This fragrance can be described with one word: CHEAP!!!
I’m not one to dump on fragrances unnecessarily, but this one is the total opposite of its fraternal twin brother “Cool Water.” If you’re old enough to remember the old Christmas TV show called “A Year Without Santa Claus” with the Miser Brothers, then you know that Cool Water is “Snow Miser,” the cool, fun, happy twin who likes to dance, sing and party…and this Hot Water crap is “Heat Miser,” the mean old a$$hole-ish twin who is stuffy, grumpy, probably wearing dirty, soiled underwear and is more than likely…drums please…CHEAP!!! Honestly, this fragrance smells like stale cinnamon swirling around in old tap water from the backyard water hose with a pinch of “tacky” and a heavy dose of…yep, you guessed it…”CHEAP!!!” In fact, I think CHEAP is the top, middle, and base note in this one. Don’t…just don’t…PLEASE, DON’T. If you insist though, your woman should drown you in the toilet bowl and put you out of your misery.
BEWARE: A snaggle toothed female BUM just might try to give YOU some “spare change” if she smells this mess on you, because she’ll know immediately that you’re either pitifully broke or just plain CHEAP!!!

Love original Cool Water and also the Freeze Me. But Hot Water was a let down. It doesn’t smell warm or spicy it smells like a synthetic mess. I can’t say it smells like anything maybe bug spray.

Thought when I huffed this year ago, it was just an overly-iso’ey forgettable cheap mess.

Sometimes you just want to smell cheap. Good, but cheap.
That doesn’t mean I am cheap, just want to smell that way. Love this scent.

Yes there’s an interesting chilli note in here but otherwise not much else going on.

smells as a fresh, red, ripe, sweet pepper. A bit too sweet for my skin.

I have previously reviewed this edt, honestly as a customer, and had my review removed. Starting to wonder if this site is as impartial as it wishes us to be? Bought it again from a chain store Chemist, I still find it a bland chemical mess that smells of nothing…inmho..

This smelled kind of like jello shots or alcoholic gummi bears…not necessarily douche-related. Haha.

  9. :

In the opening you’ll get the chilli instantly. It’s not a sweet scent for sure. It’s spicy from the start till the end. If you’d like to sniff it during colder weather you may buy it yourself.
I don’t think that it projects so well.

I think this is an especially unique fragrance. It is not like Xeryus Rouge, though people commonly associate the two in some way. There is that pimento note they share, but Hot Water does something completely different. I love both.
Hot Water remains clear and watery (like water); I even smell a reminiscence of that rare smell of evaporating water, and this is NOT the same as the common “aqua” type of smell in a thousand fragrances in the last decade.
The wormwood plays a starring role, and I never get the artificial or plastic smell some reviewers dislike. This never comes off as cheap on my skin. I can see how others might wear this differently; my skin is relatively oily and really tends to hold on to fragrances.
This is a standout fragrance. I cannot compare it with anything else I have smelled. Completely unique and good. I just ordered a second full bottle.

I’ve just got the perfume and to me it actually smells very similar to adidas ice dive. Its a slightly stronger version of it and more spicy

So I just smelled this side by side with the Enrique Iglesias night adrenaline And by accident in my spraying frenzies realize that these two are 75% similar and both smell really good..If someone out there owns both I would love your personal feedback on that thank you!!! Just my observation and data sharing For the fragrance diaspora… good day 2 all!!!!

My boyfriend owns more perfumes than myself and this one is by far the best.Smells heavenly. I don’t feel anything bitter just pleasant scent. Hot indeed

Let me start by saying “Wow”. How will I describe this fragrance? Ok, Bitter and then sweet. First spray I got basil and something spices and some kind of oriental thing. After five minutes sweet benzoin come out with exotic patchouli plus a little bit tobacco. Sweet and spice and sweet and sweet again. But in a men way not girly, not at all. This will fit for men at any age. When I close my eyes I see a guy with mystery in himself, hot, sexy, calm, confidence with his attitude.
Longevity is great 6-8 hours on me(oily skin). 3-4 spray in daily and add a little more at night.
Sillage is good, bold and flow in every way
May I change the name from Hot Water to Hot Stuff ? Really like it.

Davidoff Hot Water it’s a bit unique and not in line with the general opinion people have about Davidoff fragrances. Some people are going to like it and some others will hate it.
TOP NOTES – The opening reveals a bitter, green, peppery, spicy but somewhat sweet scent. You are surprised by initial harmony coming from the initial notes – Wormwood and Basil. They do not shock you because you are used to find it out of perfumery. Mexican food and Martini are good examples. Young people and infants will certainly not like it.
HEART NOTES – After 15 minutes you start to smell a very heavy Paprika but well tamed by Patchouli. You don’t get a HOT Paprika… you get a somewhat sweet Paprika that I consider very agreeable, probably the best part of the fragrance evolution. I would describe the main note as recently cooked Spanish-style “Pimientos de Padrón”- Paprika anyway. Probably the first time user may expect to find a scent that would fit a hot badly behaved rebel James Dean type, and you get a humorous but strong and firm middle aged elegant Sean Connery.
BASE NOTES – The final evolution gives you a mild sweet resinous Stirax blended with strong benzoin. You end up with an average sillage, average longevity, a sweet/elegant/agreeable but inoffensive dry down.
SUMMARY – It is masculine fragrance but some people may judge unisex. Its pretty unique but you may get some vibes from other scents like the unisex fragrance Hermessence Paprika Brasil from Hermès(my opinion, others may have a totally different opinion). I recommend you to use it in autumn, spring and summer nights.
I do not think it is a clubbing fragrance, but it would certainly fit elegant people playing Jim Rummy or Bridge.

I love growing chilis, eating chilis and wearing chili based fragrances. This fragrance is the perfect counterweight to Cool Water; CW is green and HW is red, CW is relaxed HW is bold. Great projection and longevity (8-10 hours for me.)

Loved it. Reminds me of Kenneth cole Rsvp.bought it as a blind buy after reading reviews here..i must say this is pretty strong and lasting for abt 6 hrs on me.leaves a shiny/oily base..which i guess is good as with all good colognes..currently my fav

I owned this fragrance years ago and found it to be an ok scent but nothing spectacular. It doesn’t last very long and although i certainly don’t dislike it, i won’t be picking up another bottle within the next 240 years.

Davidoff Hot water is a weird fragrance for me because I have love-hate relationship.
First, Its a really spicy fragrance when I spray, get the pimento and bezoin and it slowly become sweet but not thsat much. It’s a mysterious fragrance for mysterious people.
Really a cold weather scent fall and winter
=Opposite of Cool Water for spring and summer
Day and night, for any occasion
This fragrance last a long time 6 to 8 hours and stay on the clothes for weeks (if you have difficulties to love the smell that can be a huge turn off)
    Good projection
Got few compliments if wear it right
half spray on the chest and 2 on the neck…more its cloying and you’ll get an headache
    7/10

pretty close to Emmanuel’s Ungaro’s nice Apparition for the flowery & powdery start off side except it is followed by a warmer, hotter side. I could not choose between those 2. Have the hot water fragragrance for more casual days & activities to keep aromatic more distinguished Ungaro for special evenings & events:-)Conclusion, this hot water is as good as cool water. 1 for hot summer days & the other one for cooler days. No idea why beauty shops will not sell it no more & how come it is so under rated. I love it.

  22. :

Underrated for sure. More sweet and woodsy than hot, yet warm and fresh and fairly unique (at least in my small collection). I catch myself sniffing myself quite often. Makes me want to find some Hot Water Night, which I am currently unable to track down and have never experienced.
And this is my girlfriend’s favorite, which says a LOT.

  23. :

A pleasant fresh, warm, woody and sweet scent. Longevity and silage moderate. If you sniff deeply, there is quite a lot of character to this, however, some people might find this too generic. Easy to wear and, 7/10 for me.

This is quite an underrated fragrance in my opinion, probably because it’s predecessor was so popular.
I’m on my third day trying this (I bought a 110ml for next to nothing) and find it to be quite the opposite of what i was expecting it to be.
There is definitely a bit of spicy peppiness to it but it is also very sweet.
Unlike “Cool Waters” which can be a little overpowering, this is a calm reserved scent.
I’d recommend it for winter time, it is also fine for office wear.
From reading rosembloom’s review down below, I agree, would be hot on a woman, especially a Spanish Señorita!
    Pleasantly surprised!

this is a pretty unusual fragrance, not in the fact it smells odd it doesn’t, in fact it smells great to me but unusual in the way that you’d think it would be overpowering with spice being the prominent note but on me its weak. you can smell it but its quite a calm scent honestly, i spray a lot of this to make it last & you can get a good couple hours out go it but it doesn’t fill a room. that being said i like it a lot & wear it often. it can get compliments so thats always a plus & you can pick it up cheap surprisingly so well worth a try if you haven’t already

  28. :

    5 out of 5

Super generic. You would swear you are spraying a NEW version of Axe on yourself.
Remember how popular Cool Water was 15 years ago?
Having said that, this is Fresh in a sweet sort of way with a gentle spice. Perhaps an oriental, I love this scent. It smells great.
It has a similar personality to Prada Lunna Rosa Sport, Ferrari Man In Red, etc, although it has completely different notes listed. (Now, now, I didn’t say identical, I said “similar personality”.) Although the dry down is darker with Benzoin than the other two.
Totally synthetic, totally smells great. Sexy, I love it, for $20 you can’t go wrong.

Weirdly, one of the fragrances that projects like beast on my skin. Warm scent with good longevity too. There has never been a day without compliments wearing this, although not a great fan of its smell.

Smells like Azzaro Elixir? Smells like Xeryus Rouge? Spicy? Hot? Cinnamon Red Hot Tamales? Smells like Azzaro Elixir? That will be a big fat NO to all of the previous questions. I’m not sure what fragrance these other reviewers were sniffing cuz it’s not Davidoff Hot Water!
Hot Water starts off very fresh and green, almost herbal. The “greenness” goes away as quickly as it came and the fragrance becomes dominated by the pimento note. There is a faint, underlying sweetness begging to be released and consume the overall freshness of Hot Water, but it never happens.
The fresh and zesty accords slowly thin out and make room for a non-sweet benzoin. It gives it an oily/industrial vibe.
That’s Hot Water in a nutshell. Hot Water is no more “spicy” than a typical men’s designer fragrance. There’s nothing “red” about this fragrance. It’s a burst of fresh and zest. It’s not cloying or loud… If the name wasn’t an attempt to ride the coattails (sales) of Cool Water, it may have been successful because it smells so damn generic (like Bleu de Chanel). It has the scent of fragranced men’s grooming products (lotions, bodywashes, deodorants, etc).
Do I recommend? Yes, but only to a beginner or for someone as a gift.

Definitely a chic magnet, initially smells like a woman’s perfume but received very good compliments from pretty girls to aunties. 😀
I stay in a tropical climate, juice last max 2-3 hours (day or nite) on me and its sillage is good for first hour thereafter getting closer to skin each minute and getting invisible to everyone after 4-5 hours but still lingers on the skin for more than 12-16 hours.

I remember one year this came out and it was around 50-70$ canadian and then a year later I was in a liquidation and they were selling it for 20$. If that wasn’t a sign for how bad this was going to be I don’t know what is. I bit the bullet and bought it. It gets sickly wearing it. I ended up giving the bottle to my brother or someone.
Dior Ferenheit , Lacoste red, even the new polo red which I’m not liking are better than this.

  35. :

The Opening Note is Awesome better than cool water for me
BUT i dont know if its a marketing strategy done by the perfume on its own , its smell vanishes in a few minutes.
All that is left is a very weak smell of benzoin thats hardly noticeable. Super Low Sillage is the biggest flaw in its formulation.
    Needs reinventing IMHO.

This is probably my favorite scent I’ve worn to date. It’s gotten me the most compliments of anything I’ve worn. Spicy, masculine, really brings out your natural man scent. It’s very much for nighttime wear though, a little too strong to wear during the day. Hot Water also has great longevity. I’ve gone out and woken up the next day, 12+ hours after I applied the cologne and I can still smell it on me and on my pillow. It’s fantastic.

  37. :

    4 out of 5

Great concept by Davidoff to go 180 degrees from Cool Water. That’s as far as the compliments go from me, as I agree with what others have written. Upon the first spray, Hot Water presents a second of promise and then too many minutes of regretting the synthetic notes as they assault the senses…made the whole family sneeze!

  38. :

    4 out of 5

The spicy scent that stays longer on your skin gives a great feel even after a tiring day.
This ofcourse smells great on a cold rainy day, but I tried it on a sunny day and found equally fun.
The oreiental spiciness and benzoin and a hint of basil makes it a real hero. . .

Can a woman pull off Hot Water? ohhhya! Perhaps it is my Medeternarean skin that reacts so nicely to this spicy fragrance… or maybe it is just made for me but this baby has won my heart. I am surprised by the negative comments though i do understand how some can be over/Under whelmed with this frag.
When testing Hot Water, it is important to not compare it to
Cool water lest you want to be disillusioned. They smell very dissimilar . Some like it Hot and my skin sure seems to since on me it smells fresh yet balmy and is a great alternative to my usual feminine florals and vanillas. I am entranced with this fume. ( perhaps because my late father wore it and it brings back fond memories?). It has replaced CH in my wardrobe ( Carolina Herrera) which is a spicy and rather sharp scent. This one has added warmth and radiates beautifully on my skin. My nose does not detect any particular note when I wear this: it is more of a empowered feeling I get from it. It gets me going when I have a long day ahead of me and I wear it at home for me myself and I.and we all love it ;).To me it is a scent of nature, of empowerment and comfort. Even though I got many compliments on it I do not wear it out of my home since it is quite potent and more of a therapeutic aid than simply a pleasant scent. I am enjoying my 100ml which I got for next to nothing but would not repurchase. I guess its a ‘kick’ for now! This here kitty is not affraid of Hot Water! 🙂

There is something terribly wrong with this frag. I tested on my skin when buying it, thought it was lovely. but one hour after that I could smell nothing and smell like nothing. Maybe its just me…

  41. :

    4 out of 5

An underrated budget fragrance that isn’t sexy, beautiful or even all that appealing as a fragrance per se, but emits a strong spicy masculinity that is somewhat fresh, somewhat oriental, somewhat balmy and herbal topped with a hot Mexican cayenne feel. It reminds me of a trip to southern Arizona or northern Mexico in the late winter when the cacti are blooming and a fruity, musky, woodsy floral feel fills the air. JohnnyJazz and Wutanga13 summarize it best down below, but don’t give too much credence to the negative reviews here about longevity and projection. Hot Water is a solid performer, longevity for me is extremely good and projection is heavy at first trailing into moderate after a few hours. This is a minimalist version of Givenchy’s Xeryus Rouge that isn’t anywhere near as sophisticated as its influence but easier to wear and a bit more versatile beyond just winter. Not a scent that will get you noticed by women, but it’s a great casual and outdoors scent that exudes a sense of raw masculinity. If you like a fresher spicy vibe, this is one worth blind buying.

  42. :

This is waste of money I recommend everyone not to buy this product cool water is much better than this. Longevity 15min it will vanish u can’t recognise after 15mins it smells cheap barber shop and no projection at all

  43. :

    5 out of 5

This is a great oriental spicy alternative for those that may not like the geranium and cactus dominance in Givenchy’s Xeryus Rouge. Instead, what you get in Davidoff Hot Water is the same pepper heavy, herbal, spicy masculine powerhouse in Xeryus Rouge but without any floral embellishment; allowing the basil, patchouli and wormwood to standout under the pepper and balance it into more of a minimalist scent. Longevity is extremely good on this, 8-10 hours,(I’ve gotten as much as 14) is quite standard for me after several wears and moderate to high projection without any real let up until deep into the dry-down. This one is a real performer and you can expect 2-3 sprays to last all day or all night. The scent itself is not gorgeous or particularly sensual and won’t be considered that appealing by most, but its very masculine and warming in late fall and the heart of winter and seems to really steam off the skin and present a rather aggressive first-impression. If you love spice and herbs but without a lot of frills, this is a great one to look into. Its price point is quite low considering just how effective it performs and it’s often readily available at discounters. Don’t ever consider paying MSRP. A better value than Xeryus Rouge, all things considered. Overall 7.75

hey guys, please dont use this one on the wrong way, if you see a tv comercial that shows a man eating one apple and drink coca cola i kwon you will fall in freaky, why? because coca cola was not made to drink while you eat apples!! so, why do you think hot water was made to be used in a dry day or night? i think that is the cause of some people dislike this one (and the fact they spect some feels like cool water), its the opposite, oh please!!! I used this one before and dont liked it so much, very pepper, but i fall in love when i use this in a COLD RAINING DAY(i will try on a cold night), the pepper was wonderful, because the cold it was not so sweet (like some peoples said) and was simple but very rich of hot senses … some people compliment a little diferent vibe next to me, an hot aura i think. I dont been exactly in the rain like the promo video shows the guy ( and the girl *-*), but it work very well, remember the tv videos of coca cola i mentioned, and think about this on the way of orther fragrances, the noses do a perfum and shows you the intention of the frag, on the bottle, on the name, video promos… try the correct way before you comment… sorry for the poor english

Despite lots of people don’t like it and find it chemical, I don’t share those reservations. I would hate it if it would be artificial, but it is luckely not (I would not use it otherwise). I think its a wonderful nice n warm oriental fragrance. I bought 3 bottles already. Good longevity n silage. A good friend uses it also and the perfume is, despite his high skin acidity, also good but gets darker sooner and more peppery spiced. At my skin it stays fresh very long. Also its Big brother Cool Water I like much. Thumbs up for also this one!

unless you are extremely comfortable with the benzoin smell, don’t even think of it. that’s the most dominant note of this juice, which also forms its base. and that means, after about four hours, all you can smell is benzoin. Longevity is well beyond eight hours.

On the contrary to my catagorization of this fragrance as more suitable to be worn at night, I actually used an entire 60ml bottle in no time… as my gym bag cologne.
Maybe it’s because it’s powerful and cuts through the chlorine smell that still lingres even after showering?
    Anyway…
It’s warm, spicy, oriental, super sexy and I love this…total departure from cool water which you would expect and much nicer in my opinion.
Massive projection, never overpowering great stuff.

No one ever mentioned about sandalwood. In my place, from childhood people are used to the sandal paste. It smells to me exactly sandal and that too little powerfull yet pleasent. This is my first use and it’s been almost 2hours of application. Will update later.
Update:- It was really a pleasent experience. It was strong enough for everyone to notice. The projection lasted for 4hrs at nearly 35+degrees celcius temperature. Even after 8hrs the smell is strong but with less sillage. It is definetly opposite to coolwater, but it is also a classic one. I love the coolwater, and now I love the hotwater too. But after 8hrs, I felt lack of depth in smell, and still I love it – love at first smell.

I’m not a scent expert and often buy blind, based on reviews on this and other sites.
This is just ‘OK’ in my opinion. Initialy this is more of a ‘fresh’ scent for me with spicy undertones as it dries down which is pleasant enough. Not a favourite of mine but will do for everyday use until it runs out although I wouldn’t buy it again. This decision is based on the longevity and silage which isn’t great in my opinion. As a man, I don’t carry a handbag and my pockets aren’t big enough to carry this around in order to reapply during he day as is required with this.

  55. :

    5 out of 5

I use Cool Water, but I tried Hot Water recently and I love it more than Cool Water. Especially when it dries down on my skin. The morning after I could still smell it on my wrist, and I just couldn’t resist sniffing it throughout the day. Warm spicy is exactly how I would describe it!
Now looking at other reviews, you can clearly tell that it doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll like this if you’re a fan of Cool Water. So definitely try it out before blind buying (but to be honest, I never blind buy anyways).

I was in boots when I tried a tester and man I was attracted to it immediately. This is a cant go wrong fragrance for me and I reckon its perfect for going out at night or evening it has a strong scent but also soft in its own ways. I got about 3-5 hours with 3 sprays. It is definitely the opposite of Cool Water. I got a 60ml(2 FL OZ) for about £19 online. I cant say it smells like something ive smelt before but try a tester and im sure you would like it. I will be getting another bottle when mine is finished.

This is a nice mens fragrance if you like to keep things simple and smell good.
It doesn’t seem to contain a lot of depth but it smells nice.
I like the subtle smell of Basil in this one because its a note that I’m not familiar with in fragrances but it works in this scent.
This isn’t as spicy as i originally thought it would be considering the name is “Hot Water” but i still enjoy it though.
I think that Davidoff could have stayed more true to the theme of Hot water if there was more heat and less Benzoin making this smell sweet but all around its a good scent for younger guys and men in an older age bracket.
The bottle matches the name more than the scent does.
This doesn’t have very long staying power on my skin but has held up fairly well on my clothes.
It seems to have dried down to a clean mens soap smell.
This would make a perfect scent for a young man just starting out with fragrances IMO
    I bought my bottle for $20.00 🙂

First whiff, lots of spice! after an hour or so it’s sweet and warm! its definitely what i’d call a oriental spicy. Its nothing like cool water and the name suits it perfectly, its completely the opposite! Although vanilla, musk, tabacco, etc are not listed it does smell very masculine. whatever scents they mixed to concoct hot water, seemes to give the warmth and masculinity you’d want from an oriental spice. it smells sexy and exotic and very manly. it doesnt have a huge sillage but if your a sexy man…shouldnt need it right? a woman should smell your scent when she gets close to you, or when you lean over to whisper in her ear… =D it gives her a tease/forward of what her beds going to smell like after sex! if you want something for the ladies, afforadable, attractive bottle, warm and spicy… then this is perfect!
    8/10
tip: use moisturizer/lotion with this and it will last!

Well I’m more in to the classy scents but Davidoff Hot Water is more of a sporty scent but i still like it. I think that it is very nice and i can smell the paprika. I like it so far and i think if you like Davidoff, this is a good one. Well ya…have a good day. 🙂

This is hot indeed. I thought it was pepper, but it is pimento. Smells very spicy and interesting, although a bit too common. The good thing to my taste is that it is not woody and does not actually smell os woods, unlike woody spicy scents. I do find this one much more interesting. It is spicy hotter. Stayng power is quite good.

A simple and warm fragrance, just nice to use for daily wear. Not too strong and the smell is just perfect

Nice smell, hot, spicy. Prefect for night. But longevity is really poor.

    I think it’s pretty bad.
Smells nice when you spray it, but lasts for all of 10 minutes on my body personally.. Poor if not horrible longevity.
    Would not buy again.

I think i smell a lighter version of 1Million by Paco Rabanne in the middle note of this cologne.

My wife liked the sample smell of this fragrance at the shop, so i bought it. I used it today, and I must say it smelled really good on me. It is a spicy fragrance, and it lasted more than 8 hours on me. I think its best to use on cool/cold days, when its raining or in winter or at night. Not when its hot outside, or for hot sunny days. Its a masculine fragrance and i love it! 😀

don’t ever never make my mistake,by purchasing any, really any perfume depending on the initial impression of it. That what happened to me one day,I went to the store to buy a perfume for nights out, I sampled three : Dolce & Gabbana the one, Twin by Azzaro, and unfortunately;this one, really I was impressed by Hot Water, the other two was very good especially D&G, but finally I decided to pick the Hot Water ( I already owned the Cool Water, and I said to my self:What a marvelous collection if I had Cool and Hot at the same wardrobe).
I returned to home, and I sniff it again, nothing change,I’m still impressed. Next night, I put that on me and went out with friends, after less than 10 min of application, the smell turned in a disgusting scent that I cannot stand it , pepper and paprika, reminded me of the smell of Lays chips bag when you open it, thanks God the projection is not loud, and doesn’t remain for more than half hour in best case
Unusual for my perfumes, the bottle has been stored in my wardrobe since 2 years ago, neither I can use it,nor I can give it for anyone as a gift

This is an amazing fragrance and way better than the overrated Cool Water. It has a candy kind of smell but with a lot of spicyness. I wish I had it, but it was sold out at the store I went to.
