Hmm maybe the bottle I got is old.. came in a cool tin, great bottle design, it’s just plain stinks! Like I tried to wear it, mix it with something, it stinks, very synthetic. And I paid like 80$+ for it… not worth that price at all

Very powdery smell. I did not really like it at first but my wife love it so much. Sharp, sweet, powdery, floral and very unique.

I initially wasn’t interested in this, or JPG’s perfume overall, my brother has Le Male, and I just don’t want to use his signature scent.
But somewhere in the review I read that this one had been discontinued, but I was still indifferent at that time, because I was searching for Bond no 9 I Love New York for All.
Nonetheless, during my search for Bond no 9, I came across the last batch of this discontinued perfume for a reasonable price (around $60 ish), and I was like, heck, let’s buy this for the sake of boasting that I have a discontinued perfume in my collection.
SO I bought it, and I’m very glad that I did.
This still has Le Male DNA, but just about enough flower to make it different than the original Le Male. Yes it’s a bit sweet, spicy, floral, and smell a bit like baby powder. However, I still think this is a masculine scent, the spiciness is too masculine for a woman to wear this.
Having said that, don’t let stereotype decide what you wear… Masculine, feminine, unisex…. Wear what you like, and be confident enough to pull it off.

This fragrance reminds me of a Netflix thriller – the Alienist. Remember those little French boys? Yup, this is exactly how they would smell like!

I was very excited to finally try this composition by Francis Kurkdjian, even if I feared it being too feminine with all the floral notes. Maybe I was also tempted by the fact that I’m pretty sure the name was meant to play with the outrageous title “Les Fleurs du Mal” released by Baudelaire in the 1850s.
It was not quite how I imagined it but again, florals for men aren’t that common these days. The opening is quite prominent, heavy and not to my liking, leaning rather to the feminine side with the petitgrain and neroli.
When the heart notes take over however, this becomes more to my liking with the fern, chamomile, and coumarin/tonka ending on an ambery musky note. Powdery, smoky and a little dry.
Projection and longevity are both good and above moderate on me. Not something I would recommend for work, but more of a casual, fun scent.
Based on the reviews and ratings I expected this to be a scent for spring season, but to me it is much more of a winter (or maybe fall) season scent, at least the sweetness makes it feel too heavy for warmer weather. In the drydown it actually reminds me quite a bit of Ted Lapidus Altamir with the orange blossom and all.
Overall the rather feminine floral notes are not my thing, but my utmost respect for the thoughts and craftmanship put into this.

To my nose, this is an ultimate slightly herbal baby powder bomb. Maybe it triggered some childhood memories because I love the smell.
Never gotten me any compliments and performed beastly on the skin. 75ml bottle will last forever with me.

Some scents have a special presence and charisma all of their own and when worn can become almost hypnotic. For my humble nose and tastes Fleur Du Male is one of these. From sweltering mid summer to the depths of winter this scent always stays composed and true. Aroma wise it leans toward the cool spectrum, pitched quite high and is supported on a base of musk and a dry chalky vanilla. The constant note throughout is orange blossom. So realistic and natural is this you can almost feel the silky texture of the petals. What is remarkable to me is the slightly raunchy animalic note, very sensual, throughout the long life of the fragrance which is echoed in the real flower. So there we have it, Floral, musky, vanillic sensual scent. Not for everyone for sure, but if you can feel its charisma it will be a glorious sexy companion. Ciao!!

I purchased this for my husband initially, but I totally claimed it.

Awesome fragrance that is floral but it smells like an expensive hand or body soap. It comes across as a very clean smell. I am not a fan of florals but this is well done if you dont mind smelling like an expensive perfumed soap that lingers a smell of clean spring time floral cloud around you. It garners compliments with good to great performance. A total gem.

For those looking for this, a trusted decant site — The Decant Shop — seems to have quite a bit. They’re selling it much cheaper than most discontinued scents. I personally like the scent but I could understand others not liking it. There’s a bouquet of flowers in it and more than one spray threatens to be cloying. Otherwise, it dries down into a soft bouquet of flowers and I find it pleasing. The note that I think might put some off is chamomile. It’s a note I like and find both comforting and relaxing. It’s often used in relaxation teas. At the Decant Shop website, you can get a 5ml for $9.95 or an 8ml for $14.95. Considering it’s only a one spray per use, an 8ml will last a long time.

Sounds really intersting. I want to try it but sadly i can’t find it anywhere.
Why should they discontinue some good fragrances that people like???!!!

    This Is so floral!!!!
    Just concentrated white florals.
    Bit herbal.
    One spray only, otherwise cloying.
    Beast performance
Needs a lot of confidence to.pull this one off.
    Unisex for sure.

Sweet, almost sticky smelling chamomile an neroli combo.
Very manly, flowery scent, and it lasts the whole day, the longevity is insane. Smells like nothing i’ve smelled before, this is a very good choice if you want something different .
It can be worn all year around, but I would choose something else in very high heat, because this can be really cloying.
3 sprays is almost too much. Everyone is raving about Popeye and Ultra male ( they are good though), but in my humble opinion, this is on another level.

This is masterpiece and I sad to know it discontinued. R.I.P. Once I have been try this when I was 1st year university , and year after year this scent never leave my memory. Whenever you find it guys please grabs it! It so feminine and synthetic but it scent is just like out of heaven, like a smell from angel itself! It silage like bomb and longevity is marvelous! Gods please bring them back!
Scent 9.5/10 (Heavenly white flowers/bright included Le Male DNA and clean)
    Silage 10/10
Longevity 10/10 (Last forever on skin and in the memory of people)
Seriously guys this is the greatest of JPG! It stick to people memory just like a tattoo, they can forget your face but they won’t forget this scent on your skin, people around you will stop talking and everything he does and look at you whenever you walk trough them. No one will smell like you, you will standout even from Original Le Male, One millions or Aventus. No scent can compare with this.

Arthur Knight – this isn’t a debate pal. I made it clear. FDM is VERY similar to AKPOM. I am comparing both side by side right now. On both hands. They are INCREDIBLY similar.
    FDM = a slightly poorer man’s AKPOM.
If you cannot even say they are similar then I detect real bias and something untoward in your absurdly rapid response to my review post.
Something seems very wrong with the review section of this fragrance!

  17. :

    3 out of 5

    hey, Sean Raymond!
U mean FMK Apom? Absolutely no similarity with this JPG FDM! Just blow your nose, please!

  18. :

    5 out of 5

First things first – yes, there is a similarity between this and Reflection man. But that is it. A similarity. They are not all that close to my nose. So if anyone thinks FDM would be a cheap alternative they are misguided. And seeing as FDM has been discontinued – it isn’t much cheaper anyway!
FDM is floral, but opens up quite herbal to me – almost vegetal. But floral eventually dominates – and with a disappointingly low amount of sweetness. Not getting much Le Male (it is in there – but faint) – which I’d hoped for within 10 seconds of spraying.
NOW. The moment I first smelt this, which was today, I was not hit by Reflection man at all – but something else. Something I knew to be much much closer. I rattled my brains until I sussed it out.
Right now I am doing a side by side with……Maison Francis Kurdijan’s AKPOM. Now these are MUCH closer than Reflection man. AKPOM itself has been compared to Reflection man, but the similarity is fleeting (I can see why people link all three admittedly).
So, in short – Fleur de Male is the ‘slightly’ cheaper smelling version of the higher quality AKPOM – but given FDM has been discontinued – it is probably now more expensive!
Of the three – I prefer Reflection man. I prefer the sweetness – FDM and AKPOM are too floral for me. I have all of them – but will probably sell the latter two as I can’t see myself ever wearing them. Which is why I cannot comment on performance of FDM (or AKPOM)
FDM = ‘slightly’ poor mans AKPOM. After 1 hour – VERY similar. Trust me on this.

This one could have been great, but I must say that it was way too brash and “in your face”. Typically weak performance is a negative, but I think that toning this fragrance way down would have been beneficial. White florals are finicky notes, and can easily become overbearing. That is the case here. It is dark and VERY floral. Way too much.

This is my only favourite from Jean Paul Gaultier line. Yes it’s already discontinued production but you still can get if from few vintage perfume shop at my place Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
BEWARE! This scent is a nuclear bomb, it fills a room & very long lasting, more than 12 hours performance. 1 spray is enough already for me. This is my special reserved perfume, I used it seldomly only for special occasion. It’s quite versatile too but not many will appreciate this beauty. It’s a polarizing scent, some will love it some will hate it.
The bottle of this perfume is the best design in my shelf. White body sculpture….how cool is that huh? It comes in a white tin packaging replaced the usual square box, just like other Le Male flanker packaging.
I’ve read some review actually this scent is marketed for gay people, but I don’t care…I wear scent for myself not for others. Try before you buy, your experience might be different from me.

  21. :

    3 out of 5

YES! A very strong, intoxicating orange blossom. I grew up in the rural/suburban Mediterranean, and it annoys me how most brands’ ‘orange blossom’ perfumes or candles are this wishy-washy soft floral with vague orange undertones…like they’ve never smelled the actual flower and are constructing what they imagine an orange blossom would smell like!
This is a true neroli – zingy, bittersweet and with green undertones. Of course, JPG adds honey into the mix so it IS a sweet perfume, but it’s still a great and true orange blossom/neroli. It also has a dreamy hay-like vibe in the background, which isn’t mentioned. Might be the camomile. I smell zero basil (or any kind of herb).
It’s very strong and lasts 24 hours on clothes, and 3-4 hours on my skin which might not sound like much, but my skin absorbs any fragrance within 30-60 minutes, no matter how generously I spray or how strong it’s supposed to be. So that’s quite the feat!

The one Le Male flanker that has stood the test of time, and has made a name for itself. The only one that is a true pretender for the best Le Male category.
Fleur de Male is so exceptionally excellent and also different enough that i consider it a pillar fragrance. I just love that chamomile note. And that Baudelaire wordplay. And the bottle.
I won’t say it’s better than the Leader of the Pack, but is equally great. I will always respect Monsieur Kurkdjian for Le Male and its Fleur partner.

    FLOWER BOMB
The original flower bomb! I’ve just finished my bottle of Fleur de Male, after years of savouring it. I was given a tester of this which I initially passed to my boyfriend, who turned his nose up at it. I however, loved it. I thought it was a really powerful and unusual scent to wear as a woman. Over the years my boyfriend has wore it and I think it smells even better on his skin. It is soapy, squeaky clean with a floral punch.
This is a fragrance that will fill a room. People would smell me before they see me, but that’s how I like my perfume. It starts off full on white floral, and dries down extremely powdery. Definitely a niche market for this kind of fragrance. Pleased to see so many other people enjoyed this fragrance in the reviews!

Am leaving in warm equieterial weather and this scent is a perfect in here
I use only two hardly three sprays and it fills the room . What a gorgeous scent
It started as a sweet pungent mix of white flowers which dies down immediately to sweet neroli powderry Fougere and develops to a very smooth fresh very gentlemanly fresh scent in all day long . I get woods and kind of green harbs i think from camomile
It stays for a long time 17 plus its scent bubble is very huge in first three hours then it becomes a arm length smell for the rest of its lifespan
Definitely its not for every man . Sample it before you buy it

@anaphylactic78 – I am not sure what you’re trying to say? If you feel that Fleur du Male smells similar to Reflection Man then you should state your opinions in a well-written review that includes how a fragrance smells, how well it performs, appropriate times for wearing said fragrance, comments received from others, and feelings it evokes while on your skin. Piece of cakes!
As for people saying t smelling similar to Le Male…perhaps, but only a fleeting similarity that is not strong enough for my to vote for such as similarity. But be aware. Le Male smells very similar (but not identical) to Reflection Man and close to 200 members have mentioned this fact in their review of Reflection Man…not to mention just about every fragrance reviewer on Youtube, Facebook and other social media. Sadly, a handful of butt-hurt punks are permitted to create dozens or hundreds of accounts just so they can vote down people who vote that it smells similar to Le Male.
Obviously, others have voted Fleur du Male reminds them of Reflection Man…but you’ll have to read the reviews (hope they weren’t deleted by the Reflection Man trolls) because that’s the only way to glean this information. Sad, but true. If you don’t believe…vote that Reflection Man reminds your of Le Male, Fleur du Male, Cuba Gold (etc.) and she how long it takes one of these rubes to create another account and vote you down.

I did a blind-buy of Fleur du Male (FdM) back in 2013 because it was inexpensive and a fragrance created by perfume extraordinaire, Maison Francis Kurkjian. Initially, I liked it but didn’t love it. However, I’ve grown to love and appreciate FdM and feel that it’s a brilliant quality scent even though it’s not my style. I would love to wear it more often but I find it difficult finding an appropriate time to wear it on my uber-manly, testosterone-laden skin.
Whereas I find Le Male to be a dangerous fragrance (e.g., dangerous in that I sense every female wanting to molest me whenever they get a whiff of the vintage version blended with my manly testosterone and pheromones – the ladies love this sexy elixir), I sense this same danger while wearing Fleur du Male. Unfortunately, the danger is from getting my ass-kicked, lunch money taken, and man-card revoked for smelling like a cuck with flowers in his hair. (LOL) I just don’t feel this is a very manly scent…but still love it.
Regardless, I really did like this fragrance and it has continued to impress me over the years (a Fleurry type of La Male). Moreover, it is certainly a unique men’s fragrance, very well-blended (excellent quality) and reasonably priced. However, it’s just too powdery and fleurry for me(n) to wear often…especially in public. A definite try, try and try again before you buy.
Finally, just like with my vintage bottle (pre 2012) of Le Male, FdM projects like a beast and lasts a very long time. Overall, Fleur du Male is a brilliant and highly underrated and highly overlooked fragrance. Sadly, it misses with the Hoi Polloi because it doesn’t smell like Department Store cologne, it misses with the Hoity Toity because it doesn’t come with a $300 price-tag so it must be crap, and it misses with the dudes because it smells just a bit too chickly. Still, it is an awesome fragrance that you should put your nose on.

    kinda odd scent. very rich.
smells like a bundle of hay with frosting on top, smells like sugary white frosting, the smell of the inner piece of a slice of cake, some thick musk in the base.
if you wanted to you could probably put a cherry on top.
*probably just the way Gaultier likes his boys. lol

Huele bien. Huele a la nota de flor de naranjas que mencionan y al secado, dulzón. Lástima que en mi, no huela tanto ni dure como a otros. En el único lugar donde perdura mucho incluso despues de bañarme es en el cabello…

I bought this one blind after reading lots of interesting reviews on here and I’m not disappointed. I was a little worried this was going to be a little too feminine for my liking but its simply a beautiful clean floral scent.
One of the hugest openings I have encountered from a fragrance, 2 sprays and I was captivated by this scents minimalist beautiful presence. The neroli shines through sublimely and holds the petitgrain together beautifully. Lasts for 10+ hours with huge sillage, I wish more fragrances had this power, but I guess that’s another story…
This could be a future classic imo, Kurkdjian is a true master of his craft he has blended a few notes into a magical captivating potion. One of the more unique scents I have encountered a great added dynamic to my wardrobe.

Wow! This a powder bomb! Oh my word I love this! Definitely unisex. Ladies, if you enjoy balsamic, powdery beasts like Shalimar then this is for you! i can’t believe this stuff is for men. Im not your macho type of man but this is definitely not something i will never wear. i blind bought a 4.2 oz, didn’t like it. i trashed it immediately. heavy florals, very heavy, heavy feminine floral. last 12 plus hours

Heavy floral tones. i owned a couple bottles of this fragrance a long time ago. It is so beastly in performance from what i remember this scent will fill up a room and it will show up before you even get inside the building lol. Also Fahrenheit 32 reminds me of this fragrance. I would go light on the sprays using this fragrance.

    I like this fragrance !!
Fleur du male is one of the few flankers I like much more than the mother fragrance.
I like it because the genius of the musks, Mr. Kurkdjian knew how to make a fragrance where he combines classic perfection with avant-garde, risking with a complicated drying, and as a result I find a very beautiful, compact and unique mixture that can only be achieved With a mind like that of Gaultier.
Since centuries ago, the neroli, no doubt fits classic as a white floral symbol, totally unisex, also infantile, within the Mediterranean culture.
Its aroma fits perfectly with the petit grain producing an effect between fresh citrus and floral herbal, it is possible to increase this herbal effect with the use of chamomile. The aromatic part is the coriander. But here the thing does not end, this carries more components than here announced.
Kurkdjian very skillfully wished to take this note so potent and marked that he makes with the agreement of the neroli to the more masculine side of the flower, combines perfectly with other substances and manages to produce from the middle notes a clean shirt effect freshly ironed with some shades of Hay and amber, also uses the density of the woods with a marked musky floral aroma like the use of Hedione and Iso E, combines it with a mixture of musks and as a result we obtain this beautiful and clever dried floral aroma with an effect Clean freshly ironed shirt and a dry finale with light soap scent. This effect, although it gives us another sensation, is tremendously masculine.
Something similar does Prada with L’infusion d’homme using iris instead of Nerolí.
The duration is quite good and the wake too. The mixture is developed in two phases, is very well mixed and undoubtedly its originality is undoubted and to be a designer fragrance fulfills well with my expectations.

A strong, white floral that borders on being soapy like Irish Spring bar soap.
FdM has this moist, sweaty crotch accord… like smell of compression shorts/underwear after an amazing workout. That odor melange of laundry detergent, drops of urine, and possible semen residue from a recent ejaculation. To put it bluntly, FDM has a sensual and sultry smell of a healthy and physically-fit man’s sweaty groin with a giant pillow punch of white flowers. I find it very musky yet erotic with a vivid retro tinge.
With that said, you’re every day man isn’t going to like this fragrance. At all. It will be too “old man smelling” or “old lady smelling.” It’s just so different from anything presented by a designer these days.
This is definitely something I will only wear for myself at home. I can see hipsters enjoying this scent due to its retro vibe and true-to-life organic scent profile.

I agree that this one is not something we usually see among designer male fragrances.it’s different so it’s not a safe blind buy.I think it’s unisex not a male perfume.I can’t detect much citruses or green notes.on my skin it’s mostly a white floral.sweet and a tad soapy neroli and a hint of camomile which gives it a herbal, relaxing undertone.like a scent used as aromatherapy
Although it’s notes may suggest,it’s not a fresh summery fragrance.it’s better for mild weather IMO because it’s honey-like sweetness may be cloying in heat
I bought it for my husband because he has and loves original le male and this one has an adorable white bottle.he didn’t like it and refused to wear it saying it’s feminine, indeed a classic feminine scent not a modern one.so I use it myself when I am in it’s mood. It’s very long lasting and sillage is heavy.I prefer it for layering because it feels too linear and strong sometimes
It’s something between ❤❤ and ❤❤❤ depending on my mood and temperature(I like it better when it’s cold)

I have had this in my collection for at least 3-4 years. Even though I haven’t used it too much, it always gets me in a happy mood whenever I use it. It is not like all the mainstream men scents with a lot of citrus. It is a very unique powdery designer fragrance with a lot of white flowers and can be worn the whole year. I can only imagine niche designers making something like this for men. Nothing for the macho guy but very pleasant.

This one is for the gent who desires to exude distinction and candor. Oh the florals and herbs! To many this may smell feminine, but who placed a gender on floral scents?
There is no other men’s fragrance in the market that smells anything like Fleur du Male (as far as I know). If you wear scents for your own pleasure regardless of public opinion, this is for you, comrade.
Beastly sillage and longevity. Get your bottle now, as it has already been discontinued.

    The 100 Days Challenge – Day 25:
Fleur transitions from the thick sharpness of the beginning into a flamboyant, creamy paradise. The vanilla inheritance flows softly as the background of heavy white florals. I commend this for being not only unique and gorgeous but also a token of a visionary approach made towards the aesthetic of masculinity and it’s progression in culture. Who said that men cannot be delicate?
    Today’s word: Adoration.

Back in the day when JPG actually made amazing unique fragrances. this is more of an experimental fragrance like encre noir or narcisco rodriguez. not something you would wear everyday but when you are in the right mood it can do wonders. Definitely leans towards the feminine side and can rub some people the wrong way so i wouldn’t say its a good blind buy. However, if you use it sparingly you can really appreciate the beauty of this scent. a real true flanker of the original. different enough as to stand on its own merit but the dry down gives me hints of the original.Performance is absolutely insane better than most EDPs out there. Great for spring but can be used for winter and fall. Sadly disconnected because the average guy would never wear a scent like this but if you look online you can surely find it.
    Pros-
    Unique and sexy
Quality is very good for a designer scent
    amazing performance
    Cons-
Polarizing scent, can rub some people the wrong way
Not very versatile or something you would wear everyday (Personally speaking of course)
    8.5/10

I’m on my third 125ml bottle and I just love it. Does anyone find the drydown reminiscent of Escada’s Magnetism for men?

I bought this thinking it might be a dupe for Xerjoff’s Oesel. However, I have sampled Oesel from their discovery set. Nothing alike. I love Oesel. However, my skin ONLY pumps up the neroli when using Fleur de Male. I did not get that with Oesel. BUT…if you LOVE neroli..this is a beautiful, bold neroli fragrance! And, I think, would be far too floral for most men. Not all, of course ;o)
UPDATE: First, after laughing my butt off at merlino_teflon’s description of the projection of this juice LOL, I wanted to say that after 4 hours this has finally not punching my nose with neroli and has settled into a delicious fragrance that is actually outlasting the Lira I put on the other hand about and hour afterward. If you DON’T want to make metrosexuals curl up in a ball (LOL!!!), you might want to put it on very lightly or an hour or so before you put yourself out in the public! Thumbs up on this beast!

It’s funny, because I’m a chick and I find this scent too feminine when I’m using, so I don’t like too much on me (I prefer Le male or Ultra male), but I received compliments from others:D Yes, I wrote earlier that similar to Joop! Homme (some user commented that it’s bullshit), this juice is more rafined, less sweet cinnamon or less “oriental” feeling, more raw and sharp, not as warm as Joop! It’s very strong and harsh, my g friend doesn’t like it because she hates Joop! and they’re alike.
On my mother smells better, I think it suits to her more:)

My first JPG perfume, beautiful, this’ll keep the dark clouds of winter at bay, very bright, aroma therapy. Nothing metrosexual about it, I just saw a metrosexual walk by, sniff in my general direction, curl up in a ball, then cry for their mother. Which is quite a feat as I am currently alone in a room two stories off the ground, though my window is open at least one eighth. But either sex could wear it, if they agree with the basic fundamentals of life. Or something equally dramatic.

This scent is very reminiscent of Sweet Pea that we have in the garden.

First use it smellt exactly like Joop Homme.
Now though after several+ uses I get mostly sweet raunchy hay, and sweetness underneath.
It was an odd scent at first. Took me some uses to get used to that new smell, but now I have gotten used to it more. I bought it without smelling it first.
Basically, I thought this would be much fresher and citrusy and green, like neroli, which I would have loved, but it is actually very different than that. It’s somewhat syrupy sweet in the background covered over with a stronger raunchy hay smell, which is the primary scent in this. It’s a casual scent, kinda field-y smelling, almost gourmand, kinda outdoorsy like a hay field that smells sweet. It seems later on there is some intriguing musk and maybe a vanillic base.
I think read someplace that this is a tonka bean/coumarin overdose scent.
It’s an interesting and fairly unique scent.
Not something I would wear to the office, or to a party either. It’s not clean smelling or fruit punch smelling which might be best for those occasions. I am not sure if there is a perfect occasion to wear this in, it’s basically just casual.
The more I occasionally use this, it seems the better it gets. It actually smells very confectionery and quite delicious sometimes, almost like a desert or a sweet rich creamy herbal candy.
In any case, the price is very affordable online.
