This is the story of a world traveler’s love of Far Eastern scents. His work as a perfumer has taken Egon Oelkers to Cannes, New York, Geneva, Paris and Hamburg, but he has primarily been formed as a person by his journeys to the Asia. Here he has repeatedly encountered the sophisticated spices, fruit scents and rare woods that in a subtle way are to be found again in many of his fragrances.

Egon Oelkers looks back on a career meanwhile spanning almost 40 years. The graduate chemist commenced training as a perfumer with the long-established Haarmann & Reimer company in Holzminden in 1967. Oelkers has since achieved renown not simply with his creations, but though a parallel dedication to training a new generation of perfumers.

Oelkers’ compositions are notable for their discreet luxury and fine balance of fragrances. Extensive hikes in the mountains are his most frequent source of inspiration.

For Thorsten Biehl, Egon Oelkers has created three perfumes in the biehl. parfumkunstwerke gallery: warming eo01, classic, select eo2, and extravagant eo03. eo01 was launched in 2007.

I’ve tried just about all the unisex scents for the biehl parfumkunstwerke line. This one is in my top 3 picks for this house.
This reminds me of Dam Tao by Diptyque but less dry and more sweet, probably because of the coconut and stryax that EO01 offers. Both Tam Dao and EO01 have the same Brazilian rosewood and sandalwood which gives it almost the same woody character in the base.
I don’t get the citrus in this at all. To my nose I get a sweet, powdery, woody composition. This stuff can bat well for either team, man or woman. I’d say a woman can wear this all day, everyday. A man could probably do the same but I would suggest layering it with something else if going out to the pubs or clubs. I personally think EO01 (Egon Oelkers) layered with GS03 (Geza Schoen) is a killer-combo a little Egon/Geza remix, if you will.
My advice to the wearer of this juice is to wear it plain during the day (women) or layer it during the evening (men). I think this could be a year-round scent. The coconut makes this a good spring/summer choice and the sandalwood makes it a good fall/winter choice.
*Longevity 5/10 I think it gets very light and close to the skin after 5 hours.
*Projection 6/10 When you first put this on it will notify the room but after the first 3 hours it quiets down
*Hot or cold weather, all day, layered evening

    123)Pure comfort,
vanilla amber cottony with a rigorous maintenance. As a senior military officer slumped in a Napoleon III sofa, charming blend of neo-baroque debauchery and uniform presence.
Perfect for a well-dressed man (classic).
    Pur confort,

The best Organza Indecence smell a like I have come across. The quality of ingredients sets this apart and is really what makes this the most like OI then any of the others out there that claim to be similar. Enjoy!

This is a different oriental, more modern, and I am loving it. I think this is what Oriental Lounge wanted to be, but didn’t get there.
I especially like the pimiento/paprika note in the drydown of the scent. It balances the fruits and keeps everything blending perfectly with the woods and resins. Well done, Mr. Oelkers!

EO 01 is an amazing spicy oriental fragrance. Quite complex and elegant but easy to wear and discreet. Don’t let the word “discreet” mislead you, as with the proper amount of EO 01 spryed on ypur body you can fill a room, but you fill it with a gentle and soave (almost candid) sweet allure generated by a strong sandalwood base together with vanilla, nutmeg, tonka beans, amber, patchouli, cinnamon and other sweet-spicy juxtapositions.
The secret behind EO 01’s unique character is the mastery with which Mr Oelkers perfectly balanced all this elements to create an incredible harmony between them. A comfortable, almost familiar smell, but a really good one. EO 01 can be considered as a great example of a classic fragrance revised with a (very) modern twist.
While I think EO 01 is more on the feminine side, I guess it could do pretty well also on the right man.

To me this is more like a tamed version of Ambre Sultan/Arabie.
Opens with juicy dried fruits (not citrusy as the notes would suggest), with some apricot and some coconuts.
On me the heart notes don’t seem to evolve, I simply do not get any flowers or pimento, more like woody notes.
Drydown comes with lots of amber (yum!) and cedar, touched up with just a little almonds/vanilla/tonka/cinnamon and finally settles down into very fine silk-powdered almonds.
I find this quite classy and good-for-all occasions.
One cannot go wrong with this one, being feminine, subtle with a little dzing.

As soon as eo01 touched my skin, I was like, ‘OMG I love it!’ It’s so warm and comfy, it’s like a beautiful silky yet heart-warming refined combination. The tangerine is definetely there but not too citrusy, I can smell the coconut, apricot and nuts combo, sweet, juicy and warm in a Xmas-y slightly gourmand way, which strangely (in a wonderful way) smells kinda like cinnamon.
I cannot pick up much iris, but got a suprise, Black Orchid! That’s what I got, Tom Ford’s Black Orchid! I tried it once, and eo01 reminds me a lot of it, but in a warmer, a little bit more almondy, and less orchid-aggressive way.
Later on it dries down to some kinda Black Orchid plus sensual vanilla scent, with a little bit slightly powdery undertone.
eo01 is really comfy, warm and beautiful for winter. Highly recommond to those who love something has cafe-type foody sweetness, morden spiciness and warmth.

The name is a little off-putting, since the word “kunst” has connotations of “synthetic” as well as “art”, so I was a little apprehensive when sampling this, making sure I was alone in the house in case the worst happened. I was expecting something full of weird aldehydes or worse, but no, it’s not in the least “kunstlich” or offensive. This starts out as a yin-yang fragrance, with both the spicy and the sweet, each dancing alone in a different corner. This phase is absolutely gorgeous. I like the shimmering separateness of the two streams, which eventually unite in a sweet tonka/vanilla-rich oriental with a prominent sandalwood base. It’s a modern perfume that seems classic, well-blended and complex. The sillage is good but not overpowering. The scent lasts about 8-10 hours. This could be yet another one of those perfumes that I could wear on a regular basis, for just about any occasion, a “default” that I put on when I don’t want to think. Oh no! – Am I going to need another decant?

this is too similar to Organza Indecence to warrant having both, although this could be worn by a man, and actually probably suits a male better. With OI on one wrist and eo on the other, I could barely smell this. OI has a slight sharpness to it that eo doesnt have. If you cant find OI, then this might be a good substitute.

A lovely blend of oranges, cardamom, vanilla and coconut that doesn’t wear well on me. It gets sort of alcoholic as it dries and then develops a sharp woody rasping note that comes up as very abrasive and fake-foody. I had to scrub it off in the end.
