Description

Calvin Klein launched the famous feminine perfume Obsession in 1985. This perfume marked the decade. The first men’s version, Obsession for Men, was introduced a year after the original. Other editions include feminine Obsession Sheer from 2002, Obsession Night for women and for men from 2005 and Secret Obsession for women from 2008. Calvin Klein presents Dark Obsession, a new masculine addition to the collection, in early 2013.

Dark, opulent and addictive, the new Dark Obsession fragrance is described as powerfully masculine and intensely sensual. The composition is a modern aromatic-oriental. It begins with bitter notes of Brazilian green mandarin, guarana and absinthe. Woody and aromatic tones of French clary sage, fir resin and white vetiver form the heart. The base is extremely warm due to Madagascar vanilla bean, suede and labdanum.

The face of the perfume is model Matthew Terry. The fragrance is available as 75 and 120 ml Eau de Toilette, as well as body spray.

this does indeed last on the skin for the whole day. its almost like it sinks into your skin and brought up with a raise with body temperature. This leaves a soft trail behind you and projects softly as well. this smells like a mysterious version of obsession for women with masculine undertones. very sexy imo. this lasted about 10 hours on my skin. keep in mind that the nose becomes “blind” to the scent you wear after awhile.

Overall this is just okay-ish because I enjoy the vanilla dry down. But there’s something in this that, on me, gives off a somewhat heavy floral note. That floral note I don’t like. Maybe it’s the sage or the labdanum? Possibly the guarana as I don’t know what that is. I honestly don’t know and I haven’t learned much about florals because they aren’t my thing. That floral scent seems to give out after two hours or so but that one strange note keeps me from wearing this too often. In a fragrance called “Dark” I just don’t think that belongs or fits very well. Anyways, I do find it frustrating how one note, just one single note, that mixes with your body wrong or that your nose doesn’t agree with can mess up what is/can/should be an awesome fragrance. Knowing that one note is there seems to make my nose zero in on it and kinda ruins it for me. That’s how close this is to being great to me. On others, I’m sure that the floral note is less or not even recognizable so I totally understand if many people really like this one. For me, it’s just not quite right and I really wished I’d tested it first as I regret blind buying this based on notes and reviews.

Tested in shop. This is musky and deep like Joop Homme but without the raspberry! Rich and beautiful musk. Goes sweeter in the dry down but is more masculine than Joop in my opinion. This is a solid and well performing fragrance. Not for warm or hot days.

Fresh/spicy and sweet, this is what I get from Dark Obsession.  Not overly sweet, more spicy than sweet. Beautiful for year round use, safe and versatile. I always loved CK house for its quality/price ratio no matter the performance which is good specifically for this Dark Obsession. Definitely the drydown is a mile better than its opening and it performs better in cool summer evenings like.. today. Not the best scent but decent and pleasant.
My friend says it smells chocolate, I can’t detect chocolate. All I get is well balanced vanilla with strong spices and a very pleasant vibe which looks like a mix of cacao/faint anise/lavender-ish mint candy, I guess this is guarana. I’ve never smelt guarana before. Vanilla and this strange combo have equal strenght. Vanilla is not the big boss as the note pyramide voting shows. I bought it in the spot 75 ml bottle with very good discount, really cheap. I also get noticeably sage, wormwood, mild suede and there’s a faint mandarine throughout the whole life of it.
Sometimes it reminds me energy drink or the delicious mix of coca-cola / coffee that I used to drink in Bulgaria. Very popular combo there.
Sillage/projection are moderate. I’m still evaluating the longevity. It seems a moderate one, definitely is not weak like many CK offerings.

I always base my assessment of a fragrance on the dry down which is everything to me. Basically because this is the scent you’ll be left with during the majority of its wear.
Upon dry down this fragrance exudes the aroma of a root beer float on a warm sunny day, and in no way am I saying that in negative context. The wafts of rich vanilla creaminess is delightful. I have been loving this scent so far. Definitely going to place this frag in my current rotation.

I love Obsession for men and it’s easy to snif its ADN in this fragrance..
The opening is freshy but not zesty … There is a strong swweet note (Guarana seeds) tamed by some Wormwood bitterness.
The fragrance then evolves to a more woody and balsamic notes, while a certain freshiness persists but an herbal one.
The dry down is very pleasant. It’s mysterious, a bit dark and sexy.
Let us see what the maths tell us about this EDT:
    Scent opening: 8.0 (my judgement)
Scent dry down: 8.5 (my judgement)
Longevity: 7.5 (average for the existing notes)
    Sillage: 7.0 (same as longevity)
Uniqueness: 8.0 (it remembers me of Obsession EDT, CK Shock and Guerlain Instant EDT)
Wearability: 7.5 (Winter, Autumn, Spring, Night and Day)
Versatility: 7.5 (yes to socializing, events, formal encounters, night out, restaurants, dating, office, …)
    Quality: 8.0 (my judgement)
Presentation: 8.0 (simple but effective, not tacky; good sprayer)
Price: 8.5 (125 ml tester for 19.50 Euros)
Overall rating for this fragrance: 7.85/10.00

I got Calvin Klein Dark Obsession in a decant from a cheap eBay score. I really regret it, a I don’t really like it. This is even though i do think Calvin Klein Dark Obsession is pretty much a modern day Elizabeth Taylor Passion for Men. But with that said, it is in no way as good as Passion (for men). Passion is nearly a love for me while this isn’t. Passion is deeper, more mature, longer lasting, better projecting and most importantly better smelling. I always thought Passion was similar to Obsession for Men so this means that Dark Obsession is a less complex flanker to the original Obsession for Men. I don’t like Obsession and Dark Obsession is pretty much along those lines. Short response, if you don’t like Obsession for Men, you’ll most likely not like Dark Obsession too.
The scent of Dark Obsession is a throwback to the 1980’s when a lot of men’s fragrances had fir in them such as Drakkar Noir and Passion. That said, it is streamlined. There are less notes and they are mostly noticeable except labdanum and the wormwood being the two i don’t really notice at all. I get assault of the guarana giving it an energy drink like smell and the fir on initial spray. This mixture really doesn’t work to me. Then it settles into a vanilla and suede base. I would like to note that I do not see I anyway this smells like LIDG EDT at all.
Performance is on par with modern versions of Drakkar Noir, though it don’t seem to project all that well. It lasts about five to six hours. It only works in cooler seasons especially night time. I can see this working for dates but that is it because of the aforementioned projection issue. It is too limited in use IMHO.
Dark Obsession to me is a sent that if you have either Drakkar Noir or Passion for Men, you can skip and not worry about it. If you want a flanker to Obsession for Men that smells close to it but different enough, this does work for that but make sure you don’t own either fragrance that I mentioned with distinct fir notes. As you can guess, I don’t like Obsession so I will rate this a 5.6 for a dislike.

I tried it at Sephora’s and realize that this is a very good fragrance.
I I usually don’t apreciate much the Calvin Klein fragrances. I only have 2 frags from CK and this will be the 3d.
It’s not as dark as I would like it to be, but I know I will like it a lot anyway.
I will review it after buying it.

—-Interesting fragrance! It took me while to appreciate it. It has a nutty, creamy vibe with a touch of freshness at the top, probably the orange. I usually become anosmic to vanilla after 15-20 minutes so I get the suede leather and creamy, roasted nuts for the life of the fragrance.
—-The suede is too prominent to my liking but it’s a nice, smooth suede, almost like a brand new pair of high-quality suede shoes.
—-It’s a good fragrance, not very dark if you like leather, suede and it would definitely work in the cold winter months. For me, I enjoyed it but I would not buy a second bottle. So sample first before you buy because I ended up with a 120ML bottle and it took me a long time to finish it. Who knows, you might actually like it for yourself!

after the total disaster that obsession night was, it is indeed a totally pleasant surprise. a safe buy and you can often pick up it up for a bag of peanuts. i picked up a handsome little 75ml bottle for 12 EUR (in Ibiza of all places, not exactly the home of bargains). many girls like it, then again with dark chocolatey-powdery notes its not a big surprise (how dark chocolate is not listed among the ingridients is beyond me). great little frag for the winter. its a CK so you know you wont get a performance beast, but decent enough.
what i do recommend to avoid at all prices is obsession night. i picked that up on a supersale too quite a few years back, and it was a tired, old man, cloying smell, instead of compliments people would give you just a weird look with that one. so beware not to confuse the two. this is legit. of course a bit too one dimensional to really wear it for a long time or make it a signature frag, but for sure a cheap and fun way to spice some of your winter days up.

A couple of days ago, I saw this perfume at a store for a very attractive price–$35 for a 200 ml. bottle! After serious consideration (at that price, I thought it was not original), I decided to take the risk and bring it home.
Recently sprayed, Dark Obsession smells very similar to classic Obsession For Men, with a lot of presence and sweetness; nonetheless, after ten minutes, it turns towards a different direction–you feel fruity sweet notes with vanilla, and the absence of musk gives it a more modern and clean touch. In addition, the absinthe provides the composition with a boozy aura. The herbal accords of clary sage, fir balsam, and vetiver strengthen the earthy character that is typical of classic Obsession, although the other notes take the perfume to a gourmand territory that is fresher and more dynamic, turning it into a magnificent reinterpretation of an “old” fragrance to conform to current times and tastes. Drydown is perhaps the best part since you perceive a kind of chocolaty cappuccino with vanilla and suede, which is very soft and pleasant.
In terms of performance, Dark Obsession offers 5 to 7-hour longevity on skin, with low to moderate projection and sillage, attributes that can be enhanced when reapplying the perfume. It is mostly a nighttime fragrance, ideal for cool weather, although it can be used during the day. I think it can be over-applied without exceeding the sprays. It has good seductive potential due to its addictive notes.
Despite its discreet performance, I’ve liked Dark Obsession a lot. Besides, because of its low price, I think the value for money relation is quite positive.
    Fragrance: 9/10
    Longevity: 8/10
    Projection: 6/10
    Sillage: 6/10
    Value for Money: 7/10
    Versatility: 9/10
    Total Score: 7.5/10

really love this fragrance,my only complaint is i wish it was a little stronger,i can see the similarity with obsession, but its more of a modern version i feel, lovely, sweet, smooth drydown, lasts better on clothes.good value but a little hard to find.

This is a hidden gem, it’s easily one of my most complimented fragrances. Girls go absolute bananas over this stuff. The amount of compliments I have received is insane
It’s definitely a Winter date night / intimate scent in the same category as The one, La’Nuit etc… it’s modern, dark, masculine and very seductive.
For anyone wanting a date scent this is perfect. even though they do not smell the same, this would be a great substitute for the now reformulated La’Nuit Del’Homme by Yves saint Laurent.
Only downside being the longevity. I get an average of 4 hours with this. However I think the smell and the cheap price make up for this. Projection is also light, but being an intimate scent that is expected.
Overall this is a dark, masculine Winter time seductive masterpiece.

  14. :

    4 out of 5

This is a winner, and to my nose is actually unique.
How do I describe the scent… it’s like Christmas. Citrus-spice-woodsy opening. Citrus is slight and quickly gives way to a combination of evergreens and almost a chai tea/root beer type vibe – must be the combo of guarana/absinthe and vanilla, I suppose. Smooth and very nice.
The extended dry down draws back some of the evergreens and pushes forward a creamy vanilla suede accord, with just enough of the mid-notes to bring balance and keep it out of cloying territory. I think I have a problem… I can’t stop sniffng this stuff on my damn arm.
In general, Dark Obsession stays close (I think) and is not likely to telegraph itself – but at a close distance, I can see it being a major crowd pleaser. If there is one downside to this otherwise unique and wonderful fragrance, it’s somewhat short-lived for me. Well worth using a little extra, though.
Another triumphant blind buy! Thank you Fragrantica and especially all the reviewers who give valuable feedback on which I’ve made many a happy purchase!

Straight off the bat, I’m a huge fan of Obsession! This is a flanker and it bears no resemblance to the original.
Opens with a burst of vanilla and chocolate and the first thing that comes to mind is Rochas Man, but less intensive. Upon dry down the suede settles as it’s base and helps balance out the sweetness, preventing it from being cloying. This is where it out shines Rochas Man, cause as much as I love that fragrance too, it does become too sweet and hard to wear for me.
People have mentioned woods in some reviews, but I get none. The sweetness of vanilla and chocolate gives it a nose of cola.
Not my kind of scent to wear, but still nice all the same. If you like Rochas Man you’ll like this hands down.

  16. :

    3 out of 5

Amazing fragrance I’m glad I took a gamble on this one as far as comparing it to the original I can’t say and I don’t really get that much of the chocolate but the cola smell is so delightful and during the first couple of hours it’s kind of like sitting in a bubble of cola. Longevity is super nice as I sprayed it on before dinner last night and still could smell it on my arm this morning almost 12 hours later! Plus picked this one up at our local Ross so it was easy on the pocketbook as well.

Smells delicious : cola, velvet and chocolate.
Sometime, it remembers me a kind of CK Be, but intense.
    Women love.
Good news : the performance is very good ! Longevity (12 h) and projection (good the firsts 3 hours).

  18. :

This fragrance has the appeal that I have been craving as of late: dry, a little smoky, fine peppercorn dust with a sweet & nutty nuance. But it’s over before I get warmed up.

  19. :

    4 out of 5

I haven’t smelled Obsession so I can’t speak to it’s similarities as a flanker. However, I enjoy this one. It’s definitely a winter/night time frag with date potential. A dark yet sweet vanilla and woody scent that will surely garner some attention (almost gourmand to me). This is probably not a formal type frag but more for going out on a date (or for, you know, just smelling good on the town). I’d say a more mature scent but the younger dudes could rock it if they aren’t trigger happy.
The longevity on me was pretty good, I got about 5-6 hours. The sillage is actually pretty good on this one from what I can tell. I got a 4.0oz bottle for around 19 dollars so if you can find it, I’d definitely snatch the sucker.

  20. :

    4 out of 5

Chocolate/coca cola comes to mine with this unique fragrance. Hard to describe but its very nice and masculine and has good longevity with average projection. Women like it as its received a few compliments. Nice for a night time date. Subtle yet strangely captivating sent as I couldn’t stop smelling it on my wrist the first time I tested it.
Can be picked up fairly cheap now but possibly is getting discontinued as Boots in Ireland has stopped selling it, as has Amazon UK. So pick it up if you see it cheap and like it, I recommend it.

  21. :

Masculine vanilla diluted by woods and hints of orange or lemon.
Longevity is 5+ hours with good projection.
A nice winter scent for sure.

Similar to YSL la nuit but the dry down is sweet. Very nice fragrance and well blended. Excellent for night time and it is sexy. The price is cheap and I’m happy with the purchase. It is a fragrance that you will not smell everywhere you go. It has a dark character and pleasing effect. I like it.

Absolutely, absolutely, ABSOLUTELY, LOVE this fragrance, not frag, but FRAGRANCE!!!! Yup had to spell it out. My new favorite from the house that Calvin built! I like this better than CK Shock for Him. This is definitely a grown man doing grown man things type of scent… If you love frags with vanilla, then you’ll love this one. The vanilla is consistent throughout the entire transition. I’m not a expert in the picking up the notes department, but I do know what I like and what works for me! Fantastic scent, good sillage, pretty good longevity so far, about 2 hours now and still going strong! . I’m loving it so far. Definitely recommend this one…

  25. :

    3 out of 5

Setting aside comparisons to its skateboarding younger brother CK Shock, this is Calvin Kleins most exemplary entry in the sweet category.
It’s not linear though. This is a performance in 3 acts. 3 distinct, seperate acts.
Opening has 3 or 4 characters tumbling out on stage simultaneously. Green mandarin, guarana, the wormwood/absinthe accord, and vanilla. (The guarana is novel here, sort of a bright spiced coffee-fruit that gets an interesting kick from the wormwood that i can’t properly describe.) The mandarin exits almost immediately upon opening, which is why i think most people don’t rate it in their descriptions. The vanilla, guarana and wormwood play around with each other for awhile until everything suddenly changes into a powdery, soapy, lavenderless barbershop. This is act two, and its almost like I’ve been the victim of a bait-and-switch: Being sent to a very interesting South American sweets shop, but ending up at the barbers.
Now that we’re past the first hour and a half, the 3rd act drydown comes in, where the powder fades out and the vanilla quietly takes centerstage with labdanum and a very faint suede to give me a pleasant caramel note that stays until the end.
Performance is moderate and sillage is low, as to be expected from CK.
A female friend summed it up for me as: “Eat you. Throw you in the shower. Snuggle.” I’m ok with that.
    Postscript-
I think the trick to enjoying this is to enjoy how it changes. If you like the opening or middle notes and find yourself wanting that to last longer you will probably be disappointed. Buy a big bottle now if you see one at a discount store. I have a feeling after this gets discontinued, people will write the same kind of memory-lane-swoon reviews they currently do for anything made before the late 90’s.

Great juice here, great nighttime and intimate scent. Glad to see CK coming out with a truly great scent again. It’s been a little bit, but CK hit it out of the park on this one. Right from the start the vanilla bean with the Guarana notes are very intriguing. Then the slight seude notes come with the green mandarin and Labdanum, and this scent becomes a masterpiece that seems to be always evolving.
10/10 easily for me. Perfect scent for taking my girl home and having sex all night long, this scent screams sex, sex, sex, and more sex.
CK Dark Obsession, Zirh Ikon, Tom Ford Black Orchid and Mandarina Duck Black all scream i’m sexier and smoother than you……
    Scent:10

    Sillage:6
Unique/Industry First: 8 Great and unique use of ingredients

Not sure how many CK haters there are out there, apparently there’s a bunch, as they’ve succeeded at Dragging CK Dark Obsessions score down to a 3.85 on fragrantica.com on April 14, 2017. This scent is clearly well over a 4, don’t let the CK haters sway you, they don’t like the sexy marketing and hype around CK, but this scent smells so Damn sexy, it should be the official scent for male/female couples having sex for 2017.
Soon as you smell this scent, you know it’s great. And it’s too bad for the 99% of people that love this truly great scent, that other people just hit the dislike box without even owning this product. Never in a million years is a product so good like this scent, and yet it rates less on Fragrantica.com than Zino Davidoff which is a horrendous mess of a scent.

Dark Obsession has won me back over to cK. Big Time. I am very particular about mens fragrance. Only Kouros has topped my list and a couple Chanel. To me this is a kick-ass coffee fragrance. I have tried Rochas Man and now can even appreciate that one better thanks to Dark Obsession. (It had been a disappointment.) No heavy analysis here. I swing with scent and this is better than any of the 3 womens coffee themed which I tried, including YSL Black Opium. This is stellar on its own – imagine it coupled with a good chocolate fume. Or tobacco. Or both. Glorious dark bottle sits ominously on my dresser as a warning to all the others that a bad ass is in town. Per cost? I prefer my fragrances affordable because to me they are like wine where high cost does not guarantee quality and tiny gems are Everywhere for dollars. You are spending under $25 now online for 4 oz. Come on .. that’s a deal!

The moment I smelled this, I knew my girl would want it. It belongs in the longed-for category of “pirate perfumes”–leathery and boozy–for her.
    Fortunately I love it too.

Very nice fragrance for the price. Strong and sweet and probably best for the colder weather. Considering you can get a 2.5 ounce bottle for $25 at the discounter stores like T.J. Maxx it’s definitely worth it.

  31. :

The original Obsession is in my top five, due to not just the scent, but the nostalgia associated with it. I purchased Obsession summer this past summer, and was rather pleased with it – as was my girlfriend. Dark Obsession is no exception. I enjoy the deeper notes of this formulation, and given that I got a 4 oz bottle for less than $20, I can afford to put any extra on that is required to make it last. I am happy that I added this to my ever-growing collection.

  32. :

This intrigued me with the guarana note. There’s a really yummy soda called Guarana Antarctica. This does have a pleasing zesty berry note. But it also has a harsh herbal accord that makes it too masculine for me.

Calvin Klein is a shining example of flankers gone totally bonkers. Just about every fragrance they release is following by a hundred flankers which bear little to no resemblance to the original. In fact, Dark Obsession smells more like CK One Shock than the original Obsession.
I think the motto of the CK management is “Milk it until it drops dead”. I guess they feel that if they throw enough stuff on the wall, some will stick.
That said, I really like Dark Obsession. It feels warm and comforting like an old friend.
Damn it, you win Calvin Klein. LOL

  34. :

This fragrance is just so darn good that I felt I have found the perfect scent for my fall collection. There is just so much going on here: a thick accord of espresso, chocolate, soft leather, and smoke. This is a walk through dark mysterious woods with your jacket collar propped up against your ears, you see a tiny little house and enter it…a whiff of dark coffee, spices and tobacco assaults your senses…suddenly you are at home, safe…warm, comforting.
I sense so much of Tom Ford’s Tobacco & Vanille in this blend, the guarana and vanilla are so expertly synchronized that the appearance of suede and balsam firs appeared natural and expected. There is nothing here offensive or uninviting.
Overall a masterpiece in my mind; but like I have stated, this perfume is not for everyone. Hubby has tried on Dark Obsession and to my nose he does not project the same harmonious results that I fell in love with. The smell was off by a hair; that velvety blend got lost in a cocktail of scent fragments that never seemed to fit in anywhere; in fact some people find that there are no chocolates or coffee in this perfume at all. I was disappointed but also relieved; I guess this will be my personal fragrance after all. =]
For the price and quality, I would recommend this one over Tobbaco & Vanille. It would be an adventure in gourmand heaven, and an unforgettable experience.

I bought it because I like very much most of ck perfumes, shock, shock se…etc and of course I did use in the pas Obsession night, I used to like it a lot, so i decided to buy the Dark Obsession because i wanted a winter fragrance. First sniff..was awesome, realy,it resembles a lot with ck shock, but with coffee notes..and cinamon. I realy like it. On my skin it lasts for 4..5 hours, its kind of close to skin scent..but in the cold outside..it spreads a nice coffe-cinnamon-shock blast ! It realy is a winter fragrance in my oppinion. You should try it too. I don’t know why most people dislike it, it’s a very cute winter cologne. Of course, i wear jp’s kokorico, dior sauvage, diesel..tom ford..which this Dark obsession has nothing to do with them, but if you get used to it, it smells like Guerlain combined with ck shock. And the dry down types coffee&cinnamon ! It a realy lovely winter fragrance..sometimes i get bored of armani code profumo..or jimmy choo and blast some of CK’s Dark Obsession on my neck and clothes..and guess what ? It calms me down, and projecting some cozy-cockiness-sexy feeling..even though it’s nothing special. But you know that simple is special right?
On the true hand : GET IT ! WEAR IT ON CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS..CREATE YOUR MEMORIES..YOU’LL LOVE THE DARK OBSESSION IN WINTER ! cHEERS

I have to double check, I think this is the one I smelled at the store, but it could have been another flanker… Think it was this one though. I really liked the smell of it.. It was sweet but appealing and not overly cloying or sugary. I was impressed on first impression. I have to try it again and test out longevity and projection but it seemed decent.

I bought this perfume on a trip to USA. I really liked the scent and the price seemed cheap. I got some compliments but the thing was it was really sweet and it disturbed me. I don’t think this fragrance is for people with migraine. But, the scent is decent and longevity is overall.

This cologne literally drives me crazy when my boyfriend wears it! (In a good way!) I agree with most reviewers, it’s very, very sweet for a masculine fragrance, which is probably why I love it so much! (I understand that might not be for everyone.) The vanilla is extremely smooth, velvety, and delectable in this. I also smell a dirty woodsy vibe in the background, it’s completely hypnotizing to me. I’m not completely sure what guarana smells like on it’s own, but I’m guessing that’s what I’m smelling in Dark Obsession. It’s an aphrodisiac actually. However, I think as you wear this one more and more it blends in with your own natural skin chemistry, it becomes more luscious and musky. It’s divine! On my boyfriend the longevity is slightly above average, with moderate sillage. You probably won’t knock any one out with this, but you can definitely smell it’s seductive aura in a gentle non-offensive way. I really can’t put into words how addicting this stuff is to me, the name “Dark Obsession” is spot on! Hands down, this is my favorite fragrance on my boyfriend! Give it a try, especially if you like sweet scents with an edge. <3
    Scent: 10/10 for me!

After 2 days of wear I’m adding to my review some tidbits: my husband said “it smells kind of chocolate-y”. And on him it does, dark dark chocolate-y-ish a smoky-ish vanilla, and that seriously sexy spicy base. A very slight in the distance whiff of original men’s obsession. I do not like original men’s obsession, it’s so…, well it’s…, but, anyways let’s continue. He smells delicious. Just oh my gosh delicious. I’m thinking yes, the dessert factor of this cologne, a mens gourmand, will have the ladies coming close for more. Maybe I should rethink letting him out of the house alone wearing this one?!?
Being so rich and dreamy, I had to try it on myself. Wow. On me it’s totally different, I smell original obsession, not the men’s but the women’s, which I do somewhat like, but here it’s better. Soft and spicy and warm mingling spices and vanilla. I love this on me also. A lot. Think I’m glad this bottle is a 4 ouncer.
Let me clarify this is not unisex. But… Big but. Using me and my hubs as example: on hubs this is masculine, dark and rich. The spice is very amplified on him. Sweet but like he said, dark chocolate sweet just enough bitterness. A vanilla extract type of vanilla somewhere in there. Hold on I’m drooling a bit lol. Ok on me there’s a soft sweet that overrides the spice. Maybe the vanilla amplifies on my skin? It’s definitely sweeter on me. Absolutely wearable on me. I’ve looked for this type of scent for me, with no luck. Most recently jimmy choo stars which had all the ideas in it but had a cigar tobacco or something in the base I could not get past.
So I won’t call this unisex still. It lacks the citrus or fresh or ambiguous aroma associated with unisex. BUT < — (there’s the big but), I do decide both men and women would enjoy wearing this as it seems to personalize very well to ones skin chemistry. I’m almost sure CK took womens obsession and added some bitter-sweet gourmand scents, some exotic spices and finished it with a chameleon behaving type musk.
I’m not a huge flanker fan. I’m sick to death of citrus in everything. I’m totally into scents that smell distinct on each wearer. A perfume or cologne should not lay on you and mask your personal odor. It should blend with you and become your own. Dark obsession does this. Very well.

Gentlemen and ladies….i bought this for my husband after having sniffed entire shelves of scents. Rich, creamy, dark vanilla, intoxicating spice. In a sea of aquatic fresh shower loud colognes, this mysterious tall dark and handsome stands alone. It’s what I would have imagined/had hoped V&R spicebomb to be. I can’t even describe how sensuous and intoxicating this is. I will just call it magic potion, I don’t think I need to say why 😉

I was walking thru the mall and I stopped at the perfumania after noticing there was a sweet sale going on, after spraying a bunch of strips the lady behind the counter gave me this one to try and as soon as I smelled it I was hooked… Bought it and must say I’m extremely happy with it… I loved the original obsession and this one is has hints of the original but has a different quality to it.. Dark Obsession is well named.. It’s like obsession with crushed thin mint cookies in it.. Best way for me to describe…. Really nice on the dry down, reminds me a bit like that Mexican cinnamon rice drink horchata, but spicier…very nice scent… longevity could be better but if the price is right I def recommend it

I was stunned to find out there is no mint in this scent. Literally all i get is mint.

Obsession is one of my favourite scents. I find it very business like and is wonderful out of the bottle. Dark Obsession takes that a step further and goes from business to sexy after work.
But like all CK fragrances they are great in the shop but disappointing when you get them home. They all smell great. They don’t last and they don’t project. It’s like taking your
