Description

The house of Martin Margiela is launching a brand new collection of fragrances called Replica, as an addition to the Replica fashion line. The collection of fragrances consists of three perfumes for women named Flower Market, Beach Walk and Funfair Evening. Each of them triggers a characteristic memory and is accompanied with a cotton label describing its provenance.

Perfumers who were invited to participate in creation of the new collection are Jacques Cavallier and Marie Salamagne.

The first fragrance of the collection, Flower Market is built around floral notes of freesia, Grasse rose petals, Sambac jasmine and tuberose.

The fragrances are poured into classical, simple bottles similar to those in apothecaries, while their outer carton is illustrated with a photograph reflecting the topic of each of the fragrances.

All three perfumes are available from the end of June 2012, as 100 ml eau de toilette.

I love Maison Marigelas replica line ! This one is more close to a like than a love. The opening is great. Really smells like fresh cut flowers. Amazing ! The dry Down is more so – so.. silage is ok but longevity is below average. A fine flower scent, soft and feminine. The replica it self is spot on. Just mit my favorite of them all, but still a pretty good one though.

Now that I’ve tried a couple Maison Margiela’s fragrances, I can safely say that the majority of their perfumes resemble a teen who climaxes too fast when they are just 10 minutes into ‘it’.
That said, it is by no means an insult, since I never really found a perfume that sends the kicks right away as I do with Beach Walk and Flower Market. 10 seconds after spritzing, I found myself ohh and ahh-ing. They really live up to their names.
Flower Market is very interesting. Though, I’d understand if people call it generic. But this one is a likeable generic. It opens very strongly with white florals being undeniably potent. This scent mitigates my disappointment with the recent white floral perfume I tested, *cough cough* Chanel Gabrielle. Staying power is decent though sillage is not as prominent as Beach Walk.

Oh this is just gorgeous! Imagine a big elegant bouquet of many beautiful flowers, a beautiful lady in a floral dress holding the bouquet of flowers and leaving the trail of those beautiful flowers behind as she passes by..It is so, so, realistic, just pure flowers, as if you were smelling them right in front of you. It is elegant, sofisticated..I can see a bride wearing this on her wedding day! So beautiful, I love this so much!

Upon first spray it reminded me of a funeral wreath. I think it’s because of the floral blast on a rather sombre background. The oakmoss is rather heavy and so are the green leaves. I’m not sure I dislike it, because this is an unpredictable floral, yet the funeral feeling is not encouraging. Most likely I should give Flower Market a second chance. Longevity and sillage are both great.

my favorite current fragrance. this would be my signature scent, but it has no longevity. depressing!

Lasts MUCH longer than Gucci Bloom. This is a basic “fresh flowers for sale” scent. It works. It does what it says.
Lovely! But the price is too high in retail world. If you can find this for, say, $60.00 – go for it.

Was hoping for the scent of a florist shop, but Flower Market is a little bit too chemically harsh, with generic florals. It reminds me of a salon hairspray my mother used to use. Opens with a sharp white floral mix that is close to astringent. Gets ‘heavier’ as it settles in – in other words the alcohol fresh evaporates, and the florals seem stronger. Slighty soapy undertones reinforce the impression of a commercial scent made to enhance other products, like the hairspray that came to mind. Good sillage and longevity.

Too floral with little to soften the soapy lily feeling. I love Gucci Bloom, which is a jasmine & tuberose bomb. Flower Market just doesn’t work for me.

This is just a jasmine market (not a flower market).
However, a nice jasmine! No indole or animalic accord which is a plus to me.

I find Flower Market to be sharp and generic smelling, quite a nose tickler and not just at first. It’s not BAD bad, but uninspiring and not at all worth the price.

Really weird with all these bad reviews.
I get fresh cut flowers, in water, in cold air, in a flower shop. Light, airy, euphoric.
    Very realistic !
Not sure about longevity because I forgot to check on it after I left Sephora .
    The opening is divine !

Pleasant floral, nothing outstanding though and I can’t really smell much other than a subtle sweet after the first few minutes. Nice but hardly worth the pricetag…

This is a beautiful, soft, feminine and elegant perfume. It’s not too sweet or too powdery. Flower Market reminds me of romance in the springtime. It’s a womanly floral, not a girly-naïve floral. I couldn’t stop smelling my wrists!

    heheheh definitely a pleasant floral
    soft and delicate, whispering floral:)
not AT ALL for a male. Wearing it in
the Winter at night time, layered if u
call it that, with Laura Mercier Creme
Brûlée scrub, an iLike facial with Sour
Cherry Mask finished with Rose Whip
moisturizer & finished off with Young
Living’s Essential Oil of Geranium. I
think this’d be even better in summer
months – worth trying again 🙂 aaahhh

I was not able to sleep last night and had an exhausting day at work, so decided to meander through the fragrance floor of one of the department stores downtown on my way home. My path brought me to the Replica scents, and Flower Market stood out for its intoxicating burst of lilac and lily-of-the-valley associations. It was like the lining of Heaven had just been pierced, and its pith was gushing out uncontrollably.
Though a biological male who wears heavy spice-laden monstrosities much of the time, on a whim I decided to put a few sprays of this on my wrist to envelop me in a June garden during the long subway ride home…
What started out as a commute in a floral dream turned within 15 minutes into a DARK NIGHTMARE. To my deep dismay this had transformed before my nostrils into LILY-OF-THE-HORROR. I felt that everyone was looking around the car, wondering which tasteless heathen had mixed 12 of the cheapest pharmacy perfumes together to come up with such a NAUSEATING SYNTHETIC DISASTER.
The shame! I was so relieved when my station came and I was able to slip out into the night, no doubt leaving a sickening trail of plastic disgrace in my wake…

If you like tuberose you will like this perfume. For me tuberose is the main note here. Flowers, a lot of flowers. Fresh, girly, summery. Does not smell cheap. Reminded me Do Son. This one and Fireplace is the best in the whole Replica line IMHO.

It’s extremely pleasant, certainly, but not at all reminiscent of a flower market…the prohibitively expensive byredo tulipe wins that category. Not really experiencing the freesia notes here, mainly a jasmine skin scent. Beach walk is definitely my first pick from this house

This seemed like a winner as it possesses so many floral notes that I so love and at first spray it was gorgeous!
I do have a severe problem with longevity and sillage but this didn’t last but five minutes and disappeared.
    Another MM disappointment.

I love florals and cedar/oakmoss base notes, so I thought I would love this. After using a tester, I was severely disappointed! It is cloying and synthetic. It smelled like a cheap 90s body spray. I didn’t get to the base notes, as I scrubbed it off due to the monstrous headache it was giving me.

This is the second Replica that has disappointed me. I expected to love this and Beach Walk and both are no more than very pretty body splashes that last about an hour–definitely not worth the price tag! Definitely one to test before buying. If it lasts longer on you, it is a lovely floral bouquet with predominantly rose and jasmine.

Beautiful scent, it smells like you put your face in a bouquet of the most amazing flowers.
It can be a little one-dimensional, but that is what I love about it! Its just flowers and nothing more! The scent is so lovely it doesn’t really need any supporting notes.

This is a pretty and fresh floral. There is nothing special about it, but it is romantic. It doesn’t smell overly realistic, just like pink flowers.

I wanted to love this so much that I ended up blind buying a bottle that is currently en route to me. In the meantime, I was able to sample this yesterday and ugh . . . . . HUGE dislike. Nothing fresh or crisp about this. To me it smells exactly like Anais Anais (of which I am not a fan). Not long lasting either. Cant wait for my bottle to arrive and be sent RIGHT BACK

The opening of Flower Market almost lives up to its name: bouquets of fresh rose and jasmine, with the verdancy of their leaves and stems, and the peppery nuance of their stamens. The freesia accentuates the dewy, fresh impression while tuberose lurks underneath enhancing the floral suavity. Unfortunately, a synthetic, volatile note crashes this flower party, pushing the scent into a sharp artificiality.
After about 2 hours, this synthetic note finally fades away, and the fragrance turns into a watery, fresh rose with subtle nuance of berries and peach. It then remains this young, fresh rose till the end.
The sillage is moderate to soft, and the longevity is around 5 hours. As a clean, fresh floral, Flower Market is quite versatile and inoffensive, but I’d suggest testing before buying due to the presence of the synthetic note during the opening.

This smelled great on the test strip at Sephora, but on my skin it turns into a nasty sour plastic floral within ten minutes. Thankfully it doesn’t last much longer than that.

  26. :

    3 out of 5

Increadibly beautiful, feminine and soft but o so soft…. I get mainly rose and tuberose for about 30 minutes , and then it is gone.
The saleslady was so kind to fill me up a full size sample from the tester which I used in one go!
This was on my wish list for some time but I am so disappointed in the longevity I just know I am not going to spend my hard earned money on it.

If you like heady, dreamy florals you must give this a sniff. It’s incredible. It has the realistic vibe of scents like La Haie Fleurie, A La Nuit, La chasse aux papillons…so real you expect to sneeze! I think it’s striking, powerful, and masterfully blended. Very very beautiful. For my nose this is all about tuberose, and I LOVE tuberose.

  28. :

    5 out of 5

At first sniff, I was impressed by this: the overall impression was of a fresh green floral rather like a more serious ‘Italian tailored’ version of Diorissimo – no muguet listing, but that’s how it comes across. But the dry-down is very disappointing: the light, ‘natural’ feel goes and you’re left with a very persistent set of synthetic notes. I tried this with (Untitled) from this house, and they both have this drawback. If you’re tempted by this, be sure to give it a full skin test right through dry-down before you buy!

  29. :

    3 out of 5

It smells (almost) like Gucci Gracious Tuberose on my skin but less fruity peach. It’s not so special or “wow, it’s strange. It’s totally Maison Martin Margiela”, but not so bad, not so loud. I like it, but I can’t say I love it.

  30. :

    5 out of 5

My first impression was there was lily-of-the-valley here but now that I see the notes it’s not mentioned. I wonder what was that a little bitter flowery note at the beginning then?

  31. :

    3 out of 5

I don’t know why people doesn’t like this fragrance but I do love it! It smells just like freshly cut flower after a morning dew. The same smell you get when you enter a flower market. Very floral, but not the “annoying floral” kind. Perfect for daywear.

  32. :

    3 out of 5

This is another instance of an attractive marketing concept and a very mediocre scent. It is certainly not bad! It is soft and nice, mainly jasmine and freesia, but not really beautiful either.
The name sets high hopes on this one 🙂
Oh well, it does not smell like a flower market at all.
Another safe common unnatural flower scent. Kind of fresh, not too sweet, not memorable, and again, not bad.
Edit: poor longevity on my skin.

  33. :

Probably the “best” of the lot. A subtle and trasnparent floral which might do fine during summer. Not particularly interesting and lacking a real bone structure but if you like light modern florals, give it a chance. Inoffensive, sort of generic yet somewhat decent. Me? Pass…
