At first it smells like fresh citrus. Then it disappears into a skin scent of a guy with a short man’s inferiority syndrome who wears this to smell more manly. I’m quite tall and this doesn’t fit me.

Fresh, clean, not nearly as louche as other Tom Ford frags (which are often cross the line from merely decadent to somewhat disgusting). Strong vetiver, but not sharp or excessively grassy.

Woody – icy spicy – earthy
    Color impression: dazzling light gray
A descendant of Guerlain’s chartbuster – Vetiver – without showing up facial similarities. A development in Guerlain’s composition with replacing its damp tobacco with an icy crispy facet. It’s simplistic, straightforward, compliment-optimizing and versatile. A handy vetiver for all occasions.

This has been a weird experience. I fell in love with it right after the first blast but after a while something started to bug me, something very scratchy and too dry started to turn my stomach so i had no other choice than to stay off of it.

It smells good and very mature, but it doesn’t suit me, even in an office environment with suit and tie. I don’t like it on me, but would like it as an unoffensive scent trail on someone else. I tried it though and still have some. Maybe when I’m a decade older, it might suit me.

I agree the presentation for this fragrance sucks but so does Vetiver. I just can’t stomach it. The earthiness repulses me. I do recognize it’s a good fragrance though.
If you’d like to smell the same for $25 I would strongly recommend you purchase Bvlgari soir. It’s also quality. Trust me.

This fragrance gives you positive vibes. it’s a fresh clean and sexy fragrance. Imagine an underwear model that just came out of shower after a session at the gym. (well, at least that’s how I feel when I’m wearing this. LOLOLOL…).

the biggest prob i have with this is that i don’t really think i can wear this every day casually if i’m being frank. It smells like it’ll be a good office scent for sure maybe even for a business casual environment this is prolly best. It’s very Earthy but it’s Citrusy and Airy as well
For the price and purpose I just don’t think this is that great, I can wear a designer fragrance that is citrusy fresh and accomplish the same thing.
However if I wanted to be different / stand out from “the other guys” then I think that’s where this fragrance really appeals to. Personally I don’t care if something is niche or not and I swap fragrances out quite often tbh so this could be in my rotation.
This is a great fresh/earthy scent for a Man who is Business Casual/Formal and wants to be a little different than the BdC’s and the Aventus/Elysium crowd, this is just a little further from those imo in terms of unique complexity.
I don’t think this is blind buy worthy, I don’t think it’s a fragrance for everyone and I don’t think it’s quite as great as ppl may have made this out to be BUT it for sure isn’t bad and it definitely has a place in the right mans collection for the right mans profile.
Personally this doesn’t suit me but i’ll prolly wear it when i’m wanting to be a little more unique and different, standard break from the 30 frag rotation

Just purchased a bottle (blind buy) on Amazon after getting a tester from Neiman Marcus and wearing it on my skin. I must say that the dry down is very nice, with great projection (at least 5 hours). I currently don’t have a vetiver juice in my collection, and I plan on wearing this and layering it with Molecule 03 (Vetiveryl Acetate).

The only version available where I bought it was EDP. I actually tried it five years ago, at a time when I was not attracted to vetiver fragrances so I did not purchase. My interest in vetiver began when a salesman managed to make me buy the latest re-issue of the Carven Vetiver. It was a rather pleasing experience. I actually discovered vetiver. When used as a main component it creates fragrances that are often associated with mature men. However, I don’t care about fashion, or looking young. Vetiver in general leaves a very elegant impression, and that’s what counts for me. So I am buying and wearing the main vetivers on the market one by one. And my rating is this so far:
-Carven: very good. Quite modern, but poor longevity.
-Givenchy: a huge deception. Too dark, too bitter. I’m literally suffering through that bottle and mixing with Eau d’orange verte. I can’t wait to finish it and forget about it.
-Serge Lutens Vetiver Oriental: way too feminine but pleasant.
-Guerlain Vetiver: very good but very old fashioned. Buy it if you’re not scared to be called « grandpa ».
-Guerlain Vetiver Extreme: a sharper take on the latter. Brighter maybe. With a very good performance. My favourite so far.
-And now Tom Ford: I’m hesitating if it will get the silver medal or the bronze medal. It’s safe, very elegant. Quite soft and soapy. The Vetiver is not very earthy here. I’m a bit disappointed by the performance of the EDP but it’s ok. I would not give it to an 18 year old but for a guy in his late 20’s it’s fine. It’s quite obvious that this Vetiver was created not so long ago so it does not suffer from the retro conception of some of the others above.
Not stunning but interesting. Now, I’ve got many more to go. What next?

Classy, elegant, masculine, clean, versatile.. What’s more to say? It took me a while to really appreciate this fragrance for what it is, but it’s perfect for an office setting or in class (if you are a student). It performs really well too.

This scent is serious. A sophisticated clean, fresh masculine scent for the casual or business man. This a niche cologne that will get noticed by all, even the designer nose. I get a fresh wet, lemon-neroli-nutmeg-vetiver and oak moss, done perfectly scent. This will turn any head. A late Twenty s (28) on up scent.

    Two words: Sophisticated Swagger.
This fragrance is one for a man who is clean, smooth, dashing, extremely confident, creased and polished, mysteriously quiet-but-observant, peacefully powerful and will scoff at ANYONE who doesn’t believe that he dresses in a phone booth and wears blue and red tights with an “S” on the chest underneath his perfectly tailored black suit.
BEWARE: You’ll probably have several secret admirers who are too nervous or intimidated to approach you when wearing this one. However, they’ll be easy to spot due to all of the blushing.

I have to be like the youngest person ever to like grey vetiver lol. It’s a nice mature scent. Smells great. I don’t think this is going to be one that I put on to attract others and get compliments but one that I wear for me. I think it’ll be one that I wear for interviews to make myself feel more confident and successful. I like it. It’s def a winner, more for the over 30s age range. It’s a very businessy vibe.
    Good work professor Ford.

Def agree with chrisarcarola. I also live in Florida and this is a winner. Little soft but noticeable for sure. Love the smell, crispy crispy I love rockin this with a white dress shirt. I work at a bank and clients on occasion get a whiff and say that smells nice. This ain’t an attention grabber or crazy unique but it says I am a gentleman and know my shit. Good shit Tom Ford 9/10

This is a lukewarm like for me but a like none the less !
In a nutshell this is a pleasant, soapy, mature but not old mannish, soapy smell that’s a very nice mix of clean vetiver and grapefruit that’s perfect for the office as it’s pleasant and not cloying or loud.
Performance on this is great as it lasts 6-10 hours and this doesn’t project loudly but is noticeable for the duration of the scent life.
Reasons this doesn’t get a perfect score is because yes it’s a very pleasant scent that lasts but I have many soapy scents that do the same thing but better. (Pretty much any Prada fragrance) but for a lot less money.
It’s also a bit boring after a while to my nose.
Overall rating—6.75 out of 10 ! Decent scent but I can get better scents for less

Cold, very professional and modern (almost futuristic). This fragrance perfectly captures todays metropolitan lifestyle, which is often without emotions, focusing more on technology. I can easily imagine this on engineers and technical experts.
Together with Terre, one of the best vetivers out there.

This should be a staple in everyman’s collection. TF doesn’t hold the vetiver back in this one. It’s extremely tough in SW Florida weather to find anything that’s “cool” feeling and has staying power but this fits the bill. Definitely green and earthy but as I said earlier it feels “cool” on my skin. A definite winner and a must try.

  20. :

This fragrance puts the vetiver front and center but gives it a completely new identity. A masterful recipe, the scent is perpetually intriguing and addicting. A very original scent, it is refined but not extreme, something you can safely wear to the office without attacking everyone around you, yet confident and debonair enough to wear for a night out. It is also supremely long-lasting, one spray goes all day.

This is one of TFs best, Top 5. I never been a fan of his line, but this one is one of the few, Its Very clean/fresh, masculine, and distinguished. It will get noticed from the mature audience for sure, compliments, and some of the younger ones.

Smells good. I liked smelling it on my husband. You should be able to enjoy wearing this cologne as it is easy on the nose. Some may love it some may not but everyone will at least like it.
Very good for work. You will please your female co-workers with this one(or male whatever you´re into anyway).

  24. :

Start with a blast of citrus with some effervescent tablets scent (yeah not kidding) but it is awesome…..very sophisticated gem. I wouldn’t say it’s unique… it is a calm, manly creation, and somehow it feels luxurious. Oakmoss gives a Dior Eau Sauvage vibe to it (which I loooove), if you compare the two…this is more youthful but – like most vetivers – still wearable with dignity only over 30 I think. Great stuff, if you like vetiver it worth a blind buy.

Wow… This is a beautiful yet sophisticated scent. I thought it would be sweet and calm as I see the bottle shape.
It’s a bold, fresh, beautiful and powerful perfume.
And a very loyal perfume for office and any occasion since now.
    I love TF Grey vetiver

My Signature Scent this summer at the office. Sophistication in a bottle. Who would NOT like the way this smells? Some may not LOVE it as I do, but it’s so inoffensive, classy, mature, and the best Vetiver fragrance I’ve ever smelled. Better than Creed’s Vetiver by a long shot. Lasts 6-8 hours on my skin an sometimes longer. If you’re looking for a signature or office scent that smells great, rich, sophisticated, and will get compliments as well, you can’t go wrong with this one!!

  28. :

    3 out of 5

Perfect! … would be the most correct word to speak of this fragrance, in my collection of fragrances with a vetiver note is simply number one!
It can be a classic and modern at the same time, as I said simply perfect !!!

  29. :

    5 out of 5

Thin, uninteresting vetiver. This edp lacks the citrus of the edp. This also has the same ‘peanut brittle’ note that can be found in Citron Noir by Hermes.

  30. :

    5 out of 5

Grey Vetiver is the definition of the polished modern man. Opens fresh and sophisticated, and as it dries down, just enough warmth emerges to be alluring. Modern classic.

  31. :

    3 out of 5

Beautiful fresh frag. Makes you feel like a gentleman. Very classy.

  32. :

    4 out of 5

This is definitely a fragrance for the distinguished gentleman.
At once both classy and casual, modern and classic, Grey vetiver should be, as others have said, in every man’s collection.
For me, it starts with a blast of citrus. While grapefruit is the prominent citrus note, the initial vibe I get is akin to Lemon Pledge furniture polish in the best way possible. But even if that doesn’t sit well with you, take heart, as it quickly dissipates and become a clean, manly vetiver with hints of those lingering citrus notes, herbaceous sage, fresh florals (lily of The Valley), and softe woods. This is a perfectly blended, beautiful, elegant, classy men’s fragrance.
I’m not one to jump on the hype train, but every so often something comes along that deserves the hype. Grey Veriver is one of those things. Spectacular!
    Scent: 9/10
    Originality: 8/10
Performance: 7/10 (a little soft at times)

    A classic!

Grey Vetiver will always be on my shelf. Since the first bottle I owned… It is so invigorating ,green fresh , surprisingly clean scent, yet the earthiness of vetiver makes it all move away from just that.
It is simplistic in design but the blending and note composition holds my attention for a moment every time I spray it on in the morning.
It takes my mind to a certain state/place in those fleeting moments I get the whiffs of it during the day.
It is more of a casual/formal vibe scent, luminescent light ,dirtied up by vetivers earthy connection, with soapy/ clean background.
Grey Vetiver will always be on my shelf

  36. :

    3 out of 5

To me, vetiver and grapefruit are the two main ingredients together to define how masculine a men’s fragrance is. And I have a mixed feeling for them: can’t live with (when too strong), and also at the same time, can’t live without (when lack of) 🙂
I always prefer those two notes not to be dominant in any men’s fragrance. My personal favorite one for this season, with much less vetiver, compared to this one, is Narciso Rodriguez For Him Bleu Noir EDT. My second favorite is Bvlgari Man Extreme. Tom Ford Grey Vetiver does not work out for me unfortunately, by the massive quantity of vetiver and grapefruit in it. However, I can’t deny the quality of this composition.
Grey Vetiver is purely just a traditionally strong, solid, clean as “cut and dry”, masculine fragrance for very mature men, as they usually say:”Hey, no bull sh*t” 🙂 This is the one that will earn you respect. I can imagine the favorite drinks of guys who wear this parfum: only hard liquors with fine quality… 🙂 Well, you got it, boss! Cheers!

  37. :

    3 out of 5

This is a nice fragrance. It is a very clean and refreshing take on vetiver. Very classy, very formal, super masculine, not playful in any way whatsoever. It smells modern and old school at the same time. Perfect for the office or formal events but I don’t think there is anything romantic or sexy about Grey Vetiver. It is very linear and no frills and I think a lot of people will love that about it. It’s not pretending to be anything that it isn’t which is definitely nice. To me this is a definitely a fragrance for a mature man. Someone who wants to be taken seriously.
I can definitely respect this fragrance but it just doesn’t really suit me and I feel that it comes off as a bit cold and sterile. It’s almost too clean smelling to me. Overall it’s quite good and the quality is very evident but to me it lacks personality and emotion.
Another thing worth mentioning is that while not completely similar to Grey Vetiver, Lalique Encre Noire Sport is an excellent more youthful take on a fresh vetiver fragrance. I actually strongly prefer it over Grey Vetiver. I wouldn’t consider it to be an alternative to Grey Vetiver but people who enjoy this type of fragrance should check it out as well if they haven’t already.

  38. :

    3 out of 5

In all honesty, this is a outstanding fragrance and better than many other vetiver offerings out there, but this is niche IMO and going to fit a certain person.
I get a very Formal fragrance that is certainly best for the mature and established business man, who is the serious type.
For me personally I think this is a 40 plus fragrance, where Dunhill Icon Edp has more character, and terre d’hermes eau tres Fraiche is younger and more citrusy.
This does smell of quality and had fair projection and 6 hours longevity on me.
Ultimately, I like that this fragrance is daring in it’s own way and fits a personality or style. I would rather have more fragrance like this than cookie cutter ones and the quality is here.

Grey Vetiver by @tomford is a winner, it’s a fragrance all men should own. This is the one for a gentleman. It neither screams, nor shout, but makes it’s presence known. This tells people you got your “game” together and you are confident. Obviously I’m in love with this little gem.
Tom Ford Grey Vetiver EDP is a vetiver based scent released in 2009; it’s accompanied with grapefruits, oakmoss and some woodsy notes. This is nothing short of fantastic. I can say without a doubt that this is one of the best vetiver fragrances in the world. It’s got an average longevity, better in spring and fall but could work all year long. Amazing is an understatement. Try it if you haven’t and thank me later…

  40. :

    5 out of 5

I’m not the biggest fan of this and wouldn’t buy it at this present moment but I can pay my respects. Vetiver isn’t a note I enjoy either in particular but the perfect amount of citruses in This help balance it out. The other underrated note of nutmeg helps keep this nice and smooth and supports the woody vibes it got quite well. This to me smells professional, clean and charming. Not a great deal of character but just enough to slap you in the face when life distracts you. Craps all over L’Homme and a real mans man fragrance.

  41. :

    5 out of 5

A classy, medicinal and traditional vetiver. Masculine and likable (a surefire gift) if not that interesting. Good enough to own, but it’s never the first, second or third thing I think of wearing.

  42. :

    3 out of 5

Modern, professional-smelling grapefruit with plasticky fresh vetiver accord. This smells like great-smelling citric plastic, but oddly that smells pretty good. The vetiver here is also extremely muted and barely there; the whole thing gives me a vibe of a young modern professional; DEFINES ‘workplace scent’. The plastic note makes it smell very modern and futuristic. Sillage and longevity are both excellent. I wouldn’t say this is world-shattering, but it is nice. I would love this as a gift but wouldn’t buy it myself.

4 sprays on my chest, couldn’t smell much so added another 3. During the morning I only got the odd faintest whiffs of myself, it wasn’t a cold day either. After lunchtime it took a lot of shirt wafting to get anything.
Don’t get me wrong, the scent itself is amazing, if I only owned a handful of bottles I’d want this to be in it. However I’m going to have to got with 14 sprays tomorrow to try and get a couple of feet’s worth of projection. This turns it from a mid-price to an expensive frag 🙁
A great comrade to Guerlain Vetiver. TF for spring, Guerlain for autumn. Also similar to Fredrick Malle Vetiver Extraordinaire but that is quite a bit better and unfortunately a lot more expensive.

  44. :

    5 out of 5

So many nice comments about this one, tried and it is nice, but longevity is not that good, and it changes into I don’t know…something after an hour. My recommendation if you like this frag GO for Guerlain Vetiver, it smells almost the same, doesen’t change a smell note after an hour, last longer and is simply much better then GV.

Grey Vetiver is a citrus aromatic. The fragrance is based around an aromachemical that is extremely strong. I would almost swear that the vetiver chemical (or something else in the formula) possesses a high pH to some end of the spectrum. Because if you sample this fragrance with a fresh nose—even a single tiny spritz is extremely off-putting and stingy.
If you’re already suffering from a chemical burn of some kind (or maybe from olfactory fatigue), then you’re not likely to notice this. But one should be aware that it’s definitely there, and those around you are likely to experience this exact effect.
I had originally suggested that a rollerball application was possible for this one to keep it from being so overbearing, but I can’t even imagine the trivial amount one need to apply in order to achieve this effect.
To describe the aroma, a fresh nose won’t get any of the finer aromatics in here—just this stingy, burning, intolerable haze.
If your nose is deadened however, then you won’t perceive any of the stinginess (because the receptors that chemical binds to are burned up). Instead you will get more of the citrus and woods, which are almost really nice, with an abrasive sporty freshness to them.
However, in the amount you’ll have to apply at this stage for this essence to project to you, everyone around you is sure to suffer. Strongly recommended to try before you buy, and have someone with a fresh nose at work evaluate it for you being wearing this fragrance in closed quarters.

  47. :

    4 out of 5

This one is a more fresher and cleaner take on vetiver. Out of all of the heavier vetiver fragrances that I’ve smelt (ex: Encre Noire, Vetiver Extraordinaire, etc), Grey Vetiver is a more safer and pleasing scent out of them all. It would be very difficult to offend anyone around you with this scent. Well done Tom Ford!

Grey Vetiver EDP smelt like some sort of insect repellent. This was a blind buy for me. When I sprayed it on my skin, and retains a slight scent of insect repellent throughout it’s life-cyle! I cannot explain why, insect repellent is the scent that comes to mind. But I guessing it’s the vetiver that creates the insect repellent scent.
But boy, Grey Vetiver EDP smells quite nice! Albeit, this cologne isn’t anything amazing, or a must have in my opinion. The scent I get smells unusual but is oddly pleasantly, soft, sparkling, masculine, and sensual.
Definitely get your nose on the EDP version, if you haven’t smelled this cologne yet! Grey Vetiver EDP is a multi-purpose, simple, and easy to wear cologne.
    Overall: 6.5/10

Grey Vetiver EDP is great on its day; I purchased the EDT and EDP together and the EDT had been winning my affections for the much fruitier opens, but now EDP has over taken, fresh clean sexy money and good performance.

  50. :

    5 out of 5

Grey Vetiver EDP, which was supposed to be in the Private Blend before Tom Ford changed his mind, lives up to its name and is all about vetiver to me along with a silver, metallic feel to it. It emphasizes basically all of the features of what is my favorite note in fragrances: Its rooty, raw and to me, masculine side. Its green and sharp appeal as well just like it also brings in the paradoxal clean, soapy semi-fresh elements too.
The other perceptible notes to my nose are there mostly to make the various angles of the dominant woody note stand out even more. Yellow grapefruit and light sage, which is bitter/dry herbaceous like, help with the sharp, earthy and green part. Nutmeg and/or pimento, like in Xeryus Rouge by Givenchy, lift the “spiky” quality of this fragrance and give warmth after the cold opening.
It’s the heir of the great Guerlain classic: Vetiver. Younger in feeling without a leather and tobacco base, more transparent and easier to enjoy in a more casual way, yet clearly in the same style. It’s grown-up and serious. This is the quintessential young, driven business man’s scent and my personal number one office choice. It awakes the professional alpha lion in me.

Pay nearly £100 for a fragrance? When there are so many great value ones out there? Jaipur, Boucheron Pour Homme, Mont Blanc Individuel. Not me says I.
I was casually walking around a department store and had an idle spritz of TFGV. Bang!!! Got to have it. I walked zombie like to the check-out still smelling my arm. £96 later I have the 100 ml EDP.
What a fragrance. I’ve never smelled anything like it. Clean, fresh, earthy, sophisticated. I LOVE this stuff.
I tried the EDT too but it just wasn’t quite the same. EDP is the way to go and well worth it. Sniff….aaaaaahhhhh.

I love the initial burst of grapefruit, so lush and juicy, with a salty accord that gives this fragrance a fresh and clean feel. The saltiness becomes more apparent as the fragrance works its way to the drydown.
The Vetiver in this fragrance is not overpowering or dark, it’s clean and fresh, working beautifully with the salty and citrus notes. It all sits on a base of woods, but like the Vetiver, never overpowering. All the notes work so well together, it’s really been masterfully blended. As it settles into the dry down the soapy feel becomes apparent, however with all the notes, it’s opulent soap.
This is very versatile to me, perfect office scent or taking a stroll along the beach coast. I can’t see anyone being offended by this fragrance. Great office scent. I need a full bottle.

  54. :

Not sure what it is about this fragrance that keeps me reaching heavy handedly for the tester every time I pass a perfume counter but it’s so good to my nose, I just love it. I love Guerlain’s Vetiver too and have been on the fence about purchasing that one since smelling this. TF’s has that rounded salty warmth to it, I’m not sure I could pull off wearing it as it definitely leans masculine (GV also does but is very wearable on me, crisper).
Gosh I am sniffing the card I sprayed it onto now and just swooning. There’s something comforting yet sexy and masculine about this one, it’s sophisticated and self assured in its manliness, traditional yet has a wicked glint in the eye. Love it. (Edit, did I mention masculine? Lol)

Bought it as a replacement for Guerlain Vetiver, which for me was too bitter and retro for everyday use. TFGV is great, but it’s really a whole different ballgame than GV. While GV is minty and screamingly fresh, TFGV is salty and soft-spoken. Both are classy, but quite different in regard to freshness. Longevity is fine, but sillage and potency could be better for this price. It’s not exactly a concept fragrance, so I would’ve expected a better performance. But since I prefer the scent to be discovered rather than announced anyway, it’s not a big problem. I definitely don’t regret buying it, but it is not a replacement for GV.

This review targets the EDP, NOT the EDT……Delightful fragrance….for about 15 minutes if that! Undetectable after this point. No one was able to detect my wearing ANY type of scent despite my annoying just about everyone for feedback…For the exorbitant price, I’ll stick with Guerlain….Sorry Tom.

So I normally wouldn’t wear this fragrance daily, but I probably should. Grey Vetiver is one of those office appropriate fragrances that work so well throughout the year. It is simple, clean, soapy, no gimmick, no niche–straight to the point fragrance which is what I admire about it. It is one of those understated great American fragrances that I recommend to men and women who want to venture out from Calvin Klein or Donna Karan. Grey Vetiver to me smells very very commercial. It’s universal, it’s not cloying. It’s not pretentious (which is ironic coming from Tom Ford). But this has a blandness that works well for all skin types. The notes are not elaborate enough which is great. I actually keep a 50ml bottle of Grey Vetiver in my medicine cabinet in the bathroom.
Again, I don’t really wear it. BUT I have it in my bathroom for my guests to feel free and spray it on themselves if they ever felt the need to freshen up–which this fragrance feels–refreshing. Here’s a thought: You can tell a lot by a person when you snoop around their medicine cabinet (don’t sit there and act like you’ve never done that), perhaps you are looking for mouthwash, floss, or are just curious to know what’s inside. If I were any of you, keep one fragrance in your cabinet for when someone does take a peak behind the mirror at what you are, they notice a lovely bottle of EDP which gives a well groomed persona (if you’re a gentleman). I specifically chose Grey Vetiver for my bathroom for the aesthetic of a young American man who like’s to K.I.S.S. (KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID). I really wouldn’t want to share my Serge Lutens fragrances with anyone in my household, in fact, I don’t want anyone smelling like me. So feel free to liberally spray that Tom Ford parfum 🙂
Alright enough banter. Have you ever sprayed something on you and envision a frosted glass? That’s what this fragrance reminds me of: Lalique frosted glass. How funny that the ribbed bottle itself is semi frosted. Can we talk about the bottle too? I really love how chic, and transatlantic this bottle is. Sort of nostalgic, déco, classic cologne bottles of the past century. So the notes are easily citrus; though grapefruit(?), I don’t find grapefruit in this fragrance. I pick up a pungent inside skin of a pomelo; bittery, sour, but tasty. which is strong in this one, I also picked up orange blossom, datura, and heather (perhaps that’s how “grey” was inspired). As my skin warms this up, I picked up a bit of an aromatic spice. Not too sharp though. This spice was a bit sweet like a licorice synthetic vanilla quality like an orris root. After 30 minutes, I felt a hit of sage. Very strong sage. It almost made me gag a bit. But the sage burned down a bit and we moved into rich earthy mosses, bamboo, that tiny bit of vetiver which I honestly don’t care for because it’s not really present on my skin, and there is a pinch of massoia (this is clearly oriental inspired, I can imagine Ralph Rucci bathing in this).
This fragrance was moderate for me. Not really long lasting. I felt I probably need to reapply towards the late afternoon HOWEVER I applied Francis Kurkdjian’s APOM pour homme instead to layer it on because the soft amber of APOM flirts really well with Grey Vetiver’s translucent day quality. APOM is indeed a day wear fragrance but the dry down is definitely evening like. I loved how APOM and Grey Vetiver seemed so right as layers.
    7/10 for me.

Tough one- Definately has that rich lather, calgon bar soap smell. And then there’s the opening insecticide fresh grapfruit. It’s not overall unpleasent, and once the confusion settles into the drydown it is quite pleasing.
Writing this review i am constantly smelling my wrist and the dry down is quite nice. Staring off in the distance i can see a jar of sugar and i cant help but think if only there was a sweet lemon drop hint here. So much so that i can almost taste the “lemon drop”
and it occurrs to me this is the first time i have had a chance to let this develop without any outside influences, i.e. work, other people, food.
    ‘SLAP’
Very soapy clean on my skin, but clothing… I dont know if it’s a combination of laundry detergent or fabric softner, but it has developed a nice lemon vibe.
