Think of this scent as clean and non offensive. This would be an office scent and something to wear during a beautiful spring day. In a strange way I feel like if you mixed a gain laundry static sheet and some baby powder this would be the cologne. It’s fresh but not in a soapy way. It’s slightly above average but it’s nothing special. I got this one as a blind buy for $19 bucks for a 100Ml. You could do a lot worse.

This fragrance evokes the feeling That you are a monk doing his daily meditation in the middle of a bamboo forest in China by a stream, the water gently flowing and surrounded by a meadow of jasmine flowers.
It’s a very peaceful and serene fragrance. Somewhat resembling a floral bar of soap with a slightly woody undertone. This fragrance isn’t sweet. It is green and floral to its core. It leans somewhat feminine to my nose, but not so much that men cannot wear it, personally, I love it.
    Scent- 8
Longevity- 6 (about 6 hours on me)
Projection- 5 (arm’s length for the first hour)
Quality to Price Ratio- 8 (this can be found for around 15 USD)
Presentation- 8(The raindrop bottle is pretty cool)
    Overall- 7
A great scent if you are on a budget or need a fragrance for after gym showers. Nothing totally original here, but nothing super generic either. A rather nice offering from a rather unknown brand.
Worth a blind buy? Yes, if you don’t like it then you could always spray your bed or a neighbor you dislike.
Should it be hyped? Nope. Nothing super special.
If this fragrance redundant if I already have some soapy fragrance like Burberry Touch, Mugler Cologne, and Prada L’homme? Yep, don’t get this if you already have some nice soapy fragrances in your collection, unless you just want a slightly different vibe.
Will this fragrance garner me compliments? Yes, it probably will. People tend to love clean people
Will this fragrance transform me into a monk? No, I am afraid not. You can always watch Mulan while wearing it…If that’s your thing.

I recently gave this to my father, he really needed to expand his scent wardrobe and I felt this would be a nice clean fresh cologne for him. It is definitely fresh and clean with a nice woody undertones. For the price point it is a good quality, something most people would find pleasant and not overpowering. Dad usually wears it to church or when he has an appointment and of course when he goes to donate blood products, where he likes to flirt a little with the ladies at the blood bank. I would definitely recommend this it has reasonable sillage and longevity is about 5-7 hours.

I found a bottle for cheap, and based on the notes,it seemed like a fresh, not sweet option for summer.I like some men’s fragrances in summer as generally the are not sweet and don’t have florals that can go strange in high humidity.
Although it is fresh, and not sweet ~I get far more wood notes than I was looking for. So this bottle will make its way to my husband’s side of the vanity.
I have a number of Alfred Sung fragrances and really enjoy them all. They are well crafted, especially for the price, and distinctive. Not this one.
It is fresh, lasts well enough, but I cannot say it is distinctive or even that interesting. Too generic.
For this reason, its a pass for me.

I have had this one in my collection for a long time and never gave it a real test. It was so cheap when I blind bought it at a discount store that I’ve only sampled it and never worn it for a full day. What a pleasant surprise. It lasts longer than I would have guessed for such a fresh scent, and the dry-down is more natural and clean than the vast majority of more popular (and expensive) scents I own. This was particularly surprising because the middle notes are slightly synthetic and sour to my nose. I can’t wait to wear it again in warmer weather.

This is a pretty clean and watery fragrance perfect for casual or work use. Opens with a fresh accord, not really citrusy, but a bit flowery. Fairly dominant lavender/musk drydown gives this otherwise weak fragrance a bit of body and heft. Longevity and sillage are on the average side, in my opinion. Actually lasts a pretty decent amount of time for a fresh fragrance. Although definitely on the generic side, I have grown to appreciate Hei as an inoffensive yet very pleasant essence that is a pleasure to wear. If you just want to smell “nice,” you definitely can’t go wrong with this stuff.

Yup, Irish Spring Soap. That is what this makes me think of. This is very sharp to my nose. I like soapy and clean scents, but this one is knocking it way out of the park, into the next town over. But then, I have a cold right now, and when I am sick or under the weather, my sense of smell (weirdly) amplifies. This makes me think of birds dropping out of the air if they smelled this. It is very strong and potent.
TJMaxx had a boatload of these in the women’s section marked dirt cheap, and the box does not say homme or for men or anything. Woops!!! Looks like my young adult nephew is going to get another woopsie blind buy…:/ 🙁
This was/is dirt cheap, and really, it is not bad at all. Just way too sharp to my nose. And my guy has “enough” fragrances to keep him/us happy. So this one is getting passed on. Again, not bad, especially for the price point. It is just not for us. I really need to stop with the blind buys, even the cheap ones!!!

  8. :

    3 out of 5

Clean, crisp, fresh and an all around great fragrance for dirt cheap. I actually get a solid 8hrs from 4-5 sprays with about arms length projection for about 3-4hrs. I layer Hei with Shi and agree with @CuddlesHucklebunny “It layers very nicely with Alfred Sung Shi. It becomes a combination of all the best things about both scents”. I highly recommend getting both Hei and Shi for your collection/rotation.

  9. :

This is very clean and very fresh. Almost like Irish Spring soap. I got this as a blind buy and I don’t regret it. I don’t get any of the specific notes on this one, it is definitely green and aquatic and fresh. Like really excellent laundry detergent or hand soap.
I am a woman, I think that this would work for a man or a woman.
It layers very nicely with Alfred Sung Shi. It becomes a combination of all the best things about both scents.
It lasts a decent amount of time on my skin, around 4 hours. I always need to spray more on myself when I wear it because I want to smell it. I love this stuff so much.

This one deserves some merits in terms of scent composition and balance. It has reasonable performance. However it is too floral and powdery to be considered a men fragrance… my wife loved it, so I gave it to her… but it is not for me.

  11. :

Hei is a nice, clean scent. Though not one of my favorites, I do get good use out of it.
The opening is very powerful and can be headache inducing depending on how trigger happy you are. The projection and scent will only last about 15 min before it settles down, closer to the skin, and gives of a clean, soapy, slightly woody scent. It smells like you are fresh out of the shower; a good thing for people who don’t like frags. This stays for a few hours then, and is nice. It certainly doesn’t have great performance, but for its role it does just fine.
Scent: 6.5/10 (literally soapy, wet bamboo)
    Longevity: 5/10
Sillage:4/10 post drydown (but that’s all it needs)
    Price:9/10
Should you buy? Yes! It’s a good “I don’t know what to wear today” frag, and is great in the summer.

Beautiful, clean, glistening raindrop smell. Starts a little woody-citrus sharp like the crack of a summer thunderstorm, then mellows into a sweet rain scent with some minty aromatic herbs and jasmine floating on a slightly powdery breeze.
Clean, gentle masculine but also easily unisex if a female enjoys a woodier, clean vibe. The tonka and flowers keep it sweet enough. Hei is just an amazing smell. Gone from skin after 4 hrs. But lingers on clothes for 6. This is all about the warmer season to me. Refreshes the senses and gives off a fresh and calming vibe.
This reminds me of my husband’s Tommy Bahama Very Cool, but without the persistent woods note that gives it a more masculine association. But very close in a fresh and breezy way.
Others have said it well: this fragrance is fantastic- anyone can wear it. Classy aquatic freshy done right!

Seems like a concession of Hei has found its way to the discount store fragrance shelves. Like others, I found mine at Marshall’s. The low price, combined with decent reviews, made it an easy blind buy purchase.
Longevity is its weakest quality. But that lack of longevity makes for a good scent when you can’t commit to carrying a certain fragrance on you all day. Sung Hei is a nice Saturday-morning-errands scent. Also extremely safe for work, or in the evening after a shower. When I spray it on my wife says, “You smell fresh.”
    I’ll take that.

This was a grat blind buy. I picked it up at Ross for $7.99, and a fragrance at that price doesn’t get much better than this. My first impression was a downer, as I sprayed the air and smelled the atomizer first. I was greeted by a synthetic and pungent disaster, and thought this blind buy was going to be a flop.
Then I sprayed the back of my hand with two spritzes. The atomizer worked well and produced a fine mist with good coverage. The opening of this scent is very aquatic and green, like a lighter version of one of my favorite frags, Davidoff’s Cool Water. This Cool Water-esque scent dies down over about 10-30 min time frame as the aqua is partially replaced by light citrus and white floral notes, and the light, green, woodiness of bamboo sets in. The drydow produces a very fresh, clean, sharp bamboo-citrus-floral scent that is slightly powdery and soapy. Very good drydown in my opinion.
Performance is OK, but if price is taken into account it is excellent. I find that I get a decent sillage and trail for 1-2 hours, before it calms down to somewhere between a skin and personal scent, projecting about 1 ft-6 inches for about 4-5 hours.
Overall, I give this fragrance a strong 7/10. The price is fantastic, the scent is great and strengthens in the drydown, and the performance is ok. Great for everyday wear/work scent.

I’ll keep this short and sweet.
Hei by Alfred Sung is by far, the BEST blind purchase fragrance that I have ever owned for UNDER $10!!! Don’t let the designer and unpopularity of the brand fool you! This a very inoffensive, aquatic scent that turns into a clean, powdery, lightly soapy scent. I was so impressed by it, that I even purchased a “back up” bottle for myself, and gifted a bottle to my younger brother. Perfect for any occasion (office, home, school, gym)…Do yourself a favor and add this to your collection. A risk well worth the $6.99 that I took on a 1.7 oz bottle.
The only downside about this scent is the longevity…but honestly, that can be taken care of with a few extra sprays.

  16. :

Found this at a Marshalls for $7.99 so I took a chance … a nice and clean smelling scent that I immediately recognized…. then it hit me… this smells somewhat similar to Jovan Ginseng NRG only better … Again, nice and clean and worth owning, especially at this fantastic price point.

This fragrance was brought to my attention by a fellow YT reviewer. Very good collection staple.
This gives me the vibe of a “sharper and fresher” version of Kiton for Men. I am not saying this is a replacement for Kiton Men, but they have a similar blend with woods, Tonka, citrus, and a VERY noticeable violet note. Solid projection and decent sillage for the price. Definitely worth a stiff. Dirt cheap scent for dumb reaches, signature scent, and all year fragrance.

As I have matured in my fragrance knowledgeable journey, I have come to appreciate this fragrance more than my original post. Yes this is a “in your own zone” fragrance for silage, Alfred Sung captured nature in this raindrop bottle and is letting us release this natural beauty through his creation.

  19. :

    4 out of 5

This is a decent scent for the price but it’s nothing great and it’s pleasant but not original or unique.
This opens up and immediately it reminds me of a greener CK One ! This however is also more transparent and aromatic in the opening.
Once this dries down you get a lot of mint and bamboo and there’s some harsh note that I can’t put my finger on but at this point it smells very similar to Beckhams classic blue. Haha, and then once it completely dries down it smells very similar to Live Jazz by Yves Saint Laurent.
Sidenote: This smells really good in the air but up close it can be a bit harsh.
Performance on this is actually really good on my skin. It lasts 6-8 hours with above average projection.
Overall rating — 6.5 out of 10 ! Decent for the price range but there’s way better things out there in my opinion

A clean, fresh, woody and fruity EDT. Moderate longevity and silage. This is very pleasant. It starts similar to Eternity Summer for Men 2005 by CK. Violet, Mint and bamboo dominate this. I have had a few complements about this already. A lovely one from Sung and an excellent Summer fragrance and a grower.

  21. :

    3 out of 5

Yup. Very fresh and clean. I get a much more “laundry fresh” type of vibe from this scent as opposed to “shower fresh.”
    Nevertheless…
    It smells great.
    Quick story…
I work part time at an Applebees doing the carside to-go four nights a week and whenever someone pays with a credit or debit card I have to stick my hands in their window to hand them a clip board with the slip they have to sign, so on nights I work that job, I always make sure to have at least one full spray of whatever fragrance I’m wearing smack dab in the middle of the top of my hand. And at least twice now that I can think of off the top of my head, customers have looked up at me and told me that I smell amazing. Both of them used that exact word, amazing.
It smells great and honestly, I can’t see the smell of this being anything but pleasant to anyone. It’s THAT inoffensive. A great choice for a work shift fragrance or if you have a picky family member or friend that you’ll be spending time with. This just smells fresh and clean, NOTHING ABOUT IT TO DISLIKE.
Longevity – Pretty impressive for such a soft scent. I get about 6 hours out of it.
Sillage – This, I do wish were a tad better. It only projects well for about 2 hours and then it sits close to skin. (For the insanely low price though, re applying is absolutely no problem.)
    Scent Itself – 9/10
Overall Score – 8/10 (If projection were better, it would be an easy 9.)
Love this one. Alfred Sung makes amazing scents that are just so likeable. Big thumbs up. Safe blind buy as well guys in case you were wondering. It’s the safest of the safe to blind buy actually.

I could never have imagined such a clean, fresh scent could be so enticing. Kharnak and Mindphlux are spot on! This smells like ¨a guy out of the shower¨and ¨summer¨.
A hot young guy fresh out of the shower on a summer vacation, I would add:)
When he steps out, all fresh and smelling like the nice hotel shampoo/body wash, and perhaps those fancy shaving stiff his parents gave him for Christmas, that he brought especially for you….
It lays so well on my skin, and I really do feel the dill (so original) and my beloved cardamom freshness in the dry down. To bad it doesn’t last, but with my travalo and the affordable price, I will be drowning in my 100ml bottle for months to come. (I say this but I’m a bad judge of lasting “power¨and projection. ) If you only want scents to be kept between you and your lover – this is perfect. And, yes – a perfect office scent, I agree.
Bottom line, I’m so happy with this blind buy and I can’t wait to try more Sung fragrances, I’m a fan!
It reminds me a lot of the original Incanto pour homme. Would be perfect as a ¨boyfriend scent¨in the summer, or just to spray on a little something clean and sexy before bed.

Just received this scent, and have tried it on, and im actually not really fussed on it hey. I mean, its nice, but thats all it is – nice.
This is the kind of scent that i smell at my local gym, so therefore, this will be my gym scent! I love the dry down, very bamboo/watery/woody and definitely musky. Screams 100% masculine to me.
Its lasted a while on my skin, and projection is ok, but a few spritz did the job for me nonetheless.
The only thing i really really love about this scent, is the bottle! absolutely beautiful! So simple, yet very elegant. Just a delecate rain droplet of a bottle 🙂
    Scent = 7/10
    Projection = 7/10
    Longevity = 7/10
    Bottle Design = 9/10

    Pros:
    – Very fresh and crisp smelling
    – Great for summer
    – Amazing dry-feeling
    – Subtle but emanating scent, almost impossible to overdo
    – Very affordable for large quantity
    – Received compliments (often rare for cheaper scents)
    Cons:
    – Not very unique
    – Requires you to re-apply often
Overall I liked this scent a lot. Primarily used it as a home or work cologne as it is nothing that can really bother anybody. As many people said this is great for summer and is good coming out of a shower. It smells like fresh laundry and it also has a unique “dry” feel to it. I wore this on extremely humid days as it felt like it help me feel more dry. It’s a good scent if you are starting out as you can’t really over apply it. Since it’s inexpensive I would recommend it for anybody just looking for a cheap scent to wear for home or work.

Very nice perfume for hot summer. i like Alfred Sung’s perfume and i see all his perfume are accepted by East Asians.Fresh, clean,no offensive or wierd notes.
Hei is inspired by traditonal chinese culture. Close to Nature. Water, plants, and people feel so refreshed.
Green, cool, and the dry down is charming. It remind me of a traditional Chinese intellectual during 1920-1930’s , confucian-elegance.
Longevity is good. More than 6 hours on my skin. Drop on cloth or paper fan, last a month.

Nice to wear on the weekends in the day time. I prefer Sung’s Paradise to this one.
Hei is fleeting. There is one moment of utter beauty and then it’s gone. Literally in seconds.
Sillage in also no were near ok.
It does sit close to the skin for hours though. Keeping you fresh for most of the day.

  28. :

Perfect “fresh out of the shower” scent for a casual day. Not very unique or interesting but smells great and it’s dirt cheap.

  29. :

    5 out of 5

The open reminds me of L’eau D’Issey soapiness. Then too musky for me. There are some sweet water notes toward the end (which comes pretty soon) but the musk makes me sick. I can see why many reviewers listed a high sneeze factor with this one.
The harshness and sneezability of Hei is what made me turn this guy down.

  30. :

    4 out of 5

I like to wear men’s cologne on occasion because I think the scents are longer lasting and the blends appeal to me more than most fruity vanilla sugar fragrances. Perfect little aquatic/fresh gem for if you want to smell good but not obviously like you’re wearing fragrance. Only complaint is that the longevity isn’t that great on me, but it’s relatively inexpensive so I don’t mind having to reapply often
    8/10 for me

  31. :

Reminds me of laundry, kinda smell like Tide on steroids with violet leaf.

  32. :

    4 out of 5

I’ve always felt that rating and judging colognes is a practice in selective language. Where one may damn Hei as weak, another may laud it as subtle. Where one may harp on its unoriginality, another may say it is respectable in its simplicity. Could one interpretation be more correct than the other, or is there an element of truth to both that warrants some compromise from the critical mind? I’d say it’s the latter.
Getting down to brass tacks, I don’t expect an older crowd to be impressed by Hei, and if you have grown accustomed to niche fragrances then you might as well not even bother. For me? Well, perhaps I am doomed to to my lack of sophistication, but I love it. I moved away from it years ago in searching for a stronger alternative, but ironically I have still never been more complimented for my scent than when I was wearing this. Also, I’m not sure if the formula has undergone some minor tweaks, but this fragrance used to be quite sneeze-inducing when it first came out and is no longer that way for my nose at all.
Ultimately, I say Hei has more elegance and flexibility than its simplicity may suggest. Its cheapness and unpopular designer name may make it much-maligned in more well-versed fragrance circles, but its also those qualities (lack of popularity and affordability) that make it a contender for signature scent status–at least in my eyes!

This is a lovely and fresh fragrance that is worth much more than the discounted price it sells for. It may have weak longevity, I am not sure. I have received compliments wearing this great scent.

I’ve had this fragrance since middle school(cuz its cheap) and i Love it, but i don’t love it, i mean i want to love it, but something in it just makes me sneeze whenever i first spray it. It bothers me soooooo much, but i still torture myself everytime i want to smell like it. Gonna be in my wardrobe until i can no longer buy it whether i sneeze to death or not. 7/10 from me, but still freakin awesome.

Very clean, fresh and aquatic. I used to have 4 sprays on both back neck. It projects quite well in the first 1-2 hour, and then begins to dry down and close to skin. I will reapply it and enjoy its fresh and clean smell.
It is certainly weak in longevity, but it is still worth the price coz it is cheap and affordable.
Definitely suitable for daytime in spring and summer. I love it!

Very fresh & little bit spicy, very light & safe fragrance. Nothing unusual. Poor longevity, weak sillage . There is a lot of this kind on the market today. You can find it almost everywere on sale…
Not bad for office use and during hot summer’s mornings 🙂

This is a good little aromatic aquatic fragrance. I just got a lot of green bamboo, cool mint, aquatic accord, and sweet amber, that’s all. No cardamom or strong lavender for sure. It’s an well-balanced and zen-like fragrance. Nice to have but you don’t miss anything if you don’t have it. I think Truth by CK is better in this kind of scent but whatever fits your budget. I use Hei at home or whenever I don’t feel like using the top dogs (expensive ya know…) Recently, I just put this little gem back in its original box and I am ready to give it away. I finally passed it on to my younger brother who also think that this smells like something from Calvin Klein.

A friend turned me on to this cologne and I liked it but after I started building my collection of fragrances, I don’t find it as exciting as once before. It’s clean, fresh and definitely a daytime summer/ spring scent. My name is Mike and I APPROVE this review!

I expected aromatic aquatic not fougere when I first smelled this and looked it up, but after wearing it a few times the true nature is apparent to me. The catalog I ordered the 3 pc giftset from described this as a fresh watery-herbal scent and I guess that is true. It is a slightly watery green herbal with an ever so gentle oriental finish…
The first smell is sharp bergamot and lush bamboo with even greener violet leaf and a subtle mint. All the greens are balanced nicely. As the scent opens more the mint deepens into the dill(fennel?) and cardamom with a slight watery aura. The florals are not prominent but add a slight sweetness to the body which is delightful. Closer to its ultimate finish I detect a hint of jasmine (or maybe neroli). The drydown is very light but still there with the tonka and amber taking a back seat to the clean musk and mahogany. This particular wood is not the dark polished wood of expensive furniture but the light rainforest type of smell. A truly excellent fragrance…
    Sillage: decent
    Longevity: short
    Overall: 3.5/5
Sung has captured the scents of nature quite well with this one but like a fresh breeze carrying scent, it surrounds you; full of life, and then is gone, leaving only a hint of what it was and a beautiful memory and experience. I am very glad I got the set because the shave balm and deodorant keep this around longer than just the spray.
I find nothing in common to CW here. This is fresh water in a green setting with soft florals, and has none of CW’s depth, staying power or heavy woods…

I just bought this one… and I love it. Its a perfect summer fragrance. I also wish that the scent didn’t fade so fast, however that won’t stop me buying and using it.

Hei has a special place in my heart as far as colognes go. The smell is nothing short of amazing. Imagine a perfect paradise and clear blue water, a golden sun and a green island. You can hear birds in the distance and the cool wind breezing through your hair. Thats how Hei smells. I suppose this is a summer scent. The only bad thing is the longevity is below average… That is the real shame because it would literally be the perfect fragrance in my opinion if it lasted longer.

  44. :

I wore this for years and loved it. It really worked well. It was very versatile. Unfortunately, when I ran out and all I had was the aftershave version, my wife was totally turned off by the dill and marine notes and now I can’t even wear the regular fragrance.
If I could find something like this without the dill and with the aquatic notes dialed back, it would be perfect.

I stumbled across this fragrance in a local chemist being sold rather cheaply. I was a little dubious at first, however I wanted to buy my man something so I decided to give it a try.
I find the scent to be very similar to Cool Water by Davidoff, I think it’s because of the lavender note. I consider that a good thing because both my man and I love Cool Water.
Hei is a refreshing, clean and rather sexy scent. I figured that since my boyfriend already had Cool Water I would buy Hei in the deoderant and aftershave balm rather than the fragrance. When he blended and layered the two it was difficult to tell the difference.
Hei is a fabulous fragrance for those warmer months because it is so light and casual. The lasting strength is also wonderful.
I don’t regret buying Hei products for my boyfriend, yet sometimes I wish that women weren’t so attracted to the scent. He certainly receives many compliments and interested women when he wears this fragrance.

  46. :

Lasting power is not the best, but oh it smells SO good when it’s on. It has a cool water likeness to it, but it is less aquatic on my man. He likes the fresher fragrances and this one suits him well, the base notes don’t have a lot of time to develop because it’s not a very long lasting scent. I do however get a touch of amber and tonka bean which I love while its there. I constantly am taking a whiff of it. I prefer the lighter scents on him anyway because he chemistry makes scents TOO heavy so the lightness is good in his situation. If you can’t wear light scents then don’t go for this one, unless you are looking for an office scent in that case this would work fine because it’s not offensive at all.

Very Powdery. It’s fresh, but I’ve smelled better. I was pointed to this by a women who said her man is always asked what he wears…. nobody asked me that, probably because it’s nothing special
