I wear it to bed. Not because it’s bland or boring—it’s not! But I find it very soothing and relaxing. The milky vanilla and fragrant cardamom just work wonders on my senses and bring about a total state of comfort for me. Sort of reminds me of sipping Chai tea lattes by a cosy fire! I wish it lasted longer, but since I mostly just wear it to bed I don’t need it to last for hours! Just until I fall asleep. 🙂 Lovely fragrance!

Wow…Just wow. I’ve been looking for a full fledged vanilla scent that wasn’t extremely feminine. And I found Eau Duelle it opens with Cardamom then the vanilla takes center stage I pick up the Elemi as well. It’s in the same realm of Bois D’argent but Bois is a little more dustier. I prefer eau duelle. It’s not loud it’s soft and smells amazing. I know their is a EDP tried both but I didn’t want it to be loud. One of my new favorites. Definitely in the top three for fragrances I’ll be wearing this Fall and winter.

I love this type of vanilla! Very soft, cozy, and all just for me. I don’t think anybody around me knew I was wearing a perfume. It is soft.

Reminds me of the very large and old bottle of vanilla extract from Mexico my mom kept.
A fantastic vanilla scent that isn’t too sticky or sweet. Can wear it alone or use as a base for something else as well.

A very clean and subtle unisex vanilla. Very close to Atelier’s vanille incensee.

    My signature scent!
A warm, creamy vanilla that is never too sweet because the resin and other notes give it balance and complexity. It’s never too strong or too subtle.
My significant other adores how I smell, and he wants to be near me all the time. Just for fun, I tried Eau Duelle on him …but it’s just not the same. Oh, well.
The quality of this fragrance is good. Although it’s not inexpensive, my first bottle lasted me about 1.5 years even with everyday wear. It’s worth the money.
    Try it and enjoy!

I’m dead shocked no one has compared this to Indecénce (rest in peace). I ran across Eau Duelle while on a hunt for the new formulation of Indecénce, and picking up a sample of Philosykos. From the EDP bottle, it’s a sparkly, dusky, resinous vanilla with incense and a hint of something familiar- in this case cardamom, in the case of Indecénce, cinnamon. The drydown, at least on me, ends up warm, bourbony, and very woody (I like pencil-shaving scents- Bottega Veneta is a staple for me and does the same). It gives a clean edge to what could be a cloying mess like a Versace, Tom Ford, or Jo Malone. It could be stronger, however the very sheerness of it makes it sexy and all the more wearable. 9/10.

I kept trying Eau Duelle in stores and after the 4th or 5th time of spritzing it on myself and wearing it around the mall I decided to buy the 100ml EDT, which I personally prefer over the EDP for it’s gentler, sweeter scent. The initial spray on my skin smells spicy and peppery but after a minute the vanilla takes over and it becomes a warm, spicy vanilla scent. I spritz behind my ears, on my neck and my two wrists and wore it to work for the first time today. I was so happy when a 6 year old and his dad came into my office and the first thing the little boy said to me after saying hello was “you smell nice!” … even if fellow adults thought I smelled nice they may not tell me, so for a child to say that to me, it was a true and real compliment!!! I love Eau Duelle – she’s a keeper!!!

So nice. I have the Eau de Parfum.
How to describe this? Smells like a bucket of vanilla and saffron sent through one of those fog machines you see at a club. It is an airy, almost aquatic vanilla. I’m a big fan. Very comforting.

    Dear Gillbert,
Eau Duelle EDT smells nothing like Dior Bois d’Argent nor Van Cleef & Arpels Bois d’Iris at all. It might be Diptyque Fleur de Peau that you were smelling or something else, but definitely not Eau Duelle EDT nor EDP.

I can say, it is 90% close to Bois d`Iris Van Cleef & Arpels and Dior Bois d’Argent, creamy and buttery iris, yet powdery, the problem that Eau Duelle has is longevity, too short longevity with maximum 4 hours on my hands, but I love the scent, sensual powdery and sharp in the opening then more refine and calm in dry down

I tried it, and it’s nice. A unique, sexy vanilla. Guys generally like it.
The price tag is too high for poor longevity, however.

A very comforting fregrance right here.
It’s said that most likable note in general is vanilla. But you know what… sometimes vanilla can be quite obnoxious. Here it’s so delicate, unexpectedly well managed in a unique way, yet the scent has an edge.
    Calming beautiful scent.
    * would recommend this to anyone who is maybe having a bit rough time in their life. It will ease your mind and give you power to start appreciating and accept yourself again.

This scent is reminiscent of something.. maybe nothing in particular. it’s just.. innately familiar?
Sorry but it just irked me that someone a few comments down posted about a B.O. note attributing it to cardamom. Is it posible they’ve smelled actual cardamom and know this scent? sure. likely? no. Because there’s nothing rank or body odor-esque about cardamom. Cumin however…
They referenced Cartier fragrances. Many fragrances contain both Cardamom and Cumin. Declaration Fraiche Cartier for men for example. The original declaration smells like it has Cumin as well- though not listed on the notes list. The Cumin give a body odor scent to make it more sexual I suppose, the Cardamom is freshness and fruity spice to counter that and balance it out.
These spices may sound similar but in scent they are nothing alike. Cardamom smells like a fruity fresh spicy, green apple leaf-like scent. Cumin smells like B.O. but it has it’s place. still a valid perfume ingredient when used sparingly.
I buy fresh Cardamom, green, black, ground. Absolutley would recomend getting some. Great for sweet breads and apple pie, many deserts as well as indian dishes.
So sure you can smell a fragrance or ten, read the pyramid and figure, “oh this scent must be this note”.. or you could just buy some Cardamom for your spice cabinet, have some great food and know what it actually smells like.

Yes, it smells like an old book, like a cake, like a cozy bed, vanilla tea with milk before sleep, memory of your birthday, really good pastry, it smells like good vanilla for vanilla haters.
This is how I imagined heaven looks like when I was a kid.
This scent is amazing, it opens up with spices and then it develops in really beautiful yet not overwhelming vanilla. Not sweet, not fake. Vanilla, which knows how to behave. It is gourmand, yes, but in a very good way. It is far better than actual pastry (I don’t know how this is possible). It has something more to it, but I cannot figure out what. It is so pleasant, I could fall asleep.
But, unfortunately, it does not last. At all. Especially according to the price, it is definitely not worth purchasing the whole bottle. I think I will consider buying Diptyque vanilla candle instead, maybe they have something in common.

Vanilla cake with excellent quality icing sitting on a beautifully laid table. A china vase full of blooming yellow flowers sits in the rays of sunlight coming through the window.
The first spray very dry sweet spice. Early on in wearing this perfume there is a synthetic note that lasts a bit too long… an hour or so. Every time I’m experiencing it I resolve once again to move Eau Duelle off my shelf. And then it drifts off and leaves a beautiful full dry yet lush vanilla and I relent.

Like most Diptyques I’ve tried, Eau Duelle is a very light, transparent kind of fragrance, very subtle and close to the skin. Which makes a change from most vanilla scents: there really isn’t much sweetness about this one, let alone an edible factor, and you’d need about a liter of it to make it overwhelming. That makes it a great choice for this time of year, the end of winter, when I’m getting sick of heavy scents but not ready to move on to actual spring-appropriate ones yet. Also, a good vanilla scent for those not overly in love with the note; or inversely a great summer option for those who can’t live without vanilla even in the hotter months.
I’m guessing the name refers to the dual nature of the scent, because in my experience the spices and resins form a separate layer of scent on top of the vanilla, just as transparent, making the total effect velvety smooth. Hard to describe, but very nice!
So I like this a lot, but not quite enough to run out for more now that my sample is empty; all in all, it might be a little too airy for me. I’d like tot try the EDP to see how it compares.

This is a grower. My most favorite fragrances like Oud Palao, or Creed Royal Mayfair had very strong notes that seemed too harsh at first, and then you aquire a taste for those notes with character.
Here the Cardamom is a BO like note I never cared for; But this fragrance is so well blended and composed around this strong cardamom note. I am now getting the unique Beauty of this one, as I aquire a taste for it. The BO cardamom becomes like, your own BO, and it becomes a cozy companion 🙂
I think the Cardamom accord is also a bit floral here, like an earthy safron. OK, I see this does have safron.
It’s why Duelle reminds me of Atelier Cologne’s Santal Carmen. They both have this cozy, homey vib, smelling like an old book.
So the edt is mostly cardamom and vanilla.
I never liked Cardamom as in Cartier’s fragrances. The edt is definitely a cardamom dominant fragrance, then vanilla, and elemi.
Now even though I don’t like cardomon, I think I will be able to enjoy this from time to time. There is a zestiness to the cardomon accord, that makes it fresher and nicer than most cardomon fragrances.
All the notes are high quality and natural smelling, as with most all Diptyque fragrances except “Mage”.
Not a favorite Diptyque for me, but I can understand the high rating, it is a very well blended, high quality fragrance.
It has warm and cozy woody notes and vanilla, contrasted by touches of fresh spice and citrus,, with cardamom at the heart.
PS: My sample of the EDP came in. It has much less cardamom ! Yay, I like it better with less cardamom. No BO in the edp.
I think the Cardamom is a polarizing note. It is a very spicy and distinctive note in the edt, and some will like it more.
So the edp is a bit more bland or smooth, yet more full, with better longevity, though the projection is evenly soft for both. Vanela is the heart of the edp.
The edp is a bit more fresh or zesty, more woody, and slightly leans more masculine.
Both are complex with many notes, but not busy, well blended and composed.
The edp reminds me of MFK Baccarat Rouge 540, done with more natural notes.
With some Diptyque fragrances I think the edt is better than their edp, as with Volutes and Lombre Dan’s L’Eau.
    Rating: 9/10

EDT. first few seconds start peppery and sharp, alot of juniper berries, then the sharp corners disappear, and i get a tiny bit of cardamom with a tinier bit of lemon, sort of like a real pie. In the next few minutes, the lemon fades away and you end up with a watery vanilla, the cardamom is still there but you’ll be lucky to be able to smell either of them after half an hour. This has 0 projection, you have to use ur nose to dig the scent out of your skin. 3hr at best

  21. :

Well this is a first. After wearing this a second time I have discovered that I’m allergic to something in it. I broke out in hives both times. It could be the juniper or maybe an ingredient that’s not listed, so I’m disppappointed. I bought a small .5 ounce travel size so I’m not out a lot of money.
It’s a beautiful resiny vanilla while it lasts, very weak longevity on me, and zero projection. From the moment I spray its a skin scent. I give this a neutral rating but if it works for you then you are lucky.

Cake mix turns to sawdust; a literal interpretation of the idea of nectar turning to ash in one’s mouth.

On my skin, this smells more like heliotrope than vanilla. It’s got that same tobacco chocolate thing like from a pipe smoker, and to me that makes it a more masculine scent. With the dry down comes even more of that element. It’s nice, just not the vanilla I am looking for.

I’m in a moment when I really respect Duelle.
It is a nice fragrance, but I seem to can’t give it a super strong adjective, like splendid!, or fantastic! I believe this was the first Diptyque I ever smell. I twas under the impression that Diptyque was a Niche, minimal brand. It wasn’t until I begin discovering there other scents, like Volute, L’Eau de L’Eau, Eau Lente, L’Autre that I realize this was just …nice (and that Diptyque was much more than Niche).
Just…nice, because at the end of the day I’m just left with a vanilla fragrance, and that’s all( I might smell the saffron or cardamon perhaps but Duelle is all Vanilla to my nose). It’s not a smoky vanilla, or a fruity vanilla, or floral vanilla, Just simply a vanilla., but a really nice vanilla fragrance. If you going to own or you are looking for that perfect vanilla scent, this is it! The longevity; I wore a sample on Tuesday and it is Sunday and it still lingering in my rain coat!
I keep talking myself out of committing to a full bottle of this. ( ‘Oh, you own Mon Guerlain and you committed to getting Shalimar on you Piscean birthday,,,,or my bottle of Tom Ford Orchid Soliel is literally multi-purpose–a gardenia, a vanilla, and when are you ever going to get Black Orchid,, or you never use that bottle of Outremer Vanilla I got on the cheap that compete well with Duelle,,, or you need to replace that bottle of Hypnotic Poison, etc)
However, if my rain coat had anything to say about it, it would say commit, please commit to Duelle, you will not be sorry. We will see, rain coat. May one day we will see!

I have fallen in love with Eau Duelle after some initial reservations. At first it seemed a too sour: I got vanilla, musk, and bitter myrrh. It was almost too much, but like with a lot of great perfumes it needed some time to unfold properly. After 20 minutes it turned slightly floral on me, so it was much softer and better at that point. The bourbon of the vanilla note then took on more of a rum quality in my mind, giving Eau Duelle an…island vibe?(!) Yes, tropical garlands and spiced rum, that’s what this perfume is to me, making it a very summery vanilla. Of course, it is very cozy for cold weather too. I’ve heard of it being a good year-round vanilla; despite its heaviness, this is absolutely true.

  27. :

    3 out of 5

It starts off with a nice, sharp black pepper opening and touches of a soft tea note and vanilla buried way far in the background then after like 20 minutes on my skin the vanilla takes over completely and I can smell nothing else, but that’s ok cause it’s one of the smoothest and the creamiest vanillas I’ve ever smelled that can almost put me to sleep hehe. I think it’s the best fragrance to spray on scarf in fall / winter which is gonna make it last forever. It’s so snuggly and warm I enjoy it very much lasts about 8 to 10 hours on my skin with a nice gentle projection.
Ps: I’m reviewing the edp version.

A lot of people are calling this an oriental, or talking up it’s aromatic qualities, but I don’t get any of that. It’s an expensive-smelling vanilla, unchallenging, pretty, soft, feminine and would make a perfect perfume for a young lady transitioning from sugary celebrity scents into something a bit more polished and chic. That being said, you’re paying an awfully high price point for a vanilla that, at it’s best, is pretty but common and at it’s worst reads as cloying and overly sweet. The vanilla is not a true vanilla to me, but more of a butter/sugar, fatty/sweet frosting-type thing. It’s a vanilla bomb with the slightest bakery twinge, maybe something like a lemon bar. There are those who fall head over heels for these kinds of sugary things, I am not one of them. If you are a vanilla nut, this is probably a safe blind buy. Creamy, clean vanilla with a lot of warmth.

  29. :

I like it more and more every time I wear it. Even though it was launched in 2010 it reminds me of the old beautiful and simple Diptyque scents, something so unique and unmistakably Diptyque. My next purchase.

Eau Duelle is definitely a grower. I had sold it short in an earlier review but, given time, it has revealed itself to be utterly gorgeous, and far from a simplistic vanilla scent. Eau Duelle has worked its way firmly into my loves, and I had to get a bottle.
A warm oriental with aromatic nuances, Eau Duelle is essentially a woody vanilla scent, but it is also so much more than that. There’s a herbal, gently spiced quality that is utterly beguiling – I pick up black tea, juniper and pink pepper. In effect, it is similar to Byredo’s Gypsy Water and Arquiste’s Architects Club, but it is much better finished than either of those. The EDT is firmly unisex, with enough sharpness to prevent it drifting into faceless pillowy warmth. Performance is outstanding – I get full-day longevity with soft projection. I am truly puzzled by claims of poor longevity, which leads me to suspect death-by-vanilla-related anosmia may be to blame.
Overall, Eau Duelle is a huge success from Diptyque. It is enticing, comforting and truly wonderful to wear. Outstanding stuff.

Have worn Eau Duelle EDT, Guerlain Spirituese Double Vanille, Nirvana Bourbon, Louis Vuitton Contre Moi for the past four weeks and loved all except SDV, which was I think the most expensive and had the weakest silage and lasting power. I think my favorite is actually Duelle for its masterfull blend of resinous, spicy, green notes with scrumptious vanilla, it starts off almost like an oriental bittersweet, resinous, green and camphorous almost mentholated and then ends with dark vanilla, very herbal not sweet or gourmand. Lots of people say that it’s somewhat masculine and I would love to smell this on a guy but as a woman who finds vanillas sometime too sweet, synthetic or cloying, I can very much appreciate this well blended masterpiece. Now slot of people don’t likes it’s moderate longevity, on me it lasts about three hours before it turns into a skin scent but it really lingers on clothes and I can smell the vanille notes days after spraying in jacket or sweater especially in hot weather. I prefer the EDT, as it’s fresher and more lime and airier than the EDP, which is darker and much woodier. Love this, it my gateway to more vanilla scents, too bad it’s expensive, will be getting the EDP for winter and fall.

  32. :

    4 out of 5

Wonderful, signature scent worthy EDP that is GONE in a couple of hours. I am so tired of fragrances that disappear. This is going back. For $150 I should be able to smell this throughout the day. What a shame because the notes are magic.

  33. :

    3 out of 5

Very synthetic vanilla. I’m sorry, but I can think of way genuine scented vanilla fragrances. I really did want to like this perfume and it’s not bad, but it’s not a true vanilla. Also, the lasting power on this is pretty weak. It wore off in 2 hours. I suggest going for Diors Addict or Archiects Club by Arquiste. If you are looking for a genuine vanilla scent, you may just be as disappointed as I was with this one.

  34. :

    4 out of 5

A very-very spicy and warm vanilla scent, that has a dominant resin note. It’s feminine and masculine at the same time. More masculine than I thought. I think it’s quite luxurious as a scent from a niche brand should be. I think it’s a suitable scent for winter, I can’t imagine wearing it on a warm day.
It is an elegant oriental scent that could warm up cold autumn and winter days.

  35. :

    5 out of 5

I like the overall tone of Eau Duelle, the warm spicy vanilla, but it definitely has a masculine edge, and that won’t do for me..it has depth, warmth, This isnt your soft sweet vanilla, and to my nose more a cold weather scent..but the unisex vibe won’t do for me..,still I enjoy the smell, just not something I would personally wear..it has a greenish twist too, must be the elemi, which isn’t a note I favor much..like smoky green…outdoorsy almost..Duelle implies the dual nature of this scent, as for me, strictly feminine does better .

  36. :

    4 out of 5

Yummy spicy vanilla it is indeed! I think that on my skin though it leans a bit more masculine than I would like…. so I say it would be sooo much more sexy on a man! It is a yummy vanilla not bland as the spice elevates it and I can feel the elimi and cardamom very delicious! I would be happy if my man wore this in any intimate encounter mmmmmm!

  37. :

    5 out of 5

This is a beautiful woody vanilla with just enough resins and spices to steer it away from toothache territory. Unfortunately, the preponderance of vanilla in modern mainstream perfumery means even the best examples are doomed to become part of the endless wash of blandness. It’s a shame, because Eau Duelle is rich, well rounded, and exquisitely made. Oh well.

  38. :

Love this true vanila spicy scent. The gorgeous, feminine spiciness reminds me of my all time favourite scent Lubin – Upper Ten for her but in a weaker version (not a clone but the vibe is similar) and I love it!
Longevity: weak, EDT lasts max 1h on my skin 🙁 so I must reapply a LOT
Sillage: medium, if I reapply all the time 😀
it might not be the most unique fragrance in the world to perfumistas but I love this wearable but still special fragrance so much. Unfortunately, the longevity is so bad, I would wait for a good deal before purchasing a full bottle…
Whenever I spray this, I get compliments and people always want to know which scent I am wearing. They even google it on the spot. Both men and women would love to wear it after I tell them about it. I hoped Histoires de Parfums – 1899 to be a stronger and longer lasting version of this but it is a bit too heavy for me. Still looking for something similiar with longer lasting power!

What can I say? I wish I could breathe this as my air. Eau Duelle transports me to my happy place every time. I am 4(?!) bottles in now. It is the most expensive perfume I own but I keep coming back for more. The toilette and parfum are quite different on me. I prefer the toilette as the spices are kept a bit more in check and overall I think it reads a tad more feminine on my skin, but I also own the parfum and it is excellent, especially in winter when you need a bit more oomph. The toilette does need to be reapplied every few hours.
I wear this for anything and anywhere, but especially love it when I want a confidence boost and want to come across a bit more intelligent and urbane.
    This is my perfect vanilla.

I never really considered this one until I really sampled and got to know it. Now I love it! It reminds me of Atelier Vanilla Incense but much more complex and luxurious smelling. This is all spice and herbs with a hint of vanilla. Blended to perfection. Very natural vanilla. Like pouring the extract over a pile of pine straw and pine cones. Smells like fall. The only downside is the potency. I normally do just one spray but for this I need around 5 sprays. It sits close to the skin.

I was ready to purchase this fragrance based on the reviews, so I went to Diptyque and sampled it…..lovely – yes, different – NO. I’ve smelled this before! It smells so much like Burberry Woman (the bottle of which I just finished)! When you invest in Diptyque, you want something unusual and new…..and this one smelled very familiar.

  42. :

This is a weird one to me. I was hovering over the like button but ended up going with dislike because I would never wear this. Elemi is one of those notes that I can never seem to put my finger on, in Oriflame Mirage I found it nice, but in this composition it irks me. This is a kind of savory-herbaceous eucalyptus-like vanilla on my skin, vaguely unpleasant and stuffy while also reminding me of those “candies” your grandma used to give you that you found yucky as a kid but now somehow weirdly appreciate.

  43. :

    5 out of 5

lovely but kind of one-note vanilla on me. I am still in search of vanilla in a more complex (spicy, boozy, woodsy) setting. Easy to live with, but can’t help wanting more.

Eau Duelle is a warm blanket, very cosy – come and hug me type of scent. Love it. No sharp notes, just warm softspicy and beautiful. The best cardamom-scent I ever tried. Very longlasting yet an Eau de Toilette. Expensive but really worth every penny.
Dyr men värd varje krona.

Smells very similar to Elizabeth and James Nirvana Bourbon, although E&J has a more pronounced oak note and has much better performance in terms of longevity. Eau Duelle, while being very beautiful, is so incredibly soft… It’s gone in a few hours. I prefer Nirvana Bourbon.

This is like one of those smells that just hits you all of a sudden when you’re strolling around in a great cafe/bookstore/library, and you think, “damn this concoction is magic, I wish they’d bottle it and sell it to me!”
and now you can indeed take it home with you.
When I spritz this on and close my eyes, I am going for a walk on a clear, bright autumn day in Central Park- breezy but not cold with brightly colored leaves crunching under my feet. I have with me a hot cup of vanilla chai, some wholegrain cookies and one of those great vintage first edition books. I choose a bench, sit down, switch off my iphone and just take in the scenery- breathing it all in deeply thinking how great it is to be here, alone, away from all the noise with everything I want in a moment of total peace and contentment. That’s what this beauty smells like.
I think Eau Duelle’s low-keyness, its “restraint” almost (in strength) is a part of its elegance.. but I can’t stop wishing it was stronger. but maybe its meant to be enjoyed selfishly, just to those who have permission to come really close, a little like expensive lingerie 😉

i love love looooove this perfume
when i bought this i was looking for a toasty warm vanilla, not too sweet. and this is that!! i picked it up at the time because i couldn’t find a sample of vanille 44 paris by le labo in my sate.
for some reason when first applied it smells exactly like a pretty dark experience i had with gin in my late teens, but after drying down it is LIFE.
this has been my go-to winter scent for yearssss and i am still not over it.

Vanille insensee by atelier cologne is the EXACTLY SAME smell but only slightly sweeter with higher longevity. I have that in 200ml and this as well. I dont really reach for eau duelle that often now.

Strongest notes that I perceive are vanilla, cardamom/spices, resin, and juniper. This is a very spicy, herbal/woody, and resinous vanilla. Not a gourmand scent in my opinion and definitely unisex maybe leaning slightly fem due to the sweetness. Then again, I personally always perceive juniper as really masculine. I wouldn’t consider the vanilla here an edible type but rather it adds a bit of woody sweetness. I really do like this scent but the performance is completely disappointing especially considering the price for a bottle – I think they charge around $90 for a 50ml bottle. Anyway, I bought a discovery set and am happy I did since I got to try a few fragrances for minimal investment and commitment. This one lasts maybe 2-3 hours before it’s all gone on my skin and it was by far my favorite from the set (others included were Tam Dao, Philosykos, Do Son and L’Ombre Dans L’Eau.)
I’d still like to try a couple candles from this brand but yeah, there are other brands doing similar scents with better longevity and projection. For example, though they’re not dups I get much better performance (like double sillage and longevity) from Vanille Insensee which is a woody/spicy vanilla in the same scent genre and similar price point.

I absolutely love this. I had tried layering it over LaVanila Pure Vanilla because at first it seemed a bit on the masculine side, but its so, so, so much better on its own. Not super femme, but sophisticated and elegant. Boozy, smooth, rich vanilla with my favorite spice, cardamom – which I rarely find used, much less used well and accurately. This is not a simple or childish vanilla. Very sharp at first spray which is what gave me my initial masculine impression; it almost smelled like bitter almond to me. Mellows and smooths out over time. Longevity 4+ hours before becoming very close to the skin; projected probably about arms length. Fantastic & comforting in cold weather. A+

The scarf I sprayed with Duelle last month still smells strongly enough that I don’t feel a need to respray. Mine is the EDP concentration, so that may make a difference. I definitely wouldn’t consider it a skin scent either. I had a sales rep practically jump over the counter to smell me, because she was so enamored with it. Someone being able to smell me from three feet away is sufficient, if not preferable to a larger sillage, but I honestly think you can smell it from further than even that.

This is a linear vanilla fragrance. What you get in the first few minutes is what you get 2 hours later – which is about how long it lasts. At 4 sprays, this has a very, VERY soft sillage. It’s really a skin scent, you need to put your nose into it to feel it at all. I wouldn’t buy the full bottle of this unless you were looking for something very conservative. I prefer more bold scents.

What a lovely, boozy, smoky, vanilla scent! To me, Eau Duelle (EDT) smells like vanilla beans and cardamom in a campfire. I also sense a little bit of tartness from this, most likely from the bergamot. It is mostly sweet and the vanilla is what shines the most on me, but there is a smokiness and slight woodiness to this that prevent it from being too cloying.
Eau Duelle is a scent that I believe would be pleasing to most people’s noses. It is inoffensive and it doesn’t project much, so I like to wear this at work during the day. People do smell it when they hug me, but they have often commented on how great I smell or have asked me what I’m wearing. (Eau Duelle happens to be a favorite of my significant other.) It doesn’t last more than 4 hours on my skin, but it lasts all day and night when I spray this on my clothing.

This is such a soft, pretty vanilla. I would describe this as a slightly spiced melted French vanilla ice cream. Very comforting and cozy. It wants to get a bit resinous, but doesn’t quite get there. I don’t smell any of the individual notes other than the vanilla and occasional pepper note. I can’t imagine that any vanilla lover wouldn’t enjoy this. It’s so soft, pleasant, and does not smell at all foodie to me. Just a lovely daily easy to wear interesting vanilla. Wear time is short, 4 hours on skin, a bit longer on clothes.

My first Diptyque review, I don’t recall being especially drawn to Eau Duelle when casually smelling a bunch of Diptyques, but this seems to have a good reputation as a vanilla/incense blend.
edit ***This is for the EDT version, not the EDP.
The signature note is vanilla, but other notes of note are cardamom, saffron, and of course, olibanum / incense. I don’t quite regard it as a gourmand as the vanilla is the only sweet / food aspect of it, the incense playing second fiddle but still being impossible to ignore.
As with YT reviewer dracdoc, I don’t find that this has much evolu
