my aunt and iI don’t get along but there’s something about this scent that I absolutely adore. When I first tried it my first thoughts were “people who smell good smell like this.” Call it floral, or fruity… it’s a medley of green organic freshness and mirth that lasts for *hours,* sometimes *days* on clothing. And yet somewhere underneath all that whimsy there’s a streak of powerful confidence that can be described as nothing else but sexy. I haven’t bought a FB of perfume in *years* but Hummingbird has won me over.

Charming floral fruity journey around a sunny garden. It does have a lot going on but I think it relates well to a hummingbird’s frenetic travels around a garden. It changes distinctly at the middle notes to a very clean scent. Very wearable, very pleasing.

I totally agree with the reviewer below me! Hummingbird is beautiful – however for me – i cannot afford the price tag for this scent. It wasn’t unique or long lasting enough for me. I have a few more Zoology samples I’m excited to try. I thoroughly enjoyed using my hummingbird sample.

I’ve obtained a small decant of Hummingbird, and now that I’ve worn it for a few days I can finally understand the fuss about the Zoologist brand. The opening of Hummingbird is a bit of a mess, but very soon it settles into the scent of honey and the breathtakingly beautiful flowery meadow. There are also some fruity notes in there, but honestly I can’t tell them apart. Then Hummingbird remains in this sweet honey-fruity-floral territory for the rest of its development. It projects magnificently and lasts the whole day. Now, I was banging my head trying to remember what it reminded me of, and then I remembered – the good old Burberry Weekend for women! These two scents are not identical, yet they’re quite similar and a less sophisticated nose would hardly be able to tell the difference between them. So, if you’re lusting after Hummingbird, but can’t afford it, go and grab Burberry Weekend for her, which is ridiculously cheap nowadays.

I’m usually more of a mossy woods/Chypre and spice/oriental kind of gal, and there are very VERY few fruity floral gourmands that I get on with, but this is one. Pretty much the only other is Lolita Lempicka. I think it’s because the fruit is relatively subdued and the gourmand notes add some depth and character more than making me smell like baked goods and candy. The sweet is floral sweet and honey but not like a white floral bomb and not cloying (although maybe on very hot days). Very nice for spring. Like most very evocative of the hummingbird’s environment of blooming flowers and nectar, and takes you on a scent journey. Another Zoologist I love

    4 out of 5

Among the Zoologist fragrances I tried, Hummingbird is definitely one of the less weird, more easy to wear ones. Because it’s sweet and floral, I think it smells traditionally feminine. But that does not mean that this just an average fruity floral – it might not be too challenging, but it’s extraordinarily beautiful!
It’s fresh, creamy and nectar-like in its floralcy. The fruity notes aren’t loud, but clearly there. I get some cherries, apples and fresh, crisp pears. The main floral notes are sweet, realistic lilac and tulips. Thankfully I don’t get a strong lily of the valley from this. Maybe a hint, but even for a lotv-hater like me it doesn’t ruin the scent. But what really makes the fruits and flowers special and delicious is the light and airy whipped cream note that stays through all phases of the scent.
The honey notes slowly creeps in when the fragrance dries down. Honey sometimes turns on my skin, but here it doesn’t. Together with the musk it gives the perfume some depth and warmth. The late drydown is a long-lasting skinscent that smells quite sensual, like warm skin with soft honeyed florals and cream.
This is a lovely springtime scent. It’s creamy, but not too thick or sweet, fresh and clean, but in a natural way. The connection to a hummingbird sucking nectar from flowers is plausible.
There is only one minor, small flaw that keeps this from being my favorite Zoologist (which is Dragonfly). In the middle phase, when I press my nose close to my skin, the flowers are sometimes (not always) a little tad soapy. Honestly, I don’t mind it all that much, but I wanted to mention it.
I’d recommend everyone who likes fruity florals, but is looking for something special, to try Hummingbird.

  16. :

I had high hopes for this one, since I love fresh florals. BUT: certain flowers don’t exactly lean too flattering on me, giving me that indolic jasmine cat pee sort of thing. This one does that.
The initial blast was like walking under a mimosa tree. It reminded me of redbuds, magnolias, daffodils, and daisies. But within minutes, it went down to straight-up urinal cake. Like a portapotty at a downtown festival. My skin chemistry simply eats this one alive, and it’s a shame because the notes were right up my alley.
I’m sure this would be a stunning fragrance on someone else. When I spray it on a strip of paper, it’s blissful. But I’m glad I got a sample size of this first because I would’ve regretted the full size.

Hummingbird is very well balanced. Because what could have turned out to be a mess of too many notes, instead captures the season of Spring!
On me this is not very sweet or fruity. Instead, it is a natural smelling floral with powdery soapiness. The honey adds richness and depth rather than cloying sugariness. I don’t get grape at all. The only fruit I smell is a soft, sour cherry that is well hidden in the back.
Is is more conceptual than literal. I feel this fragrance evokes summer in the 90s, with its maximalism aesthetics: Ruffled gingham, seashell art, white rod iron furniture in gardens, straw hats, silk sunflower arrangements, small decorative soaps in powder rooms, sheer curtains, a yellow and blue sunporch…
Definitely a nostalgic and positive scent! A great floral fragrance to try if you are not overly fond of the category.

Sweet nectar of the Gods… if the Gods were hummingbirds.
Forgive my plebeian nose but at first spray this reminds me of grape kool-aid… a better version though… if hummingbird gods created their version… its effervescent and sparkling. Created by pouring out nectar from honeysuckle, lilac and fruit blossoms… mixed with super sweet fruit juices.
This develops beautifully… somewhat artificial at first but it quickly changes and I actually percieve flowers blooming out of this ambrosia.
A river of nectar with endless flowers floating in it.
    This is exquisite
It is truly evocative, it pleases my nose and sparks my imagination.
Sillage is good, longevity is astounding… I can smell it on my jacket days later.
    Full bottle here I come!!!

To me, this smells like Evyan’s Most Precious and White Shoulders back when they were well made and produced by Evyan (not the junk White Shoulders of today). Complex but light, floral and feminine. Love it!

A light, pretty, airy fruity-floral with whipped cream and cherries up top!
The cherry note hit me first, a sweet red cherry drizzle over lilacs, lily of the valley and honeysuckle. That whipped cream note shows up within a half hour, and then an airy pleasant clean musk as the cherry is joined by apple and the lily of the valley and lilac are met with a soft clean rose.
Soft moss shows up in the dry down, and the fragrance lasts at least eight hours, although toward the end it is a quiet, delicious little hum of sweetness and blooms.
    Delightful.
update: This has very impressive staying power, especially on fabric. Today I wore Truth or Dare on my skin, (a true powerhouse scent), and wore the scarf I had last worn while wearing Hummingbird (weeks ago..). I was delighted to get wafts of that soft, fruity-floral musk even through clouds of Truth or Dare.

You’re a hummingbird, and in case you forgot, your entire diet is flowers. Today, you have an infinite garden before you, but you can’t stop fighting the other hummingbirds for your spot at the honeysuckle, lilac, and cherry trees. The other hummingbirds are like okay, whatever, and they leave you alone so you can indulge. It’s a pretty good day until the evening, when you get home after a day of selective sampling. To your surprise, you find out that mama hummingbird sampled just about every kind of flower there was, and you sigh as you get into bed with her, because you realize that she isn’t at all as picky as you, and you begin to wonder if you’re at all anything special to her, if she’d happily sample any of the other hummingbirds in the way she’s sampling you, and you slowly fall asleep. Hummingbird by Zoologist.

I am beginning to think this house just doesn’t work with my chemistry. This is a hodge podge of florals on me. Nothing special and smells too synthetic. So in LOVE with these bottles! I wish something would work just so it could be on my perfume tray.

  24. :

    5 out of 5

The first time I tested this scent, I hated it. It was a screetchy fruity floral with a piercing cherry note. Since discovering that the Zoologist sample sprayers dispense too much, I revisited this one with a lighter spray. The application made all the difference – this is a sweet and innocent floral fruity scent. Hummingbird is mostly lilac and maybe a little lily of the valley, with pear, cherry and musk. As it dries down, I get more musk and whipped cream. It’s a pretty, girlish take on the often “old lady” scent of lilac and lily of the valley. I like it but I’m not sure I’ll reach for it often.

I typically lean toward fragrances that are positively masculine, so I wasn’t expecting to like this one.
I am shocked. It might be my favorite in the whole line.
I usually dislike floral scents.I can’t stop smelling this though. Maybe I just love honeysuckle. On me, that is the most dominant note throughout the fragrance.Hummingbird hits it’s peak awesomeness at hours 3-6. Also – This really only seems to work well on skin. Don’t bother testing on paper.
It probably is too feminine for me to be able to pull off. I don’t care. I love it. I’ll wear it.
    ————–
    edit- –
After nine hours, it turns sulfurous on the skin – but for a while there it is just plain glorious.

Apple fruity floral. A lovely little fragrance – a light, delicate, unique take on the boring fruity floral genre – but… it’s a fruity floral. I’m pretty much over this entire genre of fragrance. Still, this is Zoologist so their take is unique and beautifully done. First off, apple is a fairly unusual note to find in fragrances; not unheard of but not common by any stretch of the imagination. But what makes it unique is the underlying green, almost mineral notes. That would probably the oakmoss and violet leaf. This is a very easy image to make; that of sweet spring flowers amongst crisp, green leaves, the hummingbird’s home. Fresh, lively, and delicate.

  27. :

    3 out of 5

Not my thing *at all* – a sweet, sunny, fruit-heavy floral – and yet from another angle, it’s absolutely stunning. Won me over by sheer force of personality, swaying even my cynical, smoke-and-spice-and-wood loving nose with its extraordinary natural realness. It’s Zoologist all over, somehow just smelling 1000% more organic and rich and complex than anything so sweet and fruity normally does. Despite all that honey and ylang ylang (and what reads like a full grocery’s worth of different fruits) it somehow does not cloy. A masterful bit of blending; it looks so intricate that it might be shouty or chaotic, but it all hangs together in one delicious whirl. It made me smile. (And you have to know me, to know quite how big a deal that is.) So even for something I can’t quite see myself wearing I have to give Hummingbird its due respect. If you, like me, are a moody hardbitten seen-it-all sneerer, just take a hit of this… then see if its pure lush springtime fertility changes your mind, even if only for a day. It’s a joy and a delight. Somehow it’s genuine optimism, bottled.

  28. :

Wow. This is a nectar. Yellow, juicy, delicious & packed with the power of the Sun. It’s definitely honey sweet, but not in an overpowering or girly kind of way. This is a complexed juice that has been so well constructed that it is hard to pin point one note at the time. They keep dancing and buzzing together like life itself. These are Hummingbirds indeed.
It’s a celebration of life and joy in a perfume.
Big buzzing bold opening and after the first blast that has a sharper tone to it probably due to the apple & citruses it develops into honey, cherry & pear. But don’t be fooled, this is no were near a fruit salad… There is a flower bouquet blooming and a backdrop of earthy notes with a dash of musk and woody notes.
Very wearable. I can see my self wearing it on cooler summer days, Spring & sunny Autumn days, but you can really pull it off anytime. Unisex, but probably not a safe blind buy.
Very good longevity and moderate to heavy silage. Overall great performance.
Tested from a sample sent directly from Zoologist.
EDIT I have just ordered my FB!

This beautiful fragrance captures a morning in Eden in its lushness and diversity….nectar, pollen, sunshine and flowers. It evolves over the course of the day. Six hours along and I was still basking in my scented aura but was ready for a new fix. And re-sprayed. Four compliments in one day, including an elderly man who described the scent as “heavenly.” It is both calming and uplifting. A gentle mood enhancer.

I wish I was smelling what everyone else is! I double-checked the notes on Zoologists website and cannot believe this isn’t an aquatic! I smell a light, ozonic, clean floral with aquatic notes. Very much a shower clean fragrance on me with heavy notes of calone. It is definitely unisex, veering toward masculine on me. It may be the pear that is dominating and reading that way on my skin. I’ve been wearing my sample for about 6 hours and it has stayed fairly linear. I got my sample of Hummingbird from a well-known niche on-line dealer, so I wonder if there could have been a labeling mix up?
On another note, I adore Macaque and Nightingale!
EDIT: So, I didn’t want to give up on this so I just reapplied (8 hours after first application). I applied heavier from by sample bottle and that has made a huge difference! Now, what was a masculine, generic, clean Calone, is fruity and succulent. I clearly smell ripe cherries and apples. It’s almost like a completely different perfume!

  31. :

This is a succulent perfume. The cherries and pears are toothsome. The lilac and honeysuckle make the fruits drip. A perfect balance of fruit and floral, it will please lovers of either category. Waddington has captured the essence of the hummingbird beautifully and perfectly. Bought a FB without hesitation.

I recently ordered a set of samples from Zoologist because I’ve heard really intriguing reviews about their scents, and Hummingbird was the first one I decided to try. My goodness, this is a sweet perfume. Not in a gourmand way, but more in the sense of sweet fruits, freshly picked, and sweet flowers. The first sniff of this is cacophonous and my nose had no idea what to make of it. It quickly turned into apples, pears, and cherries, along with honeysuckle and lilac. Everything smelled so fresh and juicy, like it was straight out of nature. A lot of people seem to get a honey note from this, but I didn’t get honey specifically, but rather its traits; the fragrance became smoother, richer, etc. As time passed, it also became a bit greener. I never got any of the woody or resinous notes from this, and let me tell you, this lasts long enough to get a lot of notes. One spray and you’re good for the day, two sprays and everyone in the room will ask what you’re wearing. It’s not a bad scent, but I personally found it to be too strong. I know a lot of other Zoologist scents are equally strong if not more, but if this is your first one, just be aware that you don’t need too much. The first 30-60 minutes of this were lovely, but like I said, it’s just too much for me. Still, anyone looking for a fruity-floral that doesn’t smell like every other one on the market should absolutely try this.

  33. :

    3 out of 5

For the first minute I experienced Hummingbird as a bit messy synthetic. But very soon it evolved to a very interesting floral and fruity honey centred fragrance where the honey sweetness is supported by mimosa.
Smelling Hummingbird on a distance is a great experience – there is morning-cool summer, there are flowers and there are hummingbirds.

A strange thing with Hummingbird, during the first hour, is that when I smell it very close on my wrist I get a strong synthetic note drowning out the other scents. But when I increase the distance this effect fades away and there is a harmonious blend of chords with honey and Lilac in the frontline. My guess is that this synthetic note is a part of the Lilac chord, but i can’t really identify it.
In the dry down Hummingbird is warm, sweet and woody but still with an uplifting freshness.

To me Hummingbird is a wonderful olfactive interpretation of imaginary hummingbirds, perfect for the spring, presaging the summer to come.

  34. :

Massive 90’s-style, intense, borderline screechy, floral. I know I used the word “screechy”, but interestingly enough, sometimes I like florals like that, and I like Hummingbird a lot. It’s super bright and just screams SPRING! I don’t notice any particular flowers, just an overall intense floral with fruity undertones, mostly wild cherry, as well as fresh floral undertones that could be peony, I can’t be sure. When I smell this, it’s like the sun is so bright that it blinds me. Bold florals aren’t really my style, I am more of a woods and resins lover, but I must say that this fits beautifully into the Zoologist line because it’s almost like an experience rather than just a scent. You will not only see the world though the hummingbird’s eyes, but you will also be part of it. The artistry is commendable.
Update: Like became Love! It’s really an exquisite floral, and I now pick up the creamy base note, which I didn’t before.

Hummingbird is a stong honey mixed with a bouquet of summer flowers type of fragrance. Very feminine, highly refined. It starts off quite soapy to my nose, but about half an hour later it tones down, and you’re left with honey, lilac, honeysuckle and a mix of other flowers. It is very naturalistic and I feel like I’m in my grandma’s flower garden, which is a plus for me. This just brings back memories. I believe Zoologist is great at painting the picture, it’s just amazing. Would use this with caution as I feel like I could get attacked by a swarm of bees wearing this 🙂

I was given a sample of this juice from a generous Fragrantican. I expected to love it. Sadly all that I smelled from the vial was something akin to artificially flavored, tooth achingly sweet, grape soda. When I applied a small amount on my wrists this morning before work the sweet grape soda vibe intensified. I waited in eager anticipation as it slowly faded. Instead of something creamy and nectar-like the resulting mix of fermented honey, honeysuckle, lilac and chypre notes was nauseatingly like bleach based laundry detergent on my skin. I’m so disappointed in this one. Apparently my chemistry does not work with it. Thankfully sillage and longevity are minimal. I’ll test again on another day and then pass my vial on to someone else who loves it.

I have never been complimented by a stranger on my perfume. Now and then a friend will go in for a hug and say that I smell nice but never, ever out of the blue.
Until today. The harried lady at the post office stopped dead in her tracks, looked up and said “you smell soooo good, what are you wearing?” She went on to say how she cannot stand perfume, most people come in wearing choking clouds that make her feel smothered. But this? She wrote down the name and the Etsy shop where she could buy a bottle.
That’s Hummingbird. Bright, clear spring florals dressed with dew and a dollop of fresh glistening honey. This is all singing honeysuckle and lilac on me with a bit of musky/sweet honey in the base. It is breathtakingly beautiful and so unlike most perfume that it seems to take people by surprise. I am enchanted by it and am dreading the moment my sample runs out and my bottle hasn’t arrived yet…

Not a bad fragrance, quite sweet but I feel it to be just slightly secretions magnifique-esque…anyone who has heard of that perfume will know, that has some rather interesting associations. Perhaps it’s the moss. Not a buy for me.
*Upon second testing, the drydown is surprisingly citrusy! A pleasant surprise.

Zoologist Hummingbird reminds me much about the Old Town and the Jewish district of Kraków. When I smell it I can almost feel the warmth of the setting sun embracing me as I walk into a small bookstore. The scent almost makes my world freeze for a while and takes me back to these golden days when I had nothing to worry about. It is so nostalgic that I cannot tell whether it is a dream or reality.
I don’t usually adore sweet perfumes, but Hummingbird is an exception. It is sweet in a natural way – like ripe fruits in the fall. So divine!

Zoologist Hummingbird is a beautiful perfume with strong honey, honeysuckle, apple, cherry, musk and wood notes. It is sweet but not cloying. There is something so sexy about this fruity-floral beaut. The perfume lasts and lasts. Sillage and longevity are awesome. Hummingbird is ideal for day wear during spring and summer. This is a perfume wardrobe essential for lovers of sweet scents.

Could there be a “prettier” perfume? I don’t think so. Sweetly feminine, a classy fruity floral, the honeysuckle and mimosa are strong at the top. A deep, fluffy, honeyed richness enhances this fragrance before yielding to the softer lilac and pear. Soft woods, sandalwood most notably in the base, brings this perfume ever so slightly to ground. This perfume is delicate, light, whimsical even, but still retains an opulence of elegance and class. Beautifully complex, and even slightly nostalgic, it doesn’t surprise that its creator is also the hand behind Civet. Perfect sillage, great longevity. This is very well worth acquiring.

I love everything about the Zoologist line: how Victor Wong went from perfume fan to perfume impresario, the way Zoologist showcases some of the best indie perfumers working today. I also think Shelley Waddington creates gorgeous perfumes. Although the Zoologist site describes Hummingbird as a “diaphanous scent” with “light floral tones,” to me, it is a potent, high definition fruity floral. But although I can carry off Bandit, Diva, and Coco without blinking, Hummingbird is too powerful for me. It’s a tangy and sweet mojito of fruits and flowers, Vitamixed into a modern floral that does not feel retro in any way. The scent has an almost metallic edge, as if you were licking it from an icy silver spoon. Hummingbird lasts more than 24 hours on clothing and at least 12 hours on skin. Zoologist Hummingbird reminds me that tiny hummingbirds are the real brutes of the air: they are the only birds whose flight relies on their inc
