Description
DAVIDOFF Agar Blend is the second opus of DAVIDOFF Blend Collection, a new line of perfumes directly inspired by the life and values of the company’s founder. Zino DAVIDOFF spent most of his existence exploring the world, looking for the finest materials and the most talented artisans. His dedication to refinement and quality is perfectly reflected by DAVIDOFF’s motto: passion for excellence, pleasure in life.
The DAVIDOFF Blend line, DAVIDOFF’s first collection, pays tribute to this vision.
Each fragrance is carefully designed around a specific note sublimated by a careful selection of extremely qualitative and refined ingredients. The elegant sobriety of the bottle offers a perfect counterpoint to this sophisticated alchemy. True to this philosophy and following first fragrance, DAVIDOFF Leather Blend, the new DAVIDOFF Agar Blend combines the brand’s savoir-faire and one of the most sought-after and luxurious substances from the Orient: oud wood.
DAVIDOFF Agar Blend was designed for connoisseurs who fully appreciate the importance and rarity of true distinction. They seek only the most exclusive materials and skilled workmanship. His sense of taste and style earns him respect and admiration while his unassuming self-confidence makes him irresistibly seductive.
Master perfumer Alienor Massenet (IFF) conceived DAVIDOFF Agar Blend as a bridge between the Western and Eastern cultures. To illustrate it, she imagined a rich and terribly addictive oriental woody fragrance. In the top notes of the fragrance, sophisticated cinnamon leaves create a slightly spicy prelude with light clove undertones to which black pepper adds a drier, fresher and more vibrant dimension. This striking overture is followed by agarwood, also known as Oud, the most expensive wood in the world. Raw and sophisticated at the same time, oud is a lush and incredibly sensuous note that introduces a mildness characteristic of the Oriental perfumery tradition. Guaiac wood oil reinforces this suave, hypnotic facet and brings soft and balsamic woody notes to the fragrance. In the drydown, emblematic ingredients of the Middle East enhance the agarwood trail. The long-lasting benzoin mingles its sweetness with the addictive mystery of ambreine and a vibrant amber accord.
DAVIDOFF Agar Blend’s flacon exudes a timeless and deeply masculine elegance. A distinctive groove runs along the side of the heavy glass bottle whose translucent shadows allude to the dark colour of the agarwood resin. The name of the fragrance appears on a golden metallic sheet while DAVIDOFF’s double D icon is branded on top of the solid black and gold cap. The textured carton box with its matching embossed tag and golden monogram perfectly complements the sober grace of the enclosed flask.
Davidoff Agar Blend was launched in 2015.

The opening is very harsh that it can put you off , the dry down is okay . 6.5/10

Since trying and loving Leather Blend, I’ve been itching to try the other extant Blends from Davidoff–Agar, Amber, Wood–and am pleased to try Agar.
This is a nice sweet oud fragrance, a blend that starts out sharp and dries down sweet, opening with more of the spicy elements of clove, pepper, and it dries down with a healthy dose of amber and guaiac.
It’s spicy and sweet throughout, the amber coming out especially to give a creamy / sweet aspect.
Performance is strong and if it can be found at a good price, this is a worthy buy. At one point, Agar and Leather Blends were available on the US site for Notino at around $60 for 100ml, but the site has since shut down its US operations, and so the scents have again become de facto Middle East exclusives. Is it worth $200? Probably not. But $60? Surely.
8 out of 10

tried this some time ago, honestly I didn’t like the oud note even though I’m an oud fan. there are better oud fragrances in the market.

This was an impulse buy in the Nairobi Kenya airport. I have owned Leather Blend for quite a while and was happy to see this one in the duty free shop. I am glad I added it to my collection!
Although not listed in the notes, Agar Blend opens with a dried fruit vibe that reminds me a bit of YSL noble Leather. As the scent matures it becomes a warm sweet wood. A slightly sweet creamy oud that is very smooth. One of the easiest Oud scents to wear IMO. If you have wanted to try an oud fragrance, but have been a bit timid, this is the oud for you.
AB is very much a unisex scent. I get moderate projection and good longevity on my skin. I can wear this in formal or casual attire.
Bottom line: You should try a sample of this one.

Bought this alongside “Wood Blend”. So far, I’m “enjoying” the fragrance. Reticent oud hovers in the background all through its seemingly ephemeral lifespan. I do hope to relax and enjoy “Agar Blend” really well. On the flipside, “Wood Blend” is superb! Check out my reviews on the fragrance!

this one is all about the dry down, at first sniff most people will find it blaah and pass..but that drydown and longevity is amazing.it smelled better with time.i love all three in the line for different reasons….agar blend lacks the darkness but smooth oud and sweetness all the way, high class

It really gives headache sometimes when you are smelling in directly to it but when it lingers around the smell it great! Projection is quite impressive though.
7/10

I sampled this today and I got a whiff of Jean Paul Gaultier’s Ultra Male but as it starts settling it becomes very very synthetic to the end. I was in love with it in the beginning but disliked it at the end.
Update
I don’t think I can wear this cos it’s headache inducing at the end. Try before you buy. Don’t blind buy.

I had high expectations over this one, and was almost going to blindly buy it online as the hype over it is getting much wider but, I was not able to wait any longer so, I went to the local store where I live and tried it, and god! I was really disappointed.
Too sweet for me, interesting blend, yet overly sweet. A blast of synthetic cherry that is irritating.
At the first sniff, it reminded me of the cheap not-very-well-blended “Insurrection II Wild” by Reyane Tradition.
Remember this one? The hype that was all over the community of how it resembles Pure Havane. Yeah, it smells exactly like this one to my nose. Well, sorry.. this is not for me,
Not for any one who doesn’t like sweet fragrances.

I got Oud first & foremost but sitting right behind is a mixture that’s very sweet, floral but not too floral, not a powdery type of floral. unisex indeed. I found it a bit too sweet but I’ve never been a huge fan of sweet. I can wear sweet but I like it to wear off & this stuff lasts forever. There’s no doubt about the quality. This & Leather Blend are the best that Davidoff currently has to offer.
It reminds me of Davidoff’s Hot Water Night in the Oud first scent but HWN is more masculine & in EDT strength.
Overall this is a high quality cologne/perfume.

Agar blend to me smells a lot like
two others i have in my collection
the first one is jil sander simply
for women the other is
Khurafi Lattafa Perfumes tho its a bit
more gourmandise than agar blend i think
both of them are equals to buy if you cant
afford agar blend, in my opinion they are both
just as good maybe even better and a whole lot cheaper.

This is indeed a nice addition to the Blend Collection. The opening is strong oud but morphs into kinda sweet, spicy scent- thanks to amber and cinnamon. Quite enjoyable and suits better the colder season..
BreeskRer – :
For me this is more masculine than for women . as a masculine perfume it is beautiful. my husband was blown away .. well this is now my husband’s favourite together with tom ford’s black orchid and terre d’hermes…chapeau!!
senior.kru4inin – :
A soft oud fragrance.
While good, there’s a certain bitterness to it. Not the good, masculine kind of bitterness, but a mildly repulsive one, unfortunately.
I LOVE Leather Blend & Agar Blend is a disappointment in comparison.
Still, Agar Blend is a decent fragrance that many will enjoy.

Seems Davidoff has discovered the formula for creating dark masculine fragrances… Hopefully this comes out as another masterpiece… just like Leather Blend…
Edit : Got a chance to sample it yesterday @ Dubai Mall, quite an interesting and intriguing perfume. Its not heavy, after spraying it gets quite soft on skin, although the smell is on the darker side but i guess not a beast or projection monster.
Well balanced and good smelling fragrance, Leather Blend is more potent and has more projection or may be cuz, I was also trying other heavy hitters from Laurent Mazzone, Tom Ford and Armani Private Collection.
It’s a definite buy in coming days.. cuz its quite interesting.. Well Done Davidoff…
