I sprayed this on at Kohl’s this evening having been curious about this collection. I accidentally sprayed a bit much and then had to drive an hour with myself.
I kept smelling my hand hoping it changed and it did a bit. I find it almost nauseating and can’t wait to scrub it off now that I’m home. It is a sickeningly fake smelling vanilla with hints of a rather tart rose to me. Could be my chemistry, but doubt that is it entirely. Not for me…..

I layered this with sexual sugar, expecting sugared roses. Instead, the fruits in each perfume really synergize when combined for some reason. Interesting. I’m getting a lot of blueberries and oranges, each perfume by itself does not smell fruity to me. I find the best ratio to be 1:2, using twice as much rosebuds as sexual sugar

True to its name, this fragrance is a very equal blend of rose and vanilla. The result, unfortunately, is sickeningly sweet. Think bathroom soap mixed with custard. Although its sillage may be light, the sweetness almost immediately triggers a headache. There is nothing particularly sophisticated about this fragrance and it disappears after an hour or two.

Very pretty, light and sweet rose. I like it a lot but wish it was a lot stronger…. I do have fragrance eating skin, but even so this sits really close to the skin and doesn’t last very long. I haven’t tried the body spray (is there even one in this particular scent? I know the others have one…) but the sillage and longevity are pretty much what I would anticipate from a body spray, not the EDT. Luckily the bottle is small enough that you could bring it along to respray, I guess..! I’m glad to have it but I will keep looking for something like this but stronger.

Omg !!! Ladies and gentlemen if you were looking for an intoxicating.. Rosy sweet scent it’s right here !! Out of the whole Embrace collection, this has to the best smelling one .. it’s soft .. sexy .. the kind of scent that’s great for work , an especially great if your going to be close to some …. like skin to skin close

  6. :

This is really pretty. Light citrus, roses and vanilla. It’s actually lighter than most body sprays though and I barely get 2 hours of scent from it. It’s ideal for work, or other places where scents with sillage is an issue.
It’s also a good one to put on right before bed.
I don’t think I’ll repurchase it because I want something a bit stronger.

This smells exactly like rose flavoured turkish delight, in the box and covered under a layer of icing sugar! And it stays like that for a good while. Some time later it starts to settle and resemble something like Damask rose body cream or lotion ( i got some stuff from Bulgaria and this is very similar). So, if you want potent, sugary rose – here you go!

Has a subtlety and grace often lacking in this type of designer perfume. Maybe not an overpowering favorite of mine, but wearable. (Which is saying a lot; I’m having a hard time finding actually wearable fragrances in modern markets, despite all my experimental sniffing for this website.)

Ty southern blond for the schooling on magnolia. Lol. I was wondering what the non citrich tartness was coming from. Now I understand. I don’t get much vanilla from this though

No wows but very sweet and pretty fruity floral from Wal-Mart at an insanely affordable price of under 10 dollars, one of many in a Vera Wang Embrace line. Vera is my favorite line and I was a fan of her Princess line for years. Princess was for the younger crowds and Embrace is for the more mature crowds. This is a mommy scent for sure with a delicious mandarin orange citrus aroma as it opens which segues into rose and magnolia my 2 favorite flowers. Magnolia has a lemony scent so it blends with the citrus. The rose too has a citrusy scent so all these scents are joined by rose. This is a rose perfume true to it’s name.
It’s linear and has a short life and smells like an addition to your shampoo hair conditioner or body lotion. This is a sweet after bath or shower scent for your day. Office friendly and very soft and not offensive or atomic. A light mist. The fragrance dries as all fragrances do and this time it turns into a very basic gourmand vanilla soft and creamy even powdery with some musk and light wood/sandalwood. Mostly it’s vanilla. It’s quite powdery. So ultimately this is a simple citrusy rose vanilla powder. It’s easy to wear and very casual. I wear it when I don’t want to make any statement or entrance in casual blouses shirts and minis/sundresses. Not terribly sophisticated but very pretty feminine and charming.

i only smell madarin orange, which is my hated scent.

This is pretty soft rose and vanilla. I really like it I just wish the longevity and sillage were better. I enjoy it but probably wont rebuy because of poor performance. I actually have to layer it with Perfumers Workshop Tea Rose to feel like I can even smell anything after a couple of hours.

Well if it had Bergamot and Amber it’d remind me more of Hot Couture but to me it belongs in the same “sweet (jam-like sweet) yet sophisticated” category. But I do get some of the Mandarin(the only fruit in the composition!), it’s an unexpected lovely twist. Overall this is very woody to my nose. When I was little we used to visit in Late April our winter abode in a green suburb of Athens close to the mountain. It was still chilly there, the house was in the pine forest and my mom made rose sweet(we cook the rose petals – we use the 100 petal pink or red roses for it- in sugar with rose water it’s basically rose jam, only richer we eat it on its own or add it on vanilla ice cream), so the combo of the wood smell and this “rose dessert” is contained in this fragrance that’s why it was love at first spray for me. Perfect chilly weather scent. Longevity on me is fantastic.

I absolutely love this! Very different from what I imagined. Blended so perfectly. Just enough of both rose and vanilla. the rose is the sweetest rose ever! Almost like a candied rose. Quite similar to MOR Marshmallow. I dont recommend if you dont like sweet scents. It’s musky, rosey, vanillary, with a small hint of sandalwood. Quite strangely, it goes perfectly with Shalimar! I’m even more pumped about how cheap this is! I could honestly see this becoming one of my top 5 favorites. I am typically not a fan of florals, EXCEPT rose. I love rose perfumes as well. This is not linear at all, IMO. there is a lot going on, just blended very well, with an obvious rose and vanilla dry down. Vera Wang hit this one out of the park.
For those that think this IS juvenille or linear, well… it’s not supposed to be some niche perfume with 43535 notes in it. It’s just rose buds and vanilla. Very simple. Name says it all. I also think it’s perfect for any age.
    Love!!

To be honest, Rosebuds and Vanilla looked and sounded so boring that I almost didn’t try it. Some of these reviews make it sound really juvenile and basic, so it wasn’t on my radar. But I did get around to sampling and was shocked.
This is not just a dull rose and vanilla powder! There is a cedar-like nip and something almost boozey that I find very unique about this!
In fact, I am terrible at detecting rose notes unless a fragrance is almost a rose soliflore, and had I not read the word “Rose buds” I’m not sure I would know!
It seems like a hypnotically sweet, a bit powdery spicy-woody rose. I have nothing else like it. This is now in my top favorite florals. Seems like a winter or fall pick for me with that boozy, spicy vanilla and woods. Now I am VERY curious about the rest of the Embrace series.

I won the whole entire collection in a giveaway and fell in love with all of them. Embrace Rose Buds and Vanilla is truly a favorite of mine. It’s inexpensive but screams classy. I can totally smell the rose , vanilla and magnolia notes. I recommend this scent to any one who likes rose top notes.

Had this at the beginning of my fragrance journey,,swapped it,and reordered it. Its a lovely rose vanilla that just smells adorable!

I actually think the bottle is rather cute, even with the simple metal cube that functions as the lid!!
As for the fragrance, it’s a little generic, but pretty. Pleasant and doesn’t assault the nostrils. I also like the fact that the fragrance is relatively affordable and easy to find. All in all, not a bad fragrance but nothing special.

This is opens as a rose dominated scent , with vanilla sharing equal time, a light sandalwood and musk appear in the drydown, I really liked this scent, affordable, crisp and beautiful.

Re-adding my review since I was not signed in below…
I’m not drawn to florals and generally never, ever wear them. This one is different, or maybe I just found I like rose, or both. This is not sweet, powdery or overpowering. (I may have just learned the difference in powdery and soft). As soon as this dries on my skin the sandalwood comes barely peeking out from under the rose and vanilla. I know… call me weird, in this it reminds me of cedar shavings/bedding I used in my hamster cage as a kid. This is a beautiful smell and in no way offensive or overpowering. I love it.
So, to my nose, this fragrance is mainly rose, vanilla, then the slight cedar-ish smell. After the first 30 mins or so, it sits fairly close to my skin.
This is lovely. I am surprised at how much I like it.

I spritzed this on my arm at the drugstore today. I get no roses, only vanilla and lots of powder. This is nice, but smells nothing like I hoped it would. This would probably layer well with smoky, boozy scents.

I got this perfume for my birthday along with another Vera Wang Embrace fragrance. This is a creamy rose. When I first spray it, the rose is a little sharp, but becomes creamier as it settles. I wish there was more musk, as it is more powdery, but this is a light and very feminine scent.

My daughter got this for Yule. It’s pretty. Very appropriate for a young teenager.

  24. :

Oh this is just beautiful! The edt doesn’t really last long on its own, but pairing it with the lotion helps! The opening smells just like real, beautiful, red roses in full bloom. After a few minutes the vanilla kicks in. It is a skin scent even with the lotion, but I could smell it when I put my nose to my wrist for about 6 hours. It’s soft and romantic and very feminine. I love it. Now I want to try the others in the Embrace collection!

  25. :

I’m in love with the embrace collection, i was searching for a simple but clean scents last spring and vera wang provided that.
Rosy, vanilla, musk in that order!
At first it’s a little overwhelming but the drydown is a rosy creamy vanilla scent…I LOVE IT!

  26. :

    5 out of 5

The beauty of Vera Wang’s Embrace lies in its subtlety. At first sniff, I nearly dismissed it as too simplistic. But the drydown took my breath away. The rose vanilla tendrils are like a lover whispering the most intimate declarations in your ear: that you are beautiful, deeply loved, cherished. Just lovely.

  27. :

    3 out of 5

The best word to describe this scent is cute. It feels very youthful. I do not get much of the notes besides rose and vanilla. Sadly the rose sours on my skin during the opening. Other than that I like it. Performance wise this is weak, but it’s cheap so *shrug*.

This one makes me smell like cookies, in a good way 🙂
Both on my skin and fabric I don’t pick up any rose at all, only a loud vanilla and a hint of jasmin. But I like it still. It’s inoffensive and a safe choice for office. My ten year old loves to smell it on me and said, “You smell like my favourite cookies!”. Loved it. I’ll be wearing it often 🙂

  30. :

The more I wear this the more I like it. I really really adore it. It’s equal parts velvety pink rose petals and creamy vanilla on me. No one note stands out over the other. The vanilla brings the sweetness, of course, but not in a foody way. This is another one I think even vanilla haters might enjoy. I typically wear this to bed, but lately I’ve been using it during the day as I’ve been craving it. I suppose the weather here has made that happen.
Longevity is 8+ hours on clothes, and projection is decent for the first hour or two.
If you like roses and vanilla, this is for you. I think it would be hard not to like it.
This is actually what I had wished Mancera Roses Vanille smelled like, and I find it amazing that I got this at less than a quarter of Mancera’s price.

EMBRACE Rosebuds & Vanilla is a pleasant and modest sort of fragrance that I sometimes wear when relaxing at home. At first spray, I find the scent a tad sharp in the way the smell of soap can be, but it becomes softer and more creamy on dry-down. The dominant notes for me are the rose and vanilla of the name, but the vanilla is quiet and not sweet or foody. Sillage is moderate and it lasts 5 or 6 hours. It’s not one of my favorites, but it’s nice for what it is.

  32. :

I really like this, for the price. It’s a good everyday, safe, clean, pretty and feminine scent for any occasion. I am not sure how it will do in the summer on my skin as I tried this in winter…
As far as being similar to ‘Rose The One’? Hmmm… Yes and no. I think because there is the rose scent as more prominent then yes they resemble each other but ‘Rose The One’ is more rose where ‘VW Embrace’ to me, anyway, is a back and forth of rose and vanilla with vanilla coming out more. (I do not get the vanilla to come out to play on my skin, in ‘Rose The One’ at all)
I went to see if I could find the clearance set with the body wash and lotion they had out for Christmas and they were all sold out. Bummer!

  33. :

The first time I smelled Vera Wang’s Rose Buds & Vanilla I was in love and I was so surprised at how decent the price was! The rose reminded me of the way roses usually smell in expensive niche perfumes with iris adding just a touch of powder. The vanilla is perfectly sweet and I detect some musk and magnolia lingering in the background. I would highly recommend this to gourmand rose lovers! I sincerely hope that they start selling this in bigger bottles and in eau de parfum or pure parfum form!

Upon first spray, I didn’t like this scent. It was too strong of a boozy rose. However, after it dried down, the scent became something intoxicatingly delicious! The rose and vanilla exist in harmonious perfection. Really a beautiful scent, and it lasts a long time.

My late grandmother used to buy tins of super expensive, gourmet turkish delight. Not the chocolate kind. They were big cube-shaped rose and vanilla jellies covered in powdered sugar. This perfume reminds me so much of the beautiful smell left in the tin long after the turkish delight had disappeared.

Tried this one and at first sniff I instantly got the rose then it turned into vanilla it does smell like the name implies and not in a good way. To me it reminds me of those little soaps in shapes that no one uses in a dish in the bathroom and not in a good way. I wanted to wash it off as soon as possible but gave it more time and nope I just can’t,its a sickening smell to me.

  37. :

I actually REALLY like this one for the simple fact it smells exactly like the name implies. Rose and vanilla. Soft, sweet and simple, I have been wearing this to work since I bought a bottle for $15 last week. Even my mum loves it and is already trying to steal my bottle! We both adore Stella and whilst this is by no means even close to the beauty of Stella, it is a lovely soft, playful rose scent. I have started layering this with other perfumes and on sale it’s just a bargain fragrance in my opinion.

EDITED 2 September 2016: I’ve had this tucked away behind some other bottles for a while, thinking every now and then, ‘I must get you out again soon’. Well, I finally did today and OMG – somehow I forgot how GOOD this is! Actually, not just good – but if I start throwing out superlatives I won’t stop lol. I so, so love this perfume. *happy sigh*
    ***
I get the merest hint of rose before it disappears under a stinky white flower – first try, I was about to wash my arm but waited a bit longer. Suddenly, I was hit by a smooth yet sharp vanilla that took me straight to how I think Hypnotic Poison smells on other people but not me! I am overjoyed by this little gem – even better, it was a $15AUD blind-buy.

What a cute and winsome fragrance. I wasn’t sure what to expect, considering what Coty Prestige has done to the brand. While it is not as luxurious as the classic line in the bell-shaped bottles, I did find it attractive enough to be noticed. Who doesn’t like rose, sandalwood and vanilla? What’s disappointing is that Rose Buds & Vanilla is a full-bodied impression of Philosophy’s Creamy Vanilla (exclusive to Sephora). Philosophy is ironically under Coty Prestige also, but I am partial to the Vera Wang formula. This is a very pleasant date night fragrance, as I find it intimate and refreshing.

It is quite lovely! It is very soft, pretty, and feminine. Definitely nailed the balance of rose and vanilla. I’d describe it as innocently romantic, yet comforting. I feel like if I was a princess in a fairy tale, I’d wear this, lol. It’s not extremely complex, but if you love these notes, I’d highly recommend it.

Embrace Rose Buds and Vanilla is, for me, a small bouquet of pink roses sliding across a handful of Madagascar vanilla pods, while a warm breeze gently wafts the scent of far-away orange blossoms. Love it! It is understated and simple, yet elegant and has nothing odd to distract from its beauty.
I have to admit that I didn’t appreciate it much at first, but the way the rose and vanilla lingers, develops, and melds for 4 to 6 hours on my skin is a delight. It is quickly becoming one of my favorites and is really a joyful, fresh perfume.
This one hinges, maybe even more so than many others, on the interaction between the perfume and the chemistry of the wearer. Where other popular perfumes smell rank or stale, or even plainly synthetic and chemical on me, this one is light, slightly creamy, and very pretty.

  43. :

Meh. Such a shame, as the bottle and the pink juice are so pretty and classic. This opened up harshly on my skin with a blast of vanilla. I never really got the roses, which was disappointing. The vanilla is too sweet for my taste. It has lasted almost 5 hours on me, long enough for the musk to come through, with a little sandalwood. Basically, to me this smells like vanilla and musk, which I like to remain in the background in my fragrances. I agree with others that it smells somewhat cheap. I have gotten much more enjoyment from a less expensive pink juice that also has rose, vanilla, musk and wood notes: Sirene, by Vicky Tiel.

I bought this blind, given a great price at Target, and finding Vera Wang to be well-constructed fragrances. Alas, I was hoping for more rose in this fragrance, but I mostly smell vanilla, from beginning to end. That said, it still is a nice fragrance, quite long-lasting, nothing bitter or offensive. Just not much rose to my nose. However, if you want a soft floral vanilla with staying power, you’ll love it and the price. Prettier than Vanilla Fields. The bottle is pretty too.

I got this as a pick-me-up gift from my BFF after a series of bad news doctor appointments. I accepted mostly because I knew it didn’t cost her an arm and a leg at Target. I’d read the reviews before and wasn’t sure I’d like it. D&G Rose The One is too candy like to me and an artificial kind of sweet that I just don’t like. With comparisons to that, I had decided I wouldn’t buy it for myself, no matter the price! But as a gift? How could I turn it down?
I actually like it! A lot! It is rosey is a pure and simple way, not candy sweet and not powdery grandma. It’s fresh and just how is want rose to smell! And the addition of the vanilla just really hits the mark imo. It brings a natural sweetness that isn’t quite gourmand or fakey sugary, but calm and light. The rose definitely takes center stage on my skin, which probably saves it from becoming Vanilla Fields-esque, thank goodness. It isn’t groundbreaking, it isn’t extravagant nor is it overly high quality, but it’s really nice and I enjoy it. It is the right rose for me where others have failed for just being too much- Ombré Rose, Drole de Rose, etc. Those are groundbreaking, classy, extravagant and high quality but they were too much of a statement. This is just easy going, pleasant, wearable and enjoyable. Yay!

  46. :

I liked the opening of this fragrance: a strong, almost boozy rose, like a turkish delight. However, it quickly fades away into the vanilla and wood. So, essentially, it becomes a smell-alike of Warm Vanilla Sugar from Bath and Body Works. No thanks! I got so sick of that scent about 15 years ago.
UPDATE: I revisited this scent much later and perhaps my chemistry changed or I found a better bottle? I find it holds on longer to the rose note and the vanilla is smoother. Sometimes the sweetness of this fragrance can get a bit nauseating, I’m not sure why. I wanted to like it, but it’s a no for me.

  47. :

Sweet crunchy vanilla with hints of rose essence, this is a floral gourmand that is not super sickly.
I tested all three in this collection today, and Rose Buds and Vanilla was the only one that impressed me. I wouldn’t buy it for myself, but it would make a lovely present. This to me is a fragrance for a sweet young lady – my fifteen year old niece would love this.

    Interesting
Opens with a sparkle like Rose The One.
Dries down to smell like Taylor by Taylor Swift.
Finally lasts as a similar smell to vanilla fields.
    I like it.

For the money this fragrance is a winner!!!!! Smells very similar to D&G Rose The One. I went back and forth with this fragrance for about 1 week before deciding it is a “must have” I typically don’t like the girl next door scents and prefer deeper scents with patchouli. Let me tell you this is a keeper. The opening is very true to her name. Rose and then within seconds rose is cuddled and warmed with vanilla. This is a very comforting scent and also resembles slightly of Tea Rose without the Roses on top of Roses smell. She is not complex very simple.
Hubby likes this one too ; )

I saw these for about $27 at Walmart – they had a tester so I tried it. I found the opening very LOUD…the rose comes through in the middle and I do strongly agree that it smells like Rose The One towards the middle. I didn’t buy it, solely because I already have Rose The One, but this would make a great dupe!

The entire Embrace collection smells cheap to me. Rose and Vanilla sounds like something right up my alley, but it reminds me of an alcoholic beverage. I’ve tested this one twice. I wanted to fall in love, but I didn’t.

I love love LOVE this fragrance! It’s so romantic and feminine, and different from any other scent I have in my collection. Powdery warm vanilla and sweet rose, a touch of musk and iris, and detectable sandalwood in the dry down. I sprayed this on to test and walked around the store with my nose pressed up to my wrist and decided I needed to own it. Love love love. I could see this becoming a favorite for me 🙂

This is a really nice inexpensive smelling rose and vanilla. Very similar to trukish delight like fragrances but with a tiny bit of oud added even though not listed. To me this is a cross between kilian love and viktor and rolf rose explosion. The lasting power is not so great seems like its gone after two hours.
