Have you ever smelled something so intoxicating that you need to close your eyes to immerse yourself in? Ferme tes Yeux is the hauntingly beautiful enchanter luring me into Rousseau’s erotic The Dream…. with my eyes closed, lying on the bed of dark forest with animals lurking, breathing in the indolic lily-filled air..
    Dangerous, decadent and scandalous..

Ferme tes Yeux is eerily morbid to the point of decay; and as it flirts with death it has all the tools ready for skilled dissection by the deranged surgeon. Its state is pre Rigor Mortis as it, paradoxically, has lost little of its ambery and spicy warmth and very strong animalics still animate it – yet it is as evil as it is cultured. Ferme tes Yeux sits there on your skin grinning like the Cheshire Cat as you, the hapless wearer, descent further down the rabbit hole and resort to scrubbing and anxious frequent re-smelling to try to see whether the decomposing blemish is already hidden for good (“and stay dead!”) from your grotesquely posh and awkwardly stiff aunties and uncles that have already orderly gathered round the table for afternoon tea. Ferme tes Yeux is the scent of the starless night in David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive with all its paranoia testing the boundaries of the humanly psychologically bearable.
Only three bottles of FtY are left, which means it is now officially out of stock and no longer available commercially. Thus the JAR table has been reduced to five scent-soaked leathers in their respective jars.

I don’t have the bottle, we just purchased a decant to see what the Paris fuss was about. When I first applied it to my wrist, there was a strong floral scent, almost an overpowering flower garden. This is not a subtle scent, it’s very much “in your face” as if someone smashed roses and carnations right up your nostrils. Nothing magical about this one.
After about five minutes, it strongly reminded me of a horse stable. The leathery and musky note is very unpleasant – I neither like it on me nor my husband’s wrist. There is an underlying spiciness to top off all the before mentioned olfactory explosions which does not make it any better.
It reminds me of what I imagine an oriental bar would smell like, one with sweaty leather-clad dancers and fresh potent flowers in every corner and on every table.
One positive thing is its sillage. If you wear this scent, then you can be sure it will be noticed. I had to wipe it off with alcohol because I disliked it so much but even after that, the leftover scent is still strong. A good amount of soap did the job in the end.

A very nice scent. It’s like this on my skin: at first it’s all about a bit cold and fresh wild flowers (because of the morning dew on them), pea pods and peas of milky ripeness. Then all of them transform into very beautiful lilies, and those become a blooming meadow, but not in the morning, it’s noon, and I’m there, happy, tanned, a bit sweaty, picking wild strawberries. Some more time passes by, and the scent becomes something very familiar to me. What is it? Vintage Joy by Jean Patou. Roses, jasmine and animalics. I like wearing Ferme tes Yeux a lot.

i feel..this is the one i like most… it smells like an arabic oriental perfume..my guess, maybe a bit of oud from south east asia, amber, a bit of musk and roses..silage is low anyway…

Close your eyes indeed – This is Triffids by Moonlight. – animalic and vegetative in equal measure – dangerous and thrilling. People talk of the smell of decay which accompanies its opening,.and perhaps the sensation that the flowers are just past their best, combined with civet creates the impression of something rotting.
I get strong visual images from my favourite scents. With first whiff of this I immediately see those Triffids lurking sullenly at the edges of a moonlit jungle. It’s a perfectly still tableau, hung with creepers and lit by moonbeams full of sparkling dust motes, illuminating beds of flowers with pale, exotic, waxy petals. This scent makes my head throb from its rich power in a slightly disturbing way, and yet I can’t stop thinking about it..
If i were going to Trader Vic’s for a night of exotica music and Tiki cocktails, this is what i would wear. It feels vintage, sexy, smouldering, womanly, dangerous!
I know i would probably have to sell my friends children in order to acquire a bottle, (and in the meantime, thank god for decants) but one day i must have it – its magnificent. It haunts me!
