Description

Les Parfums de Rosine, a niche perfume house whose perfumes are mostly dedicated to rose, launched their latest fragrance Diabolo Rose. Idea for this perfume belongs to one of the founders of this house, Marie-Hélène Rogeon.

Diabolo Rose is a fresh, floral bouquet of rose and mint, inspired by a popular Parisian drink Diabolo Menthe (mint syrup with lemonade). The top notes include Sicilian bergamot, mint and rose essence. The heart includes rose absolute, lily of the valley and peony. The base encompasses sandalwood, amber and musky notes.

The perfume was created by Francois Robert in 2007.

I love Diabolo Rose, it’s rose, rose, rose, all the way – and I LOVE roses! So naturally, I really love this beautiful perfume. Sweet and delicious rose. Beautiful and glorious rose. It’s a gorgeous bottle too.

This is rose, from beginning to drydown, with green undertone. A nice and neat smell, nothing naughty or wild, just a pleasant scent to be around.
Do not expect mint to go with you the whole time, it is only there for fun at the beginning.
Initially i used it in cooler days but it felt very frustrating because all i could smell is rose absolute and it was cold and damp… and then I found out it performed much better in warmer weather, the heat can bring up the woody & green notes, making it well-rounded.

Roses and mint bubblegum, that’s basically all I can get from it.
Really don’t see anyone who’s not a crazy rose fan and must have them all buying it. Supposedly it’s aimed at younger audience, then why pair a rose that is full bodied and mature with something as lucrative as synthetic peppermint?
Honestly I think the only person that would pull it off would be Candy Candy from a vintage anime.

    What Bond girl said…
A fresh rose touched by Minty tea.
Not a rose fan myself, it’s nice just won’t blow anyone away nor do I see something like this garnering signature status.
    Next!!

Diabolo Rose is a fresh, vivid, natural smelling rose fragrance. It begins with the mint note, then a light citrusy bergamot adds a sparkling touch to the rose, which is quite strong, sweet with a prominent honey undertone, and a bit edgy, but the mint and bergamot balance it out nicely. After the drydown the rose becomes milder and creamy, with a light green kick still present at the background.
Beautiful summery rose in full bloom.

Diabolo Rose… Such a pretty name! Diabolo menthe, diabolo fraise, diabolo citron… fizzy refreshing drinks conjuring up memories of childhood. “Diabolo” has a mischievous and cute connotation in french. That was also my beloved cat’s name.
So concerning Diabolo Rose I didn’t expect anything dark or sexy, but something sparkling and malicious. And so it is. The mint, rose, lily-of-the-valley and tea work beautifully together. I thought it would remain mainly floral/aromatic like the fresh Flora Botanica but the drydown is really warmer. A great summer fragrance for rose lovers who want something a bit unusual.

It’s pretty clear that the folks at Les Parfums de Rosine have a huge vat of rose juice from which they draw the base of every single one of their creations. Fortunately, it’s a fine rose juice, which is why if one likes any of their perfumes, there’s a good chance that one will like all of them, since many are only slight variations on the fundamental Rosine rose theme.
A case in point, DIABOLO ROSE opens with a very detectable peppermint and tea complex, which initially makes it seem as though the roses will not be in prominence in this particular composition. That impression proves within the course of an hour to have been false, as the rose rises again like a phoenix to dominate this perfume. The peppermint and the tea (maté is listed, by I find this “tea” less green and bitter…) pretty much evaporate away, leaving the Rosine rose juice behind. This entry in the line-up ends up being a short-lived variation on the theme.
DIABOLO ROSE is definitely nice for rose lovers and Rosine aficionados, in particular, but I think that some of the other variations offer longer-lasting embellishments than those presented here. By the drydown, one would be hard-pressed to identify any lingering traces of the non-rose components of this composition. Well, at least I find it difficult to do!

I never knew rose and mint could be such a good combo; it actually works really well, and I must say, I love this perfume!
Like many members have mentioned before me, the name Diabolo did “throw me off its scent trail”, but it also got me to grab this bottle for testing, which is a good marketing technique when you want your perfume to stand out at the counter. After reading above that it actually referred to a drink, the name makes much more sense.
It’s simple and straightforward in attitude, but don’t mistake that for a cheap or uncomplicated scent. It is a really well blended confection of herbs and flowers and woodsy elements. I can see myself using this through spring, summer and autumn.
Pleased with the longivity too–one spray on the wrist is still going strong 5hrs later.
EDIT: Just purchased it last week in March 2013. It was a long wait, but well worth it. It smells as fresh as I remembered. Looking forward to wearing this delightful, refreshing scent in the spring and summer. Chloe EDP is my cold weather rose scent and this will be my warm weather one. The opening and midnotes are the best on this one. The 50ml bottle is very compact and easily portable for reapplications.

It is a puzzling name to give this scent. Because the name “Diablo” conjures up images of a sinful beast of a scent: full of lust and forbidden temptations. This is most certainly not. It is fresh, innocent, pleasant, green, woody and finishes with a soothing, dreamy quality. It is not what I term a “hard hitter”. But it’s modestly delightful and categorically good quality nonetheless. Very fresh and long-lasting, there is something uplifting and precious in this scent. Like holding part of mother nature on your skin. It would make a good daytime scent for those who like both rose and green scents – in this case a combo of both. Sniffing it is like walking into a rose garden first thing in the morning when the first mist hits and rises, coating all the roses and greenery with it’s veil and the earth, grass and leaves are still damp. For those of us who love mother nature and gardens, it could be winner.

I am not a fan of rose as a prominent fragrance note, but I gave this a try. A big, bold summer rose, a bit brash and proud of itself. I did not discern the mint note as clearly as some of the reviewers here; as the development continued, the scent remained true to the rose, almost enough to make you think it might be a soliflore. I was reminded of the rose waters and soaps that were in vogue years ago – it had that oldish reminiscence. In the last stages of the dry-down, the fragrance rounds out and takes on the character of a slightly subdued rose bouquet. Longevity is exceptional on this one – it even lasted through a shower!

I just sprayed some tester onto my wrist just a little while ago, I think this is the best rose perfume I’ve ever smelled.
First whiff was Bulgarian Damascena Rose Oil. It has that disticnt sweet honey smell about the rose…
After about 20 minutes, I noticed mint and bergamot.
It’s not a strong or loud perfume with super sillage, but this is the only rose perfume that I ever thought smelling like the real rose flower (other perfumes have a nice rose smelling but it is in different quality as this)…
I am seriously thinking of buying this!
This is an elegant, perfect rose.

Having never been all that much of a “rose” guy, as far as perfumes go, I was astounded, at having my breath truly taken away, by the (no less than) EIGHT large sample vials from Les Parfums de Rosine that icekat was gracious enough to send to me in my last package. Until that point, I had only ever smelled Rose d’Homme (and adored it), but now that I have THESE lovelies…I consider myself a true rose perfume fan!
How boring, I thought, to have a House that JUST makes rose perfumes; PdR is ANYTHING BUT boring. They have taken the Queen of Flowers and distilled her myriad of essences in amazing and simply stunning compositions.
On seeing the name printed elegantly on the vial in gold script, I had os-magined this to be “Devil Rose”; something dark and fierce, bordering on sinful, that could make some more light-hearted floral fans run screaming for the nearest bottle of industrial strength sanitizer. What greeted my nose, upon dabbing some on my inner forearm, was simply astounding! Imagine, if you will, a rose in midsummer; in full bloom, after it is open fully but before the petals begin to wane in color and drop to the ground. Surround it with the most heavenly mint you can imagine (for me that is spearmint) and light translucent citrus notes. Like the Parisian drink (lemonade with mint syrup) this is cool and demulcent, somewhat calming and very refreshing. Some ROSE scents are just TOO MUCH, this however is so natural and beautiful; capturing the true aura of the rose and framing her with bright and refreshing aspects. All the heart notes are growing in my garden, right now. THIS smells better than my garden does….sharp green aromatic tomato leaves, lily-of-the-valley and two roses combine with the creamy “pee-knee” (what my nieces call peonies) blossoms to create something utterly floral and earthy, without ever really muddling the intrinsic grandeur of the rose! Tea, in the base of all places, keeps the otherwise oriental notes of sandalwood and amber “light” and playful; while a very clean musk sneaks in, while you are not looking, to augment the seductive qualities she already possesses (as if she needed it!). Another reviewer mentioned “rose in a blender” perfumes, THIS is not one of those…more like someone gently squeezed pure rose essences into a bottle and skillfully blended it with sunny greens and other fancy stuff. This is not (I repeat NOT) your grandmothers “Roses, Roses”, but a timelessly superlative olfactive offering from a house that doesn’t mess around with trends, it sticks to what it knows ROSES, and does it very well.
    Sillage: very good
    Longevity: excellent
    Overall: 4/5
A few days before trying this scent, I dabbed on some LPdR Rose d’Ete (summer rose) from a small sample sent to me by someone else…it is lighter and a bit more summery; however Diabolo Rose, to me, is a perfect summer floral perfume. Heavy enough to be provocative, but brisk and green enough to keep back summer’s heat and humidity-without a single hair frizzed or out of place. Parfums de Rosine: keep doing what you are doing! I never thought I would say this, but I LOVE rose perfumes…when they are done RIGHT. These guys truly know their roses and each and every one I have smelled (so far) has been outstanding!

This is one of the most popular Rosines, I understand, but I was rather underwhelmed by it. Simple rose and mint fragrance, and a rather toothpaste-like mint note too. 6/10 on my list.

This a lovely ‘fresh’ yet warm scent, great for warm weather. It’s basically a warm minty rose, with bergamot and peony lingering in the background.
Staying power is not bad, sillage is okay. Definitely work-safe.
Can’t go wrong with this if you like light rose scents and/or if you’re a fan of the Rosines line.

Diablolo, sounds mean. loud ,heavy to me but sure that is not the case with that lovely summer fragrance, the mint in here is great in the opening and then the roses take over just wonderfully, then my second favorite flower the peony let detect itself beautifully..very nice perfume indeed.

The mint is momentary but so marvelous! This special, unique, combo of top notes sparkle, and dazzle my mind and nose. For once I can say I have found what I consider a “happy scent”.
The bergamot adds a lively feeling, not a citrus note, but a vibrant touch. Once the top notes fade off, there is resounding rose and petulant peony. The rose is slightly sticky or resinous, but made airy and lighter via the addition of tomato leaf and lily of the valley. The tomato leaf is prominent, the lily of the valley shy..and the tea…is a healthy green or white tea. It has been steamed strongly with young leaves plucked right off the bush. The herbacous, but soft, tea note, and dewy tomato leaf, interact, keeping the scent fresh as spring and sunny as summer for hours. The tea note also reacts with the rose, so well; an inviting and intriguing mixture the two make. The sandalwood, amber, and musk, quietly play in this enormous and elegant garden. So many contrasts of form and flower here, fantastic!

I thought, why would they call it Diabolo Rose? Is there something dark and mysterious in it? No, it was named Diabolo, because of the parisian drink which includes mint syrup and lemonade. Yes, it’s very fresh and feminine, gentle, fresh, tomato leafy.. I keep thinking that it isn’t quite my style, but I can’t deny that it’s unique and very interesting perfume, very original as well. I think that it’s the fragrance you fall in love with time or certain season, because my relationship with it is complex- I like it, but I don’t love it, but I find it interesting and original.
At first it’s very fresh and I really feel the rose, citruses, tomato leaf and mint that smells like peppermint from my garden, I often make my tea more fancy by adding few leaves to it. But it won’t stay forever, half an hour and it’s over. I’m with tomato leaf surrounded by roses. I have a very complicated relationship with tomato leafs or smell of tomato in general, I even don’t like to eat fresh tomato’s (but I do Love ketchup and tomato flavored crisps and I bake tomato’s with eggs for breakfast sometimes). Here I smell sometimes tomato flavor that reminds me of those crisps (it must be this heavenly saltiness in it) and makes me hungry right now, and it’s 12 am.
So this is how it is- I sit in a room with fresh rose bouquet in a vase and I am starving for tomato crisps! Might be funny but I’m definitely going for some tomorrow. That’s my story.
P.S. I edited this review, but I’ve fallen in love with this stuff fast.

If you searching a wonderful refreshing/cool spring and summer scent Diabolo Rose is the perfect one.
I also think the name don’t match really but it’s not a problem because the scent itself is so wonderful.
The opening is so fresh and floral you smell the mint and it’s so cool, you also smell the pretty rose and it’s aqueous.
Later it becomes a bit softer and reminds me bit at chloe chloe edp.
It’s sad that the scent last not such a long time after two hours i smell the scent only from near.
Diabolo Rose is really feminine and so fizzy also a bit spicy, the advertisement poster shows perfect how the scent smells,it’s like roses in mint water.
This fragrance is perfect for all Occasion and it smells luxurious/ natural and not synthetic. The Bottle is also so great and cute and the colors of the drawstring match to the fragrance.I can’t wait to get a big bottle of it.

Diabolo Rose is not a suitable name for this chameleonic perfume. Chameleon rose? Definitely a rose, but – diabolo?
    But let me explain.
At first – a powerful, green, sparkling rose, slightly oily, a little arrogant, majestic in her self assurance and belief that each of her centifolia petals is perrrrfect.A Cat Rose! Scratches you with a perky tomato leaf….
Then Diabolo unfolds as a thick, yellowish Bulgarian rose oil. You can definitely smell the peony, that lost all it`s spring freshness under the weight of the rose oil – it`s dripping from the peony, from a defeated tomato leaf and already completely suffocated the lily of the valley, that showed up just for one tiny minute and was smothered by this oily abundance.
In the base it is a lovely rose petal tea, not very strong, with a dollop of sandalwood oil.
As much as I was interested in a Diabolo rose, it left me a bit confused.
    Must try it again….
