Description

Eau Gourmande Creme de Pistacho is a luscious and delicious fragrance that captures the essence of pistachio nut, almond, praline, hazelnut and whipped cream, combined to create an inviting, seductive and contemporary fragrance. This unique composition is infused with bergamot and fruity nectars, blended with creamy pistachio, white orchid, honey and melted caramel. Tenderness and sensuality are caused by soft woody aromas, smooth, silken vanilla and bitter – sweet chocolate.

It is available as 50 ml EDT with bath & body collection. The nose behind this fragrance is Calice Becker.

Angel? Really? Didn’t cross my mind at all upon first, second or third testing, so I was surprised to see so many Fragranticans drawing similarities between the two. To me, Creme de Pistache is all nutty goodness, less overpoweringly sweet than expected, less creamy than expected, full on nuts (mainly pistachio) with a smidgen of dark chocolate and some honey. It’s pretty great, but I’m not crazy enough about it to hunt down a full bottle.

Was hoping for a salty/nutty combination. Found it to be heavy and cloying, unwearable.

It has an interesting subtle soft nutty texture in the opening and then that goes away to a simple, likable, sweet vanilla note.

I don’t have much to add to the reviews that are already here – this is, indeed, a dead ringer for Angel. Crème de Pistache isn’t quite as overpoweringly strong, and the patchouli is replaced by a nice nutty accord that I can buy as buying pistacchio, but they’re really quite alike overall. Which means I like it – I have nothing against Angel, and the more gourmand the better, as far as I’m concerned. But it also means that it’s not quite as special as I had hoped looking at that lovely list of notes, and since it’s discontinued, I think I’ll just leave it at this sample.

This is a gourmand Angel, and please let me explain myself: Thierry Mugler’s Angel never smelled edible to me, it is a beautiful patchouli centric perfume one either loves or hates (I have had both sentiments at times towards it).
And then I smelled Creme de Pistache: Calice Becker has used Angel’s skeleton, but the finished product is different and so delicious! It is an Angel without patchouli, dipped in honey and smeared over butter cookies with hazelnut pieces in them (there’s an image).
For a lack of better description, try it if you like the concept of Angel but find it masculine, not enough gourmand or just not right for some reason. Creme de Pistache is, for me, an Angel version done right.

Just in case people are missing this fragrance, B&BW has a fragrance right now called Golden Pear & Brown Sugar. Well, it instantly reminded me of this LM Pistache perfume. It doesn’t smell like pears at all to me, but more like almond pistachio ice cream with a little chocolate on it. It may fill the void.

Very sad to hear this has been discontinued… Anyone possibly have this perfume that would like to sell it please email me

Honestly, I was a little worried when I saw that Crème de Pistache is supposedly similar to Angel. But I was pleasantly surprised when I tried it; there are definite similarities between the two, but CdP is like a softer, nuttier Angel without the rough edges (the patchouli). It opens with a rich, smooth pistachio note, but that sadly fades away after a few minutes. CdP then evolves into a soft, creamy nut and chocolate scent. The chocolate thankfully isn’t the cloying, Hershey’s syrup variety, but a semi-sweet, fluffy chocolate crème. CdP smells delicious and soft, like a pistachio macaron with chocolate ganache filling. Mmm.
Overall I really love this fragrance. It’s sweet but not too sweet, and it does chocolate in a way that I can enjoy. My only gripe is the beautiful disappearing pistachio note in the beginning, but it’s an enjoyable, well-done fragrance despite that.

The opening is a delicious, creamy, pistachio cloud. Then it turns bitter for me. I have a full bottle sprayed once. Would be willing to trade for a bottle of Versace Crystal Noir.

Synthetic, nose-cloying, chocolate, peanut and roasted almond. If it was a cheap fragrance, it would be OK. But it’s not! For its price, I expect real and alluring chocolate, peanut and roasted almond! Not buying this one.

If you love Thierry Mugler Angel, you will more than likely love this fragrance. It is very similar…especially the chocolate note.

I bought the body cream, and had a sample of perfume. The perfume had an overwhelmingly pungent penetrating scent. It gave me an instant headache which lasted days. Sadly, I returned it, since headache was so overpowering, I could not do anything.
I am an Alien lover, and can’t tolerate Angel (the same strong headache issue – and there are only handful of perfume I get headaches from – like Angel, Flowerbomb, some Kenzo, and this one by Laura Mercier, Sara Jessica Parker Covet and Halle by Halle Berry). I just need to figure out what is common between these 6 perfumes.
I remember Covet has bergamot, but in itself, I adore it.
Not sure, may be just an unfortunate combo, since every note by itself is lovely.

I am dying to try this scent, but I would be forced to blind-buy a full bottle because it’s not available anywhere for me to sample 🙁
Is there an angel out there who owns a bottle of this willing to send me a tiny sample? Please PM me if you are – I would be happy to send samples in return! 🙂 Hope to hear from you!

I like the bittersweet notes to this, a contraste between the creamy pistachio, vanilla and cream with another pungent almost tart like smell, it lingers on my skin forever but it’s definitely a Fall Winter fragrance, not my favorite of the Eau Gourmand but I enjoy it nonetheless.

    Ah, Laura. You devil!
I smelled this at Saks today and got a distinct note of soggy graham cracker. No, no, NO.
    Get thee behind me!

It’s Angel without the devil (patchouli). Sadly they put the patchouli in the Almond Coconut and destroyed a lifelong fave of mine. I like this a lot, but it’s not shy, I’ve never purchased it because I didn’t know if it lands well on others honestly. It’s very strong, though not terribly long lived.

I am echoing a lot of other reviews, but this could definitely be a little sister of Angel. CDP opens with plenty of sweet nutty goodness; a pristine scoop of pistachio ice cream. Then it warms into more of an almond bubble tea. Once it has settled on my skin, it definitely smells like Angel without the super assertive patch note. I love how Angel smells on me after about 6 hours wear so this fragrance is a good short cut to that scent. I do feel it is different enough from Angel to merit a purchase should you already own one or the other. It is such a beautifully blended gourmand, truly smooth and mellow. No screechy or synthetic edges. I like layering this with Laura Mercier Vanilla for a true ice cream sundae scent confection.

The first few seconds smell just like pistachio ice cream, but then turns very unpleasantly sour (maybe the combo of salty-sweet), on both skin and clothing. Very disappointing since the opening smelled delicious. It’s a very strong scent.

  21. :

This perfume opens with a definite blast of pistachio and as other reviewers have said, starts to turn into a flanker for Angel. However…the Angel similarities only lasted for about 30 minutes on my skin and then it seemed to move past that into a more nutty, chocolate scent that is very warm and cozy. The chocolate/hazelnut scent lasts and lasts which for me is perfect. I would definitely wear this in the fall and winter and could also wear on spring/summer nights. It might be too strong for summer days. I’m longing for those cool winter days when I can wear this while wrapped in a cozy sweater and sipping on a hot mocha. MMMMMMMM!

  22. :

    5 out of 5

When first sprayed, I get a hint of dried fruit and some almonds. As the fragrance dies down, the dark chocolate appears and mingles with some synthetic almond flavoring, pistachio, and some smokey roasted hazelnut. Then the honey comes out to play. The deep drydown is tons of rich, thick honey drizzled over fragments of dark chocolate and almond and pistachio slivers. It’s sweet but not overwhelming, gourmand but not really a food-y scent, which I really appreciate. While it smells nothing like Chocolovers, the chocolate and hazelnut do a little to ease the void where Chocolovers once was. The fragrance isn’t terribly strong on my skin, more ideal for fall or winter than any other season, but still light enough that you can get away with it on a cooler day in spring or summer. A sweet delight!

In the bottle, this is a delicious creamy confection. Sweet but not overly so. I can smell the nutty elements with a sweet creamy smoothness. ON MY SKIN, it is an entirely different scent! I get the creamy pistachio for all of maybe 10 seconds and then it begins the disgusting, sickly dry down process that makes me nauseous! It really is TM’s Angel in different packaging on me. I should have listened to the other reviews because it really is dead on Angel. And on me, Angel (and now this) are horrible. It does not mesh with my chemistry at all. I don’t know what the note is that is killing me, as with Angel it’s the patchouli that turns into an almost, forgive the nastyness, CAT PEE smell. And I’m getting the exact same problem with this. YUCK! I wish it worked for me, as it does smell divine in the bottle, but sadly no. 🙁 Will be returning ASAP!

This has to be one of my all time favorite scents! Wore this when i started dating my boyfriend and it’s now his favorite scent because of it. Smells sweetly nutty and it’s very strong. This perfume will last and last and last

  25. :

    3 out of 5

I agree that the perfume starts off with a great blast of pistachio then dries down to a more gourmand version of angel. It’s a little bit frustrating for me because I love the top phase so much. I prefer the body butter to the perfume because I get the top notes much, much longer but it still has a tiny bit of the gourmand angel dry down. This fragrance makes me feel pretty naughty for some reason. In that sexy, confident, come get me way 😉

  26. :

    4 out of 5

Crème de Pistache opens like an pistachio flavoured ice-cream and becomes more and more nutty with almond and hazelnut joining the party. Bit by bit, honey and cream drip in, until the scent becomes a swirl of creamy nuts.
At this point, the fragrance is very pleasant and I already enjoyed it a lot. However, the drydown really strikes me with the resemblance with Angel and some of its flankers when the chocolate kicks in, as other reviewers already pointed out. It’s like a gentler Angel without the earty patchouli. At the same time, the chocolate note I get on my skin is the bitter type, thus helps to cut the sweetness, which is a lovely surprise towards the end of this delightful journey.
The sillage is moderate and the longevity is at least 9 hours. It’s a good option for those who find the patchouli in Angel too potent. But it’s also extremely enjoyable on its own as a gourmand fragrance, especially if you like pistachio and chocolate. I’d definitely recommend it.

  27. :

When I first sprayed Creme de Pistache on my skin, I quite liked it. I realized as it developed that it strongly resembled that unmistakable gourmand accord in Angel. Personally, I love Angel and find that it works quite well with my chemistry. As Creme de Pistache sat on my skin for a while, I started to gain an appreciation for the earthiness that the patchouli brings to Angel. While Angel is in fact very gourmand and sweet on my skin, the backdrop of patchouli cuts the sweetness enough that it doesn’t become overbearing.
The problem with Creme de Pistache is that it has a similar loud, sweet, gourmand blend of honey, praline, vanilla, caramel and chocolate – but nothing to tone it down. About an hour after I applied this, I started to feel a little nauseated. If you’re a hardcore gourmand lover and can tolerate a very high level of sweetness, you may love this – especially if the patchouli ruins Angel for you. For me, it was just too much sweetness.

Absolutely gorgeous for the gourmand fans. It is such a unique take on gourmand. The pistachio is perfect in this fragrance. It is absolutely lovely!

  29. :

If you don’t like the Angel similarities, try the body & hand cream instead. It retains the pistachio and doesn’t have that strong patchouli-ish note. It also has decent silage and lasting power!

I am also getting the angel comparison wearing this. The first spray is deliciously sweet and nutty but it doesn’t stay too long unfortunately. Once that’s gone I get the angel similarities, it’s not as strong and I do have to sniff to smell it as it wears on, I get faint chocolate towards the end. Lasts maybe 5-6 hours on me. I did test before I bought this but possibly was testing too many at the same time. It’s not a hate for me I like the opening I’m not not loving it as it drys down but I would wear it now and again , could be one that will grow in me
I’m getting a lot more chocolate in the dry down now and much happier with this one having lived with it for few weeks

I hate Thierry Mugler Angel and all I can smell from this perfume is Angel. I read that it was similar to Angel and it is…If you don’t like Angel…try this before you buy it…
    I know it’s not much of a review…sorry…

Wow, there is so much gourmand power in this plain little bottle! I’ve tried it 3 different times now, twice on my wrist, once on my neck. This is STRONG. I prefer it on my wrist.
First spray is so deliciously amazing! Honeyed fruits, amaretto (from the almond note), and toasted pistachios. Yummy. The fruits and amaretto leave quickly, then some woods, praline, and florals enter.
Mid point gets very smokey to me, all dark roasted nuts and woods, almost to the point of being burnt, but not quite. Still the honey is evident and just a touch of whipped cream.
The dry down still has me unsure if this is a love. The honey becomes a powdered honey concentrate, plus heavy woods, dark chocolate and florals. I can definitely see the comparison to Angel here. I like how Raina described the difference below. I can’t find patchouli listed as a note anywhere for Creme de Pistache, and I think that would make it way too much for me. The notes this shares with Angel are chocolate, vanilla, honey, orchid, caramel, and bergamot. Still it is very heavy and almost cloying.
I think this is a cool weather, special night out scent. I think it is a treasure and masterpiece, just a loud one! It lasts at least 5 hours on me.
I’m suggesting this to my mother who loved Angel, but dad couldn’t stand it!
*I’ve worn this several times now and there is a mildew-y feel during the bottom notes that’s a little off-putting. It’s like being in a wood sauna with honey dripped over the coals and every once in a while there’s a whiff of a rotting or water damaged board.

I am in LOVE with this! Pistachio ice cream is in my top 5 flavors of all time (and I am obsessed with ice cream…) and it makes me so happy! So of course this was right up my alley. This scent does smell like Angel… if Angel became a creamy, almond-y, pistachio ice cream with whipped cream on top! This is a lovely gourmand that is not too sweet, and much more wearable (and probably less toxic- eek! lol) than Angel. I love it. I really want a FB now!!! I get the pistachio, almond, lots of vanilla, praline, candy floss, whipped cream, a mixture of nuts, you name it! Every gourmand delight is included in this little gem of a perfume, and I’m diggin’ it.
EDIT: Still love the scent, but after a full day of wearing, I’ve noticed the longevity isn’t great 🙁 Too bad since it’s so yummy.

My first thoughts were almond soybean pudding with a sprinkling of pistachio powder. A little nutty, very creamy and gourmand. By the first hour,a distinct backdrop of patchouli/musk can be smelt although it is not listed here. Hours later, the dry down is a mere milk pudding scent with a faint whisper of pistachio that you would probably think you’re imagining it.
If you want actual pistachio madness, try their body cream.

A gourmand delight that somehow manages to avoid being cloying while being very sweet.
It begins with a clear note of creamed pistachios, backed by almonds, hazelnuts, and a pure honey. A very familiar medley of caramel and chocolate serve to brighten and amp up that clear honey note, so that its sings louder than the other notes but isn’t overwhelmingly sugary or sickening. As it sits on my skin the pistachio and nuts smooth out and slowly give way to a honey-caramel-choclate blend, a clear relation to the mother of all gourmands, Angel. For a fragrance entitled Creme de Pistache, the pistachio is certainly short lived. However, if you love honey in gourmand fragrances, this is a must have for you.
If you took out the patchouli, all the floral business, spices and earthiness of Thierry Mugler’s Angel, you’d have the honey-caramel-chocolate notes in Laura Mercier’s Eau Gourmand Creme de Pistache. Its cleaned up so that nothing interferes with the gourmand notes and the honey can really shine through. Quite beautiful really, and surprisingly not cloying considering how sweet it is. Perhaps its something in the chocolate or orchid keeping this scent from tipping over the edge into pure spun sugar.
Honey and I have a complicated relationship. I despise it in most things and love it in very rare moments of inspired usage. So when it comes to fragrances, I rarely like anything featuring honey. The honey here is very golden and bright, and very sweet, but not quite as overwhelming as the honey in Tokyo Milk’s Honey and the Moon. It’s more on par with Angel’s honey, but whereas there honey is accompanied by many notes and toned down, here the honey is featured. If you don’t like sweet, this is not for you.

One sniff and I was hooked. Such a creamy pistachio type scent. Very gourmand like I love it.
Reminds me of pistachio ice cream..minus the calories! 😀

This smells a great deal like Angel (which I love) at first, but then the pistachio note develops, and also the cream, which is a wonderful accent to the pistachio.
Definitely a sweet fragrance, and it lasts a long time (wish the sillage was better, though!).
I think it would be best paired with the body cream, because that would improve the sillage.
If you don’t want to smell like dessert, don’t wear this one!
Incidentally, the pistachio note is extremely realistic, with no detectable “chemical aftersmell”, which can sometimes be a problem with the unusual notes.

Other people have said this and the funny thing is I had the same exact reaction to this perfume. I bought the body cream immediately from Nordstroms when I smelled it, but passed on the perfume. Later on, I ended up purchasing the perfume online because I couldn’t remember why I didn’t purchase it with the body cream. Well, when I received the perfume in the mail, I was like ‘what the heck, why doesn’t this smell like the body cream?’ and banished it to my drawer full of lost and forgotten fragrances. I pulled it out 2 weeks ago because I was bored with my usual scent and had an ‘OMG, WHY HAVEN’T I BEEN WEARING THIS??’ moment. I have been wearing it ever since!

This is surprisingly delicious! Whereas I get the Angel similarities, to me it is a beautiful rich fragrance in its own right. Also, the scent offers a clear contrast from Angel – I am one of those people who hates Angel! In this LM fragrance, the pistachio note is wonderful and very distinct. I gave this 4 lippies because I would not wear this every day because it is so heavy, decadent, & rich. It is interesting, yummy & very sexy, however! For me, this is a big night out fragrance, as well as a sexy night in scent. Wear this when you want to be sniffed & lusted after!!

I bought this as a blind buy as I love my gourmand fragrances. Upon spraying it I whinced and screamed a sonic scream (that could have been heard half way across the world, I’m sure!). I thought it was awful.
I had it hidden away for a while and decided to try it again today. I’m extremely happy to say that I was completely wrong with my initial thoughts on this concoction. The first note – tropical fruits, especially pineapple! That soon settled down to take a back seat and then the nuts appeared. Lots of hazelnut (praline), almonds and gorgeous headliner, pistachio nuts!! They also settle down and it becomes woodier then the vanilla and dark chocolate appears.
Don’t spray this one on to excess. Three pulse point sprays is all you need. Oh, and the longevity is amazing. Gourmand lovers must try this one. It is a really rare treat to have so much girly gorgeousness crammed into one bottle!

  41. :

    3 out of 5

I agree with the few reviews I’ve skimmed over that this perfume is very similar to Angel. And it’s awfully potent in it’s own right. This could easily be an Angel or Innocent flanker.
What sets Creme de Pistache apart from Angel is the beautiful pistachio note. It really does smell just like the actual nut, with the thin, slightly bitter outer skin. It reminds me of Lindt chocolates with the pistachio filling. It’s very creamy and also buttery at the same time, for I sense a delicate saltiness about it, like salted caramel. After it dries down somewhat, I am reminded of a chewy honey and almond nougat.
I hadn’t seen the notes yet, but when I first smelled it I could easily detect pistachio, almond, honey, caramel, cream, and chocolate. And now that I see the notes, I was right on the mark. It’s different enough from Angel that I would like to own it. It’s very gourmand–more edible than most gourmands I’ve smelled lately. Brilliant. Love it.

I was pushed to try this after being in Nordies. This customer actually had me try it. She was super excited over certain fragrances. She did not even work there but was selling these scents to me like she did. Well she was great and she should work in that industry, because all the ones she suggested were great, including this one.
Yes, it smells like Angel but a much more tolerable version. The customer told me that this would make me smell like cookies, she’s right. I’m a gourmand lover so this works for me. Did I mention Pistachio almond is my fav ice cream flavor? lol

  43. :

I finally got the opportunity to try this one and I couldn’t wait to try as Pistachios are my absolute favourite note.
Upon first sniff I caught a fleeting glimpse of pistachio and then disappointingly instead of settling it seemed to disappear quite quickly. It’s definitely, to my nose, not sweet, more of a fresh take on pistachio not one in a cake shop.
I have to confess at this point, that the cake shop is more my thing but for days when I want a fresher feel to a gourmand, this would be one I could wear. It would never offend anyone and I could happily wear this to the office.
Some have said that the body lotion is to die for so that might be worth checking out. Overall this perfume isn’t sweet enough for me and on my skin hides too well but I have enjoyed wearing it.

  44. :

    3 out of 5

For the first hour it was really nice, I could definitely smell the all the nuts (especially the pistachios) and honey. It smelt very creamy though and smooth but not overly sweet like most gourmand fragrances. Afterwards, it really was like a dried down TM Angel, which isn’t bad because I do like Angel it’s just that I already have it! It did last for about 5-6 hours though which was nice so I think I’ll get a bottle anyways since I do like how it is more like the dry down of Angel so it’s not as “In your face” as Angel can be.

  45. :

    4 out of 5

Had a strange time warp experience with this one when I tested it today. After about half an hour, I couldn’t work out where that smell of Angel was coming from, and from a bottle of Angel that had gone off, too. Then I realised it was the Creme de Pistache. I’m a pretty hardened fragrance user, Tom Ford and Serge Lutens don’t bother me any more than a nicely fragranced washing up liquid, but I had to wash this LM one off as soon as I was able – I found it persistently, chokingly irritating. And I was so looking forward to it, according to the description.

I want to try this badly ! The notes are up-my-alley. Plus, when I’ve tried Laura Mercier body lotions, the scent is what gets me everytime.
I want a perfume that has the smell of a pistachio dessert….Salty and sweet, the notes remind me of what noa by cacharel smells like. I really hope it doesn’t smell like Angel by TM. Played out scent

  47. :

I’m having a love/hate relationship with this one. One minute it smells lovely, almost edible, deep and rich. At this stage it’s comforting and relaxing.
The next minute it does smell like patchouli like cmmarti3 mentioned. And not just any patchouli, kind of like a dirty, grungy patchouli-along with the sweet and nutty pistachio. Strange, but interesting.
Creme de Pistache is a very different scent, not sure if it’s my thing or not.

  48. :

Can this be love? Or just an infatuation?
Eau Gourmande Creme de Pistacho is in a way quite similar to TM Womanity. It has both the sweetness ans the saltiness of Womanity, but it is also deliciously nutty in the best way it can.
Because of the saltiness, it is quite a strange scent… You can smell all the sweetness there is, chocolate and vanilla, and lots of hazeltnut, and honey, and then there is this salty air feeling to the whole, and a touch of woodyness.
I am not sure how to classify this one. Fantastically bizarre and captivating. Creamy, powdery, strange. And I definitely want to test more to make up my mind about it.
EDIT: Not a love, not even an infatuation Im afraid. The more I have it on me, the less I like. It lacks a bit of freshness, and after a few hours becomes stuffy, sweet-salty scent that has a power to suffocate. Maybe more citrus or something juicy would bring this alive?

  49. :

    5 out of 5

I don’t see it listed in the notes, but this fragrance is absolutely loaded with patchouli. I had to have it when it first came out because I love gourmands and love Laura Mercier but this totally falls short. Think Thierry Mugler Angel here. If that’s your thing, you might like this. But for me, TM Angel is like death (by patchouli) in a bottle. And sadly so is this. There is little resemblance in my opinion to the Pistache body collection which is lovely, nutty and patchouli free. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. You’ll love it or hate it; I don’t see much in between here. Too bad for me it was the latter! 🙁
