People who think Colòn and colon are roughly the same thing are obviously self-centered oaf hence advised not to flaunt their ignorance. Is it really so hard for some to deal with one perfume naming process that presumably has not taken to heart the perspective of them American-speakers’?
That proud Swedish dude is a joke as well.

I don’t have a review because I have not smelled this perfume, but my post was deleted because I tried to make a silly joke and, at the end of the day, this perfume stuff is just stinky water, nothing to fight over. There are more serious things in life, like cancer, war, death, social unrest to worry about then which stinky water smells better. Life is too short to politicize stinky water.

I thought this place was meant for reviews, and not for mindless “jokes” about fragrance’s names (the forums are meant for that if someone wants to)…
… or for people to say others are “offended” only because they are replying with some facts, or for people to express how they believe they can say something in the name of Charlie Hebdo (for real!), when nothing points to any massacre or “censorship” happening around here (comments sometimes get so many “thumbs down” from other members that they will disappear from the perfume’s page).
    I was wrong. 🙂
So maybe that would be better to go with the flow and add some useful tips here…
    Boiled Water Recipe:
Place water in large enough pot to hold 3 cups without boiling over.
    Turn burner on high.
Do not watch pot or it will take forever.
Do not leave unatended or you will burn the house down.
    Remove pot from burner.
    Turn burner off.
Use immediately or you will have to repeat recipe.

Thanks for delete my post of yesterday but I will always replace in the name of Charlie Hebdo and freedom of expression:
    “Discovering Colon?
Is this a journey into the intestine?
I don’t dare to imagine what this scent smell like.
Is this the very-dirty version of fifty Shades of Grey?
I understand that this must have another meanings in spanish, but please, they could have a look at what usually colon is for the rest of the world.”
I add if you are a big company you need to consider that some people can make hilarious jokes if an accent is easily replaceable or not considered. You have to prevent that and it is better to choice something else.
And I remember that this is a perfume not a book. Intellectual names are even “too much” especially if the risk, I repeat, is to recall something not properly ” heavenly perfumed”.
Colon is medical/latin word. colon is colon in england usa france italy germany is Kolon in some north europe countries and is koron (pronounce colon) in Japanese. Colon is colon even in spain.
Colòn is something else i know but well…
PS: miniwidget maybe they did with intention to make a play on words and recall hyrax or real musky notes! Thanks Colin, clear smart and polite.

Oh dear, did not mean to offend 400 million spanish speaking people…..it is tru that we spend a lot of time on-line making stupid jokes…..just as we spend equal amount of time on-line searching for things to get offended by….a reduction of both appears to be prudent….:-)

If more people would try to know better other countries and other cultures, rather to spend their time making stupid jokes in the Internet, the world would be a much more better place. As Spanish, I find rather offensive some commentaries here about this perfume and its name. Loewe, despite its name, is a classic Spanish luxury brand, stablished in Madrid. And the correct name of this perfume is Descubriendo Colón (with capital C and accent in the second o), not colon. It aludes to Christopher Columbus, the famous explorer, who in Spain is known as Cristóbal Colón, but also to a very famous monument in Madrid, dedicated to him. Since Loewe has its headquarters here in Madrid, and has produced yet some perfumes inspired in other famous places in Madrid (like La Cibeles o El Capricho) it makes some sense.
The perfume itself, in my opinion, is very overpriced, and somewhat generic (it seems that, in our days, they must put oud and musk in everything). I think they would have done better bringing back the long discontinued Loewe 2 (that they even don’t have here, in the Fragrantica database), that many people miss dearly.
    You welcome.

Chorando: Don’t make an effort trying to explain to all ignorant people that for example think they are the only ones who live in America.

Kl99. English isn’t spoken in the rest of the world. In fact more people speak Spanish than English. The worlds most spoken languages are the Chinese dialects (1200 Mil), followed by Spanish (399 Mil) followed by English (335 Mil)So the word Colón (with a tilde) is recognized as being the correct surname of Christopher Columbus by more people in the world than those who recognize it as being the English word for el colon (without the tilde) which does mean Colon. So for many, including those at Loewe, which is after all a Spanish company (though admittedly owned by LVMH),when they read the name of the fragrance they think Discovering Colombus, and not discovering a portion of your alimentary canal.
