Description

Mont Blanc launches its new masculine fragrance Emblem, together with its modified version Emblem Intense in spring of 2014. These perfumes are announced as the embodiment of the authentic essence and elegance of Mont Blanc brand.

Mont Blanc Emblem begins with a splash of aromatic clary sage and cardamom mixed with sparkling grapefruit, which, right from the start, give the impression of a strong and charismatic fragrance full of contrasts. Fresh, green and frozen violet leaves are wrapped in cinnamon to provide elegance to the composition. The base features intense woods and tonka bean.

Both fragrances are available as 40, 60 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.
The nose behind this fragrance is Sonia Constant.

It is curious that brands that try to represent the sybaritism and extreme exclusivity in the products of their main activity, then in the perfumes resort to imitate (in this case 1 Million). This one has a good performance but to me that scent of cinnamon bubblegum mildy rancid and coriaceous barely attract me .
The violet leaf is smeleld but the volume goes down a lot of in the background.
It is well priced for fans of the genre but it does not give me anything.

After Starwalker and other mont blancs smell not being very good with poor longevity, I didn’t want to try it. When I did I didn’t want to like it.
Months later, today I tried it again. I now recognize that it is a nice mass appealing aromatic. It is a blend of a little bit of everything and not unique.
If you are looking are new to fragrances, like aquatics, but think you might like a aromatic, then try this. It is a good step in the water or introduction.
Overall 4 hours longevity , poor projection, and non offensive
Recommended to teens for formal occasions and at discount prices

Montblanc Emblem is the fragrance that I truly enjoy, despite the whole world out there full of scents and notes, “classy” or “modern”, “unique” or “generic”, “boring” or “interesting”…
To me, a fragrance is not just a “scent” that only the nose can smell. It can also be detected, “felt”, or “seen” through passion, emotion and mood…Any fragrance bottle is just a bottle filled with some liquid, if it is just gonna sit there on the sale counter. It can only become “live” with a “love”, a “like”, or even a “hate” until it gets picked up by us with our sentiments. And depending on EACH one of us, it can either be determined as a valuable masterpiece or just something quite disturbing to our senses. Therefore, fragrances in general are very personal in my opinion and should be evaluated with an open mind.
I feel cozy and find caressing comfort in cinnamon and cardamom. Grapefruit and violet leaf bring me an exciting freshness while tonka bean and wood offer depth and warmth. Simple, sophisticated and well balanced.
Montblanc Emblem always appears in my conscience as the scent of my husband. It is the scent of a person whom I always love resting my head on his shoulder and sniff it from his neck. It is worn by the kind hearted, loving, understanding, supportive and very passionate man whom forever stole my heart.
And that is how I think of Montblanc Emblem!

Not memorable but still a really nice scent. I tend to grab the bottle and just smell it, it’s nice. However when you put it on and walk around you won’t be particularly remembered but you certainly won’t be disliked.

If you liked Lacoste Elegance, then you’ll love this.
Upon revisiting MBE, i find it better in quality and price than LE. Similar notes explain the even trade off to my nose; this having a bit more of greener note tinge to it, in substitution of this ‘copper metallic’ note that I get from LE – just like the juice reflecting off the metallic bottle design allows / depicts, maybe. I agree with the chart about spring time use but this is good all year round. This was sitting on my shelf for at least 4-5 years…good to revisit this one and find it pleasant and a gem after a full wearing.
I also get the backbone of Azzaro Now and Carolina Herera Man, in the mid-notes. Smells like what would be the bamboo-lychee or sugarcane note in each of the those two respectively.
    All around

First up, I don’t get the similarities that some people are saying to 1 Million. Not even in the same ball park to my nose. If I was going to compare, it has has a striking resemblance to Invictus.
It’s a sweet fruity fragrance with a citrus vibe. It’s pleasant, pretty versatile and inoffensive. Not my style and couldn’t see it back in my collection.

  13. :

    5 out of 5

Very weak, smells like grapefruit, you’re better off just saving the money and using a 1/10th of it to but actual grape fruits and smear the juice on your skin.It would last longer and smell stronger, if you like medium to strong colognes this is’nt for you, it’s also quite expensive even from discounted stores.

I’m not very like it or dislike it.
One thing I can assured that my friend (girl) said she love this fragrance scent when the scent was dry down on my skin.
I had received other girls feedback, & they like this scent.
FMO, this fragrance is very pleasant scent & no offensive.
    It’s a summer/ spring fragrance.
Recommend this fragrance to people who do not like to own too many fragrances or people want a fragrance for using all season & occasion.

Emblem was announced in March 2014 along with its Intense version (which is rare in this market as there is usually a space of, at least, one year between flanker releases). At the time, Montblanc claimed that the fragrances represented the brand’s heritage and, for this reason, the bottle cut into the shape of the famous six-point star.
Emblem also started a new pillar of fragrances inside the Montblanc, which had the first feminine scent of this line launched in 2015. It features notes of clary sage, cardamom and grapefruit as start. The body of the fragrance features notes of violet leaves and cinnamon. The base was made with tonka beans and woody accord.
On the skin, Emblem is pleasant and can walk between appointments, from day to night, with ease. The output is slightly fruity and sweet and the evolution shows an oriental body, which gains woody and creamy facets. But it is not an innovative cologne today, nor when it was released. Its fragrance presents a proposal similar to that of 212 VIP Men (2010) and, if worn side by side, it is possible to notice similarities. The biggest difference is due to the creaminess of Emblem, which results from the sage and fava tonka notes, against the alcoholic and salty aspect of the other, due to the notes of vodka, caviar lime and salty amber.
That said, Emblem reinforces my personal opinion about the fragrances of the brand, which tend to grow in my concept the more I make use of them. Here, there is a little more nobility and maturity, which fit better in my current moment of life. After all, we are talking about almost eight years of difference since the launch of the Carolina Herrera’s fragrance, and the market at that time was different.
Emblem exudes well, but it produces olfactory fatigue very fast for those who wear it. That is, you may think you are no longer exuding, but you are. The durability is very good, exceeding eight hours on my skin.
After knowing this scent, I was even more curious to know its Intense version, which also has Eau de Toilette concentration, but gained reinforcement notes in its composition, such as coriander, Pomarose (compound made by Givaudan), nutmeg and patchouli.

Emblem Montblanc for men is good fragrance with good longevity & silage , it’s smell kind of sweet on me but not sweet as Black XS of Paco Rabban but with sweet twist beside the bottle design is marvelous ( it comes handy in self-defense heavy , very heavy ).

  17. :

Good spicy non-aquatic minimal-citrus scent for the summer and year-round. Not overpowering but with decent longevity (6+ hours on me). Significantly better and less synthetic than other popular department store offerings (looking at you Sauvage and Invictus).

Notes listed on Armaf’s Futura La Homme Intense:
    Top: cardamom, sage, grapefruit
    Mid: Violet leaves, cinnamom, lavender
    base: Woody notes, Tonka Bean.
Reading all the reviews here for MB Emblem is like reading something about Futura la Homme Intense.

to me, it has similarities with fahrenheit 32. i get why people mention fahrenheit, but it shouldn’t be the original one.
and again, i can’t detect any of the notes manufacturer advertises, on the contrary – dominant notes in this are cucumber and some sweet musk, everything well blended and softened, like a “normal” f32.
it’s a pleasant, but too safe a scent.
longevity almost none, shouldn’t even be called a skin scent.

Fantastic looking bottle. Poor longevity. Scent is “nothing special” sort. Too bad, looking at the bottle I was expecting something extraordinary… Just boring.

Nice fragrance and bottle. I tested it at Macy’s, however, it does suffer from performance issues. If you like a pleasant skin scent after an hour or two, go right ahead. I was hoping it would be as noticeable as a star as the bottle is. BUMMER! Score 2 out of 5. Not worth owning unfortunately. Happy Sniffing!

  22. :

    3 out of 5

It’s a good smelling fragrance. But not original at all. This is a mix between Legend by MontBlanc and Invictus by Paco Rabanne and a hint of 1 Million too. But on this one, the sweetness is a little toned down, so i prefer this one over the others. Still, it’s a boring fragrance because is very simillar to those fragrances..

    Hi Guys,
I like the overall smell & purchased it just because I loved the bottled (weird ha). But when started using this perfume, it just don’t last more than an hour !! Not even close to skin !! It’s just gone after 30 mins !! I’ve purchased this from an authentic place, so no doubts about it being a counterfeit. Am I the only one experiencing this longevity issue ?

  25. :

Formal or casual scent, very versatile in my opinion, the bottle is all about Mont Blanc trade mark and it looks beautiful. It just got to my likes but not my love ones.

  26. :

    4 out of 5

The opening sage and grapefruit makes for a very refreshing, fresh-but-on-the-dry-side start (closer to cucumber than fruit) with some moderate projection that lasts for a good 1-2 hours on my skin – the spices start to emerge as the citrus fades, ultimately leading to the considerably sweeter base of tonka and wood notes that radiate a minimal amount for abut another 90 minutes before becoming a skin scent for another few hours.
This scent takes you on a far more interesting journey than the moderate price would imply. I know I have an undeniable bias to wood aromatic and/or spicy blends, but I feel like as long as you have a fondness for this family of scents, this would be a very safe blind buy if you know to expect a good woody scent with a fresh dry touch and more sweetness in the drydown than the opening would suggest. Very interesting.
As FearlessFalcon mentioned below, the notes are very well matched, leading into and around one another seamlessly. This immediately makes me think of a dryer, less amberish D&G The One. I am currently enjoying this as a cold-weather work scent.

After wearing it for 3-4 days, i can say that this is an indoor scent. This can be a compliment getter when worn while staying indoors like at home or in the office. Performance reminds me of YSL L’homme-another indoor scent. Don’t expect much projection but works for intimate moments.

  28. :

Pretty much how everyone else described it; opening blast resembles 212 VIP, Halloween Man and then it forms more into the One million type vibe. If you have either of those colognes then you don’tneed this one. And just like the others, it has tremendous longevity and projection.

  29. :

This is very close to both VIP 212 Men and Trump Empire, I like the other two more than this though.

Such a lovely scent for a man!
Gentle yet firm, warm, and clean.

  32. :

Professional and formal. Those two words perfectly outline this fragrance. This is not something you wear on a typical day. This is a business suit and tie accessory, or a date-night aroma. Definitely not your average deo-body spray. This is the atmosphere of someone successful and someone who knows what they want in life, and how to achieve it.
The notes blend together masterfully, striking a mysterious tone that adds extra enchantment to it. The citrus and sage notes are noticeably prominent at the beginning, with cinnamon and violet fading into existence from the background. This scent does not change dramatically from the opening to the drydown. Instead, it remains a constant through the drydown and beyond. It smells the same on my clothes 14 hours after I sprayed it on.
That being said, it last quite a while. It survived on me the whole day, still sufficiently projecting at bedtime. It gradually gets softer as the day goes on though. Fantastic sillage and longevity, I must say (:
It smells like some other common scents, such as Invictus by Paco Rabbane. But, still a very good smell and affordable for the quality it is. Highly recommend.
    Overall rating: 8.9/10

This one took me by surprise, If I concentrate then I can pick out the citrus and sage and violet but just wearing it, it smells like cucumber lemonade with some crisp greens and hardly any florals. I would not have known there were heavier woods and tonka if it had not been pointed out.
Love this for a warmer weather fragrance and already bought a backup bottle just a dozen “wears” into the first.

  34. :

Received a mini bottle as part of a sampler and liked it enough to get the full size bottle.
I’ve only worn it in the summer so far, but it strikes me as a year-round scent. A nice change from summer aquatics and heavier, spicier scents in cooler weather.

Interesting scent but yes it has done before. What I find interesting about it is the floating oud – woody notes that are present but always changing throughout the wear.
The frozen violet doesn’t seem so frozen to me and comes across as dirty n’ woody which I like.
I had bought Lacoste White, Only the Brave, The One, Decibel and Guess Seductive and will only keep OTB and The One. Emblem can replace all of them as my preferable sweet smell.
When smelling invictus and eros, 1 million I bought this.
Overall, a big Like! (not love) but definitely like a lot. Long lasting – 8hrs on clothes after 1 spray; and very easy/comfortable to wear. Gets compliments from my lady too.

Well, I’m living in a tropical country, so the weather is hot or super-duper-hot (24*C – 38*C) so this perfume a little bit overwhelming. But when the night comes out, this perfume is perfect for date night. This is my first perfume, it’s cheap but truly the best casual perfume!

Violet and cardomom themed cologne. Quite linear in the drydown as well. This is a fresh woody cologne with a semi-sweet airy/floral vibe hanging in the background. If there was something called a “jungle juice” it would smell like this.Very suitable for Autumn, Spring and winter. It is nothing to write your friends about but the execution is admirable. Safe cologne with average sillage and very good longevity. One of the few good releases of the last few years.

Emblem is a fragrance that does not try to be anything different. It is a scent that wants to excel in being cologny, and does so extraordinary. Although I do not get any of the notes listed above, to me this smells like watermelon. Emblem is fruity but not overly. It is also athletic and masculine. The longevity is seriously incredible. It lasts well over 12 hours and projects well for the first few hours. If you want a cheap everyday scent, go for this.
Unique bottle with an awesome cap that spins elegantly like a dreidel.

    – Metallic cinnamon – ★★★☆☆
I really like this site but what really infuriates me is the fear of mediocrity that resides in so many of the reviews. What if I told you that not every wearing of fragrance must be of some masterpiece. Sometimes I do layer myself with some of the more hardcore scents like Alien or Jaipur but they grow weary very quickly and are pretty much unwearable in school/at work. So for these occasions I do spesifically long for mediocrity – a pair of jeans, black shirt and a safe fragrance that has a clear and calm identity.
Emblem (as well as Legend) is indeed unexceptional but it has distinct elements of masculinity, freshness and sweetness that makes it so easy to wear and understand – it doesn’t provoke any thoughts and isn’t very surprising but that is EXACTLY what I want. Now don’t be mistaken there are bad mainstream fragrances too but my point here is that mediocrity isn’t a synonym of garbage. Emblem is nicely blended, has quality ingredients and the signature metallic accord that’s in many of Montblancs. Also, It’s so wearable it’s almost ridiculous – I reach for Jaipur maybe once every 3 weeks but Emblem can be worn from monday to the end of the week with such ease I sometimes forget I’m even wearing anything.
Just like clothing: why would I want to wear a thousand euro Cavalli pullover to the university when I can just pull off black sweatshirt – who cares anyway? Sometimes opulence and lavishness doesn’t translate to being stylish – wearing Black Orchid at a workplace would be an insult to the fragrance as well as to the people trying to work around you. Not much class in that, huh? A more minimalistic and humble option would be 5 times better. There’s a typical element of elitism that dwells in Fragrantica and it’s manifestation can be best found in the hate poured onto these innocent fragrances that truly never meant to be anything but worn daily. (Which some of, like Emblem, are actually done well). Put this in a Chanel Exclusive bottle and give it some pretty story about how the perfumer got inspired by something oh so phenomenal – we would see a different love-hate chart up there.
    Emblem
    – ordinary? yes
    – masculine? yes
    – still some development and notes clear as the sky? yes
    – the most wearababale fragrance that isn’t desperate for attention? YES!!

I like this regardless of reviews, what works well on my skin may differ from yours. If you enjoy one million and invictous then you will also enjoy this as it has some similarities. This is sweet and on me has excellent longevity and projection, so easy on the trigger when it’s hot out. I think this is best for fall nights. Even clubbing. It’s been 6 hours and it’s still on my arms quite strong, not even close a skin scent yet.

While my parfume stock recently has been on the higher end of things (Creed, Tom Ford Private Blend, Acqua Di Parma) I am so glad I stopped and smelled this at Bloomingdales the other day. You know it’s bad and a supplier is desperate to discontinue it when you’re getting a free sample in the mail of something. I am so glad I didn’t get this in a box set or whatever around christmas or I owuld have given it to someone in my family. This “manly musk” garbage really needs to die off all this scent does is give miagranes and there is nothing enticing if I was a woman about wanting to be with a guy who I have to pop tyleonls to be around. In the sample pack I also got a Jimmy Choo one and neither were too impressive.
I’m all for modern or new scents with those companies tryinf different stuff but gray colognes and musk scents should have died off. In fact I like to use axe as an example. I’d prefer axe gold over this junk. I’ll take Lacoste, Paco Rabanne, polo (how original) or davidoff over this in a heart beat how boring that one was. I like my theirry muggler angel (probably spelled the designer wrong) way more than this and I use that about once a month. If I was a millionaire it would be my bathroom spray.
this one is in the same regards as jovan musk, ed hardy skull and roses and anything gray/grey how bad it was. If a new company wants to survive do something different is my advice.

I just bought this at the department store after using free vials I got from a previous purchase last Christmas. I love this fragrance. It’s light and for sure the people in your “zone” will fall in love with you once they get a whiff of it from the back of your neck and forearms. It’s better than Legend also by MB.

I just bought this fragrance and I think it is fine. In my opinion it is pretty strong, it lasts on my skin for at least 4-6 hours although the top notes disappear after a while. The base notes stay for long hours. It is not a really unique frag, but it’s pleasant. It is a winter scent for me, too much for summer. I think it worth a try!

  58. :

    Generic? Yes.
    Boring? Yes.
    Weak longevity? Yes.
    Girls love it? Yes.
So who cares if it’s nothing unique. A great date scent IMHO. I feel fresh when wearing it, stays on my skin for 4 hours so when I go out I take a small decant in my pocket to respray after sometime. It’s elegant, good for casual outfit as well as for a suit. I’d like to try Intense version but it is not available in my country.

  59. :

If you are a mont blanc fan and choosing between Legend and Emblem, go for Emblem. It is far more elegant and despite comments about its longevity, it is still very classy and people who will be able to get a whiff of this scent on your neck will want to hug you no end!

Montblanc Emblem is just another fragrance to compete in the market.
Taking the beauty out of the bottle, it does not add something different or excellent in the aroma, its opening has a semi herbal scent and in seconds it turns into an aromatic metallised chord (it seems that there is something of the Legend), I believe it is the violet leaf among others.
Later comes the sweet touch of this known cinnamon, heating and preparing the entrance of the base of coumarin and woody tones, it seems that all these brands use the same material, notes, something like an “oriental dejavu”, I understand it’s all about money, But I expected more from this brand that I love.

Screams office and those family get togethers where you don’t need to try and stand out.
Pleasant on the nostrils no doubt but is this intriguing and mysterious?
    Me thinks not!

I tried today, surprised me because it’s delicious and modern, first reminds me of CH Men, but after turns more fruity and sweeter, doesn’t smell too masculine. I recommend absolutely to the younger age-group:) The bottle is also very cool. Sillage is moderate, longevity is better than average, rests on the skin about 8-9 hours.

Had a quick spritz in a shop. I have to say, it’s terribly weak and the smell is ordinary at best. A miss on this one I’m afraid.

Today’s men’s popular/’generic’ department store fragrance market can be generally categorised into two groups. First, we have the works-every-time fresh citrusy scents. Second, we have the new sweet spicy scents that have lately become popular – the prime examples being One Million and Spicebomb.
Emblem takes these two most popular categories and merges them into one. This bottle is essentially Legend meets One Million. After the fresh citrusy top, it dries down into a fresher and less obnoxious version of the cinnamon-centric One Million. Simple and fairly linear after the top.
The result is pleasing and the performance is good (average projection, decent longevity). Of course it is generic, and of course it’s synthetic – but that does not mean it’s a bad scent. In fact, it does well in balancing the two categories.
Nevertheless, it’s unfortunate that a house that is capable of producing the excellent Individuel is opting for the tried and tested money-making formula, but that’s hardly surprising – particularly after the statement of purpose that was MB Legend.
Emblem isn’t the embodiment of the authentic essence and elegance of the Mont Blanc brand. Emblem is the embodiment of everything that is popular is the mass consumer men’s fragrance market today, and it has succeeded in its purpose.

You can’t wear this without the following items (no way you can, nah-nah): a Gucci suit (essential), Mont-Blanc cufflinks (duh!), Armani underwear (wink wink) and shades by Tom Ford (even when night!).
If you wear all that, with shoes and belt by an Italian brand, ladies will give you the best time of your life!
    10/10 ruined personal economies.

This scent is rather uninspiring, I’m afraid. The only word that can describe this scent is ‘pathetic’.
In my opinion, this smells like your average $5 cologne with that typical aquatic cologne-y smell. It opens up with a citrus note, then it dries down to an aquatic, peppery tonka scent which has been done a million times before.
It’s not a bad thing to smell, but when you market this fragrance under the name of a brand that offers luxury products for a large price tag, it IS a bad thing because it ruins their reputation.
Why bother with this fragrance when you have better offerings from the same brand (Individuel, Legend, Starwalker, etc)? Emblem is not even worth taking a look at. This gets a huge thumbs down from me.
    Shame on you Mont Blanc.

Nah….not feeling it. I got some samples and have worn a couple of times now and I’m afraid I’m even going to revert on my original thoughts which were that this is average at best, it’s not. Emblem is such a lacklustre outing from Mont Blanc very disappointing. Has that same synthetic, aquatic colone molecule thing which comes on strong in the opening and settles to a creamy Tonka affair…not good. Similar to many recent releases Invictus, Eros, and Burberry Brit rhythm. Surely there is more interesting olfactory songs to sing? Lazy stuff designed purposefully to have mass appeal, Mont Blanc have steered themselves in that direction after very original scents to begin with. Can’t really blame them for chasing popular concepts they are in business after all, who cares about maintaining integrity with true fragrance fans who obviously weren’t in big enough numbers to make starwalker, Individuel and Presence big sellers.

How can you say Emblem and Legend are similar? I don’t get it..

Yesterday, I sniffed the cap of Mont Blanc’s emblem and it seemed very disappointing. I left a review here just below this one that I will keep for comparison.
Today, I tested it on my skin. Even if I hated it, I wanted to give it a proper chance. I must say, I was very wrong and harsh. It’s not, by any means, a brand defining fragrance, but it is still a good scent. It starts so harsh so sweet, and so sticky. I quickly removed my hand and took a nice breath of fresh air. Gave it a second chance after a couple of minutes and it all changed! Ok, it does smell similar to thousands or even millions of other fragrances, but what sets it apart of them is it’s quality. Once settled, this fragrance becomes sweet, but refined. It’s like telling it’s fellows how they should have been.
It is not as synthetic smelling as PR’s Invictus. Despite that “Emblem” will never be in my want list, I can give Mont Blanc the credit for introducing a good quality sweet perfume. But, I also want to say that I had enough with this category of perfume. They need to be more daring and experiment with different kinds of ingredients. I need something new!
