Eternity Calvin Klein for women of Calvin Klein

Share:

Description

Eternity is another very successful fragrance of Calvin Klein, which was designed as a tribute to his marriage. Eternity is a hymn of eternal values: love, family and peace.

The composition opens with fresh citrus and green notes, that is followed by the note of violet and lily-of-the-valley. The note of carnation with its spiciness gives the floral heart slightly peppery accord. The final notes are gentle with powdery heliotrope, pink sandalwood and transparent musky notes.
The perfume was created by Sophia Grojsman 1988.

Ummm…I think my profile name says it all.
My first bottle in 1991 was a gift from my then boss. Even though I was young I was only attracted to orientals and darker moody perfumes. I wore Magic Noire, Youth Dew, Coco. So receiving this tall bottle of light coloured perfume that smelled very clean clear and bright was weird to me. (Its now a yellow coloured juice but back then it was almost clear).
It was so strong you would need only 2 sprays and you would be surrounded by a cloud of non stop scent and at maximum strength for 8 – 10 hours. I would pop it on because I thought it was a nice gesture of my boss but never gave it much thought because I was utterly not used to wearing something so fresh and bright. But I noticed I kept receiving compliments galore. People would say you smell glorious. And it suits you so well. It was because of the compliments that I kept wearing it and when I finished the bottle I realized it had become a part of me. I would never be without a bottle over the next couple of decades.
Another reason I love it is that I have worn this in happy times and some terribly bleak times and it never fails to make me feel beautiful. And its like perfume teflon for me. No sad or difficult emotions or memories stick to it like it can with some scents. It forever lifts me above the world and it’s problems and strife. For me even though it has changed (in strength and has a sweeter and more flowery aspect etc) Eternity is true to her name for me. Eternally and forever transcendent.

I never understood the hype for eternity, it’s too green and sharp for my taste. There is a powder note in there I just don’t like. I prefer obsession over this one. I’m not saying it’s a bad fragrance, it’s just not my style . If you like fresh green soapy earthy scents you might like this

Cassic but original. Definitely feminine. I detected strong clove note right away creating the spicy wibe. I was suprised it’s not on the list and wonder if anybody else thinks that. Maybe carnation with other ingredients creates its appearence but to me, surely resembles sweet and spicy aromatic cloves which makes this fragrance interesting.

Quite different—I can see how some people could love this and wear it well. I’d love to love it, but sadly, it turns very acrid and peppery plastic on my skin.

I was avoiding this for a long time, in general, I don’t like CK’s fragrances. But then, my friend told me that she is looking so hard for this perfume and she can’t find it. So, we started visiting every shop possible. I smelled it on her and tried on my skin. It’s a pure magic. Clean, soft, soapy and floral, the smell is white and transparent. It’s in the same range as CH 212 and Omina Crystaline.

I’ve smelled this at Ulta recently but never actually bought a bottle. I was trying to decide if I prefer this or Obsession and I like this a bit better I would say. It’s weird for me to say that considering I love warm, spicy, gourmand types of fragrances and while I do love obsession, Eternity is just beautiful smelling to me. The way I see it is Obsession = dramatic, sophisticated, and brave whereas Eternity is quiet, shy, and reserved. I love it 🙂

Just two years ago I tested it for the first time. You know, most of old school CK has metallic scent, so I avoided that brand.
Oh well, I got punched by the heavy dose of hospital environment straight up to my nose and it almost put me in coma. But I knew I need to be stronger than that and avoided my wrist for the sake of magic.
It’s really rewarding and more than that. I am lucky because I love carnations, my favourite flowers. I could tell it’s there with non descriptive bitter herbal soapy notes. Later it turns to something like hand cream scent. That testing day made a big impact, I suddenly understood that I found excellent and affordable perfume for black tie occasions and all these days when you need to be grown up woman.
Before going out, I let perfume live on my skin for 1-2 hours. Then it smells like wealth.

I am writing bc I wore Eternity in the early 90s and loved it. It smells nothing like it now. The new sweet Eternity is not at all the same
Does anyone know if Eternity for men smells more similar to the vintage for women?

I am reviewing this masterpiece again . After trying many gourmand fragrances I have returned to the beautiful embrace of Eterninty…timeless. Nothing smells like it…it is one of a kind. The lasting power and sillage are amazing with only 2 sprays. I always receive compliments from total strangers when wearing this beauty. The slightly sweet peppery blend of carnation and lily of the valley combine with slightly bitter green. sigh. Comforting, sophisticated….timeless classic but please do not over spray…she is powerful!

I can’t add anything new but I’m currently experiencing this blast from the past. This smells like a 1990s teenager/young adult to me! It’s not unpleasant and it’s highly familiar within a time warp. I can definitely see this would smell great on and for the right person. Even though I never personally wore it in my youth, I know those who did (liberally!). I recently acquired an old bottle cheaply and I do enjoy it in moderation – in a nostalgic kind of way. I generally like carnation, and while this carnation is strong it’s enveloped in an artificial sweetness. I also pick up quite a strong summery jasmine, potent lily, and notes that I would liken to very ripe bananas (which I am aware is technically not in the notes) and fruity floral hairspray – but clearly that’s just me! Maybe my old batch is a bit funky.

Eternity is one of a kind. Nothing smells like it. It is sophistication in a bottle.
I have been wearing this classic since it came on the market in 1989 and always come back to it. I have been wearing expensive perfumes but none created the love affair I have with this scent. It is fresh, crisp, clean and oh so unique.I don’t mind that people recognize the scent especially when my children hug me and say: “Oh Mom you smell so like Mom.”

In an ocean of toothache inducing saccharine sweet, cotton candy, caramel, praline, over the top gourmand scent..we are reminded by Eternity of how woman used to smell back then. This is sophistication in a bottle. A charming bouquet of fresh green floral with tender spices and enough zest. So womanly and feminine yet still exuding power and confidence. I cant detect any sort of sweetness in this scent, so I was quite baffled when somebody mentioned that this perfume is sweet. What sweet?? You want sweet..try smelling BS Fantasy or Juicy Coutures.

I got a mini of this as a bonus in a very generous giveaway from Gardendiva. It arrived St. Patrick’s Day morning and I thought as a “green fragrance” it would be perfect for today. And it really is! I forgot how much I love this. 90’s, yes… but also timeless somehow. Any season, any occasion, Eternity is eternal.
One of the only SG fragrances I can actually wear… while I appreciate her work and contributions to perfumery, few of her creations are my jam. Eternity is so different though. It’s clean, fresh, & crisp without being soapy or aquatic. Super Floral without feeling like you got slapped in the face with a bouquet by a disgruntled 1-800-flowers delivery driver. Green without the “eau de I just mowed my lawn” vibe. It’s simply well balanced. I think I appreciate it more now than I did in the 90’s. Glad to have it again and will probably buy a Full bottle. Thanks Garden Diva!!

I just purchased a small bottle of Eternity. I loved and owned many CK fragrances during the 90’s. I’ve been revisiting the fragrances and now again own Obsession, Escape, and Eternity. I still need to buy CK One and Contradiction and my trip down memory lane collection will be complete.
Eternity is such a lovely fresh, green, spicy, and romantic floral. I really love the carnation note and wish more of the newer fragrances had it. Eternity is a timeless classic. Perfection!

This is a solid, respectable fragrance from the great Sophia Grojsman, iconic of it era. True to the pyramid, it’s a sharp green powdery floral with a peppery, spicy undercurrent. It does last an eternity, and it seems to get stronger throughout the day. My nose fatigued of smelling it so I had to wash it off. Sometimes Sophia Grojsman fragrances present like an opaque wall of notes, mainly florals, which are impossible to distinguish from each other. It’s a lot. While I can appreciate Eternity, it’s not something I could wear every day.

I doubt there is anything that I can add that hasn’t been said already by the wonderful and reflective reviews. I think it is safe to say that nearly every perfume lover or even most people in general have smelled this or know someone who wears it. I don’t gravitate to green fragrances to be honest I like fresh florals and while I am not the best at identifying specific flowers I tend to prefer florals that smell more ‘pink’ or ‘yellow’ than green. I know that may sound odd to assign a color to a smell (except green of course) but my mind tends to do that. By pink floral I mean fragrances like Beautiful by Estee Lauder with that sweet floral component and by yellow floral I think of mimosa fragrances for instance. Eternity is very green but not in a way in which it would put off a lot of younger people, for example No 19 by Chanel is green and bitter – not bad at all but is a product of it’s times. This smells very early 90’s to me, when people wore either aquatic or green fragrances (eg: CK One) or like me, were wearing florientals like Lou Lou. I think there are better green fragrances out there (such as Lancome O) as I find this a bit bitter and cloying. I tend to prefer Eternity Moment. Maybe also it’s the fact that I used to smell this everywhere in the 90’s. I don’t dislike it though, so I didn’t hesitate to grab a bottle of 100ml for $10 figuring if I tire of it I can give it away but I like having this classic in my collection.

Wearing a Club Monaco sweatshirt in blush pink and some Mom jeans, with my permed hair pumped up high, I’d spritz this on two or three times and go out with friends around 1990….
Spicy carnations in a clean glass and chrome tower.
Madonna’s music was huge then and I will always associate this with her music. Thumpin’ and bumpin’.
This was very popular by the time I got it in 1991. I received it as a gift from my dad. What a lovely present! I went through a few 100ml bottles.
May try it again. Did try it a couple years ago and it didn’t suit, but the nose can change, happily for us who love fragrance!

I have this, and I’m not sure as to why I’ve never written a review about it. I seldom wear it; not because it’s expensive or because it may be one of those “special occasion” fragrances, but because it’s so beautifully green and floral, that if not used moderately, may cause headaches. It’s such an amazing fragrance as it resembles class and sophistication. I remember growing up in the 90’s when my mother would wear this, and even as a little girl, I was mesmerized. Reminiscent of a Spring day, it’s uplifting, clean, and floral. I love it and I think it will remain a staple in my wardrobe forever.

Here’s another creation by Sophia Grojsman that doesn’t work for me at all. I also have a problem with CK fragrances in general: Obsession, Euphoria etc. – they all smell very synthetic and unpleasant to me. The only CK fragrance I ever owned was One, back in the 1990s, when I was very young and didn’t know better.
On my skin, Eternity turns into a very pungent floral; my first association was ‘graveyard’… This is courtesy of a very strong carnation note, because in my country carnations (and daisies) are sold near graveyards, usually by elderly gypsy women, and bouquets of carnations and daisies are used to decorate the graves. Small wonder then that I’m not too thrilled to find this note in a perfume.
Another tricky flowery note in Eternity is marigold. Now, marigold is a cute flower, but its scent is actually quite unpleasant. Combined with carnation, it adds to this pungent sweaty muskiness of Eternity.

(review from a man, tested on my girlfriend)
It is almost a good fragrance… Almost… The opening with the green note and the slightly peppery freesia and sage is absolut wonderful, but half hour later the flowers overwhelm everything. The accord of carnation and lilly is beautiful, but this part of the fragrance is too flowery with my male nose, and I have some trouble with some accords. The lily of the valley, and narcissus are too much for me, and the narcissus always made me headache and cause nausea. I hate this flower. Without narcissus this could be a very good scent… The base notes are good, the combination of sandalwood, musk and amber is well composed, but nothing spectacular.
    – I guess this one is a classy 4 season daytime scent, very versatile
    – sillage is surprisingly good, longevity around 6-7 hours on skin
    – safe blind buy
    Scent (open, top-mid): 6/10 (x2)
    Scent (drydown, base): 7/10 (x2)
    Sillage: 7/10
    Longevity: 6.5/10

    Versatility: 8/10

I remember when this came out in 1988, I was 16 at the time and mostly wearing Ysatis. There were other florals that I had worn up until that point; Paris, Anais Anais, Tatiana, Barynia, Le Jardin De Max Factor..however, this was different from all of those. Unmistakenly Eternity, it was green and floral and spicy and aquatic and STRONG. You did not wear Eternity, Eternity wore you. Not sure what the current version is like (I do have a mini that’s a few years old that smells strong), but there was no such thing as “lightly” applying this stuff, the sillage, projection and longevity were intense.
I hit a wall with florals after this and moved on to Chanel 19 around age 17/18, but my aunt from Poland was here on an extended visit 1988-1989, and she fell in love with this and it’s been her signature ever since. I remember going to Poland with her the summer of ’89 when she went back. This was during the solidarity movement/ the fall of communism. She and my uncle took me with them the first time they proudly went to vote. I also recall taking a photo at a bank of the exchange rates, thinking it’d be cool to someday in the future look back on what they were, and there was so much corruption and distrust in the air at the time, the bank worker came out and started screaming at me because he thought I was taking the photo for lord know what ill intention. My uncle stuck his hands in his pockets and slid away, pretending he didn’t know me. However my aunt stood right by my side and defended me, let the guy have it, and he backed down and scurried off like a scared spider. You don’t mess with an Eastern European woman who wears Eternity!
This scent will always make me think of her, her pride and her toughness. It’s a perfume I respect and admire, despite my trepidation with strong florals after wearing this myself for a couple of years. I don’t think I could handle it now, but it’s one of the most memorable perfumes from that era for me.

    Eternity Then & Now
I wore Eternity through the 90s when it was still very popular. This was a daily fragrance I wore to work as a public educator. I received compliments mainly from other women – on the street, in the grocery store, at school, at Church. This is a very elegant floral with a demure womanly aura. It’s soapy and clean fresh and very romantic. The scent is easy to wear if you’re already used to floral fragrances. If you aren’t accustomed to florals and prefer gourmands or celebrity candy stuff, this is going to come off as mature or too strong. But for us ladies who love flowers this is heaven.
The opening notes consist of citruses and sage, green notes and marigold. This is a very lovely intro which to me smells like walking into a flower shop and catching whiffs of the plants and flowers not at a distance but not that close to you either. At times this scent reminds me of Estee Lauder Pleasures which has that same catching whiffs of flowers air. The green notes are very nice and remind me of plants. The sage is noticeable but it’s multi floral with so many lovely flowers, almost as many and discernible as Houbigant Quelques Fleurs or Estee Lauder Beautiful. The flowers that I can smell every time both then and now (I wear both the vintage and the newer one) are marigold, rose, freesia, jasmine, heliotrope, carnation, violet, lily of the valley and narcissus. These are namely white flowers so this is a very sedate white floral. Without a big jasmine or gardenia/tuberose this is more a clean soft white floral with prominent lily notes. A well made patchouli leaf is noticeable as it begins to dry.
The dry down is green clean and very soapy. The patchouli’s herbal side emerges and mingles with amber and a bit of wood. The scent lasts a very long time and has excellent sillage. The trick is not to put too much of it on. It’s the most floral of the Sophia Grojsman creations in my opinion. Usually she has the same flower of heliotrope carnation rose jasmine but this one is centered around lily and I love lily. The heliotrope here is not as prominent and seems to want to replace a vanilla note. This is a very nice green floral and has a retro charm I love. I still wear this fragrance to work and have such a fondness for it that I can’t live without it.

I don’t like nor I dislike this one. It is definitely a spring day fragrance and very fresh. Every top notes are very easily recognized in this one. To me, it smells like smashed grass with freesia. It simply smells green ! If green has a smell, this is the one!
It has a feeling of timeless and of unique freshness.
Attention ! definitely not a girly fragrance. This is perfect for a woman between 30-35 years who is very neat/ clean and calm. It’s not for a complex woman.
    The persistence: 8/10
    Silage 7/10
Please note that I am new in testing and reviewing fragrances so that my reviews are not pro at all.

First time I smelled this was on my wedding day .. the assisstant girl who helped me in doing my hair was wearing it on.. I asked her and she told me that she had mix it with her spray deodorant. It was so dreamy fragrance. When I bought it after 6 months ..the first time I put it on, I felt that it was synthetic and annoying but when it took its time it got better. I cant say that I love it ..but I feel that I need to wear it. Its good and green. Maybe because I used to put on sweet and ambery scents and I need that green sense from time to time. I dont regret buying it but I may not buy it again when I finish it.

Oh how I love this! I am not very good at articulating notes so I will do my best to describe this intoxicating fragrance. It has a lovely sillage that gently makes a statement with out being overpowering. It is soft, sophisticated and timeless. There are gentle florals with a dash of spice on sweet sandalwood It has a powdery dry down. It seems to last and last. I have the vintage version and am not sure if it differs from the new one.

This perfume is a very well balanced white floral, green and slightly aquatic perfume that presents the dewy, slightly sourish, delicate freesia as the star of the show. For anyone wondering what this unique flowers smells like and lives in San Francisco, just last week, I was at Trader Joes and they had fresh cut freesia bouquets for sale. It has a slight sour plumlike smell with fresh delicate dewy flowers scent; once you smell it you won’t forget it.
Freesia is hard to find as star note in most floral perfumes and if managed badly could ruin a perfume but Eternity manages to blend all the other floral notes so well that it allows the freesia to shine without being monotonously boring.

I still cannot get over the variations with this fragrance depending on the type of bottle you have!
Ive purchased for the 5th time a new bottle today. All have been nice some less sweet some longer lasting than others. This one i pick up on lots of violet and its intense. Ive had both ones Made in US vs France. The one from France has been ‘greener’ otherwise similar.
No 5 is another scent that where ive noticed even more variation per concentration (edp, edt and parfum).
Eternity was a love when in was in my teens and i still love it after the reformulations.

Im just having terrible luck with perfume lately. I thought I would try a classic. This smells like cough medicine in the bottle and on my skin. It never changes or developes. I was expecting some & really wanting white floral but I get nothing but cough medicine.

I got it as a present and I wasn’t quite sure about it. However I’ve bought more since so even though I’m still not sure what I like about it, I do. It smells clean but spicy at the same time on me and all in an unshowy way. It smells kind of effortless in that regard

A very no-nonsense scent for women. When smelling this I picture myself on a meadow field, with only a handful of flowers. Smelling single flowers here and there.
The smell is not piercing – it’s nicely mild and it smells very balanced.
I like it. I’d say this fragrance goes for about any situation. Weddings, work, night life…

This was my first grown-up perfume! My first brush was with the lotion – my mother received it as a present from her sister, but passed it onto me as it wasn’t particularly to her taste. I had just started high school, and was blown away by how grown-up this perfume made me feel. It gave me a much-needed confidence boost and mood-lift. On me, the lotion was champagne-sweet, with fresh violet and a rich, blooming rose note. Totally joyful and uplifting. My mother was blown away by how much the scent seemed to complement my chemistry!
I’ve just revisited the EDP, 10 years later! Now, thanks to probable reformulation, I find this scent MUCH cooler than it used to be. The warm champagne-fizz has somewhat gone iced, and the aquatic green note is also extremely noticeable upon first spray. My skin recently has started to amplify any aquatic note whatsoever and white florals, so I’m somewhat sad to see the departure of the noticeable rose I loved so much in this scent during my high school days, but overall the impression of Eternity remains much the same, if somewhat chilled. The drydown is a very pleasant, sweet white floral, but not cloying as so many of today’s sweet florals tend to be. It’s a little on the “sunscreen” side of things, but I rather enjoy that, personally.
I’m a fan of L’Air du Temps as well, but given the “temperature difference” between these two blossoming carnations, L’Air being very warm, and Eternity being chilled, if you’re a carnation fan, these scents are quite effective for seasonal rotation.

  46. :

Eternity is clean and timeless. It’s well-blended, such that no single note dominates. There is just an overall bright, fresh, flowery smell of some sort! Haha. I can’t really describe what it smells like! Nice in spring and summer, but would work year-round, I think. Would suit a variety of professional and social occasions, except for maybe romantic occasions – it doesn’t scream “date night” to me. It lasts a good 7 or 8 hours on my skin, and it projects very well. It’s not fussy, frilly, or attention-seeking, it’s just a nice all-purpose fragrance to have in your wardrobe. I think it’s probably a safe blind buy, but since it’s so widely available to test, it would be wise do so.

Some years ago, I had the honor of living with and caring for my late Uncle Bill, who wore the men’s version and gave me this one. I will always think of him when I wear it, and for that reason alone it will always be a part of my perfume wardrobe.
It smells like casual elegance to me, a fragrance that can be dressed up or down. A gorgeous, complex sheer floral typical of 90’s scents, this one is a beautiful example of what a woman’s floral perfume should smell like. My beloved uncle is gone now, but I can relive that time with him whenever I want by going to this beautiful perfume.
Sillage: Moderate to enormous (use a light hand!)
Scent: Delightful; floral but complex. Ageless. Classic. Blooming, clear, beautiful.
Lasting power: pretty damn good. (several hours).
    Sentimental value (for me): Priceless.

This and Sun Moon Stars? Not a chance. I have used both extensively, and as much as I love them both I would never think of a comparison – SMS is a vanilla-carnation wonder with fruits, amber and heliotrope, Eternity is a fresh and uplifting white flowery-green number with carnation to assist, on me anyway. To me it has always smelled like drinking champagne and eating fresh pears with vanilla cream sitting in the middle of a lovely spring flower garden! 😀 It was one of my first `fancy` perfumes, and even to this day smelling it on others makes me smile..It`s flowery and fresh green at the same time – similar type to Issey Miyake`s Eau d` Issey, although the two otherwise don`t resemble – but both have the floweriness and freshness without any unnecessarily added sweetness. Great for the warmer months. A true 90`s classic with staying power. A must-try if you want something non-candy.

Wowzas, where to even start with this one huh? Calvin Klein was where it all began for me, back in the 90s and early 2000s. My grandmother collected a small amount of fragrances at any given time and CK One was one of her many perfumes when I was around 5. She purchased the pack and gave me the mini 50mL splash bottle. I wore it every day to primary school. I eventually saved up to get CK Be. I gave up on the cheaper fragrances, like the Calvin Klein ones, in my late teens but now, in my early 20s, I’m back! and so is CK, with a vengeance it seems.
Accumulating quite a few slightly expensive designer fragrances (like Dior, Chanel, YSL & Guerlain), I decided to go back into the cheaper realm and found that not only are some just as amazing, but actually blend really well with the slightly more expensive ones.
I blind bought Eternity, not knowing what to expect, and found it to be quite sweet and mildly clinical (to both agree with the reviewer below me, and say that I’m one of those people who experiences the clinical accords mentioned). I also noticed the lily of the valley that made me think of Chanel’s No. 19!
No. 19 EDP and Eternity seem to go hand in hand with one another. It’s a match made in grassy, wet mildewy plant heaven. 19 offers a little more sophistication via it’s realistic vetiver and hand bag like leather, maybe with a bit of tobacco whereas Eternity feels very clean and a little sweet. Combined, something happens to make it smell like a very well put together man/woman. There’s aspects of youth and absolute maturity that just blow me away. There’s a slight plasticy note that follows over from Eternity, but that’s easy to put to the side.
Calvin Klein perfumes are wonderful for blending, simply because they last a long time and smell beautiful. Placed with another high end fragrance, the longevity and sillage are thrown into hyper drive. I highly suggest this mixed with either No.19 or a dab of Diorissimo.

Why does this turn sweet on me? Nobody can tell im wearing eternity it doesnt smell clinical like it is supposed to. Very strange. I like it in small doses but what starts off and what dries down on me are 2 different things. On everyone else you can tell they are wearing eternity on me its more like eternity moment version wtf??:) By the way, do not I emphasize,do not blind buy or buy as a gift if you are not sure what the person likes and like red door, do not overspray it is way too strong for that. Mist it a distance from your skin and it settles beautifully.

    First of all:
I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS IS A PERFUME FROM 1988! I sampled Eternity for the first time a month ago. I was shopping at a department store and came across this beautiful, simple, elegant bottle of green perfume, as a lover of fresh/green fragrances I quickly took the bottle of Eternity and sampled it on my skin! WOW!! Loved it since that first spray!! I can’t describe the scent,it’s just so beautiful, it’s so floral, so white, clean,so delicate, soft and soapy…it smells like those expensive soap bars that come beautifuly wrapped.I can smell the lily of the valley, so clean..
I left the store surrounded by that gorgeous scent, it stayed on my skin for so long. I was convinced it was a NEW PERFUME! I was so surprised when I searched online and saw it was made in 1988!! This smells beautiful! Not out dated at all! I was expecting a perfume from those years to smell quite old ladyish, but this does not! I even prefered it over another Eternity that was on display next to this, called Eternity Now, which was also nice, but this was even more beautiful! Now I am waiting for my own Eternity perfume to arrive! I would decribe this scent like an elegant, inocent, peaceful and radiant women of all ages, yes, I think this is suitable for any age as its simply a gorgeous clean/floral scent. I’m on my late 20’s and love it. If you love clean, white florals, you need to try this gem from the 80’s!!
