The oud in this is quite subtle, not the barnyard kind of oud, but more woody and even slightly waxy. I get a honey-esque smell which is nice but the overall scent is quite vague to my nose, i also detect some cinnamon. projection was not beast on my skin but decent.
mikhlyudkin – :
Between Montale Honey Aoud and Mancera Aoud Vanille which of the following is worth a blind buy and is beastly and well crafted of the two…
Your assisted will be appreciated..
Thanks alot Godking for the previous advice.
BledHound – :
Lovely scent if you can control the sprays. One spray is enough. Lasts forever and projects like a beast.
tip_zver – :
Rich, complex, on me it brings out, besides warm honey and spicy milk in a shady woody glen, little hints of incense (very fleeting and not consistently), and at moments my nose insists it smells cardamom.
The flowers of this divine composition are secondary, as in, I will smell them on my fingers if I touched a spot where I sprayed, but not in the perfume itself.
The Aoud remains present but discreet, just the way I like it.
Can you tell I’m in love?
JeeZy – :
I’ve owned this for almost a year now, and the bottom line is, if you love 18.21 Sweet Tobacco Spirits, Pure Havane and Back to Black (By Kilian)… then you will also love this one. All of these share a strikingly similar vein, but each have their own personality twist. In the case of this fragrance, it is extremely similar to the ones I mentioned, but with a decent dose of Aoud and less tobacco.
Powdery sweet, honeyed vanilla, and Aoud woodiness is how I describe Honey Aoud. This stuff has nuclear longevity and projection in any climate with just 1-2 sprays (would not suggest going past one spray in most occasions… unless you are clubbing or going to be outdoors 99% of the time).
Also don’t misunderstand me when I say there is similar fragrances to this… as I own full bottles of all but one that I mentioned (I don’t own Back to Black, but I do have a sample) yet I love wearing all the ones I own at different times during different instances in the year. They are quite similar (backbone), but not identical. Much in the same way that most A*Men flankers are very similar… but not identical.
Dirk Pitt – :
Today wore Honey Aoud for the first time after getting it. A nice safe fragrance. Honey and oud notes sometimes slight amber which are prominent to my nose are well blended. First I thought this will smell very gourmand but to my surprise Honey is well mixed with Oud note that it turns out be very nice. As usual , as Montale is known for their quality juices good longevity 7+ hours on me,,but the projection is only at elbow’s length. Sillage is also softer. So this is not as overpowering as other montales that I have. The other notes are neutral to my nose. IMO it is a nice cozy frag & quite versatile too.
vasadik – :
When it comes to projection and silage which one is better Honey Aoud by Montale or Red Tobacco by Mancera
IngewsNululge – :
Another goody from Montale… good staying power but just slightly lacks projection at least by my standards but certainly competes with if not tops 18.21 man made and pure havane in my opinion.
Nice sweat honey note layered well into a masculine signature montale aoud/tobacco note.
Certainly one of the better fragrances from the house.
dimacik82 – :
Save yourself some dosh and try this instead of Oajan and ambre narguile if you want niche. This smells just as good, if not better and lasts 10x as long in every category. The oud in this is just of a regular woody variety and fits in perfectly in the background without stealing any limelight. I’d wouldn’t even know it’s there if it wasn’t for he name and notes listed. Perfect amount of florals as well. Mostly honey and cinnamon but the other sweeter notes stops it from being a bee hive and full on assualt of pure honey.
Mezxe651InsuffBooni – :
I’m neither a big oud fan, nor do I really love honey in fragrances. Both are hit or miss notes for me. But I do like Montale Honey Aoud, something about the combination of these notes is just right.
This is a very intense and sweet fragrance. The main attraction is the contrast of dripping syrupy honey and dry, medicinal oud on a warm oriental amber base. It has something boozy, especially in the tope notes, that makes me think of a fine liquor ripened in a wooden barrel. I also get the cinnamon, especially in the base, and a slight hint of the floral notes.
To me, this is a grown-up gourmand with oud. A wintertime fragrance, maybe more suited for evening wear. I could imagine it on any gender, you just have to like some sweetness. This fragrance lasts basically forever, especially when it rubs from your skin to your clothes.
atrichev – :
I must say, I was not sure what to think of this one at first. When you first spray it, you do get the medicinal oud, like cough syrup almost. Once that fades, about 30 minutes later, this smells very good. It is sweet, spicy with a slight oud. I would give the smell a 7 out of 10, after the first 30 minutes that is.
It lasts a very long time and projects very well. I would say 4-6 hrs of projection and 12 + hours of longevity.
If you can find this for around $100-$120 it is a great buy. Not a safe blind buy, I don’t think, even though I bought it blind lol. It won’t be for everyone, but give it a chance to dry down before judging it.
Solid 8.5 out of 10 from me. The longevity and projection gives it some major points.

The beast! The best fragrance in all Montale’s fragrance list! Love it
ashas – :
I’m having trouble getting past my first impression that this smells like aromatic pipe tobacco! Not really a plus for me.
Katerina_tvoe – :
Wow!! This fragrance is very powerful and sweet! I like the cinnamon here,it brings me back in the cold days of winter. It expresses warmth and even tenderness… how to be wrapped in a warm and soft blanket near the fireplace. It is very dense and the sillage is enormous (typical of Montale perfumes) longevity lasts for a long time. I like very much!!
Sillage: 10./10
Longevity: 10./10
Scent: 8./10
Overall: 8.5/10
polosa – :
Wow, this is intense! The unsprayed bottle alone can scent a room, no joke! It’s thick, rich and sweet, however there’s a sharp, menthol like coldness that disturbs that sweet warmth- almost sterilizes it with an alchohol fume sensation. That coldness makes it feel a bit more masculine to me. Up close it’s too much (I’m actually getting a headache from it), but the wake you leave is divine. I think this fragrance is a bit like an impressionist painting- it’s to be enjoyed from a distance. As I wear perfume for myself, this may take some experimentation in application before I can find a way to enjoy this completely. It was a blind buy at a deep discount which I don’t regret yet- I hope I can find a way to wear it that works for me because there are certain facets of this fragrance that I find unique and gorgeous.
Update: I found the way to enjoy this fragrance- I gave it to my husband. Now I get to bask in that glorious trail without smelling the vaporub note, which, as I suspected, totally works with a man. Absolutely sexy, glorious and perfect! He loves it too, so that was another blind buy win (just not in the way I had expected!).
OdoTeophofe – :
Pretty simple and linear honey and aoud, but with nuclear strength. It’s nice, but seriously potent stuff that will last into the next morning. One spray (30 min before you head out) is probably enough with this one, or you might choke someone out.
koks1979 – :
Defenitly rose in this stunning perfume
Mia_fromAF – :
This sounds AMAZING!!!!
Lietethilmcem – :
Pulpy, mealy, damp woods saturated with sweet rain, herbal patchouli and musky florals. Ambrosial honey, taking the bitter aspects and earthy tobacco-like sweetness of this nectar offer a rustic bronzed aura to this fragrance.
I can smell why Honey Aoud receives raves. It’s sweet but textured and balanced with gritty wood and spice, deep and seductive yet not so complex as to be confusing or challenging. Oddly it reminds me of a better version of JS Fancy Nights — yes, patchouli but a drier, more natural rendition.
Great stuff for a woody gourmand! This is easy to love and an approachable oud fragrance.
sagir – :
The aroma this puts in the air………
Let’s just focus on that alone first of all….. WOW!
The sweetness of honey…. over the woody oud background… such an amazing scent.
That aroma in the air tho!!!!!!!!!
njybr – :
Possibly the best honey themed fragrance of all time! And very complex at that ! Well worth the price tag!
ioaniss – :
I thought this would be a strong dark honey scent to match with the smokiness and spicy notes but actually it’s a pleasant surprise that it’s more of a clear light honey! My only comparison scent wise is Tokyo Milk’s Honey and the Moon (which is a dark honey BLAST, like buckwheat honey or something almost bitter-metallic) but the honey component of this is one you want to keep going back to sniffing! If you’ve tried rhododendron honey, that’s what this honey reminds me of most, light and floral and fragrant.
I go on and on about the honey, but the initial impression on me is HUGE aoud, with a delicious cinnamon-honey blend that smells so warm and comforting, for me like the porridge my mom would make with last night’s rice! Then the spice and the aoud die down and on me it’s amber-honey-cinnamon. I feel like it’s what a rich hippie would smell like.
My husband doesn’t really do cologne and on the occasion he does, he goes for fresh water and vetiver type scents. This is definitely doable for men and women, but boy do I wish my husband wore scents like this. Sooooo sexy.
Amoubsmomar – :
I received a decant of Honey Aoud from a good friend earlier in the week. Included in the package alongside Honey Aoud were Montale’s Black Aoud, Dark Aoud, & Dark Purple and Aoud Vanille from Mancera which as we all know was created by Pierre Montale. Of those fragrances, Honey Aoud is by far my favorite!
Scent: I did not enjoy the first minute or two of HA and I had written it off as a dislike when all of a sudden this pleasant warm, sweet, honey, oud, slightly spicy amber like scent began to overtake my nostrils much to my surprise. This is fall in a bottle! Even though apple isn’t listen here, the scent seems to also have this apple spice accord which reminds me heavily of autumn in New England. As other reviewers have stated, the honey blends perfectly with the aoud in this scent. A true gourmand, I cannot describe how beautiful & utterly delicious HA is. Honey Aoud is one of those fragrances were every note meshes together perfectly leaving nothing more to be desired. It is the total package. This fragrance is olfactory ecstasy!
Performance: Honey Aoud is not as much of a performance monster as many of the other Montale offerings such as Black Aoud or Aoud Lime for example but it out-performs most of the niche & designer offerings available today. Honey Aoud projects moderately for 2.5+/- hours and lasts 12+ hours on my skin.
Final Thoughts: Honey Aoud should be a staple in everyone’s fall/winter line up. This is truly autumn in a bottle. By far one of the best cool/cold weather fragrances I have ever come across in the 4 years I have been exploring fragrances. Even if you do not like any other Montale fragrances, give Honey Aoud a try. This is also a great oud scent for folks who are not fans of heavy/pungent oud. While not a clone of any scent, Honey Aoud has a similar vibe to Boss Bottled & YSL L’homme except Honey Aoud is on a much higher level, one in which those scents could never reach. HA is a truly niche fragrance made with quality ingredients that deliver excellent performance AND has mass appeal sure to garner compliments. To my nose, HA is equally suitable for men and women whereas most unisex fragrances lean more towards one sex. Often times fragrances are not worth the price-tag but Honey Aoud is worth every penny. HA is full bottle & full retail worthy. You have not completed your fragrance journey until you have experienced Honey Aoud.
-A masterpiece-

Honey and oud compliment each other so well. This is in the same area as amber sky but so much cheaper, and with better performance, over 12 hours. Very linear, but that isn’t a problem because it’s such a pleasant smell.
Retikops – :
Sweet & spicy floral aoud. Amazing!
The sweet cinnamon spiciness here is similar to that of 24 Gold & 1 Million but the aoud gives it an elegant, exotice, & classy feel.
I love it!
sprech – :
wow this juice blew me away. First spray give me a blast of honey with aoud. I usually got scared when it comes to aoud because its very strong notes. but this one balanced with honey and touch of cinnamon. its not very loud and cloying. As it dries down it becomes more tone more appealing to the nose. It hangs there well balanced. I could easily sprayed this 3 times without offending anyone. And its a crowd pleaser. But it project strong one spray could cover the entire room and last for hours. So far the best one ive tried by montale. what a lovely juice. 10 for me.
yfj171Diobtetty – :
I’m in awe!
This juice is a dream… that lasts and lasts and lasts!
Unexpected frankly, but I believe it to be my favourite Montale at present.
Very balanced composition to my nose, and easy to please.
Bang for your buck guaranteed!

Perfection inside the bottle. Beautiful mix of honey with cinnamon, this is so delicious here that I can not go without smelling my wrist, I really love it, instant passion. Pump like the vast majority of Montale perfumes.
I value this:
Smell: 1000/10
Projection: 10/10
Longevity: 10/10

This fragrance reminds me a lot of L de Lolita Lempicka. I could easily spot the honey, cinnamon and floral notes. Much to my regret I did not notice any agarwood (oud). As a whole I would summarize it as a nice, but not magnificent, and at the same time easy to like and please perfume.
eplan – :
Oh wow! Wormwoody absinthe scent! I wasn’t expecting that, but I have drunk some a couple days ago and the familiarity is clear. I’m surprised to see cinnamon and not anise listed in the notes.
The honey is lovely and sweet but isn’t very literal. My partner thought the oud smelled like camphor, but I understand that’s normal.
After about 20 minutes it’s a lovely warm woody sweet scent with some floral notes. The absinthe is still in the background. I do get some cinnamon in the drydown but it’s a sweet cinnamon and not a hot cinnamon so it’s easy to miss.
This has become my spring signature scent and I figured I should say a bit more about why I love it so much. This spring I wanted something quirky and confident and anything but boring. This is a sillage monster and it’s a scent that I just couldn’t stop thinking about. It’s delicious without channeling any one identifiable food item. It’s complex but never feels muddy.
hrfvnzxmlpi – :
I love this one. I’m still new to the world of Aouds but this one smells amazing. It’s sweet, rich and oriental in all the right ways. The projection is amazing and it lasts for a long time, as other reviewers have pointed out. This one is a gem.

Oud comes through strong as soon as you spray it. However, in about 15 minutes, the honey comes through soooooo lovely!!! I am so glad the temps have dropped, and I can wear my heavier scents! This is AWESOME!
Mencx346Negeltzex – :
This fragrance is more suitable for men. Too strong and cloying for my taste.
I wanted to give it a chance, because I like honey note.
Turns out I can’t give oud another chance, it’s not good.
degama – :
A sweetened, round and quite approachable oud.
Still oud though, so unless one appreciates the oud accord they should stay clear from it.
Neither feminine or masculine, but deep and extra potent. A tiny spray was going after 10 hours.
Unfortunately the honey per se was a bit drowned by the oud, for me personally that is.
kaskelen07 – :
I’ve long-awaited trying this recent release by Montale, and Honey Aoud does not disappoint. The top of it reminds me a lot of Scentstory 24 Gold, a sweet mix of vanilla and amber, but the base of oud gives it some a powerful anchor closer to 24 Gold Oud, but Honey Aoud is really neither 24 Gold nor 24 Gold Oud, but it’s in the same room.
I don’t get a ton of honey, but more so vanilla and amber, so the experience is sweet and resinous in concert with the deeper oud. A modern classic gourmand, in my opinion.
Performance, as expected in Montale fragrances, is very strong in terms of both projection and longevity. A few dabs of a .7ml Luckyscent sample did wonders, so there is great value in it being on the high side of EDP concentration.
Available but sold out on Beautyspin at discounted pricing of $109 for 100ml, it’s mostly available for its standard retail pricing of $170 for 100ml. I’ll definitely be buying a bottle of this at some point. A winner for gourmand fans who like the darkness and depth of oud.

botin.1982 – :
Scent – honeyed cinnamon & agarwood.
Season/Time of Day – I prefer to use this one in the colder months, day or night.
Projection – I didn’t get noticed, I didn’t get a compliment.
Longevity – I get 12hrs consistently.
aleksus 777 – :
I assume people are fascinated with the brand, because this smells just straight perfume-y.
I cannot distinguish any particular note. It just smells like perfume.
Not full bottle worthy.
Edit: A week later and I’m still testing. It has gotten a bit better. It’s that first minute that smells of just fragrance. No particular note. Just perfume. After a few hours, cinnamon comes thru but, I don’t smell honey. It has good sillage and longevity. I still do not think this is full bottle worthy.
OmonRa0140 – :
The dry down of this really reminds me of Amouage Jubilation for for men.
edit – I can still smell this on my shirt after it went through the wash. Incredible.
grifin – :
Honey and spice, and everything nice! I’m surprised how spicy this jewel is. I’d expected a more simple, honey sweet vanilla milkshake but it is certainly nothing of the kind. What I do get is a certain Ambre Narguile meets L Lolita Lempicka vibe mainly due to the cinnamon and vanilla. The main difference is the fabulous longevity of Honey Aoud. This sweetie is humming along from morning to night. From spice heaven to the soft vanilla in the late drydown. The only problem I have with Montale is that this house make every other perfume weak och short-lived.
simplepoker – :
This time the name is fully justified as liquid honey is the first dominant note stiking my nostrills at the begining. Presented in a tasty (not too animalistic or dirty) way makes my mouth salivating and reminds me of Winnie-the-Pooh and his legendary appetite, and somehow, I, too, am suddenly feeling like treating myself to something delicious. Not only does honey instigate hunger, but it literally tempts to gluttony with the lovely addition of warm and rich, almost balsamic cinnamon. Contrary to most Montale’s ouds, this one is warm, sweet, mellow and soft. HA is not a typical gourmand, as it presents familiar Montale’s “pink flowers” I am not fond of (they spoil everything in Intense Cafe, for instance), yet here they are diminished and simply know their place. What gives a special character is a marvelous rubbery and vanillic feel of leather accord – slightly reminiscient of that in Midnight in Paris and Bvlgari Black – that rests on a dry ambery-woody base. The scent is cozy, heart-warming and shielding like a soft plush blanket on a cold rainy day, yet it maintains some spicy charisma within, thus winning my heart. Nice semi-gourmand for autumn and winter or all-year-round mood uplifter. Decent sillage and good longevity, so moderation is the key while applying. Montale seems to be back on the right track, IMHO.
Авдей Милый – :
This one is very nice… one of the better recent releases by the house of Montale… sampling is a must before you commit to a full bottle as some of these Montales are not for everyone.
aleksey-45 – :
I was really looking forward to trying Honey Aoud, but this one is letting me down as we speak. I thought it would be warm, syrupy and intruigingly woody – but it is more of a slightly sour resinous and balsamic scent with a strange cold herbal-esque feel. It doesn’t smell like eucalyptus, but it has that same vibe (that cold herbal thing going on)- it might be the cinnamon. The scent is of course woody, but not in the way I anticipated. Not a new favourite of mine. It just doesn’t appeal to me. I’m thankful I only got a 20 ml bottle of it.
UPDATE: It is in the dry down, three – four hours after spraying it on, that the scent becomes what I thought it would be from the beginning: Warm, sweet and appealing. To long a wait I’m afraid.
